Had Christmas ham on slow for 8 hours and came out overdone. Previous crockpot always came out perfectly on slow for 8 hours. Need to adjust cooking time to 6 hours...so beware.

I was hesitant because reviews had said it gets hot on the outside. That is my only complaint about this slow cooker. The outside gets warmer than other slow cookers I have had. ( just keep it out of reach of the kiddos) I love the timer!

After the positive reviews, I decided on this slow cooker to replace one with a cracked crock. I've used it twice and found that one end cooks hotter than the other, causing food to overcook and bake onto the surface of the crock on the hotter end. Mine definitely has a 'hot spot' creating the need for frequent stirring. This, in my opinion, eliminates the 'set it and forget it' convenience of a slow cooker. Otherwise, it does a good job of cooking...just with extended cooking time due to the frequent removal of the lid to distribute the ingredients away from the hot spot.
