I wasn’t sure what to expect with this, but after some time with it, I came away pretty impressed. For starters, the build is great. It has some weight, but quite honestly, not as much as I was expecting. While I was a little surprised it was only 11lbs, it is also fairly compact, both of which make it so easy to move around and I think transporting it will be a breeze. A nice add. That said, everything is solid and seems to be put together well. All nobs and buttons felt “right,” were responsive and logically placed. The FX section is great to use (although the lights are not the brightest on the smaller buttons). The performance pads are very responsive with a good feel, nice travel, and nice RGB. The belt driven platters have a great feel, have minimal drift, and I love the flexibility to use either the provided real 7” vinyl and slipmat or bring your own to the table. While there is a “little” play and workaround space, you really aren’t easily going to get much larger vinyl on there. Regardless, it is nice to be able to bring a custom look to the decks. I am no where near a pro, so I found the faders to be fine, albeit a little “loose” or with some “give” (if either of those make sense). You can upgrade an entire new fader panel and drop it in if you feel the need. For most, it is probably good, just something to note. Lastly, there are retractable feet, which I really appreciated. It brings the controller up to a “better” height, gives you some room underneath for cabling, laptop, whatever, and maybe even a little spill protection. All in all, I really like the build. As for software, you get Hercules DJUCED and Serato DJ Lite. Both are good software, intuitive, and known in the community. The options and customizations are nearly endless. Serato is a little held back by the Lite version, but still great to use. Honestly, I think it is the better software, and if you already have a Pro license, you can use it here as well. Ultimately, I really like this turntable/controller. I think it has a really fantastic build, is feature-rich, and simply has everything you are looking for in something like this. It may not be perfect (but I think it is pretty close), as I think for such a quality controller with an emphasis on the platters, they should have brought better faders, BUT, it does not have to be perfect for what it brings at this price point. The value is there. For me at least. Further, it is just so much fun to use, brings so much to the table, and while it may be more geared to the nonprofessional, I think novice and pro alike could be happy with it

Hercules has produced a winner with their DJ Control Impulse T7 DJ Mixer! I couldn't wait to open and unbox it when it arrived. It came perfectly packaged with no damage and ready to set up. I found the DJ T7 board to be beautifully designed and solidly built. After unboxing and picking a good spot in the house to set it up, I found I needed to download two software packages before using the mixer: Serano Lite and Djuced. Both were quickly downloaded and installed in my laptop computer. I then connected the USB cable (included with the mixer) to my laptop and the power cord to the DJ mixer and that's when things really got started. The mixer lit up and the controls were ready to go. Speakers were then connected to the mixer board using RCA cables (or XLR out connectors) and a microphone input is available tor you to use with the mic of your choosing (not included.) The board comes with beat controllers to help sync sound when changing from one song to the next. That helps with the continuity of beats between beats when dancing. Cue buttons are illuminated and change colors as you use the board. Scratching is also included via two belt drive turntables that come with felt and vinyl pads to facilitate use. The Hercules DJ Control Impulse T7 DJ Mixer is a serious muxic mising board for both beginners and pro's. Well built and at a very nice price point, you won't go wrong buying this DJ mixer! Speakers need to be added to the mixer using either

This Brought Back the DJ out of this Dad!

I am 42 years old, and the Hercules Inpulse T7 has brought out a side of me I missed and the side my 4 daughters missed watching and listening to me have fun. I was no huge DJ back in the day, just a small local club scene DJ back in the late 90s and early 2000s in Cle. I continued to DJ up until I had cancer and had to sell all my equipment to keep my kids fed. Well, a few years later and enter the chance to enjoy what I find as the quickest and best overall DJ setup money can buy. I still had my old Monitors and my go to headphones, grabbed my Laptop, signed in and started the setup. Once you download Serato DJ Lite and DJUICED, you can start playing within minutes if you know the software. I am new to DJUICED and familiar with Serato, so this was going to be a challenge to come back and to be on new software. I was able to utilize an older software but many functions were not working so it looks like I am using these. Now, my laptop is a gaming powerhouse yet I was getting low ram warnings with Serato and I have to dig in deeper why as my PC has 32gb and the minimum is 8gb. Make sure to download all the free beats and clips from Serato, they get you started digitally fast, I am currently now using Beatport and Soundcloud as all my old Vinyl which I still need transfer into digital format soon, waiting on a device to help with that. Now, plug in that USB cable and throw some track in and get ready to touch that amazing 7" platter covered in a thick and quality slip mat and a real vinyl discs or take them all off for a great feel on the edge of the platter, reminded me of my old T branded platters. Time to listen to your new passion, turn on the monitors, start song 1, grab those headphones and get ready to use the beat matching to get song two in sync so fast it is scary, I felt lazy but also scared me how fast it adjusted it. Being able to beat match on the fly is crazy all while using the FX boards as well, they have made it too easy to be honest. Here comes the time to blend, touch that slider and enjoy the smooth and linear feel that does not let you just flick it across, you can still but you will have much less mishaps with the feel of the Hercules sliders on this entire deck. All the knobs have the same linear feel and never go father then you wanted, great feel compared to the old days of so many mixers having sloppy feeling hardware. I then started giving the one button stem controls and FX buttons a try, setting up for this was easier than I thought, it was something completely new to me as I used to use a laptop to do this, now I have buttons that have shown me you can get WAY more creative on the deck that I ever imagined. Now, I have to talk about the platters more, more than just the feel, I really like how I can hit cue and the song will start yet the platters stay stationary, yet once I hit play, they spin. This feature helps me tremendously with time alignment as I mark my platters or vinyl with cue and scratch marks for distance, an old trick that always helped my movement distances. The platters are belt driven, I can only imaging that it is for cost reasons and to help keep the retail down. I can say though it does not affect the feel of the platters one bit, a 7" platter can easily handle belt driven and not feel any less than you would expect. Scratching on them is a breeze, I am rusty yet I still was able to get a great sound after a few hours of practice. I really enjoy the speed slider, and all sliders, they can have the range and speed adjusted on the fly with the shift button as well, the trickery of this was mind blowing once I figured out how to properly use this feature, I did not read anything prior, I was at this point. Adding in the FX buttons and here came the new fun I have been really getting into using the past few days. Using the FX preloaded into the software of your choice, you can setup per side to utilize the effects with the ease of a hitting one of the buttons located under the filter knobs and then go either up or down on the smooth switches next to them. Each deck has its own filter knob as well so you can utilize your effects along with the filters to help change or bring in a new song or add a beat. And below all that is a button to select your crossfader function. Want to mix, scratch, or turn it off? Just select the way and it instantly changes. Taking your T7 around is easy, I had to move it for a few days until my new table came in and what I found the most helpful for running wires underneath were the extended feet. Raising the T7 up 3.5" helps with cords going underneath and if you have clumsy kids, fluids out of your mixer if you have to play on the kitchen table, I may have had to the first 2 days. Also, you have 2 headphones outputs in the front, 3.5mm and a 1/4" jack and you can add your microphone to the back, also where your RCA outputs are located to take your sound to your amp or monitors. I am really loving the Hercules T7, I am really getting into the groove again with my old craft, maybe I will get to play at one of my kids weddings in a few years. Thanks Hercules!!!

A controller that can take me from Beginner to Pro

I’ll start my review with letting everyone know that I am completely new to mixing music and DJing. I’ve always had an ear for music and I’ve wondered if I would be any good at mixing and creating my own beats for quite a while now. I’ve always seen it as a huge investment, for something that will likely only be a hobby for me but when I saw the new T7 2-deck motorized DJ controller hit the market at such an attractive price point, I knew this was my chance to indulge my creative side and try out something new. I’m a child of the 80’s and for me mixing is and has always been about the feel and look of the vinyl and the ability to control a moving record when mixing. The Hercules DJ Control T7 gives me exactly what I want. Along with the feel of a moving record, the T7 offers beat matching aids which help beginners like me to learn the basics. You can control advanced performance features by using the performance pads along with a range of other effects. The DJ Controller comes very well packaged in a large box with styrofoam inserts to keep it well protected during shipping. There are some included quick start setup sheets to help you get started, which doesn’t take too long once you get everything connected, downloaded, updated and running. The platters on the T7 use a belt drive motor which, from what I’ve read, works well with a smaller platter and helps to keep the cost of the unit down. I’ve been very pleased with their performance and have no complaints. Although you do have the option to use any 7” vinyl or slipmat, Hercules does include a pair of each for you to use, and I think they work perfectly. They are super responsive to my touch and they feel really nice when using them with the included 7”slipmats. The slipmat works to give the vinyl a bit of a different feeling in relation to the platter by itself, offering a more smooth sensation when scratching. The build design and layout of the T7 is excellent for its price point. It feels like it’s built from quality materials that will last for many years. It’s also fairly lightweight and portable. I really appreciate that they gave this thing retractable legs, which can help in a number of scenarios offering extra space below for cable management, a laptop stand placement, and varying the height of the controller a bit if needed. The feet have traction pads that grip the surface so that the table doesn’t slide around while you're using it. The T7 has a fully comprehensive custom FX section allowing you to adjust your music base, treble, pitch and so much much more. I’m still learning to use the FX section, but so far it’s working great and I couldn’t think of anything I would change. Another innovative feature is the ability to upgrade the fader section of this controller. I think this is a great option since somebody like me, a newbie, doesn’t need the most high end fader to start with, and the more affordable factory fader that comes installed is perfect for my needs. That being said, I love that I have the option to upgrade it as my talent also upgrades, with practice, I hope. I’ve been using this with DJuced software, which is free, and although I still have a lot to learn, I think I’ve gotten a hang of the basics and I learn something new each time I use it. I love that Hercules provides the DJ Academy videos on YouTube and I highly recommend any other beginners like me to watch them all as you learn to use this new controller. There really is a lot to learn, but I’m confident that I can do it with the help of the DJ academy videos. The music that you use in the software can be played from locally stored files on your laptop or can be sourced from integrated streaming services. I’m really pleased with the Hercules DJ Control Inpulse T7 and I’m having so much fun learning how to mix music and DJ. This is something I’ve always wanted to try and now, because of this innovative controller at an amazing price point, I’m finally able to try it out. And I love it! I highly recommend this DJ Controller to anyone who wants to try mixing music or who wants to become a DJ.

The Impulse T7 is a greet setup that offers the ability to mix with working moving platters, yet it’s all digital. The T7 has many features built into it that is controlled through either 2 programs: DJuiced or Sarato DJ Lite. While both programs offer different features, they essentially function the same way. Along with the main unit, the T7 comes with 2 – slipmats and 2 – 7” vinyl records, a power cord and a USB-A cable. The T7 has 2 moving platters without the need for the arms or needles. The way this works is when you play a song, the master drive automatically starts spinning acting as if you’re playing a vinyl record. These function the exact same way as normal turn tables, you can scratch, rewind, fast forward all by spinning the vinyl and it works flawlessly. The T7 also has 4 kickstands that fold out and act as feet for raising the unit. This is great for connecting cables as well as giving you better reach. Setting up the T7 is very easy, you plug it in to your Mac or PC, download the software, then download the free programs. I mainly used DJuiced because I liked the layout and the design better. Even if you’re an expert, I recommend reading the manual that you can download, as it offers some very useful tips on how to use all the features. Some of my favorite features that the T7 has is the ability to turn off the vocals and hear just the music, or you can turn off the music and hear just the vocals. This is really useful when remixing songs. The rotating platters are very impressive as well, I love how you can use any 7” vinyl record to put on there and it doesn’t have to be the ones that came with the unit. You also have the ability to customize the pads, you can make loops or customize effects. On top of that, you can import your iTunes or any MP3 file you already have and play it in DJuiced and mix it. This may seem a little overwhelming, but it’s actually very easy to use. Overall, I love the Impulse T7. This is truly a fully controllable DJ set up that offers everything a DJ would need. The moving platters are really impressive, you wouldn’t even know that these aren’t playing a record, the way they control and respond so flawlessly. The number of effects and customizing you can do is really impressive, and you have so much control over how you can mix and DJ. There is also an option to upgrade the fader section in case you want other options. The 2 software options are very easy to use, but hard to master because there is so much to offer in the programs. Whether you’re just starting out, or you’ve been dJaying for a long time – the T7 is definitely a great option and it makes djaying so much fun.

[PROS] Portability/Adjustable: Weighing around 11lbs, the Inpulse T7 is designed in a manner that makes it easy move around different platforms or transport when needed. When it comes to the setup, the feet rises the controller to a preferable height and allows me to accommodate space for my laptop. Design Structure: The combination of the moving platters used with the replica vinyl and slipmat makes using this controller a unique experience. The motorized platters move adequately, and with the vinyl, I'm able to work my techniques. In this digital age, it's nice to know that the "archaic" way of DJ'ing is still being catered to. Side note: I look forward to upgrading the slipmat to add my own unique spin. Ease of Use: The software in conjunction with the color indicators found in the FX and other sections keep me aware of what's going on while I use the controller. As it relates to software, I'm partial to the DJUCED given that it doesn't require a paid subscription. Upgradeable Faders: For my novice abilities, the faders work fine for me. I did notice that they do seem to have a bit of a "give" to them. But, I could see myself possibly desiring an upgrade as I become more experienced. [CONS] Entry-Level: This is not a con for me, but this is a negative for anyone with higher expectations. There are some things that are missing or limitations that would not make this controller your first and last controller. Also, I did wish it came with a case at least for storage, but that's more personal. [CONCLUSION] I enjoy my newfound entertainment device for functions and gatherings. The T7 is an entry level controller, but it's extremely useful. I would highly recommend it.
