Customers commend the 80 Volt 21-Inch Self-Propelled Lawn Mower for its extended battery life, easy handling, self-propelled feature, and quiet operation. They appreciate the convenience of not having to deal with gas and oil, and many find the assembly process straightforward.
However, a few customers express frustration with the warranty process, describing it as convoluted and opaque.

Great mower but could be even better

I really like this mower. I mow about an acre and I am able to do it all on 2 batteries unless the grass is super long. Very quiet, plenty of speed choices. Turbo mode automatically kicks in when needed.
The only thing that isn't great is that the grass isn't thrown very far with the stock blade and fan combo and there are no blades or other fan options available that I can find- even on Greenworks site. I did install a universal blade that threw the grass much farther but I went through batteries at twice the normal rate so not a good option. I hope Greenworks is working on a better combo.

I've used gas-powered, push lawn mowers all my life. After all those years pushing the mower while breathing in its fumes, I decided to try an electric, self-propelled unit.
I seriously love this Greenworks lawn mower! It makes the job more like an enjoyable walk instead of a task I don't look forward to. I take full advantage of the self-propelled engine most of the time. The mower is lighter than my gas-powered unit, so pushing it is easier, too.
My front and backyards are about 160 square yards combined. It takes me about 20 minutes to mow it all in the mulch setting; a bit more time if I'm using the grass catcher and emptying it periodically. And I can mow the front and back about 2 times on a single charge.

First, great price and fast delivery. Easy set up and clear directions for mower and battery. Blade cutting height easy to adjust while mowing. Mower is powerful, especially with turbo feature to get thru tough places. Battery has more than enough endurance for the 0.28 acre of lawn I mow. Rear grass catcher ideal size for me. Speed control and battery level display well placed.

I've been fighting with my old ... "red" gasoline mower for the last two seasons. I've tried cleaning it, sharpening the blade, its self propelled mode just isn't what I recall it to be. I used to finish my yard 45m then clean up, being done in about an hour. More recently it's been taking more like 90m. My wife suggested I start earlier so I can be ready in 2h (grrr). She also pointed out that our neighbor has a corded electric and loves it. I pointed out that we have islands of bushes and gardens that they don't so for me having a cord seemed like such a hassle. She also pointed out that we have solar, so an electric mower would essentially be free (once paid for). Well I ventured off to my local home improvement store. And talked to a sales person, they essentially recommended one of two brands, but for battery life they thought I'd be most happy with Greenworks lawn mower. Too bad they didn't have any in stock, and it would take 2-3 weeks to get one delivered. Out came my phone and I found that my local BB not only carried them, they had them in stock. I'd made up my mind, so I promptly went home to consult with my wife.
My first impression is they thought of just about everything, this mower can easily be converted from mulching, to side output to rear bagging. Second, what a big battery it has (see image next to a 6 pack of coke). But it also has a head light; I've always thought mowing as the sun is setting would be convenient. And except for riding mowers, push gasoline mowers just never seemed to have them (I know my "red" one didn't). And this greenworks Pro, makes it easy to adjust the wheels for cut height, easy to change the angle of the push arms, and easy to control the speed (more on that shortly). I'm guessing it's 40-50% lighter than my old "red" mower. The battery took about an hour to fully charge (charger has a fan which whirls while charging), when the whirling stops the battery is charged.
Now what surprised me the most, my old red self propelled mower has one speed (not fast enough). This Greenworks pro offers multiple settings from "tortoise" mode (the slowest) to "jack rabbit" mode. In the fastest mode the mower will give you a bit of a workout. You're not exactly jogging, but more like speed walking, but if your hands fall off the speed controls you catch up immediately. So wanting a challenge I tried using it at full speed all the time; on straight sections, no problems, but when taking corners, full speed is just not possible (for me). Once you turn it on, the controls are pretty intuitive. You have to hold the start button down for a couple of seconds to get it to start, when starting the speed controls are disengaged (a smart safety procedure). In the battery compartment there is a plastic "key" that prevents use when the key is not in place. If you have kids that might "play" with... things, best to take this with you when you finish. Because this mower is so much lighter than my old mower, it kind of feels like it's pulling me along (especially up a slope). Once you get a feel for things it is quite comfortable to use. The back clippings bag is very easy to get on and off, I'd suggest not over filling. One thing to note is the handle on the bag is black. I first used it on a day that was about 100 out (in AZ, it's pretty normal), and the handle got pretty hot from the sun (more reason to mow at dusk).
Well I finished in 35 minutes, next time I can probably get done in 30 (less learning to do). The battery indicator was only down to 50%. I didn't find out exactly how long they would last, but their 1 hour estimate seems about right. I did have to catch my breath a couple of times (but exercise is good, right?) The mower folds up very easily (the two green plastic cutouts on the arms, disengage the handle so it's easy to fold up. I'm so glad it has a full 21" cut path, some of the corded mowers are only 14" wide. This mower is very powerful for being battery powered, a good combination. I love the power of its self propulsion.
I have nothing but praise for this current generation lawn mower; I wish I'd not delayed the purchase, on the other hand I'm glad to have this new 80 volt version.

I’ve used it 4 times. Battery last as long as states in the description. Cutting blades are very good. Adjustable height is accurate. Very easy to use. I do store the battery and charger in my house and not in the hot garage. That is the recommended way. So we will see in a year how well this holds up!

I have arthritis so pulling motion to start hurts my shoulders. I was also tired of having to get gas/oil. Love this mower. Light. Easy to maneuver and mulches better than my gas mower. I own 2 of the snower blowers too. Long battery run time. Self propelled with adjustable speed and turbo mode for leaf pick up. Comes with bag. 80 volt way to go. My neighbor will be switching over to this awesome machine. Will never go back to gas.

I purchased this to replace my gas mower, and like my other Greenworks 80 Volt yard tools, this thing is a beast. Very well designed, very well made, great features, easy to operate. It's exactly what I needed and was hoping for. The bonus was that Best Buy had the best price by a good margin.

Always had a gas mower, and now I can't imagine going back. Push the button and it goes (much more quietly too.) I have a small yard. I've already cut the lawn 3 times and the charge has only gone down to half, and the first time the grass was tall. It's a keeper.

Powerful 80V motor doesn't bog down in normal grass. Side discharge shoots clippings evenly in a narrow strip so one must carefully plan overlapping cuts to spread the clippings evenly around the lawn. Quiet operation. Battery recharges in less than an hour so you can cut any size lawn with just two batteries. Self-propelled speed is very difficult to fine tune with the lever. Overall a very good investment particularly if you plan to buy other 80V tools. Greenworks customer support has been good at replacing defective charger etc. over the years.

I love my Greenworks mower! The turbo feature made light work of my overgrown back yard (so much rain lately!). It's also quiet and clean. No gas or oil to deal with. No leaking onto the garage floor. Finally, I appreciate the capaciousness of the grass bag. I can fit all my clippings in one go.

I needed a mower that I could easily lift and place in the trunk of my car to mow a rural lot. Without the battery and bag attached, it is easy to do by one person. As an added bonus, the 80v 4 amp battery gives me a 1 hour self-propelled mow time. Much better than I expected. Highly recommended. Best buy purchase was excellent as well.

Greenworks - 80-Volt 21-Inch Self-Propelled Lawn Mower with 4.0Ah Battery and Charger.
I like this mower a lot. I initially purchased a competitors version but returned it because it was too fast even at the slowest speed setting. I couldn't keep up with it.
This mower is just right at slowest speed setting. I doup the speed setting in thick grass. I have St. Augustine which is very thick in parts of the lawn. The mower
automatically increases speed in thick grass and returns to the speed you set in thinner grass.
It comes with 1 battery but I purchased another 80 volt 4Ah, and also an 80 volt 2Ah. Depending on how tall the grass
gets I use all three batteries. I always have to use the second 4Ah battery to cut the front lawn.
The mower is fairly maneuverable but I use a battery operated push mower on my back lawn. To disengage the self propelled mechanism on the Greenworks mower after you let go of the speed lever you push
forward, then you can pull backwards. The back lawn is full of trees so I prefer a
basic push mower around the trees
