Very disappointed. Isn’t compatible with thin profile TV’s like OLED’s even though there are workarounds … even slight movement cause misalignment and needs recalibration.

Pretty cool! I thought this would be a gimmick but it is actually pretty cool! Movies and shows are actually better! The whole room comes to life with your screen!
Setup took some time because my tv is mounted on the wall. If your tv is on its stand it will most likely be much easier. Other wise I found it easier to use a step stool when attaching the led strips. Now I’m a perfectionist so I made sure all wires were hidden and the wires connecting each light strip (on the corners) were tucked in and out of sight. I also made sure the cables did not cast any shadows when the lights were illuminated. Downloading the app and connecting the device to the app was super easy. I thought I would have problems but in reality it has been flawless! I put the camera on the bottom of my tv as if I put it up top it would stick out like a sore thumb. However; being on the bottom I don’t even notice it as it blends in with my Blu-ray player mounted under the tv. The kit comes with 8 orange squares for adjusting and fine tuning your camera to the screen. The sticky back will not harm your tv as it is Very light. I confirmed after it did not leave a residue or cause any harm. You adjust the dots on the app to the squares which you see through the camera on your phone. Once this is done you are ready to go.
The app is filled with settings like flashing, steady, effects, timers, mode, brightness. You name it this thing will do it. I alway keep it on the setting that will make the lights change color and mimic what’s on my screen. It’s so cool how each corner and sides will match what’s on the screen or be a similar color scheme. The whole room comes to life and movies are just awesome with my sonos sound system.
I honestly don’t go to the movies anymore since Covid. I have the ultimate setup at home with one of the top Sony 4k tv, sonos setup and now the Govee lights.
The only reason I gave 4 stars is because I wish it was easier to hide the camera. If it was on top of the tv I feel like everyone would notice it and big brother be watching. The bottom it’s less noticeable but it kind of blocks the ir receiver so I had to make my own adjustments to make it just right.

Review for
Govee - Dreamview TV Strip Lights - for 55”- 65” TVs
I found these TV lights easy to install. The instructions are straightforward and the app to connect to them worked great for setup. Similar systems can easily cost more than 3X as much, so I was pleased to see that they are well made and are very bright — although you can dim them to your favorite level. In order to mimic the TV image, more expensive systems tap into the TV signal itself; these use a small fisheye camera that you can mount above or below the screen. I was skeptical that the response time for such a system would be unacceptable, but again, was surprised at how well this works! I also thought the camera, though small, would be annoying, but it’s easily ignored. I took away one star for the app that controls the lights. It’s not hard to use, but it’s set up to include all of Govee’s products and, as such is crowded and a bit confusing. The ability to customize the layout for your product(s) would make it more user friendly.

The Govee - Dreamview TV Strip Lights - for 55”- 65” TVs will enhance your viewing or gaming experience whether no matter your experience level with emersive lighting.
I had a static LED setup on my 65 inch SONY, meaning the lights were whatever color I set them on with no software to move with the action on the screen. Generally set to blue in the evening it worked well. Or it did until the Govee system arrived.
Emersive lighting gives the illusion of expanding your display and changes with the action. To say that when set up properly and with a little patience this will enhance your viewing or gaming experience is an understatement, but although you can unbox and install without issue a little patience will make a good thing even better, especially if you're an AV geek like me.
OK let's get into the nuts and bolts a little bit. Trust me guys this will make your life easier.
First this setup is for both a 55 and 65 inch display. Important to note there is no cutting needed, and here's the trick. For a 55 inch set set the LEDs about 1 inch in from the edge, and for a 65 inch position the Led strip about 3 inches from the edge for the best result.
Next, the included camera can be mounted on either the top or the bottom of your display. If you use a wall mount and angle your display mount the camera on the bottom. If you use the stand mounting on the top gives the best results.
The Govee Home app is excellent. You can adjust the intensity, brightness and white balance. Here's where a little patience will really pay off
Intensity - for the most natural and accurate reproduction of color bring the level to just under 50% Any more will upset the balance.
Brightness - adjust according to light in the room and taste. Gaming is cooler brighter.
White Balance - Adjust between blue and red but angling toward blue lends a more natural effect. I suggest blue 20%.
For the real geeks, like me, since all displays are different, adjusting the white balance and color bias on the set itself will really fine tune the experience. (see enclosed pix).
The only real competition for the Govee - Dreamview TV Strip Lights - for 55”- 65” TVs is by Phillips Hue, but this setup won't cause you to sip a meal or gas for the car, if you catch my meaning.
There ya have it guys, the Govee - Dreamview TV Strip Lights - for 55”- 65” TVs is a winner. Even with the extra adjustments I recommended you will be up and reveling in 20 mins or about 45.if you calibrate your set.
For a little extra fun go to MUSIC mode and rawk out.
CHEERS!

Great lights - Just Not Great for TV Ambiance

TLDR:
(that’s Too Long, Didn’t Read)
The lights themselves are really nice and attach to the back of the TV well, but the whole setup just doesn’t work well for “extending” the TV visuals past the edges of the screen. The camera doesn’t work that great for choosing the colors for the lights at the edges, and they don’t seem to be able to turn on or off automatically with the TV.
Pros:
* Light strips are bright and colorful and securely attach to the TV.
* Kit fits my 65” OLED TV well.
* Easy and secure installation.
* Lots of options in the companion App.
* WiFi connectivity doesn’t require Bluetooth proximity for control.
Cons:
* Using a fisheye camera to determine colors for the edges doesn’t work well.
* Doesn’t appear to be a way to have the lights turn on and off with the TV.
Details - Setup:
Setup is extensive but not terribly difficult. The lights are composed of four (4) separate strips that are tethered to each other in a long loop with one “chunk” per edge of your TV. Starting at one edge (either the left or right), you stick the light strip to the back of your TV and continue around in a loop until all four sides are attached. Next, mount the camera to either the top or bottom of the TV. My LG 65” OLED TV’s top bezel is so thin that I had to mount the camera to the bottom edge. Make sure that you leave enough room for the camera mount when you attach the light strips, too.
After the lights and the camera are mounted, next is the easy part. Plug the light strip’s single USB-C cable and the camera’s USB-A cable into the small control box, then plug the AC power adapter into the control box. Power up the box and follow the easy steps in the app to get the box on your WiFi. Calibration of the camera is critical to getting a good lighting experience. There are orange foam blocks that you temporarily stick onto the front of your TV to mark the corners and edges for the camera. The camera’s image is fish-eyed so it’s not easy to line it all up, but once you do, you can remove the foam blocks and toss them unless you want to reuse them for future calibration.
That’s basically it for setup. If you want, you can also tidy up the wires and mount the controller box to the back of the TV.
Details - Typical Usage:
I have another brand of TV lights mounted to my TV already. That other brand has a sync box that connects to the HDMI cable for my TV and monitors the video signal rather than using a camera to “look at” the picture on the TV. The camera that comes with this kit attempts to “see” what’s on the TV visually and modulate the brightness and color of the lights on the edges of the screen.
I would expect from a kit like this is that the lights would extend the colors from the edges of the TV picture; If there is red at the left edge of the screen, I’d expect that edge’s lights to be red. The problem is that the light on the edges seems to match the colors on the center of the screen and not be an extension of the content near the edges; unlike the other TV sync box that intercepts the actual video signal from the HDMI cable. With this kit, you end up with lighting at the edges that more matches the center of the screen which doesn’t look that great to me.
There are tons of settings in the app and you can even set it up for Amazon or Google voice control. The lights can be set to turn on or off at a certain time of day, but it doesn’t appear that you can have them automatically turn on or off with the TV. Since this kit mounts to the TV, it’s designed to match the lights to video content, yet a ton of the settings are for matching music, room sounds or just being ambient light.
I really had a hard time getting it calibrated to have the lights “extend” the color from that edge of the screen. The camera just doesn’t appear to be a great way to determine what color and brightness should be at the edges since the camera’s fish-eye lens has a hard time seeing anything at the edges of the screen.
Conclusion:
The light strips mounted easily and worked well, but the control box and camera system doesn’t work that great for “extending” the light at the edges of the TV image onto the wall. Plus, you need to manually turn the control box on and off rather than having it turn on and off with your TV. Overall, I prefer the other product’s control method of intercepting the HDMI video signal rather than using a camera to “watch” TV with you. This kit performs better as a TV-mounted ambient light than it does as an extension of the TV picture.

Do not regret adding this to my TV

This really makes playing games and watching movies a bit more fun. The lights are quick to respond to what's displayed on the screen and are generally pretty close to the colors on the screen, which is really neat. But, if you find that too distracting, you can choose your own lighting scheme. They really allow full customization for the lights, and you can use it when the TV is off also. The overall flexibility I really like about this product.
Setup looks scary and daunting (sticking adhesives to your TV!), but it really isn't that bad. First thing to do is mount the camera in the middle of the TV. It has basic 3M adhesive that both is on the front lip of the camera mount that sticks to the front of the TV, and then the bottom of the mount that sticks to the top of the TV. I used a tape measure to make sure I got the middle of the TV, and then stuck the camera on. My tv is rather thin so it didn't have a lot of surface area to stick to, but seems to be fine. The wire for the camera is pretty short (maybe 2 or 3 ft), so I had to get a USB extension to be able to reach the control box.
The next step is sticking the LED light strip to the back of your TV. Make sure you pay attention to how you do this. They expect the end of the strip to be at the lower left or lower right of the TV. And whichever you choose, just make a note of what "direction" you went (there are arrows in the LED strip). Then you plug the lights and camera into the control box.
Next is to connect to it on your phone with the Govee app, which was very straightforward and hassle-free. It then guides you through calibrating the camera. This involves sticking bright orange square cubes to the TV screen. This is scary, but the adhesive is very mild, and did not leave any marks or residue on my screen, and were easy to take off.
The guide does say to turn off the TV, but I suggest to leave the TV on while you're sticking the cubes on, so you can see where the edges of the visible image are on your screen, because it's not always obvious when it's off. After you have the cubes stuck, then turn off the TV.
After that it displays an image of what the camera sees, and you have to drag points to the four corners of the TV. It's a extreme fisheye lens on the camera, so your TV will look very strange and maybe hard to see. This was the most difficult part, getting the dots on the orange cubes. The next step is similar, but for the cubes that are halfway between the corners.
Once that's done, you're basically good to go. Take the cubes off but save them! Stick them back on the white sheet so you can recalibrate if you didn't get it right. You can go back into the recalibration with the TV on, and see where the dots are and make sure they're as close to the edges of the TV as you could get. My first try I did not get the bottom inch or two of the screen.
So, now for the quirks of this device, that made me bring it down to 4 stars. First noticeable thing is the lights sometimes flicker when quickly changing between colors or brightness which can be a bit distracting or annoying. I wish the transitions were a bit smoother at times.
The other big quirk has to do with it being a camera looking at your TV at a very extreme close-up angle. TVs have a "viewing angle", meaning the best angles to get the best color reproduction. At extreme angles, you get washed out colors. You can also more easily pick up reflections. And this camera has to contend with those issues. On my TV at that close angle, colors are fairly washed out, so sometimes if the scene doesn't have very vibrant colors, the camera may not pick up on it and will pick a neutral color. This is particularly so for dark scenes. But, your experience may vary depending on your TV.
The other issue is with reflections, which it can pick up colors and lights reflected off the TV, instead of what's visible on the TV.
But obviously, the benefit with a camera approach, instead of HDMI approach, is that this will work for all and any sources displayed on the TV, so it's a lot more flexible.
Overall, I really like this, and I felt like it added to my home theater experience. Also, fun note: this is meant for up to 65" TVs, but I managed to make it work (just barely) with a 75" TV, though might not be as accurate.

I have always enjoyed smart lights. Setup was simple, although i wasnt a fan of having to stick tge rope lights to the back of the TV, as the clips included didnt hold up. However i was attaching the lights to a curved TV so the fit wasnt the best. It works great and looks fantastic. It really does enhance the viewing experience.

Wow, this Govee Dreamview TV Strip Light setup has impressed me immensely. I have used a strip light hooked up to my TV's rear for about a year, but this Govee setup is so much nicer.
The wifi capability works really well and I have this paired with my Amazon Alexa device to control the lights with voice control. The Govee app on my iPhone works very quickly and allows me to adjust the lighting preferences to my liking. My 65" Samsung QLED TV looks even better with these lights turned on for ambient viewing and more immersive viewing.
Inside the box you'll be getting the strip lights, power adapter, control box, and camera. The installation took me about 20-30 minutes since I had to adhere the strip lights to the back of my TV panel in a rectangular form. I then installed the camera device on top of the tv set. Calibrated the camera via the app to ensure the scene was set properly. Paired this up to my Alexa account via the Govee app. Once it's up and running, this light strip setup is vivid and bold.
This Govee Dreamview offers 16 million colors of light with various setups to respond to sound, to the screen on the TV, and static light. I have truly enjoyed the light response to movie or television watching. The glow from the backlight that extends on to the wall behind it really makes me feel more immersed into the viewing. The colors of the lightstrip adjusting while the content is playing is really mind blowing. It takes some time to get used to, but really makes for a fun experience when watching your movie or show in the dark.
I highly recommend this for a fun effect, and a more enjoyable watching experience.

I did not know much about bias lighting and was skeptical at first. The philips hue linup appealed to me but for the cost and simplicity, I gave this a try. Setup was fairly easy. The only issue I had is the camera mounting to an oled tv (very thin tv thickness). I later found out you could mount the camera from the bottom. I thought that dynamic lighting would be destracring especially with the inevitable delay. To my surprise I prefer it on and dymamic rather than static color or off. The app is great in that I can control it on my phone from my couch. Lighting was plenty bright even for a mounted tv that stands upwards of 6" from the wall

The lighting really adds to any movie or video game experience! Only complaints that other people have had from seeing the set up are that the camera can be an eye sore if you're prone to seeing distracting items protruding out, and the lights can be distracting on some shows with lots of cuts. I personally had no issue with the camera, but I can see how shows with cuts that have different lighting styles can be distracting. For gaming, it is great. Really adds some ambiance to games. Set up was pretty easy on the App. Would recommend for a budget friendly set-up to add to your home theater or gaming room.

Super bright, easy to calibrate, and really good and color shift.
Once attached to back, and plugged into power, app connection is typical to other adjustable led lighting options.

The app is responsive. You don’t need to eat up an HMDI port for this one.
Putting the lights on the tv is MUCH easily if you take the TV off the wall first. But it can be done without taking the tv down.
The calibration isn’t too tough. Watch a video beforehand. Also, use a video for the calibration squares so you don’t have to put the sticky squares on your TV.
I liked the idea of putting the camera at the bottom instead of the top. The app allows for that now so no issues there either.
I liken this to a smart watch…you don’t need this per se but it is fun and useful once you have it. Play with the settings a little bit and enjoy!
