Best game ever made
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.GTAV is overall the greatest game ever made. The story is very engaging and leaves you wanting more. There are countless things to do when not in a mission. There are endless views of the LS and San Andreas skylines which don't disappoint no matter what time of day it is in the game. The cars drive much nicer than in previous GTAs. Also I like that if you die during a mission, you have the option of restarting from a checkpoint so if you're very deep into it you don't have to start completely over. There are three playable main characters, Franklin Clinton, Michael Townley, and Trevor Phillips, which are very all compelling and bring their own special skills such as driving, shooting, and flying. Dogs are in the game, but are not playable. Most notably is Lamar's dog Chop who you can play fetch with whilst controlling Franklin. Also he will protect Franklin by attacking his enemies. You can shoot (or run over) wildlife if you desire, but I don't recommend hitting them whilst on a bike. The only thing I would say could be better about the game in general, is there are occasional glitches such as subtle graphics pop in and I had an issue where Michael's wife got stuck in the front door of the safe house and and the screen started flickering. As a result, Michael temporarily couldn't use that door to go out. Fortunately, there are several other means of going outside, such as the patio doors in back, the garage access, or through the upstairs bathroom window. You cannot go in or out through the chimney like Santa. So in all honesty, you can't do EVERYTHING in GTAV, but it doesn't take away from the fun factor. Also, some of the on screen text is very hard to read because of obscure fonts and generally just very small size type. The phone content is especially hard to read which I found to be annoying. Other than that, the game is still great and the best I've ever played in all my years of gaming. I would give GTAV 97 out 100 Chop treats.

An Amazing addition to an established franchise
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This game is everything you would expect from Rockstar and then some, by some I mean A LOT! just to give you an idea of how large this game is, I so far have only played for 12 hours, completing only 5/69 main missions. The graphics are beautiful and impeccable, the views, scenery and NPC's that you can choose to interact with is hilarious. Depending on which neighborhood your in your always bound to stumble upon something new, secret, or just plain entertaining. The controls are sturdy and smooth, and although at first it may take time getting used to, this game will easily suck a minimum of 50-75 hours of your life and that's not even including the online version which is only being released October 1st. 2 other awesome and handy items Rockstar did was making 2 ipad/iphone apps, one being the manual with a googly style map and ifruit where you train your dog, and customize cars for the ps3 game.

Best game ever.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is by far the best game of the series. Part 4 was a bit of a let-down, especially after the countless hours I invested in San Andreas..and this game has brought back that "San Andreas" feel, as well as attention to detail that has become the GTA standard. I have already spent tens of hours on the game in the past couple days, and I have to even come close to exploring the world in it's entirety. I've had fun just looking around and trying various methods of transportation as well as finding new ways to wreak havoc, and building up my character's skills. The missions so far have proven to be mildly challenging, not too hard, not to easy, but just fun and interesting in general...plus, the story itself is immersive in that twisted GTA sense. I love this game and look forward to the many more hours of entertainment it will provide me and I am very satisfied with this purchase.

This is THE game to play this year, bar none!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is THE game to play and I just can't stop singing GTA V's prasies. Amazing gameplay, the music is perfect as always, its the best GTA game ever made. Game of the Year hands down. The graphics are ultra realistic, there are some times where it literally looks like you're really there. Fantastic atmosphere, even when just playing side jobs and crusing around. You just can't not have fun playing this. I would recommend this to anyone. Being able to customize your cars and clothes, buying stocks on your smartphone, there's so much more to this game than meets the eye. Buy it, rent it, borrow it, just get your hands on it and play it. You will Not be sorry.

Awesome game for thrill seeker's
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is the best game they have put out so far. Once you start the fun don't stop. There is so much to do on there you may lose your social life for awhile. I'm looking forward to gta6. No complaints here. I just wish I can add my own content to the game how I want my world to be. It would be nice if xbox and ps3 players can play in one worlds on the map altogether at once.

Kicking butt
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The storyline is the best part of this game, I always liked the weaponry and the explosions are very good! Having three characters to choose from throughout the game is definitely a refreshing change. The vehicle customization could be a little better but it's satisfying nonetheless.

Exciting...but lots of glitches
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. So excited for the GTA 5 to finally be here, however, there are lots of glitches. If you leave your car, it will disappear. Also, the online gaming option is inoperable; this is what I was looking forward to. Nonetheless, the new characters keep the storyline interesting. Hopefully the updates come soon.

A solid improvement over GTAIV
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I've gotten about 50% off the way through GTA V, I'm not sure the total time played because I'll pause and do something else for an hour or so and come back. Maybe around 15 hours or so of playtime. It's already in this early stage a complete improvement over GTAIV for me personally. I don't believe I even got through 50% of that game. The combination of the "friends" wanting to hang out and the annoying driving physics being such a change from the overly arcade style of San Andres just turned me off. While thus far in GTAV I've yet to resort to calling a taxi to try to bypass the need to drive. One thing that is a bit annoying is cars on the road and some objects on the side of the road seem to have unreasonably high resistance. Where they act like multiple ton boulders instead of cars. For example if you want to push a car out of the way at a red light, you'll find you'll just smoke your tires and the car will barely budge. I've had a few times where driving through, I'll get in a wreck, end up sandwiched between two cars and despite flooring it can't budge the cars I'm stuck between. I'll get out, steal one, back them up and get back into my car. A minor annoyance, but it is not something that's detracted me from joyriding yet. At this point in the game I've only done one heist, a robbery on a jewelry store. The first one you do you only have two characters unlocked and works out quite well between the two. Each had their own defined role and it made logical sense when you'd switch between them. The heist itself was pretty simple and straightforward but had a very fun escape sequence that involved riding a motorcycle through tunnels. The story of the game is beginning to ramp up, but at this point, it hasn't been overly engaging. Perhaps this is the fault of the multiple protagonist, perhaps it's just because it's early in the game. There is enough to suggest a grander storyline that I'm not willing to write it off yet, but as it stands effectively everyone is a stereotype, especially the side-characters. It's difficult to truly care about anyone at this point. The side activities are there, but as expected didn't quite match the hype. Tennis doesn't have the fluidity or control of say, Virtua tennis. It feels slowed down and smaller comparatively. You still have your assortment of shot types and you can control where they go, but it's just not as engaging. While the 9 holes of golf is no comparison to a tiger woods game. It doesn't account for splice when taking your shot making it much easier to get to the green. While early on, I'm finding it harder to read the green than in a tiger woods game. Both sports are fun, but after doing them once I've felt no compelling reason to go back to them. The physical activities, like biking/races largely revolve around mashing the x button. I haven't yet gotten to exploring the sea or trying to hike the mountains. While flying a plane is quite fun if landing is quite difficult. Flying a helicopter is significantly less fun. All in all the game is very enjoyable despite the flaws listed. The missions have variety. It doesn't feel like it's all drive to point A across the map and return to point B on the other side of the map as GTAIV often felt like.

Must own game for all gamers
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Grand Theft Auto has always been a step above all other open world games; however, GTA V has leaped ahead of the pack. If you are reading this then you have probably already read all of the reviews and maybe even made a decision to purchase it. This is most likely the final step before actually going out and picking up a copy. This will definitely be one of the best video game investments that you have ever made. GTA V is one of those games that I did not mind paying full price for because it is a game that will keep me busy during my free time for at least 3 months. Whether you are looking for a game that will satiate your gaming hunger until the release of the next generation consoles or simply a game that will reinvigorate your admiration of the current generation consoles GTA V is the game for you. It begins with an interesting sequence that immediately throws you into the action. It gives you an early feel for the controls before the main story; this prelude serves as a brief but welcomed introduction to the seemingly main protagonist. In any case be aware that the game begins at full throttle as far as the violence and profanity is concerned. Once the main story begins you will be securely holding on to your controller with a partial smile that will evolve into a giggle or two. As you are probably already aware the map is fully open to players with a type of shroud of darkness or "fog-of-war" covering it so that there is still a sense of curiosity to try and see as much as you can as early as you can. I found myself wanting to uncover as much of the map as early as possible but the missions kept me coming back. I did not want to leave the area where all of the initial missions are located so I stayed in the vicinity. This has held true to the present and in my case I believe that this is one of the things that is keeping me glued to my screen. The game is realistic enough to be impressive but it also revisits some of the insanity that was GTA: San Andreas on PS2. This strikes a nice balance and keeps the player returning for more. Even if you are a non-gamer I believe you will like the experimentation that GTA V allows for because you never have to complete any mission since the map is open from the beginning. I realized this when I returned from walking my dogs and my wife had picked up the controller, that I left on the living room table, to play the game. She does not enjoy most video games in the least but she was loudly laughing by herself while she ran around punching and kicking people and objects in order to get reactions from Los Santos' inhabitants. The fact that my wife liked the game is the number one reason I love this video game.

Multiple designer style games rolled into one.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Grand Theft Auto was a pioneer in gaming since the emergence of the PC. I remember playing the 2D, overhead view GTA on our family PC when I was around 10-12 years old. As a very young child I was quite amazed by the concept. It gave you the freedom to live a reckless life without consequence in a sense. GTA evolved into a 3D, RPG, New York based MOB concept. Just like all of the great American MOB movies we loved as kids... Then there was Vice City... Vice City, Cocain Cowboys, Scarface... Growing up as a Scarface fan in the Great State of Florida, Vice City was their first Master Piece. You can purchase property, there are helicopters, and the story line's foundation mirrored that of the Al Pacino film character - Scarface. It was perfection. San Andreas brought in a new aspect of real life into the reality of gaming. Street Gangs, pimped out street cars, mountains, desert, and the beach. You could go to the horse races and win millions just like that. You could go to the airfield in the desert, chase down the vatos with your grove street homies, and get swoll at the gym. GTA went from New York MOB based, to Miami Vice Cocaine Wars, to the streets of L.A. I mean "San Andreas". Although San Andreas was not a complete replication of LA, it was at the time. Then you have Niko Bellic. The preliminary taste to Los Santos./ Driving features, shooting features, and graphic features all greatly increased with the release of GTA IV. The activity within GTA IV was limited to the masterful story line of Niko Bellics search for Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of revenge. The game was limited to the greatness of the storyline, but understandably so. As the true and absolute recreation of Los Angeles was in the works. GTA V. The masterpiece of complexity within gaming. Gameception. First person Shooter, Need for Speed, RPG, freelance game, stock markets, parachuting, hiding from the cops in plain sight. Whatever you want you pretty much got it. GTA V is the picaso of gaming creation. Every detail down to the spray painted walls was carefully and correctly considered. Now enjoy yourself as you experience the true power of game creation at its best. --- Don't forget this was all done on the PS3 with downloadable content. Imagine the future of the PS4 and GTA.

Excellent way to close out current-gen
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.GTA V was worth the wait. It takes all of the best from GTA IV and previous installments and then refines or improves what didn't work in earlier games. GTA V leaves everything we have come to enjoy about Rockstar's unique approach to open-world games, while adding a much more polished and refined overall product. What we are left with is a game of incredible detail and scope, and most of it works well. This is credit to an approach of taking the time to truly create an experience to define a generation of gaming, instead of rushing a product to launch every holiday season. GTA V really pushes the limits to what is possible with the current generation of hardware, and with the upcoming GTA Online, truly feels like an ideal segway into the next generation of consoles. From minimal load times to graphichs vastly improved from 2008's GTA IV, I can hope that this is a sign of things to come when my PS4 arrives in November. Until then, GTA V will be the perfect way to wait. Positives: + Exceptional graphics and sound - the best you will find on this generation of systems + Re-worked mechanics - better driving, gunplay, menus - everything + An open world that creates an atmosphere like nothing else in games -- few details are missed. + Introduction of multiple characters means a unique gaming experience and incredible variety every time you play. Negatives: - While mostly entertaining, the social commentary can get a little too over the top at times. - This is still GTA V, and for better or worse, at times the missions are a bit too silly/scripted.
