It is horrible, the picture is horrible, the sound is also very bad. Spend a few extra bucks and get a Samsung

Wanted a small/medium 1080p TV for the bedroom and this fit the bill! Was hesitant to buy a brand that wasn't the big three (Sony, LG, Samsung) but I didn't want to spend the premium that they charged either. I mean this is a bedroom addition. So I was looking at TCL and HIsense and some of the AV forums were raving about these brands so I decided to take a chance! That chance ended with Hisense and I really think I made the right choice! For the price the 39H5D is a well made TV. It's not going to match any of the more expensive high end brands in terms of build, but at the current price, this TV is way better quality than I expected! It's really a steal! The picture is horrible out of the box. But with some tweaking ( which I am still working on ) the TV began to shine! It's a nice picture and the blacks are very good. Not OLED good and nothing is, but for the price the blacks are deep. Colors are natural and not overly saturated and light bleed is minimal and not noticeable at all. Overall, with some tweaking you can get a very, very, very nice picture. Sound is also quite good and better than I expected. In fact everything about this TV is better than I expected! LOL! If you are on the fence I would recommend this TV. Perfect for the bedroom or small apartment. Hisense has come along way since they came to the U.S. and this TV showcases some massive improvements! I've only had it for a couple of days but so far I am very happy. Hope it lasts! Thanks Hisense for making HDTV affordable!

Had done some looking into Hisense tv's and a lot of people said good things about them. So taking the leap to try one out and did. Got the 39 inch smart tv for 200 bucks. Unboxed it and it's a beautiful Tv. Bought a wall mount also and was very easy to mount. Right out of the box the picture was very good. Clear,clean picture for me and I haven't had to do any adjusting as far as color or brightness. The picture is really good, in fact I think it is better than my Sony smart tv that I paid like 700 for. Really happy with this purchase. Things that might be a con for some people: volume once you start going past 9 or 10 go's up quickly and is loud. The sound is very good and you can change modes also. Single button control, there is one button on the tv that allows for control if input, volume and everything. Also you might have to figure out how to get to settings to change picture quality. Once you do its easy to get back to. Easy with remote, little bit tougher with single button.So that might bother some, just don't loose the remote. The remote is very easy to use and some complained about mirroring and YouTube connecting. Mine connects right away and works great. I like having a YouTube button on remote because my son will play my phone and I don't have to mirror with my phone, I just use the tv. For the money, this is tv went way beyond my expectations and is a great value. This tv is just that good, I really love it and meets all of my needs. I would highly recommend this tv to anyone that wants a great tv for very little money. It is awesome.

I bought this TV as a quick affordable smart tv and it's been fantastic. Picture is great and lightweight.

Nice TV for the price, one of the few in this category and price range that actually has a component input. Picture is really good, but takes lots of tweaking with "ECO Mode" enabled by default it makes the picture quite dark. A quick change to increase the Minimum Backlight level fixed that in a hurry, note that it is unique for each input (nice, actually because you can disable it for say a game console). The sound is what frustrated me for a while, the volume seemed to just change randomly all the time, almost enough to make me take it back after a few hours... Took me a while of playing to figure out that in the full Sound Settings menu there is a section called DBX TV Audio Enhancements, and in that menu there is an option called "Total Volume" with options of Off, Normal, and NIght. If you having varying volumes all the time, change this to Off and everything will be right in the world in again. As far as the "Smart TV" portion, it's OK, but very laggy... I kept my Roku stick connected because it was so laggy, but I didn't really care that this TV had Smart functions or not. There is also no way in Pluto TV to register this device to your account, so you can't get the "extra" channels. Again, I didn't get his because of the Smart TV features, I really don't care if they work or not. Overall, for a Roku stick, Xbox 360, Blu-Ray player, and a Rasberry Pi display, it works great. For the money, you can't really go wrong.

Just hooked up the tv. It is good but nothing special. You get what you pay for. My only question is about wireless headphones. We like to listen to the tv at night with a jvc wireless headphone. On our old tv you could switch between the headphones and the tv speakers. On this tv it seems like I have to plug the headphones in whenever I want to use them and unplug when not using. This is a pain as the port is in the back of the tv.

I haven't used it yet because I need to run/hide an extension cord but know HiSense TVs look sharp/bright and the price was good so I'm not worried about that. An issue I have but didn't see anyone else mention, though, is that the legs of the TV are not designed correctly and it makes the TV itself VERY unstable. The holes for the screws on the bottom of the TV do not seem to be deep enough to allow the screws to be installed completely which leaves the legs loose and the TV dangerously wobbly (can tilt toward the front and back). I have it on a dresser so that's a problem. I had to rig it by placing homemade washers (really just tiny squares of paper folded numerous times) between the TV base and legs, and that resolved the issue, but it's tacky and I find it quite surprising the company messed up something so elementary/fundamental.

We had originally bought the 39” Insignia Roku TV for our daughters bedroom and returned it after only a week because we were so unhappy with it. (It kept kicking us off WiFi and I know our internet was not the issue, it seemed to lag behind a lot and it also kept turning off when I would raise or lower the volume) After reading some reviews we decided to give this Hisense TV a try instead and I am so glad we did! It is such a great buy for the money. It’s been over a week now and I do not have a single bad thing to say. It was so easy to set up, the volume is great and it doesn’t lag behind whatsoever. I did read some reviews saying that the picture needs adjusting but truthfully I didn’t see anything wrong with it. I am so happy we returned the other one in time and got this one instead. I would definitely recommend this tv and plan to buy more Hisense in the future!

Sound is fantastic, picture and color are perfect . Couldn't ask for more at this price.

This TV is a good size and cheap! But I wouldn't consider it a good "smart tv." Some apps such as Netflix and Amazon video come preloaded with the TV, but you can't download other apps such as Hulu and HBOgo with it. You are better off getting a Roku TV.

Ok TV with a fair quality. No problems or issue haven't appeared yet

We had this for less than 8 months and it died. It was originally purchased to use as a temp replacement while our big screen was being repaired. After a couple of weeks it was placed in our bedroom, and obviously used far less than the main tv. I will never buy this brand again. Absolute junk and not worth $100 let alone $200.

I cannot get NETFLIX on this smart TV. We have tried every trouble shooting method available. Very frustrating. Bought this for my college age daughter for her apartment specifically for easy access to NETFLIX. This is a known problem with this TV.
