Hello jp49 - Electric snow shovels come in a variety of styles and sizes, but they all work on the same basic principle. As you move the electric snow shovel forward, a plastic auger scoops up snow and flings it forward – usually about fifteen or twenty feet forward. This gets rid of the need to bend over and scoop up snow yourself, let alone throw it. Clearing snow is practically as easy as vacuuming a rug with an electric snow shovel. Adjusting the handle can provide a better balance, this will help evenly distribute the weight between the battery and the base and should hopefully assist in a more enjoyable user experience. We strive to provide a quality product and a great customer service encounter please contact us at your earliest convenience to see how we can help. We can be reached directly through chatbot on www.greenworkstools.com that will direct you to a live agent or call us on Greenworks Pro toll-free helpline at 1-855-345-3934. This unit has a start of an idea that goes in the right direction. However how it sits it needs much more work. Unit can be heavy to move around. My battery stuck in the box where the battery goes. All snow hit me back, did not throw snow out. If you adjust the unit it does not help. Had better luck with my regular shovel. It really is not any quicker to get the job done. Save your money. Not worth the over 200 plus dollars. More worth 50 dollars if its lucky. No chance for Recommendation

Hello LBDAPENGUIN. Thank you for sharing your experience with the 80V snow shovel. We appreciate your feedback and are sorry to hear the unit did not meet your expectations. This model uses fixed directional vanes rather than a chute, and snow should be directed forward when the auger is fully engaged, and the shovel is kept at the correct angle during operation. If snow is blowing back toward you, it may indicate the operating height or angle needs adjustment, or that the snow is too heavy, wet, or compacted for this style of snow shovel. We can also help troubleshoot the battery sticking in the compartment to ensure it inserts and releases smoothly. We would like the chance to assist further and make sure your unit is functioning properly. Please reach out to our customer success team via Live Chat at www.greenworkstools.com or call 1-888-909-6757, and we would be glad to help.

I’m happy with my purchase. I was completely shocked at how easy it was to use and how quickly I cleared the snowed from my drive way and sidewalk. Only con is the I had to keep lifting it up so it faced the direction I wanted the snow to go. After a while that was tiring but overall very pleased.

Easy to assemble.
It was only used once to clean the sidewalk, which was a lot
easier than by hand with a shovel.

This snow shovel is too heavy!. The battery which sits at the top isn't heavy but the motor and paddles are. I've used a corded snow shovel for the past 20+ years and except for the inconvenience of having an extension cord, that isn't particularly flexible in cold weather, the unit was lighter, better balanced and easy to use. To its credit, the Greenworks is quieter, however. I've used a corded power shovel for over 20 years so I'm aware of how to use it and of the limitations. I've used it primarily on the patio and on the the rear pathway where it is actually necessary to throw the snow forward due to the house being on the right and a fence on the left. But this shovel made my arm ache after 5 minutes of use. The corded model of a different brand never left me in pain even after 20 minutes of use. I also wasn't expecting the charger to make noise. It sounds like a hair dryer when it's charging the battery, but the battery does charge fully in 30 minutes and the instruction manual says it doesn't have a memory so you can charge it repeatedly when it is partly discharged without negatively affecting it. I really wanted to like this power shovel, but after 5 minutes with it, I realized that it just wasn't going to work for me.

Hello Busbsy. We appreciate you taking the time to review this product. We are sorry to hear that you are not completely satisfied with this unit’s weight. With the 2.0AH battery installed, this unit weighs 19.6lbs in total, while the corded 8 Amp snow shovel weighs 20.10 lbs. Adjusting the handle can provide a better balance, this will help evenly distribute the weight between the battery and the base and should hopefully assist in a more enjoyable user experience. The charger fan is essential to maintain the battery's health by preventing excessive heat buildup during rapid charging. A noticeable fan noise is considered normal for most high-power battery chargers. They will shut down once it senses the internal battery thermometer is room temperature (so possibly not as soon as charging is complete – depends on battery temperature). If the fan suddenly becomes significantly louder than usual we recommend contacting Greenworks by Live chat on (www.greenworkstools.com) or at 1-855-345-3934. Wo our experts can discuss your experience!

I thought it would make shoveling easier, but tried it and was exhausted pushing this electric shovel. Plus, it is plastic and I am trying to avoid so much plastic. My driveway is gravel and this shovel isn't recommended for gravel. Shoveling without electricity is quieter and less complicated so I may return it.

Hello LakesideF. Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We are sorry to hear that the 80V 12" Snow Shovel with 2.0 Ah battery did not meet your expectations in terms of weight and ease of use. This model is built for increased power and durability, which can make it feel heavier, especially with the battery installed compared with lower-voltage snow tools. If weight and operator effort are primary concerns, an 80V snow thrower may be a better option. They are designed to operate on wheels and push across the ground rather than being lifted during use. This difference in operation can significantly reduce physical strain compared to a snow shovel. For comparison: 80V Cordless Snow Shovel (with battery): Typically weighs approx. 25–30+ lbs. and must be lifted, guided, and supported by the user throughout operation, which can feel tiring over time. 80V Cordless Snow Thrower: Typically weighs approx. 40–60+ lbs., but the weight is supported by the wheels. The user primarily guides and pushes the unit, allowing the auger to do the work of clearing snow with less lifting effort. While the snow shovel may appear lighter on paper, the repeated lifting and forward motion can feel more demanding than guiding a wheeled snow thrower, particularly for larger areas or heavier snow. We appreciate your feedback and encourage customers to select the product best suited to their clearing needs and comfort level. If additional assistance is needed, our customer success team is available to help. They can be reached either using the online chat function, on Greenworks Tools page, accessible by clicking “Chat Now” in the bottom corner of your screen, Chat with a Live Agent or by calling 1-888-909-6757.

Too heavy and awkward to engage trigger and balance the weight too. A cushioned shoulder strap may have helped?
A 12” wide swath is too small a cleaning area to do a driveway.
Wheels on the unit would have allowed easier maneuvering of the unit. Quality workmanship but more like a “Prototype” the battery is between 4 to 4.5 lbs alone.

Hello RglennS. Thank you for taking the time to share your detailed feedback. We’re sorry to hear that the weight, balance, and overall ergonomics of the 80V 12" Cordless Brushless Snow Shovel did not meet your expectations. We understand how challenging it can be to use a unit that feels awkward to handle, especially during extended snow-clearing tasks. Your suggestions regarding a cushioned shoulder strap, added wheels for easier maneuverability, and a wider clearing path are thoughtful and constructive. While the unit is designed for lighter, targeted snow removal rather than full driveway clearing, we understand how that may not have been clear or suitable for your needs. We appreciate your recognition of the build quality and thank you for providing such thorough, experience-based feedback. If you ever have specific questions or concerns about our products, contact Greenworks via Live chat on our website (www.greenworkstools.com), call us at 1-888-909-6757 (1-888-90WORKS) or refer to the FAQ ask section of the tool or ask us a question, anytime.

This hand held snow blower is easy to use and works efficiently. I live in Alaska and we have had a record amount of snow this winter. It is much easier to remove snow from our deck and other areas where a larger machine is impractical.

Way overpriced. It's powerful but it gets caught on everything. The "shovel" is soft plastic and I don't think it would last more than a couple of seasons unless you are only using it to push nice powder off your deck / driveway.
I love greenworks but this concept is a fail and unfortunately you may just want a regular shovel or a brush attachment for your weed eater.

Hello PaulSCoder. Thank you for your review. Using the snow shovel is one of the easiest ways to shovel your deck, patio and sidewalk. If there is a lip or an uneven section the scraper may catch on this, our blades are made of is polyethylene which is a durable material that is resistant to wear and tear and can last a long time under normal use. You will want to raise up the scraping edge a bit if you notice an uneven section on your deck, patio or sidewalk to avoid the blade from catching. If you ever have specific questions or concerns about our products, contact Greenworks via Live chat on our website (www.greenworkstools.com), call us at 1-888-909-6757 (1-888-90WORKS) or refer to the FAQ ask section of the tool or ask us a question, anytime.

Serious love hate relationship with this shovel. The battery charges to full incredibly fast as advertised. And the shovel shoots out beautifully! Buuuuuut…the one and only flaw I had with this shovel is in order to be able to push this along the path and get to dig into the snow, I had to bend over uncomfortably. If I stand straight (I’m 6’2”), the bottom edge of the shovel digs downward into the ground. If it had a sloped edge that you could just slide along the path, this shovel would be perfect. I watched the video of a man using this on his deck…had none of my problems. I didn’t try this on the deck. I used this on a dirt walkway and a gravel driveway.
I went ahead and spent an additional $100 for the battery operated snow blower. The wheels will make all the difference.

Hello mces. Thank you for taking the time to share your experience. We are sad to hear you are not happy with the Shovel. This unit ergonomic was designed to eliminates back strain, with an adjustable auxiliary for a more comfortable fit. To adjust the handle, loosen the bolts until the auxiliary handle is no longer secured. Move the auxiliary handle to the height you prefer, make sure the raised points on the auxiliary handle are aligned with the groove on one side of the handle shaft. Once the handle is set to desired setting, tighten the bolts with a Phillips screwdriver until auxiliary handle is secured. Lastly, We do not recommend the use of any Greenworks shovel or single-stage snow thrower on gravel or crushed rock surface. Hope this information helpful.
