    It never worked! It may not be the fault of the item. Item was ordered to my mother as a replacement because her older, toaster almost recently caught on fire. Thus item was delivered to her home since she lives over a hour from me. My mother reported that when the item was delivered, it was thrown on her porch with such a great force. My mother was excited to get a new toaster. However after 4 failed attempts, the toaster never worked. Again, it may not be the manufacturer or quality of the item, but the carelessness of how the item was delivered. I love and trust Hamilton Beach products. My mother ended up purchasing a similar brand toaster from a competitor, so I will be returning this one to BB in the next couple of days.
