    Best Crockpot I've Owned!

    Posted
    mrsrbnsn

I'm one of those people who do a lot of research before I buy anything and this crockpot was no exception. It seemed like a great purchase and one of my coworkers recommended it, so I figured I'd try it out and if I hated it, I could bring it back in Best Buy's 30 day return policy. Turns out, I love it! I made three meals in it the first week. I love being able to leave for work and come home to a finished meal! The crockpot I owned before did not have removable stoneware so it's a big deal for me that this one does. I never wanted to use my old crockpot because it was such a pain to clean! It's great that this one is dishwasher safe, but it is a little big so it takes up half of my dishwasher (better than washing by hand though). I like that you can use the timed cook or manual setting, but the temperature probe is fantastic and the cook feature I use most! The probe is too short though if you're just cooking chicken breasts. For roasts and whole chickens it's the perfect size though. My favorite thing to make in the crockpot is roasts and I usually buy those roasts kits you can get at the grocery store now. Meat, cut up veggies and seasoning all in one package for about $15. You can make amazing meals with only five minutes (max) prep time. I've made the kits before, but the roasts turn out even better when I use the temperature probe! It's seriously a great feature. I really love the booklet that it comes with, there are some great recipes in there! Including...Chicken Pieces with Lemon and Fresh Rosemary, Apricot Chicken, and Maple Boneless Pork Roast. My favorite part of the booklet is the page where it gives you a guide for what temperature is ideal for different types of meat based on their weight. It hasn't steered me wrong yet, it's perfect. The only thing that I really don't like about this crockpot at all is the latches on the lid. It's great that they're there, but they're really hard to get undone. Maybe it's just me. It didn't stop me from giving it five stars though! If you're like me and you're reading this as part of your careful, in-depth research, just give yourself a break, stop researching and buy it. You'll love it.

The slow cooker everyone should want!!!

I did a lot of research, before deciding on this slow cooker. This is not like when they first came out in the 70's and didn't have the removable insert. It is simple to use, easy to clean, and as it starts cooking you can smell the aroma of what, you are cooking! I love it. As for the concerns about the reviews of the smelly gasket, I have not had that problem. This will only happen if you overfill the cooker because it can/will result in the food sticking to the gasket causing the cooking of the rubber. I have cooked chili and roasts and like that I don't have to worry about burning the bottom of something, because I didn't stir it or the burner was set to hot! Don't consider a more expensive slow cooker, it is a waste of money. You won't be impressing anyone, you will be cooking for yourself or your family. Fix your dinner the night or morning before you leave for work, set the timer, and come home to dinner cooked and ready to serve. Check the internet for slow cooker recipes or your local bookstore will have a "slow cooker cookbook". The booklet has a page, with a chart for cooking times and temperatures that are for different types of meat based on their weight. It gives you step by step instructions on how to use the auto or manual settings. The other convenience is the spoon holder in the handle. Never have to worry about losing it or where you set it down. The only con about this cooker is the lid latches, they are difficult to secure and release, but other than that; there are none! Stop researching!!! Great price for the value and easy to use!

I always do the research first. Buy this slow cooker! It is simple to use and it will create the best air freshener for your home. If you are concerned about the review about the smelly gasket, that will only happen if you overload the cooker. Loading an inch from the rim is maximum. Overloading can result in the food sticking to the gasket causing the cooking of the rubber. The internet has an abundance of slow cooker recipes. The use of herbs and spices will be your tongues best friend. Do not even consider more expensive cookers, especially All-Clad. You do not need to impress anyone, it is a waste of money. With the holidays approaching, this cooker is an excellent low cost gift that will be loved by those receiving it. Fill the cooker in the morning before going to work, set the timer, come home and you will think that you hired a gourmet cook. There are no cons about this cooker but be good to the cooker and thoroughly clean it after every use. If I had Bill Gates' money, I would supply the homes with electricity and this cooker to the starving people in Africa. Happy cooking!

I researched it, read many reviews and finally settled on purchasing this slow cooker to replace my old crock pot. I am pleased to report that I made the correct choice. The performance of the unit has been outstanding thus far and I have no problem recommending this slow cooker to others. Because I did read that some other users had a problem with the unit just shutting off during the cooking cycle, I spent a few more dollars for an extended service plan just in case. I have used it many times and it has performed flawlessly each time. There have been no unexpected shut off issues at all. I love the sophisticated look of it. It is very easy to program and I absolutely love being able to program it to cook to whatever temperature I want using the food probe that comes with it. Once the probe hits the desired temperature, it instantly switches to keeping the food warm. It is an excellent way to not overcook the meat and bring it to a safe cooking temperature. There are many slow cookers out there to choose but for me, I found this one to be the best overall value with excellent performance.

I purchased this item thinking it would be the perfect Christmas present for my mother. And it certainly would have been, except it turns out my brother had gotten her a similar gift already. I considered returning it, but decided that maybe it was time I grew up and started learning how to cook. I figured what better way then by keeping this monster and making myself something other than a quickie meal for a change. My first attempt was barbecue for sandwiches. It was delicious. And so easy to make. Next came the pot roast with potatos, carrots and onions. Also, tender and juicy and cooked to perfection. I had plenty of leftovers to freeze, even after eating on it for two days. Something tells me I'm going to gain a few pounds, but it'll be worth it. If you are on the fence about a slow cooker, I recommend this product. The price was great and the quality is excellent. Writing this review has made me hungry. Let's see what I can throw together in the pot today.

Quality product, a few minor quirks

Overall, very pleased with this purchase. Mostly designed well with sturdy build (nothing will easily break off). Clean design that looks good on the countertop. Pretty easy to use and most features are intuitive. A few minor annoyances: 1) I love having the thermometer, but there is no self-sealing hole where it goes in, nor an included plug to fill the hole. That means you almost have to have the thermometer in every single time you use it (and thus, also have to clean the thermometer each time) or you'll have a hole in your lid where steam and heat will escape. 2) I love that it drops down to warm when it detects cooking is done. At the same time, the "warm" is a bit too warm, and the food continues to cook a bit too rapidly versus keeping it at a nice steady serving temperature. Since the unit insulates well, I end up turning the unit off entirely versus keeping it on warm. Wish the "warm" was also thermostat based, turning the heating element off and on versus continuous warm heat.

I got this slow cooker for my birthday in February and I love it. The little booklet comes with some recipes to try out too. Clean up is super easy. I've left meals in there for upwards of 12 hours on low and I've never had a problem with clean up. Just a little soap and water does the trick. No need for those slow cooker liners. Everything has always come out perfect. Never under or over cooked. The clamps on the sides are a blessing. They can be a little tough at first to lock down, but it's worth it to keep the food from spilling on the way to the in laws house. It's great for those of us who work all day too. Just set up your ingredients before bed and set on low before you leave for work and dinner is done when you get home. It's awesome.

I really love this slow cooker! It's plenty spacious enough to hold a large corned beef brisket with all the trimmings and all turn out fantastic! It's very easy to use, dishwasher-safe crock and lid, has a nice appearance and sweet extras like the temperature probe and locking lid with spoon rest and spoon included. I also really like that once it is done cooking it shifts to a keep warm mode. I've only had this appliance about a month and have used it several times with great results! I would also like to mention that the Best Buy store I purchased this at did not have any in stock the day I went in. But they ordered one for me and had it sent directly to my house with no charge for shipping. I ordered it late on a Monday afternoon and it arrived Thursday morning ... wow!!

This slow cooker is perfect! The size lets you put in a 5 pound pork shoulder easily. It is easy to use, you just put your ingredients in, choose the program you want to run, enter, choose the length of time, enter and voila! You can go do your things without having to worry about dinner. The closing clips help carry it places, but I mostly use it the lock in the heat and flavors while cooking. It comes with a thermometer/probe for large pieces of meat, only used it once since most recipes online give you an estimated time of cooking. I do put a napkin on top of the whole, because even though I love the smell of food, I don't want it all over my house (happened once-yummy aroma, not so much at 6 am). That seems to do the trick. I have made pork loin, carnitas, chili, teriyaki chicken, latin chicken drumsticks and other things, this is a life saver for a busy working mom.

With my old Slow Cooker I had to have a independent timer plugged into the wall and hope that I had set everything correctly and be worried that it would actually turn on and off when it was supposed to. With this new one, though, I have no fears that I am going to either over or under cook something. It makes cooking stock and stews SO much easier. My husband and I both work until 9pm so by the time we get home there is usually no way that either of us is going to start cooking at that hour. I can prepare things before I leave for work and know that all I have to do when I get home is plate and prepare a salad. It really has made my life so much easier (and healthier now that I am not tempted to grab some fast food on the way home!)

This is the 2nd Hamilton Beach Slow Cooker I've had in this model. The 1st went out within a couple of years so I bought a different, more expensive, popular brand to replace it. I didn't like it near as much as the Hamilton Beach so I'm going to give it another try. I think the sealing lid is what makes the HB slow cooker better than most. The replacement I bought had a lid that just sat on top. It didn't seal in the heat, so it took forever for my roasts to cook and they weren't near as tender as they were when I cooked them in the HB slow cooker. It's extremely easy to program as it has 3 different programming modes to choose from. So...fingers crossed that this unit will last longer than 2-3 years this 2nd time around!

    This Slow Cooker Didn't Disappoint

I actually used this slow cooker to make Thanksgiving Turkey. I bought an 11lb. turkey and it's kinda tight but after cooking it shrunk a little. To save on cleaning, i put a plastic liner for slow cookers that you can buy at your local grocery store. During cooking, an air pocket built up between the liner and the pot that the juice from the turkey and my marinade started to overflow. But the great thing about this slow cooker is the locking sealed lid that prevented the juice from leaking out of the pot! After the temp set down to warm, the air pocket reduced and i was able to open the lid without spilling. I had set the temperature probe to 180F (Max) and the turkey actually was so tender and juicy that when i tried to pick it up, the breast meat came out and the rest was in the pot. Talk about falling off the bone. Great product!

The best for a busy day

This is great for busy days to start it off in the morning and just let it go, when you come home dinner is done. If you let it go longer, it automatically switches to warm the food. I was a little hesitant that the probe hole would release too much steam when you were not using the probe but I have not had any problems. I thought that the locks were kind of silly until we had a chili cook-off at work. I brought it in my car, I had to make a sudden stop because a guy ran a red light. Even though the crock pot slid on to the floor of my car, it did not spill, not a drop.

This is the slow cookers of slow cookers! I have a smaller cooker that I really love and use frequently, but for cooking ribs and larger cuts of meat, this cooker really rocks. Also, the timer makes it great for starting the cooker when I leave for work, and when I get home it is already cooked and warm -- and NOT over cooked. I have also cooked soups and beans, and it really gets the job done and done well. Cleanup is easy, too. I have not used the temp probe yet, but I have no doubt it will do just as well as all the other features. Also, the lockdown top makes it easy and spill-proof for transport. This is a "must buy" from Best Buy! I don't think you will regret it. Happy cooking!

    Great Slow Cooker

We got this slow cooker as a holiday gift for our Mum. We chose it because it was highly rated on Consumer Reports and other publications/sites. This Hamilton Beach model seems more impressive than the pricier models/fancier brand names out there. Great buttons and features, sturdy design and ample room. The price at Best Buy was the best around, as well. So far, our Mum hasn't cooked with it yet (as she was away on holiday) but is now excited to use it. My aunt has used it and has nothing but raves since you can literally have your day and come home to a delicious, fully prepped meal. Very easy to use...now I'm anxious to try it out too!

This was purchased to replace an old Crock Pot that had finally reached its breaking point. At first I was concerned that this being a larger Pot than my previous it was more than I would need. I was in awe the first time I placed a large pork butt into the pot, I was able to put in in without having to cut it up first. I cooked on low for 16 hours before adding any veggies and 5 more hours afterwards. The ability to adjust temp or choose regular settings was fun and the built in poke hole allowed me to check the meat without unlocking the lid. I am also a big fan of the built in spoon holder in the lid handle. I recommend this to everyone interested in a new crock pot

Incredibly poor quality control and build.

This unit works OK (i've only had it two weeks), but it's obviously made incredibly cheaply and without quality control. It's the second one I bought -- the first one I had to bring back and exchange because there was no front panel cover (which is simply a cheap plastic sticker, by the way). The replacement was stamped unevenly, and the control panel is cut in the shell at an angle. This thing is so cheap to buy that I'm going to keep it, but I'm worried because poor quality control like this doesn't give me hope for it being a long-lasting product. Bad work, Hamilton Beach -- this thing is as cheaply made as it gets. I won't buy any more of your products.

This is my first slow cooker. I read the reviews (professional and consumer: all good) and took set out to buy it. The reviewers were all right on the money. Very easy to program. I love that it switches to "warm" mode when finished...no need to run home or rearrange my schedule. Everything I've made in it turned out perfectly....not under or overdone. The actual pot is a bit heavy and I worry that I'll drop it and it'll break into a zillion pieces. I have yet to use the probe feature. Easy to clean, doesn't take up too much space and the spill proof latches are great. I plan on giving this as a gift in the future.

I bought this particular crock pot based on the reviews of others. I have used it several times so far with no problems yet. When I was looking for a new crock pot, I wanted one that I could program and that would automatically switch to a warm setting after cooking and not just turn off completely. This model does just that. I also really like the included temperature probe. I have not used it extensively, but I have used it to make sure that meat is cooked to a proper temperature. With no problems so far, I would definitely recommend this brand and model.

After reading some of the bad reviews, I was concerned about buying this slow cooker. But the price was right, and I needed a large capacity cooker, so I went for it. I am not disappointed! It works great and the outside of the cooker does not get too hot to touch, like some other reviewers have stated. The only problem I noticed, and why I am giving this 4 stars instead of 5, is that there are hot spots where the food gets overlooked. It's not a problem with soups or stews, but I think a pot roast might not come out evenly cooked. You'd have to rearrange it throughout the cycle to ensure it cooks evenly.
