Every once in a while I stumble upon a product that I think will be a cool addition to my lighting collection and this is definitely one I'm pleasantly surprised by. Don't let the fact that you've probably never heard of Govee be a detractor to picking up this product. The setup process using the Govee Home app was extremely easy and opens the door to a significant amount of customization (and I'm being conservative by saying significant) that the lamp has. There is a dizzying array of custom settings ranging from nature & life to colors of your favorite food ingredients. While I"m not sure anyone needs quite this much flexibility with their lighting, it's pretty impressive how they can get some of them to pull off. As I sit here looking at "Kitchen Aroma" which truly looks like smoke coming off a cooking dish, I'm more than intrigued with what is going on inside the lamp that I can't see than ever. Regardless of where you decide to put it in your home, this is the kind of lamp that kids are going to love and adults who enjoy cool gadgets too!

The key to having good multifunctional lighting is to have both light and music in one device. While the Govee Aura has a built-in microphone for controlling the light to a beat, it requires an external music source. That said, it's a nice little lamp that has multiple lighting profiles and is controllable via the app for many more effects. You can also use Alexa to turn it on and off, as well as from the app regardless of your proximity. The microphone is extremely sensitive, but can be adjusted in the app. As a table lamp, you would need one every 15 ft to create a nice effect in a larger room. If you're using it as a bedside lamp, most suitable for a kids room, a single one might work fine for most effects. For a few bucks more, you could get a floor lamp that would illuminate far more. Given its current price, it really should have its own built-in speaker; it feels hollow enough to fit one. To summarize, It's a fun lighting toy that happens to dance to music if you want it to. I wouldn't consider it in any serious way, since it's missing the features, look and build quality of a serious product.

Cool ambient colors and simple to connect to Bluetooth with lots of designed to play with.

this is the best for gaming and a night light and I have never owned a better lamp
