Good case with a few tweaks

Having 2 toddlers I was in need of a protective case that could withstand drops. I decided to try the Survivor because it was available in a color (the other brand had only black available at Best Buy), it seemed to offer good all around protection and I thought the kids would enjoy the clip that could be used as a kickstand. I also wanted to give this a try because having owned the other brand in the past I didn't really care for how flimsy the port covers were because they ended up tearing off. What I don't like: - The tape that goes over the earpiece and microphone distorts sound- easy fix, just take it off - The screen protector goes over the camera on the face of the phone and distorts the color slightly. I plan on making my husband cut out that small rectangular section of the screen cover which will solve the above problem as well. - It isn't horrible but I wish the screen cover was a little more snug around the edges because I have to push just a little harder if trying to touch something in the corner. What I like: - The fit of the port covers, they stay secure in place and open easily but not too easily. I don't feel like they are going to fall off easily like the ones on a previous case I owned. - The way the screen cover goes on prevents anything from getting inside. It snaps over the top so nothing can seep through the seams. Great if you have kids that suck on the phone :) Mine have outgrown this but it is good for people to know because it does happen. With my old case I'd often find the moisture got inside and I would have to remove my device and clean/dry the inside of the case as well as the device itself. - The color of the case is way better than the picture seen here. Perhaps the photo was taken with the screen cover over the camera and it distorted the color? :) It is not the dull pink that I expected when I opened the case which was good for me! It is far more attractive than I had imagined. Things that should be mentioned: - It is non-slip and protects my phone really well, the added bulk from a protective case is to be expected but the design of the case at least gives a slimmer less boxy appearance. - I can't speak for the functionality of the clip as I don't use the clip at all. The phone can be placed face up or face down if you choose to use it. The kids enjoy the kickstand option when watching a show on the phone and it seems to function well for that. - The flip cover for the camera was one of the features that had me wondering if I'd like this case at all, I take TONS of pictures. So far I have not found it to be an issue, I just leave it flipped open so it is always ready. In the future I may just cut it off, it wouldn't be difficult to do but I do like the fact that if I drop the phone with the camera flipped open it closes on impact. I don't like that I had to cover up my pretty pink iPhone 5c with anything but since it needed to happen I think I made the best choice based on what is out there right now.

While this case will definitely protect your phone from shocks, impacts, and drops as well as ambient moisture like rain and spray, it has some definite drawbacks. I purchased it because I had the same case on my iPad Mini and liked it very much. However, the iPhone version does not measure up. For starters, the waterproof integrity is spoiled by a very clear hole in the headphone jack cover flap. If everything has a watertight design, why not that? But worse is the primary button cover. It stands proud from the case surface, which makes it very easy to press the iPhone's primary button... a bit too easy, however. If you have Siri or voice recognition/activation enabled, this becomes a problem. Many times I had my phone in this case in my pocket, and when I knelt down, the simple tension from my pants pocket pressed and held the primary button and activated Siri. The case also enlarges your phone's profile significantly, so carrying it in your pocket becomes uncomfortable in any case. It does come with a belt clip attachment if you prefer. All in all, I would not recommend it.

Very protective. My kids got otterboxes, one is the defender and the outside shell broke in 3 days, plus their shipping took forever, although they did replace it. This is more protective than the defender, it covers everything, but you can also get to those things (camera, ports). I've had mine a couple months and so far, so good. I tried one in the store and I couldn't hear on it, but decided to buy the other one left on the shelf thinking that I could poke pinholes in the ear part if I needed to, but this one works great, so if you get one where you can't hear, return it and try another in the store. There is a protective tape over the ear part and I guess they're hit and miss. So far, no complaints - knock on wood! Also, I don't think they tell you this, but the holster can be used as a stand in a locked position and also will snap closed on a belt or in my case, a pocket.

I've owned other protective cases for my iPhones, but wanted to try this one for its total cover of camera lens and ports, which it does a fantastic job of...in fact a little TOO well. The thickness of the rubber compound hinders the microphone and I am often told that when speaking directly into the phone it "sounds like you are talking under water." If I hold the little headphone jack cover , that also covers the mic, open the problem is solved. The problem requires the use of either a Bluetooth or wired headset to make the case practical for actually talking on the phone. The case clip covers the charging port so only good for use with charged phone. I know this sounds weird because why would you need to charge your phone if it's in the clip...well...the clip works great as a stand also on a nightstand...on the plane...in the car when using phone as GPS, but requires you to be on battery.

Bottom line: Good case for protecting the 5C. My first negative comment is that the rubber cover over the camera is a real pain to slide out of the way. Most of the time I need to get a pen, paper clip, or come other slender object to try to pry it up enough to be able to slide it out of the way. The second negative is that although it comes with a belt clip (my main purpose in getting this model), it has some issues when trying to attach the phone. Unfortunately, the upper and lower shell casings come together at the same point that you need to attach the phone to the belt clip and sometimes when removing from the belt clip it causes the two shell casings to come apart. If you don't catch this, the front cover will come off enough that the touchscreen will not work until you squeeze it back together again. Kind of a nuisance.

Needed a really sturdy case, and this case is really great in that regard. I do find the design of the holster a bit awkward, but I got used to it. I rely like how the screen cover is solid , not allowing any dust in. Unfortunaty, the microphone is also covered, which makes having a phone call extremely awkward. It makes your voice muffled. Even peeling back the speaker covers didn't work sufficiently, and I finally had to cut them off . It still covers some of the speakers though. I would have to really mutilate the case in order to fix this completely. I have resorted to using a Bluetooth headset. Pretty disappointing for the price I paid for this case. There just are not too many options for the iPhone 5c.

I bought this case for my 5c because the Otterbox cases are not out yet. I love the protection it offers, but I started talking on it and EVERY person I spoke to kept asking me to repeat myself. Not to mention it was fuzzy on my end too. There is black tape that covers the speakers for added protection I guess. Even if you would remove it, the noise canceling microphone is still covered up. So essentially this case is useless and will be returned. I will wait for an Otterbox to come out.

I tried this case out ONLY because the OtterBox does not make a Camo case for the IPhone 5C. Although I still want a Camo case, I definitely do not regret buying this one. I've had the high end life proof cases down to the low end Speck case. This Survivor case is definitely very comparable to the OtterBox. I have tested it multiple times by dropping it from 6 feet in the air. Mostly on accident, but when I first bought it I wanted to see if it lived up to its claim. It certainly does. I have zero complaints about this case. I recommend it to anyone who wants to spend less than an OtterBox and still have the same protection.

I use this case to carry my I phone on the motorycycle as a passenger of course. I put a cord thru the belt clip and wrap it around twice and secure the clip. Then I can put it around my neck and use it when I want to. It is great. That way I have a camera readily available. Can use the GPS and read messages etc. It is a heavy duty rubber. I do not use the clear screen that comes with it. A little hard to hit the area near to the frame of the case with the screen on. Works great without it. If you drop the phone (not from the bike of course - I don't want to find out) it seems VERY well protected in normal dropping.

I needed something that will protect my phone from dusty to wet environments, and be able to take a beating. This case seems like it will do the job. I have read that previous models had issues of an echo on the other end of the call. They seem to have fixed the issue I have not had any problems with sound quality on either end. The phone is not completely sealed up. There is a little opening where the mic is. I assume that is the fix from there previous models. The clip seems flimsy but it is holding up so we will see if it will last. This is a must have if your hard on phones.

While this case appears that it would protect well, the features it does not do well outweigh what it can do. I cannot hear anyone on the phone with this case on it, and you have to press much harder on the screen. Also, while taking video, the iPhone offers the option to take pictures during a video. When you do this with this case on, it actually records a sound in the video of you pressing the screen based on the nature of the case. When using the flash with this case, it reflects the green from the case and puts a green light on your photo. Very, very unhappy with this case.

The Survivor case is aptly named. The Survivor completely encloses the IPhone. The exterior rubber case appears to do an excellent job of protecting the IPhone if dropped. It claims to protect when wet, however, I am reluctant to purposely do this as a test. The Survivor is bulky and somewhat uncomfortable to wear using the belt clip. The only true negative about the Survivor is when removing the encased IPhone from the belt clip it frequently gets caught on the Survivor rubber shell. I think that will become an issue of integrity on the Survivor over continued use.

the case is comprised of thick rubber surrounding the case and is designed to be water proof. It is hard to open up the camera lens area when taking a picture. Unable to hear or to be heard when using the phone. had to remove the block from the ear speaker. There went the waterproof feature of the case. Have to remove the lower rubber over the speaker in order to be heard. again, no longer water proof. I would not recommend or purchase another of this design.

Bought this case for my husband. He really likes it and feels comfortable about the protection. He doesn't take a lot of pictures, but says if he did, the lens cover is a little bit of a pain. We know it's necessary for complete coverage of the phone though. It is a little chunky and the rubber makes it hard to slip in and out of your pocket sometimes. My husband has had other complete coverage cases and really prefers this one over all the others though!

Bought this phone case for my girlfriend because she drops her phone so much. Very protective against drops and scratches. Had to modify it, though, because use issues. I cut the screen-cover off because she had to press it so hard to type, I cut out the mic-cover because it distorted her voice, and I removed the camera lens cover because she takes so many pics she said it was aggravating to keep opening. Still is very protective even after this.

I bought this when I got the iPhone 5c. I was disappointed in the selection of colors available, I've always been a basic black kind of person. I chose the white phone, and luckily this case completely covers all of the white on the phone. The only negative I have to say about it is the tech that helped me put the case on the phone but did not explain how to take it off or put it back on. (And threw away the box with the directions.)

Working on car engines - answer that call without damaging the phone with grease and oil. Mowing the lawn - excellent acces to the earbud port. Drop it - it's okay. Drop something on it - it's okay. Little sticky fingers - it's okay. Get water on it in the garden - it's okay. Teach your dog to bring your phone to you - it's okay. Saves phone from all kinds of potential insurance claims issues. Get this case. Keep your phone longer.

I use my phone in a mostly hostile environment. A delivery truck with metal floors and sidewalks and asphalt are the likely places my phone will drop. This is my second Griffin case on my second iPhone. I need a case to take heat, rain, and snow exposure too, this is the one. It is a great case. When I turned on my old iPhone the guy said it looked new! This is easy to use and offers great protection.

I just got an iPhone 5c from using an iPod Touch and a flip phone. I had a Survivor case for the iPod and liked it a lot. This one is as good or better and it is much better than the Otter Box Defender that I originally bought for the phone. The Survivor gives much better protection from dust and falls and it also has a much better screen protector.

The case is super strong and durable. It really keeps the phone protected. The only (major) problem I had was that I couldn't hear people when they called. The sound was very faint. I figured out that the case also has a small protective cover over the ear piece so it muffles the voice on the other end to the point that you can't hardly hear. I ended up returning my phone case and going with Otterbox.
