Advanced warning: be extremely careful when taking this out of the box especially, in addition to any time you move the TV, that you don’t apply pressure to the screen. I opened the box from the bottom and didn’t see the note near the top that warned me not to touch the screen. Luckily no damage was done but I’d hate for anyone to wreck their TV before ever turning it on.
Moving on... go ahead and hit the checkout button and buy this sucker. Out of the box, the TV is real simple to setup. You need a Phillips screwdriver to set up the base, which anyone can do, unless you’re planning to use a wall mount, which is sold separately.
The TV is quite light, very thin, has an optic connection, composite, connection, two USB, and four HDMI connections as well. It should be noted that the TV doesn’t have physical buttons on it so try not to lose the remote.
Setup is simple, it asks what language you’d like, connects to your WiFi (it is a smart TV after all), and then walks you through the rest of the setup process based upon your preferences.
This TV can be used by anyone but will definitively favor Android users as this TV is compatible with your Android device and will help you set that up through the connect process. Connecting through an Android device not only streamlined the startup/sign in process but also gives you better control of the apps. It’s not a make or break scenario, but it’s extremely helpful and efficient.
Once setup, you’ll notice how crisp, bright, and colorful the television is. The picture quality is breathtaking and runs great.
The sound is arguably better than the picture as well. It comes across as full, the bass is noticeable, and the tones are deep. I was truly mostly blown away by the sound quality.
The TV turns on incredibly fast and the home page is like that if your smartphone, with apps as far as the eye can see. You can customize and download apps, reorganize them, and personalize the home screen a bit. It’s really nuts that this is how far TV’s have come where I can hit the power button and within 20 seconds, Netflix has loaded and I’m back where I left off with Stranger Things.
I tested the TV with gaming, music apps, and video apps and everything came through without a hitch. The audio and visual quality on this just blows me away.
It should be noted that there are a couple cons, but nothing major. With the TV stands being legs near each side of the TV, you’ll need a pretty wide TV stand for the to be on. I wasn’t prepared as my previous TV had a thicker base in the center, which is more practical. When using the remote as a curser on the TV, it can be a bit laggy and isn’t as streamlined and smooth as you’d hope. This makes it take noticeably longer to switch between menus, input login formation, etc. Lastly, the instructions manual is a bit lacking which leads you to trying to figure out plenty on your own past the initial setup.
That said, I can easily recommend this TV as the pros far outweigh any cons. The audio and visual output is just fantastic and this is great for those wanting a solid 4K TV without breaking the bank.

This is by far one of the cheapest “high end” TVs I have ever had. Some of the features and settings in this TV I don’t even have in a TV that cost 10x as much. Some settings include individual color tuner under Picture > Calibration settings and an Audio only option if you want to listen to music without using the power for the screen. Also with this running Android TV, it easily connected with my Android phone and imported my account and network settings. Once connected it did need to run some updates, but had several of the typical media apps already installed. It even has its own buttons for Netflix, YouTube, Google PLay and VUDU on the remote.
This is my first Android TV, but I enjoyed the familiarity of Google, to include voice activated Google Assistant through the remote. There is a decent variety of apps available in the Google Play store, from video or music streaming to straight up video game playing. Some games will work with the remote, however several of them require a gamepad. I use the Steelseries Stratus XL and it easily connected via Bluetooth with the TV, which you can also connect a mouse, keyboard and headphones. The Play store is kind of limited though as you might look for your favorite phone game. However, being that this is running Android 8.0, you can find ways to install anything you want to. Although, the processing power of this TV is that of a mid to low end Android phone, so, even if you do get that one game installed, don’t expect it to run at it’s best. Also, there is only 4GB of storage available.
As for standard TV capabilities it has Four HDMI 2.0 ports all labeled as 4K @60HZ and one with ARC. It also has two USB ports, one with .5 amp max, the other at 1amp. It has standard Ant/Cable, Ethernet, Optical Digital Out, Red/White/Yellow Component input and a 3.5mm headphone jack. If you intend to use an HDR capable device, it will work on any HDMI port so long as you go into the TV Menu > Picture and change HDMI 2.0 Format from Standard to Enhanced.
Quality of the picture, with the right picture settings, looks colorful and detailed. However, I felt that it was a little dull, as in it could use more backlight brightness. However, it was still good enough for a well lit room, provided you sit directly in front of it. If you sit at any angle from this screen, everything appears washed out and even more dull. The full array backlighting works decently for low lit scenes, but the refresh of the screen appears slow with a bit of smearing in fast images. Also noticeable in a full bright screen is dimming in the corners.
Audio is loud and clear, but sounds tiny, as many low budget TVs sound. There are settings to help give a fuller sound depending on your preference, but all sounded tiny.
I have used this TV as a PC monitor and a gaming TV both in 4K HDR as well as streaming movies on Netflix in Dolby Vision and Youtube in HDR. With the Picture setting in HDR Game I didn’t notice any input lag. However, in high contrasting motion there is a blur effect that is noticeable, but not game breaking. If you don’t have it already, Netflix requires the upgraded 4K account to take advantage of Dolby Vision. The built in Youtube app had some dropped frames when watching 4K HDR content, but I think that is more of processing power of the Android system than the display as playing Youtube through my PC on the same video had no issues.
Overall, for the price, this is a feature rich TV that can be the center of entertainment while letting you take advantage of 4K HDR and Dolby Vision content. It has the likeness of a high end TV with the signs of budget TV.

This Hisense TV is a budget value oriented TV set. I feel it does a good job at showcasing 4K content with vivid colors and clarity when you have a proper 4K feed being displayed. The Android TV software is a big plus and really makes this TV stand apart from others. This TV features ULED technology, local dimming, Dolby Vision HDR, and motion rate 240hz.
Overall the picture quality on this TV is good, but not excellent. I feel as if the light bleed just has a haze or washed out feel to the screen. I also am comparing what I’ve seen to higher end Sony, LG, and Samsung TV's I saw at the store the day before. Those TV's cost a minimum of twice as much as this Hisense set, so you truly get what you pay for. The Hisense does a good job at making content easily available all in one spot. Access the Google Play store via Android TV and you can install apps you like to make your TV more efficient and suitable for your needs.
I wanted to love this TV, but instead was just ok with it. I like the slim design and nice looks of it. The bezel is very thin and minimal, so it makes the screen look big as it goes almost all the way to the edges. The remote is easy to use and allows easy access to menus and home screens. This TV has plenty of inputs as well to plug in your various devices. 4 HDMI ports, 2 USB ports, ethernet port, antenna input, AV in ports, headphone port, and a digital out port. Usually at this price point the manufacturers limit it to 2 HDMI ports so I was glad to see the generosity of Hisense on this.
I would recommend this TV for anyone wanting to jump into the 4K TV market, like myself. I think the value offered on this TV is spectacular and truly is for someone that is ok with a middle of the road picture quality. The features this TV offers make it an even better value as you don’t need to add on multiple streaming devices since you can utilize the Google suite to stream the content you’d like by installing the desired apps. If you’re looking for more stunning picture quality and darker blacks and contrast, you’ll be better off passing on this. But for the price point, this TV is a deal for the majority of folks I know.

The Hisense 50" LED H8F 2160p Smart 4K UHD TV is pretty slick looking with a very slim bezel. The casing is solid and has inputs including 4 HDMI, 2 USB, headphone jack, Ethernet and digital audio optical output. The ULED panel includes several higher end capabilities usually found in more upscale models such as HDR picture with local dimming and a wide color gamut. At this price point the TV is very configurable with multiple ways to customize your picture, however the end result is somewhat lackluster.
Playing 4k video varies and is generally pretty good with online streaming services such as Netflix (make sure you have their top tier level of service which offers 4k and Dolby HDR titles) and with the already installed YouTube App. I commented to my wife when I played some 4K YouTube video taken with a camera on a gimble it looked like I was walking through NYC. Streaming from my Network Attached storage of 4k video taken with my iPhone looked very good, but my Canon SX70 superzoom taken video was jerky and demonstrated some digital artifacts during scenes of high contrast and motion. Not sure what the issue is as the same video does not display the same behavior on my Sansung 4k computer monitor or when downscaled to HD on my LG plasma HDTV. I am going to try different settings and tweaks to see if I can improve the issue (such as using a hard wired ethernet connection instead of the built in WiFi) but others have commented about similar issues. Bottom line though at this price point I am not expecting a top of line display.
The TV uses Android TV as its operating system and as such is tightly integrated with the Google Play store. I can say, having a few other smart TVs and streaming devices with different OS's (tvOS, webOS and Roku) Android TV fits somewhere between Roku and AppleTV as my favorite TV experiences.
All the common apps are available via the Google Play store, including the standard Netflix and YouTube apps preloaded (with a dedicated buttons for each on the remote) along with other video based apps such as VLC Player and DS Video (both to access my multimedia collection on my Networked private cloud device/Network Attached Storage) and the Tablo app to access my Tablo over the air device (with the best implementation of the app on any TV platform). Generally speaking the Android TV OS is pretty good interface and speed wise, even though there are some odd things that occur within the interface, especially when configuring logins and things like an IP address (a field which shouldn't accept non numeric values, unless this TV is IPV6 capable).
In any case, I'm pretty happy with the TV and the overall experience. Frankly I would like a better display paired with the TV OS considering all the options (more than are usually available on TVs at this price point).
Pros:
- Price and features
- Android TV OS
- Very intricate picture controls
- App availability
- Voice Integration and setup with Google Assistant, Amazon Alexa
- Decent speakers for a thin TV
Cons:
- Picture quality is mediocre, issues with motion blur and contrast blooming with some sources
- Remote could be backlit
- No native support of the Amazon Prime Video app

This T.V. is stunningly beautiful after tweaking with the settings. My brother recommended this T.V. for my budget, and he wasn't wrong when compared to the rest in the same price range. I love android T.V. even though it can be a little slow sometimes. This is ideal for cord cutters, as a lot of free apps are available to download.

The Hisense - 50" Class - LED - H8F Series - 2160p - Smart - 4K UHD TV with HDR is a value priced Smart TV. I tested it with a high quality sound bar, which I highly recommend, as the thin package of LED TV's today enclose rear firing speakers which bounce off of drywall, or other material behind the TV, and acceptable voice clarity demands a Soundbar or external speaker system.
The TV is super easy to set up with the onboard Android operating system. The TV can be mounted on the wall easily with a VESA compatible mount. No spacers or mounting bolts are included, however.
Generous external connections include 4) HDMI, 2) USB, 1 Coaxial Cable, Component Video, Cat 5 / 6, IR for audio (see photo detailing all connections).
Picture quality was Very Good; while it lacked the stunning sharpness & contrast ratio of a Reference Standard OLED TV, the colors are properly saturated & the result was very acceptable in virtually any lighting condition..
The included remote is well designed & intuitive; however, it lacks a backlight. WiFi reception is exceptional. I connected it wirelessly across the house from my router running 1GB Digital Fibre & there were no delays whatsoever when watching movies or TV.
Apps are easy to load; however when loading HULU on the Android system that this TV utilizes, it does not allow the latest HULU "Live" TV, where you get the local channels. You can only play back TV & Movies; HULU LIVE is not an option. Amazon Prime is another "No Show". I solved this by plugging in an Amazon Fire TV Stick 4K. Problem solved! HULU Live & Amazon Prime perform beautifully through Input 1. The problem was: the Apps on the Android operating system are dated. This is most noticeable with HULU & Prime.
Be sure to update the TV Operating System first before you set it up. Alexa will turn the TV on or off & search for viewing content, a convenient benefit. I recommend changing the TV name to a friendly one that you can remember when you set up Alexa.
CONCLUSION: With local dimming, Dolby Vision, a well designed Smart TV System, a thin, lightweight profile, & a great picture, what is there not to like? This TV impressed me enough to earn 5 Stars & a High Recommendation!

This Hisense 50" tv has exceeded our expectations and you can't beat the price point. It is wall mounted in our bedroom and the size works quite well. I really like the look of the thin bezel.
Set-up was quick and easy. We had no problems connecting wirelessly to our internet and found the tv interface to be intuitive and easy to use. The H8F is an Android tv with built-in Google Assistant. All of the popular apps like Netflix, Hulu and YouTube are available for easy streaming. We were able to easily connect our Directv remote to operate all of the primary tv functions.
The picture quality is quite good. The 4K ULED, 2160p resolution and 240 motion rate specs are pretty impressive for a tv that is very reasonably priced. The color, contrast and brightness provide a very enjoyable viewing experience. Sound quality from the 10W main channel speakers is more than adequate as a bedroom tv.
Hopefully, this Hisense 50" tv will bring us many years of enjoyment. So far we've found very little not to like about this tv and would strongly recommend it to others.

Excellent tv. It has many competitive features that the pricier brands have for a fraction of the cost.
It comes with two stands that sit at each corner of the tv. So you may need a wide table/stand (I didn't see they could be re positioned more towards the center, I think the larger models do).
Build quality is great. The TV supports HDR+ and Dolby vision. It has full array local dimming, that gives great contrast and great blacks. One can control the strength of the local dimming (sometimes to avoid white halos). Many other tv's that are more expensive don't even have dolby vision nor FALD. Great tv features for the price!
Also, being an android tv, the interface is quick and one can use the apps that can be downloaded from the google play store, or any content can be streamed and controlled to the TV via any chromecast enabled device (be it a phone or tablet). Great and convenient feature! There was firmware update from the get go, so make sure you update for fixes and feature updates!
Sound wise, it was great and has many surround options, albeit, like any flat panel tvs, a sound bar is highly recommended!
I highly recommend this tv to any one looking for a great feature set and low price!!!

This ULED TV has really impressed me. When I first saw the price tag I was a little hesitant, but that changed once i got it set up to see the quality and capabilities it has to offer. The reason I enjoy this TV as much as I do I is because of 2 primary reasons; features and quality.
The TV has all of the bells and whistles, its able to connect with just about any smart home controlled apps such as alexa or google assistant. The interface of the TV is like no other i have ever seen. Its interface has every app you wouldd ever want accessible at the click of a button. Some streaming apps even have a button located directly on the remote. Apps are not the only thing available, games are also a cool options for the kids.
Next is the quality, again, I was not too familiar with the brand prior to this review, but from what i can tell its right up with the other leading brands in the space. The light color is crisp and bright and the black
and dark colors are impressive too! The local dimming is a cool feature too in case this tv is located in a bright or darker than usual room.
All in all, a great tv with a very affordable price tag that should be able to easily stream or game at a high rate of quality.

Since most of my TV time is either in the daytime or late at night, having a display, clear and bright, is appreciated. The built in speakers are more than adequate and for even better sound my SONOS sound bar plugs right into the Hisense ARC HDMI port. Worked right the first time.
Besides great picture quality, the TV channel scan found 48 channels with only my indoor antenna. I will later try my outdoor unit on a rotor as I live 50 miles between both Milwaukee stations or Chicago. So, as a straight TV I picked up 1080p, 720p and even standard quality broadcasts. My early morning breakfast viewing of news, weather, sports and traffic came through with no pix-elation.
Features I feel are top notch and important to me:
* four (4) HDMI ports for all my components
* ARC port support ( sound bars and amplifiers)
* Easy to use and comfortable remote control
* android built in with Chromecast
* voice control .... google HOME assistant
* LOVE the wide legs of the TV stand or use the VESA mount on the back
* most of my favorite apps built in and worked right away
EXAMPLE: TabloTV , worked right away thanks to the TV's built in WiFi
* optional hard wire Ethernet in addition to built in high speed WiFi for video streaming
* very thin outer frame becomes almost invisible, for edge to edge picture
** WiFi setup using my android

I never had a 4K TV and was looking for an inexpensive way to enter into the market. I have heard great reviews about this brand and decided to try it out. I am very glad I did as it was very easy setup and almost picture perfect right out of the box.
Pros:
Price per Features
Picture Quality
Ease of Use
Smart Apps
Google Talk
Cons:
Slowness transitioning menus
Sound Quality
Viewing Angle
::Setup::
The un-packaging , install and setup was very easy with walk-through's easy to follow. Out of the box the picture was almost dead on, there is a little tweaking with brightness / contrast however colors , tint was pretty much on par.
::Picture ::
The picture quality is amazing for this price point!! There was no dead spots and the motion options works well. Unfortunately when trying to view at an angle you will see a difference in picture versus viewing it straight forward. For myself it does not affect me because I have a small living room and never watch tv at a corner of the room.
::Sound::
The sound is average, it has synthesized surround sound however unable to directly modify treble / bass. For the price point I am not too concerned with the sound because the picture and features way surpass this.
::Smart Apps::
I love the Smart Apps and features this TV has. With the ease of 1 click of a button you can enter into Netflix , home apps and others. Hulu works great and love the suggestions it provides on the screen.
Overall I would strongly recommend this TV to anyone who wishes to enter into the 4K market at a great prices. I have not experience any problems with this TV and so thankful to have taken a chance on it.

Review for
Hisense - 50" Class - LED - H8F Series - 2160p - Smart - 4K UHD TV with HDR
The first thing I noticed about this TV is the price. You cannot find this range of features in a TV this size anywhere else.
Out of the box, the unit is easy to assemble (four screws into the two feet) and super simple to set up. If you have an Android phone, it’s even easier, but the menus walk you quickly through basics and Wi-Fi.
I was pleasantly surprised by the brightness of the screen. The new ULED tech from Hisense is said to improve quality and contrast and I have to agree.
The remote is smart and well designed, including buttons for common apps like Netflix, Youtube, and others. If you pair it (also easy) you can use the microphone in the remote to access content using your voice.
The app menu is intuitive and fast! It’s easy to choose an app and then content with a few clicks and the response time was impressive.
Finally, I like the number of connections supported by the TV: 4 HDMI, 2 USB, Digital Audio, Ethernet, as well as the more common RCA and headphones.
The only thing missing in my mind, is a simple connection to Amazon Prime Video. It’s an Android TV, so not surprising, but I believe a TV should be agnostic about streaming platforms.

Pros
- TV is very responsive
- great quality for the price
- audio sounds above average, can get very loud without sound distorting which is really good
- TV is very light and thin and looks really nice and sleek
- More than adequate quantity of HDMI ports
- VESA mount compatible
Cons
- A bit grainy when video is dark, but you can try configuring settings to decrease the noise on the screen
- Although responsive, there are times where it does lag a bit if too many inputs are received at once.
Overall, I would get this TV again in a heartbeat.

First off, this is a great TV for anyone in this price bracket. If you are a Google or Android phone or Chrome OS fan, this TV is definitely for you. I had returned another TV that had the Google Assistant built in. That TV's OS was really too layered. It is reminiscent of Android back in the day coming from iOS, very cumbersome. I love the Pixel phones for what they are, Android how Google intended it. Android TV gave me that in a TV, with a few caveats. The first is it has Chromecast built in. At first glance you'd think it is great. You're not wrong, it just doesn't hold up to the same standards as a Google Chromecast. I love the idea of the Ambient Mode. With a regular Google Chromecast, there are way more settings that there are from the built in version. Not a huge deal, but I do love the ChromeCast experience overall and really miss that. I could put a Google Chromecast on the TV and regain those lost abilities, but why should I? Just update the built in version to perform at those standards.
The TV itself, is great in overall design. Thin bezels, thin width and overall just a pleasure to look at. I love the remote with the GA (Google Assistant) built in it. The only negative about it is when pushing th GA button, it can be slow. This is something I have noticed with Android TV though, it is not frustratingly slow; just a little slower than what you should expect from Android. This should be able to be fixed with a software update.
Speaking of updates, the Hisense website is a little sparse in my opinion on support. There is nowhere that I could find on the site to actually download the current firmware via USB.
Again, this are just my brief opinions and for those that are tech minded.
From a basic TV buyer standpoint...you will not go wrong with this TV. The design is great, the picture is great and navigating the menu is simple yet more than sufficient.

Great screen for the price, details not polished

This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.
For the price range, this TV is the best in terms of spec: it supports wide color gamut, full array local dimming, and a claimed peak brightness of 700 nit. This puts it in the same range as the TCL 6 series, or the Vizio M series TV.
First, the good part: the screen does deliver wide color gamut, a high peak brightness in an HDR scene, and a local dimming that is functional in certain setup. According to some professional reviews, the color accuracy is not great; but for a normal person, I am happy to just look at the vivid colors. My only complaints about display quality are the obvious vignetting and the slightly sluggish local dimming. However, as a budget TV, you cannot ask for more than these.
The build quality is also pretty good, the back panel, frame, and stand are all made of metal.
The "smart" features for this TV is also pretty nice, as it is using android TV, which has probably the most software applications available. This is much better than the Vizio platform and slightly better than the TCL Roku platform.
However, there are still certain issues that cannot be overlooked. The first is the implementation of HDMI CEC is really poor. When TV is turned on, the input switches crazily between all inputs connected to the soundbar, and all devices end up turned on.
The audio output through HDMI ARC is also error-prone, and there is an obvious delay for the audio. This means that one has to connect all device via their soundbar or receiver, provided that their system is advanced enough to support HDMI 2.0 passthrough, and has enough ports available. (Alternatively, one can use the optical output on the TV, however the optical out only supports LPCM, so any surround pass-through is out of the question. )
There are additional minor issues: switching type of input signal (such as between RGB and YCbCr, changing color depth, which is common when changing between SDR and HDR content) could resulting a completely messed up display and would require restarting the TV. Brightness cannot be changed without turning local dimming off.
As mentioned, the price-performance for this TV is good. However, software implementation reminds you that this TV does not come from a first-tier brand.

I’ve had this TV for about a month now, and I gotta say I’m pretty impressed.
The quality is probably the best you could get at this price range. It just blows similar priced TVs out the water visually. The design of the TV is great also as it’s very thin and sleek.
I have been using this for HDR gaming mainly and watching 4K movies as well. Uncharted 4 looks breathtaking and its not even in 4K. This TV upscales non-4K content very well. I often think standard HD media is in 4K when it isn’t.
The only bad thing I have to say about the TV is the software. The Android TV OS can be slow at times, and often hangs. My TV had froze 3 times since I got it. I used to have a TV with Roku OS and apps would open almost immediately. This TV it takes 2-3 seconds to use an app after starting it. Also I wish there was a way to check/close open apps as when I have multiple open, it gets pretty slow.
Honestly, all the stuff wrong with the software is nowhere near enough reasons to not get this TV in my opinion it’s still a very amazing TV and I’m very satisfied with my purchase

I have done testing on different platforms to see how this Hisense H8F will perform. I can say for the money this is an amazing tv. Colors are vibrant, it can get pretty bright with it rated at 700nits, has deep black levels with local dimming, good highlights and HDR is pretty good also. Played several video games from gears of war 4, days gone, mortal kombat 11, call of duty and they all played and looked fantastic. I will recommend to enable ‘game mode’ to reduce input lag while playing video games. Tv apps and controller inputs are pretty quick and doesn’t feel sluggish. My Dish is only a 1080i signal but it upscales it and looks great, it’s nice and clear. Watched some YouTube 4K HDR content and man it looks crystal clear and so vivid. A couple of downfalls I’ve noticed is in some movies or shows there is some moiré effects. Mainly in hair or striped clothing, stuff like that. It almost flickers. The best way to fix this is to put the motion enhancement to custom with a setting of judder reduction to 6 and blur reduction to 2. At that setting I feel like it almost gets rid of the moiré effect completely but doesn’t make it look super smooth like the soap opera effect. The other downfall which a lot of led tvs struggle with is the blooming effect when the screen is black and has something bright on screen. My expensive sony 900 series does the same thing just not as bad. It’s not as noticeable in a brighter room but for a bedroom tv where it is dark it’s more noticeable. Overall for the price you pay I feel like this tv is excellent and going to be hard to beat. It exceeded my expectations for a 4K UHD tv under $400. I would definitely recommend this tv for people on a budget or just wanting a good tv in the 50” range. Also just FYI don’t get a TCL 49” or 50” because for some reason they have crosshatching issues and makes the screen look not as clear. You can see it in the store.
I would recommend this to a friend

I was looking for a new TV for my new place, something bigger than a 32" I currently had. It's a small apartment so I needed something bigger but nothing to big to obscure a wall. I was wanting some more advanced features than the standard 4k entry-level sets. I wanted something around 55" or so, with at least HDR10 and 4k smart capabilities. I came across this lovely set, with Dolby Vision, local dimming and smart TV capabilities via Android! The best part was the price of $330! I was sceptical of a set this low with features more advanced than a standard 4k. The Dolby Vision is terrific, standard HDR10 is also fantastic, sharp details, accurate colors and suitably bright. It's not gonna compete with OLEDs or higher priced TVs, but it has plenty of features to make it a worthy TV for film lovers and tech savvy people. And for a great price and nice design, you could do worse!
