The area in the back, some people complain about this. Yes, the back is about 3 maybe 4 inchs larger than the frame of the unit. Its not advertised, that extension is for 8 slice pizzas. The back inside is curved for this exact reason. Best toaster oven ever.

Spacious for a toaster oven. Easy-to-use. Heating is a little uneven, but acceptable. Food in the front and back are closer to the heating elements than what's in the middle. It's not very noticeable if you're roasting meat or cooking a casserole, but outer slices of bacon may be crispy before then center slices.

The Hamilton Beach has a large rear area that sticks out so that if one wanted it closer to a counter wall, that is not possible. However, it also allows for a larger cooking space. The heating elements are not covered as they were in another brand of toaster ovens that I had owned. The shield would help protect the heating elements is any food or fat dripped on them. The dial choices are fine. The exterior walls of the toaster get hotter than my previous toaster oven so one must be careful about close placement.

Better fit on counter and toasts very well. Love it. I've tried many other little ovens and like this one the best (as I have 3 others in the box that didn't fit our use). I have shorter height on cabinets so it can't be too tall but I still want the toasting space for family of 5. This fits nicely as it's not too tall and has nice toasting of all products so far. No matter what is toasted it has a fairly even toast and easily set to browness desired. Very happy with this small toaster.

Very Unreliable Toaster Oven!!! Do NOT BUY ONE!

I had TWO of these oven break after having them for LESS THAN ONE YEAR! I would avoid Hamilton Beach products since they appear to be very unreliable. I have small appliances that last for years. But their ovens just don't last! My toaster oven broke AGAIN! This is the second oven that broke. You would think a toaster oven should last OVER 1 year? Well this oven broke for me TWICE in one year. I was sent a replacement oven and SURPRISE SURPRISE the second died just a few days ago! Both Hamilton Beach Toaster ovens (Model 311004) died WITHIN ONE YEAR! When I purchased one of these things and it burned out in less than a year Hamilton Beach wanted me to send them $25 to ship a replacement oven to me. And then THAT ONE broke in 8 months AGAIN! This is the WORST OVEN EVER! The replacement oven they shipped was covered in soot too! It was like they shipped it on a locomotive burning coal! I bet that oven was sitting in some dusty warehouse since it was offloaded from a container from China! Really the box was BLACK. It left a spot on the carpet! I had to send them a PROOF of DEATH picture of the oven too! Really I cut the cord, took a photo, and had to email it to them! It was like one of those scenes from a movie where they send in pictures of a hostage. The first oven that died just crapped out after a stinky smell of burning wires inside the oven. Nothing ever spilled inside the oven. This was burning plastic from the wiring. The second oven just up and died quietly when I turned it on. Now I have NO OVEN! This last one was shipped to me September 29, 2014 and now it's dead!

Well made and easy to use, feels sturdy and makes well balanced toast! We like the *ding* that goes off when things are done. Looking forward to making cookies in this!

Bought this in Feb 2015 and still going strong. Easy to use, though the dial for timing is not a very exact interface. Does a frozen pizza well and will toast a lot of bread or bagels at once. Convention fan has recently gotten loud but only occasionally. Nice styling and looks good on the counter. Have broiled in it also. Crumb tray on the bottom is a nice touch and makes it easy to clean out.

This toaster is decently made and performs well as a toaster, haven’t had issues with food being burnt. It makes a convenient replacement for a full size oven for most foods; I haven’t attempted to bake with it. Do note that it’s claim of cooking a whole foot pizza means that the entire toaster is pretty big and has a rounded back that won’t allow it to fit in smaller corner spaces.

The unit can't really be used as an alternative oven because the temp to which it supposedly heats things doesn't cook the food in the instructed time. Otherwise, it's good. I bought it to be able to heat thing without having to use the big oven, and it does.

I've been using toaster ovens for over 30 years so i am very particular, especially since my last toaster oven lasted about 7 yrs (Kenmore Elite now takes 2nd place). We use our toaster oven A LOT! Toast, waffles, bagels, reheat leftovers, bake small dinner. And my boys bake individual frozen pizzas after school almost every day. Controls are user friendly and precise...peace of mind for me that my boys can use after school while I'm at work. A lot more expensive than others but well worth it.

I have used this oven for about a month or so. It makes great toast, never burned. Also baking and broiling come in handy on a hot day when you don't want to heat up the kitchen. There is a lot more room inside than my old toaster oven. I really love it!

One thing that is not reliable with this oven is the temperature settings. It does'nt seem to get as hot as it should at the higher temperature settings and the temperature dial does not accurately indicate the desired temperature at the higher temps. The good thing is that this can be easily adjusted for.

I Love this oven. Its so convenient and quick. The convection feature was so worth it. it was a small difference i price from the Hamilton beach without convection. It heats the food quickly and evenly(sometimes too quickly, keep an eye on it) and it can be used to dehydrate food. it large and and excellent alternative to turning on the big oven.

Bought this black toaster oven to replace a red one that was a similar Hamilton Beach model. The red oven lasted many years with regular family use, but started to make a loud clicking noise recently. I often prefer appliances without digital features, and this one is very simple and reliable. I prefer this new black model because it looks elegant, the timer is quieter, and the knobs are bigger and more ergonomic. I find this model has adequate power for toasting bread, broiling steak, baking cupcakes, frozen pizzas, and french fries.

It does all a toaster oven needs to do. The Best thing about this unit though is it does not trip our circuit breaker. Our electricity in the house is behind the times. I had a hard time finding a toaster oven I could use that wouldn't over load the circuit. This is the one.
