Always used HR block for taxes and bought it from BestBuy for a good price.

Used last years software had it was very easy. This year should be same

I have been using HR Block software since it was called Taxcut. I have never had a reason to change. Works fine.

Very bad for BB to sell without a code. Never had an issue like this with Amazon downloads

I had bought and downloaded this software last year without a problem. I received a code and all was fine. This year it claims you do not need a code but you do unless you didn't want to e-file. I called the store and the people were no help to obtain a code. I was told to contact H&R Block. I did get my code but the hassle was annoying.

I have been preparing my tax returns for years using different tax software. I’ve used TaxAct the most for several years, HR Block for two years, and another one back in the 90s which name I can’t remember. This is the second year I’ve used the HR Block software. I would think with the many decades this company is known for preparing tax returns, I will not have this horrible experience. Also, I have worked for HR Block for many years preparing tax returns. The issue I have with the software is the inability of it not producing the correct result. To add salt to the injury is the fact that the customer service is not up to par; You talk to a call center agent. I was given a phone number to talk to a tax advisor only to have the same virtual assistant that takes me to the same steps as calling the customer service number. I made phone calls with wait times; 34, 22, and 40 minutes each time with no positive results. With the 40-minute wait time, I just hung up. Now the real issues: On one return, the balance due amount doubled after an update. Granted that a bug on an earlier version was fixed, I accepted the result. The next issue is making payment using the “Electronic Funds Withdrawal” option. The program accepts the banking information, amount, and payment date and yet when I print the return before E Filing, it prints a pay voucher and I’m instructed to mail a check. Also, the banking information will not print on the returns nor a check mark on the “Checking” box. I get the same results no matter how many times I cycle through the return. On the second return, the total proceeds that was entered from 1099-B did not match the amount on the income summary page. I installed the software downloaded from a link given by the customer rep that was the same version as the one I uninstalled and still got the same results, even after I cycled through the returns. I am writing this review as I am now on my 4th phone call waiting for over 20 minutes.
