Perfect software for moderate personal taxes, seems to have everything needed to get the job done.

I purchased this software to help prepare my 2019 income tax and it worked great!

It gets the job done and has all the latest updates that you need to file taxes.

Been using TurboTax for many years. Decided to give H&R Block a try this year as part of a promotional offer. It easily found/imported last year's return from TurboTax and walked me through the usual income, deductions, etc. sections making useful recommendations along the way. Overall, it feels like the interface is simpler, less busy and I like the information/question mark you can click on for pretty much every topic to get more information and help you decide if you qualify for that deduction or whatever. Now for the issues that I have experienced, though they could be isolated to my older Win7 system...when I printed my completed tax return forms, they didn't come out right, it must be defaulting to some different paper size or not respecting the margins, cause the printouts are not formatted correctly, they get cutoff at the bottom of the page. Additionally when I tried to save my returns to PDF, it had to download and install an additional module. Subsequently, printing from the PDF file came out better.

Year after year H&R Block continues to help our family do our taxes without any troubles, and this year is not different. The program makes it easy to file your taxes without any troubles. All you need is your information and you simply ask the questions promoted by the software. I have never had any issues for the last five years and this is why I recommend this to my family and friends. H&R Block delivers and gives us the biggest refund while at the same time saving us money in paying for someone to do our taxes!

I’ve never used H&R Block tax software before (previously used an online competitor). With that said, I was impressed with the ease of the overall process. Installation was a breeze on my Windows computer. It also was able to check for any important updates to make sure it was using the latest information. One of the things that I liked was, even though files are saved on your local hard drive, there is an option to create a password to protect your file from prying eyes (important if you have a friend or loved one use your computer). I live in a state where I only need to file Federal taxes, so I cannot comment on the State feature of this software. Regardless, I am sure the process works the exact same. If you have never done your taxes yourself or have never used this software, do not fret. H&R Block will guide you through the process, asking questions along the way (asking you for all the essential forms, assisting you with itemized deductions, etc.). When I was done and confident that I accounted for everything I needed, I was able to e-file my return and save a PDF of the information for my records. While this is not the most nice-looking software, it does what it is supposed to and gets the job done.

First time trouble with installation. Go to the library with a laptop if you don't have internet. No hurry to purchase since first update won't be available until March 6, 2020.

I normally use H&R Block website to do my taxes which always works great. This year I decided to test out the H&R Block software. The software is nearly identical to the website and provides you with two advantages. The first is that you do not need internet access to complete your taxes (but you will need it to file.) The second is that you can E-file up to 5 returns. It also has a few disadvantages. One is that it does not sync with the online system, so you will not have a online backup of your tax paperwork. Another is that when you want to file your state taxes you have to pay to download another software. Then you have to pay another separate E-File fee for your state return. With that being said, The software did the job and is a great deal of you plan to E-file federal returns only and intend to do it for yourself and 4 other people. If not, I rather recommend using the H&R Block website to file.

Bought with the approval of a Best Buy sales staff that it would work on my Mac. Sorry, the product is junk.

I found the H&R Block Deluxe Tax Software to be intuitive and beneficial. I have done the family taxes by hand for many years, which was fine. But this gave me an opportunity to see if the H&R Block Deluxe Tax Software could find any deductions that I had been missing. It is quick to load onto my desktop and get an account going. It walked me through every step, with support at the ready if needed. It did find two deductions that I had not considered which was amazing to me. Filing was easy on both the federal and state level. For me, this was totally worth it, and I highly recommend using this software, even if just once every few years, to make sure that you are maximizing what you can save come tax season.

I used this software to file my federal taxes this year. I like the software overall but thought it had a few issues. The good: it has many ways to import your information. You can input via PDF, import a photo, retrieve from employer, in addition to manual entry. It also tell you the increase/decrease in your refund with each change you make to your filing, in real time. It also makes it easy to import prior year's taxes via PDF. This made the filing very easy. The issues: When you import the PDFs or pictures, you have to double check the info anyways. There was a mistake in every single document I imported that I only caught because I checked the info after each import. Also, although each section is broken up by category and sub category. Also, the automatic questions don't necessarily ask you all of the information required for your tax filing. I was able to open up the entire tax form and able to input the data. The wizard did not prompt me to do it and it could have effected my return if I did not catch it. The repayment of the home buyer credit was also very hard to figure out. It requires you to know how you claimed and how much you claimed. Other software i used automatically enters the standard amount. In this software you have to figure it out for yourself. Lastly, if you have misc income you have to pick the category yourself with vague descriptions. Other software gave detailed descriptions of those categories and I had to reference last year's taxes to see what categories to use. Be aware that if you purchase this particular software it costs an additional forty dollars to file the state tax. You can compare this to the software version that already includes the state filing. Lastly, once you are ready to file and try to submit, it give you a slew of issues that you need to correct. After you thought everything was ready to correct. It found 8 errors on objects that was already entered. It was automatically inputting my address into the control number space. Overall, this software was very good, but had a few hiccups along the way.

This is a solid and user friendly product. It is no different from some of the softwares that you might have used in the past to do your taxes. But, for me, the interface looked cleaner and that is what I loved most about it. Step by step guidance is helpful. There is customer support in case you need it and it comes with your purchase I believe. I did not use it and so really cannot comment on it. You really cannot go wrong with this one.

For the last 10 years or so, I have been doing my own taxes via another major companies tax software. This year I decided to give the H&R Block downloadable tax software a whirl. As a double check, I did check my final results with a side by side comparison of both tax software products. After a quick download of the H&R Block software, the program ran flawlessly. No hiccups, no problems. Importing my other tax return information from my other tax software company was seamless and efficient. The importing of tax documents from my brokerage firms worked like a charm. I did find that the H&R Block software was more comprehensive as measured against the other tax software with respect to the guidance questions that it asked during preparation of my return. H&R Block was more thorough with the questioning in my particular situation. I found the software and the Help Center a definite plus, and you can draw on thousands of articles to help with your tax questions. Finally, did I have a clear winner with comparing software and the final results? Personally no, as both companies calculated the exact same return results. H&R Block was thorough and is worth the expenditure. If you want your taxes prepared correctly, H&R Block is here!

The download is quick and easy. The input from Quicken was effortless. Just answer the questions. Being self employed was not a problem either. I like the little pop-up to answer questions that are available. I have tried the other software companies, but this product is far easier to navigate. Looking forward to many years of use with H&R Block.

The H&R Block Deluxe Tax Software works pretty well. The forms are easy to fill out, and it organizes your financial information nicely. I don't recommend using this sort of self-filing software if you have more complicated filings (If you have us the AMT calculations or you receive K1s for instance), but the H&B Block software works very well for relatively straight-forward tax filings. It will handle the more complicated stuff, but it's a lot more work to input, as well; so keep that in mind. I will note there are other options out there that cost less to use, but there is some security in going with a name brand in the arena of tax prep. The amount of the upcharge to also file state returns was disappointing ($40 for the software and $20 to e-file). I realize most similar platforms have some additional charge for state filings, but this was on the high end, based on prior experience; and it lowered my recommendation of the software quite a bit.
