Pressure cookers are popular now, and the Gourmia is a good alternative to the better known Instant Pot (especially if it's on sale). But the directions leave something to be desired. As long as you do some web searching, there are a lot of good sites for assisting in using the cooker. The most important concept I picked up from my searches was that pressure cooker times in the booklet don't always account for the time it takes for the cooker to achieve the cooking temperature /pressure. Using it the first time, we did not have the best results with cooking a pork roast. My husband is not convinced yet that it's better than a slow cooker. Also, pressure cookers easily take on the smell of what you've cooked. If you plan to alternate cooking savory/meat dishes and cooking sweets/desserts, you'll want a secondary seal and liner pot. I found the 8qt Instant Pot parts fit my 8 qt Gourmia just fine.

Cuts cooking time in half or more. Meats come out juicy, not dried out. Cooks everything in one pot at one time. There are 1000's of pressure cooker recipes out there. Read the manual on how to control the unit and then you can use any pressure cooker recipe. Two complaints and the reason for 4 out of 5 stars. 1) Each menu button has a limit on how long the timer can be set for. For instance, if you want to cook a chicken dish for 5 mins, you have to use the steam menu button because poultry won't allow you to cook for less than 8 mins. Very aggravating having to figure out which menu button to use when you want to cook outside the pre-programmed time limits. 2) Customer service was never open when I needed to talk to them. I am continuing to learn new ways to cook with this unit and so far everything has come out perfect. Plus it's very easy to clean once you're done.

I was not really looking for a pressure cooker until this showed up on Best Buy's Deal of the Day. This is a fairly large cooker and it is very easy to use. My only gripe is that I want more recipes. The cooker comes with a small cookbook and instructions on cooking most foods. However some of the recipes say "Cook" the food and there is not a "Cook" option. The instructions are not the easiest to follow however once you learn how the cooker works, its a great item. The food is delicious, moist, and done at a fraction of the time. I have not tried the crock pot feature yet but looking forward to it. One of my favorite dishes is risotto and it cooked in about 6min! I gave a 4 rating instead of 5 due to there not being a standard cook button/setting and it takes some getting used to.

Bought this on sale for my first pressure cooker. Good generic quick settings. Warm up time until count down is around 15 minutes. The LED screen is not very intuitive. When I first started it I didn’t know if it was working or if it errored because it just started blinking. Well, it was warming up. Found that on some YouTube video. Then when it’s done it says ‘bb’ ..... um what is that? I still don’t know, but it means done and on warm. The meat setting is vague. 6 lb roast took about 2 hours not the 20-30 minutes as the cookbook or preset uses. In the end I think it’s a cook lil cooker for the on sale price. Everything I have made has turned out good. You just have to get used to the timing and seasoning/water ratios. They are a little different than cooking using other methods. It does save some time.

I have used pressure cookers all my life, but only the non-electric kind. After seeing a resurgence on recipe sites of pressure cooker use, I decided to try an electric one. I have been very happy so far with my decision and the only reason I didn't give this thing 5 stars is that the cord is so short. During the holidays, I had two crock pots, the oven and my pressure cookers all going at the same time and I wanted to use the pressure cooker on my table instead of on the counter, because the counters were all occupied with other things, but the cord was too short to reach from the table to the outlet on the wall. It would be perfect if this thing came with a retractable cord that was a couple of feet longer like my old rice cooker did.

The Gourmia pressure pot is very impressive! I love everything about it, the only reason I give it a 4 Star is because the instructions aren’t really helpful as far as if you want to just cook with a set time without having to choose a certain cooking setting. You can’t just pick the + or - and add time you have to pick meat, chicken, soup etc and non of them will count down to 1,2,3,4 minutes except steam. So if the recipe calls for 3 minutes to cook you have to pick steam which sounds just wrong to me to cook steel cut oats. Everything else I’ve cooked has turned out awesome & and better than the old way I used to cook the same old recipes and I’ve been cooking for 30+ years

I heard everyone talking about the joys of a pressure cooker so I started looking for one. This was on sale for $50 so I decided to try it out. I'm glad that I did. Bought it in July. A week hasn't gone by where I don't use it at least twice. I saw reviews about the insecure exhaust which is a issue I had. I tightened the bolt and it hasn't been a problem since. That's the only thing I took a star for. It's been easy to use for what I do. I even throw frozen food in it, push the button and walk away. It cooked pinto beans in under an hour. It has made preparing dinner so much easier.

Can't beat it for the price I got it for, $49. It has some minor flaws. The maximum time that is allowed to cook is 99 minutes. Some things need to cook longer then that, like bone broth. You can side step this buy just adding additional time at the end of the cycle. All the things we have made have turned out great though. The pot itself is non-stick and very easy to clean. The trivet that came with it is too small imho. I just bout a larger one to put in it.

Not as many features as some of the competitors or the original but works fantastic. Instructions and small cookbook are nice but there are no manual setting for pressure cooking when you need to go for an hour or more, at least not that I could figure out. For the price it is easy enough to just leave it pressurized and start the sequence over again. Have made 6 meals with it so far and we are very pleased with the performance. Pot roast and oxtail soup to mention a few.

Easy to use and quite fool-proof the Gourmia Pressure Cooker is a great starting point into the world of pressure cooking. Chicken has been wonderful and is now my preferred way of preparing above both oven and sous-vide simply out of ease of use. Machine is also 99% quiet while in operation and is nothing like the old stove-top pressure cookers of old. My only complaint is the lack of heat settings. Overall a great entry point.

I bought this model simply because it was a Best Buy deal of the day, and I wanted to jump on the pressure cooker band wagon. The manuals hardly tell you how to work the thing, but after awhile I just started experimenting and the meals turn out great. The machine has its quirks, but once you figure everything out, it's really fun to use. I'm sure there are better models, but if you find this one on sale I would snag it!

One of the best purchases I’ve ever made! I have definitely gotten my money’s worth on this appliance. I haven’t found anything that I can’t cook in this thing! Love it and can’t believe I waited so long to try it. Highly recommend a smart pot, and this is a solid brand. Only took one star off because I wish it came with a stainless steel inner pot instead of a non-stick one.

Love using this when I'm in a hurry to fix a meal. Seems to prepare things just as well as a namebrand instapot. My only worry is the "nonstick" type surface. Im worried that the material will start flaking off, but it hasnt yet. The internal part of the vent cap is poorly designed. I have to lineup and tighten it back into place every 5-6 uses

This works just as advertised. Can easily and quickly brown meat in the pot and then quickly convert to pressure cooking. Controls were easy enough to figure out without reading the manual. The 8 quart size is plenty of room! Made a 4lb pork shoulder for pulled pork and could have easily fit nearly double the amount of meat in it. Clean up is easy.

Bought this item last December on 50% sale and never regretted it. Works and cooks like an Instant Pot but more bang for the buck. My only gripe with this unit is that sometimes the pressure cap at the top of the unit would not release pressure and I have to fiddle around this thing to get it to cook on non-pressurize mode. The company needs to look further into this defect.

I purchased this as a joint Christmas gift for myself and my husband and we're really enjoying the convenience of it. At first we were a little intimidated by it, but after reading the instructions and searching out recipes online we've found it fairly easy to use and everything has turned out delicious!

I would give it 5 stars but the appliance itself is intimidating. I wish the instruction book was dumbed down for beginners. The appliance itself is wonderful! Saves so much time ! Im making my own "cheat sheet" as i try things so i know what works. So glad my husband surprised me with this!

the instructions were easy enough to read through as I used the various recipes that came with the product. I never used a pressure cooker, so learning was needed. It came with enough recipes to get me started with step by step on what to do - which was nice. Now I can look online for more recipes . It saves time for sure.

Cant say enough how awesome these things are! Cuts cook time to a fraction of what it normally is. The. only down side to this brand is the control Layout & the majority of the online recipe communities don't match up. Most online resources give directions for the Instapot units, but a little practice and you can figure it out.

A terrific item to add to your kitchen. I was a skeptic at first, but after a few meals I truly love this (gadget). Items can be cooked in under an hour, or overnight. The only downside is it does take the machine 20-25 minutes to pressurize. Also, having some sort of lid so you could place the container in the refrigerator would be helpful also.
