    Great on the surface, but...returned product

    I bought the Jitterbug Flip for my dad who has severe essential tremors in both hands - much like shaking from Parkinson's. We needed large buttons and simple usage. I thought this would be a slam dunk. He had been using a 15+ year old Samsung flip with small buttons and the quality/performance was waning so we wanted to get him something better even though he hates changes. He reluctantly agreed to go with Jitterbug, but do yourself a favor and read this review before diving in! 1. Do NOT 'port' current mobile number to Jitterbug phone until you TRY THE JITTERBUG with it's assigned number first! Seems like common sense, but I wasn't aware that could be done. I thought you needed to switch everything over then use the phone. I made a major error and ported his AT&T number to Jitterbug then long story short, we needed to get his original AT&T service back so it took HOURS to unwind. Very stressful. Thankfully we worked in person with an AT&T manager and he was super helpful with the whole thing. 2. Bluetooth in dad's 2017 Cadillac CTS didn't work with Jitterbug. Incoming calls made the Jitterbug freeze and outbound calls were not possible using the car's hands free option. I talked to experts from Jitterbug and Cadillac -- nobody knew how to help. During the bluetooth test in his car, the Jitterbug phone "froze" and went dark. I couldn't disconnect an incoming call nor could I power cycle the Jitterbug. At that point I was done and knew I'd return the Jitterbug because Bluetooth is completely unreliable and that was a deal-breaker. 3. My dad didn't like Yes and No buttons on the Jitterbug -- they aren't color coded either. He is used to a green Send button and red End button. It wasn't as intuitive and Jitterbug should consider color-coding those buttons. 4. I know he liked the larger numbers, but that was about it. Scrolling through the menu was actually very complex and required many clicks to select certain things. I was shocked given this is designed for elderly people. 5. Note: GreatCall charges $3/month for voicemail. That wasn't disclosed to me when I chose his service plan which was the cheapest one available at $14.99/month. So all in with the service plan, voicemail and taxes it would be about $25/month for the dirt cheap plan. 6. If you want voice command dialing it's only activated by GreatCall customer service. You cannot set it up yourself. Moral of this story -- TRY THE PHONE first with the assigned number and get to know all the features and usability before changing your current service to Jitterbug. It will save you a ton of time and stress. The phone was returned 2 days ago.

    RUN DON'T WALK AWAY FROM THIS PHONE! This has to be the WORST PHONE on the planet!!! Bought this for an elderly person but it's far worse than what they had. The plans and box it comes in is VERY DECEIVING.....That red EMERGENCY 5* button they tout in their advertisements? ......COSTS EXTRA!! EVERYTHING COSTS EXTRA! Phone (bluetooth) will NOT pair with car even though they said it would. Have tried and had many others try but to no avail. Also, cannot even use the phone in the house and when it has a "tinny" sound if/when it does work. Wish we had returned but it's too late so I think we'll just throw it in the lake!
