Posted .Picture really shouldn't change from generation to generation, because - except for the HDHomeRun Extend - all HDHomeRun devices always send the untouched signal straight from the antenna to the player. With that said, it's entirely possible that there are improvements elsewhere in the chain. For example, Plex may have improved the way it views an HDHomeRun stream. Thanks for the review!

Doesn't receiving some channels.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I love the intended functionality of this unit, WiFi access and 4 tuner capability, but I have a serious problem where it won't receive OTA channel 28 (digital and virtual in my area). I receive this channel with crystal clear clarity on several televisions, a channel master DVR + as well as an older Elgato EyeTV hybrid. I have been working with SiliconDust tech support via email, but so far they have been unable to resolve the problem. They do not offer telephone support. Another issue with this unit is that you cannot manually add channels or run multiple scans without loosing previously found channels. This makes it impossible to use with an antenna that requires multiple directions with a rotor to receive stations from different transmitters/cities.

Posted .Please update with the latest firmware to correct a found "out of box" issue (now fixed). We always recommend using my.hdhomerun.com often as a utility for channel scan updates and firmware updates.

Great For Cord Cutters

I will be cutting the cord soon and this product is one of the reasons why. Since I already have a good antenna on my roof, this product was a no brainer. It allows me to use my antenna with my plex server and record the local stations and even gives me a great channel guide. If you are thinking about cutting the cord, you should have this device.

If there are any channels that are making you hesitate about cutting the cord, just know that we have a new service HDHomeRun Premium TV, which allows you to add a bunch of streaming cable channels to your Over The Air lineup. Cut the cord users!!

We decided to go with the digital antenna and got this awesome gem to go with it! We can now watch live or recorded ( requires $35 yearly subscription for guide and dvr access) tv shows! If you decide to want to record live TV you will need an external hard drive attached to your router. It's so easy to watch TV on our phone tablets or smart tv!

Decent, not as good as Tablo

However it is a hassle to need to use a PC or NAS for dvr storage rather than a simple external HD. And there is no trial to try the dvr service. Either you front the money or you don't.

Coupled with a decent antenna this will put 4 independent video streams on your network. For a reasonable subscription price just about all IPTV sources can be viewed or DVR'd on a TV or computer monitor or sent to a portable device. Local tv availability anywhere if you can log in to your home network from external IP addresses.

Good but not Great, Yet

Only reason for not great review is that every time I start the app it defaults to the top channel and not the last used one. Maybe there will be an update in future.

Posted .We are actually working on an update to the UI right as we speak with the beta already available to users. At the moment you can select whether to start in Live TV or your DVR recordings tab. And in this version of the UI, you always go back to the last viewed channel!

Posted .One of the most important things about he QUATRO is that it does not touch the image at all until the picture is on your TV itself, leaving the picture be as crisp and clean as the moment it was made.
