Hello Disappointed - Thank you for taking the time to share your experience. We are concerned to read that you are feeling let down by this Lawn Mower! There are a couple of points that you have mentioned that we would like to address. It is important to recognize that the run time depends on the load acting against the unit and fluctuates depending on the height setting, the terrain, grass height, type of grass, whether you are mulching, operator technique, etc. - there are so many factors to consider. The harder the unit must work, the quicker the battery charge will drain. Similar to how the gas in a vehicle will deplete quicker when driving at higher speeds or carrying more weight.

Here are a few tips to extend your run time!
1) When cutting thick grass, reduce walking speed in order to allow for a more effective cut and a proper discharge of the clippings.
2) Only mow 1/3 of the total grass length at a time - no more. For a healthy lawn, always cut off one-third or less of the total length of the grass. The average lawn should be approximately 1 1/2 to 2” (3.8 to 5 cm) long during cool months, and between 2" to 3 1/4" (5 cm to 8.3 cm) long during hot months.
3) Mow when the grass is dry. As this is an electric unit, mowing wet/damp grass is a safety issue. However, ensuring the grass is dry will also help the grass cut cleanly and discharge appropriately. Wet/damp grass carries more weight and will mostly stick to the blade/motor shaft and will not appropriately discharge or cut easily.
4) Make sure the battery is cool before use. When the battery will not be in use, we suggest storing it indoors, in a cool dry area - away from direct sunlight. Leave the charger unplugged and the battery disconnected from the charger unless it needs charging.
5) Only use the self-propelled feature when needed. Self-propelled mowers do use more battery than standard push mowers as more power is being demanded from the battery to run the blades and the wheels. We hope these tips will help! If the battery has been recently used and you put it on the charger to charge it may need to be cooled for a few minutes before you can charge it. Allow it to rest at room temperature and try again. If you have left the charger plugged in this whole time you may need to reset the charger. Simply disconnect, leave for 1 minute and plug it in again, this step may need to be done 1-2 times before reset occurs. Ensure both batteries are charged 100%. If each battery has a different charge state, the run-time of the machine is subject to the lowest powered battery (For example: one battery is charged 100%, and the other is charged 50%, the unit will only run until the 50% battery is depleted). We're sorry to hear you're unhappy with the runtime. The runtime is up to 45 minutes when used with 2 x 5.0Ah Batteries. The runtime advertised is based off of ideal conditions which is industry standard numbers. Depending on your grass condition and using the self-propelled option the 20 minutes is within the the expected range. The battery charge time is also correct and comparable to all over battery operated mower units on the market.
