Hard water? Do this…

I have had two of these. One in black and one white. Black is better. It hides coffee stains. I love the options of a single cup or pot. The catch is that if you do a single cup, you cannot do two shots. It needs to be the amount of grounds specified or water drips and splashes the grounds back up, coating the machine where it drips and you have to clean that out. As far as hard water, I learned that I never had to toss my first machine. I only needed to run citric acid and water through it to clear it of mineral build up inside. Do that with a full pitcher of water and maybe 3 tbsps of citric acid. Heck, even 4. Do it about three times and you’re good. As far as cleaning the tank, good luck. It is not easy getting inside the tank with a brush. You’ll save your sanity NOT using your coffee pot to fill it. Use a clean pot and train your hubby to do it as well or he will fill it with watery old coffee like mine did. I’ve used my machine for years because I can measure my own coffee out and use any sized tumbler or cup I want.

We like being able to only make a cup of our favorite coffee, or a full pot if needed. This model was more appropriate for us than the more expensive pot.
Hamilton Beach has a great coffee pot.
