I owned the previous generation of this game and purchased the upgrade. I loved the first game and this is very much the same game. So I love this game as well. There are some changes that make this game fresh and replaying the SP is just as enjoyable as the first run. First person view (FPV) and the amount of options for camera controls allow me to customize this game. Love getting on an motorcycle in FPV. Shooting in FPV also feels natural like this game was developed as a first person shooter. Makes gun fights and game play fresh. The amount of additional media and content in this game is mind blowing. Finding things i missed in my first run. Some new content has been added to the upgrade expanding the world even more. Recommend this game for anyone mature enough to handle it. THIS GAME IS NOT FOR KIDS. Nudity extreme violence and drug use is throughout the game. It's odd but it's done in a comedic way..

Long story... long - bought this game for PS3 when it was released. PS3 took a dive after 6 long years of extensive gaming sessions. (Kudos Sony! Got my money's worth!) Decided to trade up the PS3 copy of GTA 5 for the PS4 copy after upgrading to PS4 late last year. (Ended up paying $25.66 for the game after trading old version.) Definitely worth the extra 25 bucks (in my opinion) to play this game again on next gen. Didn't think there would be a noticeable difference between PS3 and PS4 versions, but... there truly is a few differences I appreciated - foliage and rain within the game come to mind. I still play this on occasion - online, of course. It's a shame it takes so long for them to release new, GOOD content, but... I digress. Overall, absolutely worth the extra money to Rockstar - don't mind the additional $25 donation so they can continue to work toward a Red Dead 2 release... :)

One of, if not the best open world games to date.

As the summary states, Imo, the best open world game. The graphics of the game on the PS4 compared to the PS3 are obviously better because of the systems' graphics chip/processor but it just adds to the greatness that is GTA V. The attention to detail is astounding in terms of weapons, automobiles and the topography of the landscape itself. During campaign mode you eventually have a choice to play as three individual characters who have their own set of missions and unique special abilities. I could go on and on about the details of the game but I don't want to ruin it. Note: Some of the missions are harder to complete than others but there are so many of them. The vamped up online gameplay is the best there is. So much more online features have been added to the PS4 version. It's so much fun to play. I love this game.

I review this as someone who played and finished GTA V on 360. Is this game worth a purchase if you have already played it on previous gen consoles? Yes, but with caveats. If you always wanted to see what could be done with a GTA game without the early attempts to build on like GTA IV, then this is what you have been looking for. GTA V on PS4/XB1 has all the improvements that you should expect in the form of improved textures, increased viewing distance and increased numbers of NPCs. No more will you see a wide city with no traffic or repeating cars like in the old games with limited system memory. It is a huge showcase game that offers just enough new to refresh the experience with it's first person camera. Whether that's enough is a personal choice and may not be for everyone. If you haven't played it on previous gen, then I highly recommend it for fans of the genre.

Rockstar are the innovators of the free-roaming game experience, and for GTA V, they have created the most realistic and immersive world yet: a re-imagined Los Santos, with plenty of city streets and surrounding beaches, mountains and small towns. The three characters that you control in the game are all unique, adding another element yet to be found in the series. In addition, this game is just loaded with all kinds of surprises: some that advance the story, and others that are just funny diversions. Finally, the storytelling in the game is one of a kind, and where Rockstar truly shines. This title is absolutely worthy of being the latest in the GTA franchise, and all of the enhancements (improved visuals, deeper radio libraries, etc.) definitely justify either picking this up for the first time, or for a second go-round if you experienced it on PS3 or XBOX 360.

There are so many little things in this re-release for GTA V. Some of these things are how much more living the city is. Letting the city go on by itself can result in utter chaos, making it seem as if there are other players in your single player world. Characters seem more fluid and lifelike now, and having the ability to play in first person enhances this. It's not just a tacked on feature but something completely feasible to play the entire game in. It takes a good amount getting used to and you can fine-tune your controls to make it even better. Rockstar really should have held off and just released it for the PS4, X-Bone and PC initially, but I'm glad I didn't fork over the $60 originally. I may even purchase it again next year for PC to see just how good the game can play and look. If you're looking for a great AAA this is one reason to own a PS4/.X-Bone

I saw this game played on a PS3 and thought it looked very good on the system I got the game on the PS4 expecting way better graphics and that is exactly what I got Very large install like over 65gigs download with patches so those with slow internet are not going to have a good time with updates and they are needed. Later on though I got this on PC and to be honest PC is amazing with 60fps and way better draw distance and detail it is also much sharper and cleaner . I do not regret the purchase of GTA5 on the PS4 at all it is great as well it is about 85 to 90 percent of the PC versions graphics but only at 30fps and it is a very noticeable difference in movement. Maybe PS4 pro will get a patch for this game for more parity with the PC version that would be awesome fingers crossed !!!!!!

GTA V on the Playstation 4 is a great accomplishment for gaming. It's basically a souped-up version of the PS3 release, which is great in its own right. The attention to detail is what really gets me though. Pedestrians and other drivers have personalities and react to what's going on. The gauges inside your car are individually detailed and function. The entire game has this consistent theme of thoroughness. At times the scenery looks almost photorealistic, although Rockstar adds just enough of a stylized look to the people and cars to remind you that you're still playing a game. The new first person mode adds a whole new dimension to gameplay and makes gunfights and callgirl encounters much more fun. I highly recommend this to just about anyone, as long as you can laugh at vulgar jokes and aren't easily offended you will enjoy your time spent with this game.

This is absolute gaming "gold". If you havent played this game yet, go pick it up immediately! This game is literally nonstop laughter and entertainment whether completing missions or picking up pros#$%utes in the new "1st person mode" or just running around stealing cars, running from the cops and completing side missions. Also, if you are into the open-world multiplayer: GTA online mode is worth a few months of fun on top of the campaign. I played and beat the PS3 version, but sold it when i bought my PS4. While this game is essentially the exact same game with very few minor changes/updates, it does look and play a lot smoother on next gen. I would rate this game as probably the #1 open-world on the market right now and absolutely one of the greatest of all time. If you enjoyed any previous GTA games then you will be blown away, no doubt.

All the details of next gen in first person look awesome, shooting a gun i feel like in bf3.Racing is more realistic and when you crash the sound and the view make you scream, the hole experience feels better than the first time i played GTA V everything is improved, still has some issues but are minor, come back and edit your character the way you wanted before, if you haven't try it, what are you waiting for? this game cannot get any better, i'm waiting to se what they give us on the next gen, being fully developed for next gen i hope. I feel like it will be the most realistic gta on this console gen. so far this is the most realistic experience i've ever had playing gta, even playing a game, i can only think of The last of us getting close to it.

Perspective of an owner of the PS3 version

I was originally skeptical about paying full price for a rereleased game... but Rockstar definitely delivered! I have played through the game on PS3, so this was an xmas present to myself. First things first, THIS is the real version of GTA 5. The PS3 version worked, but this one really takes it to the Nth degree. More people on the street, more cars in traffic, more little things (animals, blades of grass) in nature. First person perspective changes gameplay a lot, makes the game harder as well (when you're in cover, you can't see enemies), it also makes parallel parking much harder. If you have never played GTA 5, buy this game. If you have played GTA 5 on PS3/360 and liked it, buy this game. If you have played GTA 5 and didn't like it... wait for a sale, then buy this game. The extra polish and attention to detail may sway you.

I rented this game from gamefly almost 2 years ago before getting me pay slim. The switching mechanics were never an issue and there is so much you can get into here. I feels a little different due to adjusting from Xbox to pay controller. The game fun though and there is a lot of things to do outside of the main missions. It can sometimes side track you or just overwhelm you at times. I usually play tennis because there has not been a good tennis game in a long while. But if you look hard enough, there's something for you. I briefly played the online and it's crazy. Starting off broke sucks, so getting a game shark card might work for you. Seeing as RDR2 is coming, I think I heard there won't be any more updates so now is time to get in if you were not an early adopter. Ciao.

This game was epic the first time around, Now that it's been tweeked and improved (some thought that was impossible) it's become a word that hasn't been invented yet that's better than epic. I'm your average GTA fan, no posters, I won't argue with people when they say the series is ok, nothing special but I'll buy them all when they come out given Rockstar's good track record. The difference between the CoD series and the GTA series is that Rockstar actually makes sure they make something better than the last game, and they care about their supporters. Along with this isn't a military game and you don't get perks and you don't quick scope and you don't play it competitively and its not fps UNTIL NOW! The fps upgrade of the game makes the immersion so much better along with the experience. [word not invented yet] GAME!

This game is amazing. Incredible just how large and detailed this open-world concept game really is. You could literally spend a week playing and not really see the entire map! I also enjoy the ability to drive (or fly, or float, or dive) pretty much any vehicle you can see. The police stars system is improved from prior versions as well. It is possible to escape from 4 stars, though its not easy. In the past it seemed like 4 stars was an automatic death sentence. Lastly, I'm going to nitpick and realize that these are not enough to bring this game from 5 to 4 stars: 1) More destructible environments would be nice. 2) More blood and gore would be a plus. 3) Less swearing would be cool (literally every other word seems to be f**k)

In a Nutshell Received mine through BestBuy on Launch Day including receiving my $10 Reward certificate and GTAV pre-order $1,000,000 Bonus. - Not going to bore you with what many should already know about the history of GTA and amount of ingame content this games offers. - Simply this game truly outshines it's former self in almost every way. - The 1st Person Mode is not just a slap together marketing ploy, it truly changes the game in a most satisfying and unexpected ways. that many will come to love , modify and use. - Graphics & ingame Visuals are very much improved - Audio also has been tinkered with, including adding more Radio Songs. Bottom line if you are a PS4 or XB1 owner it's time to gift yourself with a copy, cause GTAV kicks major HEEE-HAWWWW. :)

It looks way better than the PS3 version by far, but some of the controls have changed, like shooting while driving is two buttons instead of one ( same as if you were on foot ). Also, I am going to miss some of the camera phone color filters ( I didn't see any of the ones available in the PS3 version ). Overall the game is a lot harder with the AI traffic constantly cutting you off while traveling to missions, around town, gun battles, etc. I would say the biggest bonus is that Rockstar continues to support new game modes/heists, so that keeps the game "fresh". All in all it still is a smash hit and a huge compliment to the series. I will be looking forward to GTA6, that is, if they develop one.

It's not very often you find a game that lets you do so much and keep you entertained for months to come. I originaly bought this for PS3 when it first came out. Loved it. Since then I bought a ps4 and couldn't resist on picking up GTA5 for the ps4. Traded in the PS3 version, got an additional 50% added to the credit and couldn't be happier. The additions to this version are awesome. Everyone knows about the fps addition, but what some don't know about is the light bar on the controller lights up blue and red when the 5.0 is on you. Or when someone calls you, you hear them through the controllers speaker. It truly does make the experience that much better. Feel bad for the xb1 people as they don't have this option. And if you have both systems, get the ps4 version. You won't regret it!

This game is phenomenal. I'd only played the PS3 version for a short time before picking this up so as to not spoil the experience. The graphics are some of the most beautiful I've ever seen on a console, and the city is so vibrant and full of life that sometimes you feel like you're in a real place. The car mechanics, shooting mechanics, and added first person mode are on point, and the story is full of unique and interesting characters. There are even fun little opportunities on the side like playing tennis or riding a roller coaster. If you haven't played GTA V before, this is a must have. If you've played the PS3 version, there's enough added content and a vast improvement in graphics performance that's it's worth considering double-dipping and buying the next gen version as well.

I played GTAV on 360 when it came out and absolutely loved it. Though the story and gameplay were fantastic, the dated tech of the 360 really held it back from what it truly could have been. Well, now the PS4 can give you what this game tried to be back then. Constant 30fps, incredible detail and a draw distance that will blow your mind all combine to create an entire city and region that actually feel alive. The new first person mode is so well done that I can't even play 3rd person anymore. Just the detail on the inside of the cars with working speedometers is incredible. Rockstar really made a next gen title, not some half-brained port like we're all so accustomed to. I am planning on buying this game for PC when it comes out too just to see it run at 60fps then! Get this game!

Same old GTA, but that's not a bad thing

This is far less innovative than popular opinion on this game may suggest. This is the same old GTA that has been being released since GTA 3 in 1999, the only thing that has changed is the scope and level of detail which have both become incredibly rich. If you're a fan of the series and want more, certainly go on this with this. But if previous installments weren't for you, this version isn't going to win you over. That said, for those uninitiated this is a perfect place to start, and maybe it's not even necessary to look back at the old games unless you're really curious. I previously played this for PS3, but wanted to check out the PS4 version, having read that Cara Delevingne had returned to record a bit more for her in-game radio station, Non-Stop Pop.
