I’ve had issues with this tv since day one. It freezes and crashes. The update made it 100x worse. It’s really frustrating, sometimes I can’t even use it. The picture is great though.

Impressive 4K HDR Display for the Price

When looking at budget displays you tend to purchase them knowing there will be some short comings, trying to get the most bang for your buck while sticking to a wallet friendly price tag. I am not a fan of most budget televisions, however this TV from Hisense nearly closes the gap! The television itself is slim and has a near bezel-free design, I do appreciate Hisense going with a black finish on the bottom bezel and stand with a little gloss to help blend in to dark scenes while not being a basic plastic. The stands held in with 4 Phillip head screws (2 on each side) and have little rubber feet at the bottom to help from scratching your TV stand. Setup was very easy, using my Android phone I simply followed the prompts to configure all of the Google account settings needed without having to manually log in using an on screen keyboard. You can also set up the Android TV app which will allow you to control the TV on your smartphone, the main part I appreciate is being able to type what you are searching for in any app using this app. 4 HDMIs all capable of 4K, HDR at 60HZ, everything will work at optimal performance when you turn on Enhanced under the HDMI 2.0 settings. I did turn on the "smart viewing" feature allowing the device to detect the input being displayed, other than the HDMI setting I mentioned before I did not have to tinker with any settings to get my PlayStation 4 Pro or Xbox One X to output 4K @ 60Hz. I did change the settings for both the HDMI port these devices were plugged into to run in Gaming mode. Overall playing on this from my usual OLED wasn't a huge sacrifice, there was some color banding and you do get a little more backlight showing in dark scenes, however the 32 zone array that lights these screens helped compared to an edge lit display. There are times the zones seem to light up quite a bit of the screen when an emblem is spinning in the corner, this is mostly in loading screen so I won't knock it too much. I played with the android apps a little, watched a few videos on Youtube, some VUDU and downloaded a couple games to test them out. You will need a bluetooth gamepad for gaming on the TV, which can easily be paired in settings. 4K content was definitely vibrant and the colors really popped to me on very colorful scenes. There are a few apps for Android TV, there should be something for everyone, I do feel it is a little lacking in some parts, my one hope is that next year this android TV will be useable for Stadia! The remote is a little bulky, and I do wish it was back lit, it is well layed out as other have mentioned, everything is where you would expect it to be, reminded me of the layout on a universal remote provided by your cable provider. I really didn't use it a lot, I would use the built in Google Commands to switch inputs or apps, primarily using the remote for power and volume. Speaking of commands, Google Voice is on by default, you can however enable Alexa in the settings. Overall, the H8F definitely is an amazing display, there a couple things on the wishlist. However, a display that can hold it's own next to the major brands that are 3 or more times the cost of this display, I wouldn't count this set out. If you are looking for a 4K friendly set for your kids, parents or just want an additional 4K set in another room without breaking the bank. This will be my go to suggestion when I am asked for a reasonably priced 4K set.

Here's my review of the Hisense 50" H8F TV. I have been using the Hisense H8F for a few days now and I am impressed. This TV is an incredible value for money smart TV. Comparable to much more expensive well-known name brands.I would recommend this TV over other brands and suggest you invest the money you save in a home theater system to get the most out of this TV. Out of the box, the Hisense H8F build quality is very good. This is not a cheap, plastic feeling TV. Solid metal feet (tip: you need at least 40" of cabinet space for the feet) and a frameless screen. Again, this is comparable if not better to brands you would know and pay a lot more to buy. The Hisense H8F has 4x 4k HDMI ports, as well as composite, optical, and 2x USB ports. Android TV has come a LONG way since I last used it. The version that ships with the Hisense H8F is cleaner, no bloatware, and very responsive. If you use an Android phone you can streamline sign in and setup rather than typing in your details (at least that was the case for me with my Sony Xperia). The only limitation with Android TV is that the Hulu app hasn't been updated (blame Hulu) and Amazon don't currently make an Amazon Video app for Android (blame Amazon). The Hulu app does work though and if you miss Amazon, there are ways to side-load the app onto the TV if you're motivated. Picture quality is AWESOME! I haven't changed anything from the defaults and I can't fault the quality. I have heard people make comments about dark corners, but that's true for any OLED/ULED TV unless you spend a LOT of money. Honestly, I barely notice it. Sports, Games (PS4), and streaming video were beautiful. This is a TV where you will want to pay for an Ultra HD Netflix subscription. I have a few movies I own on Vudu in HDX format and it was like watching them in the cinema. The remote control is well laid out, I do wish it was backlit - not a deal breaker, but would be nice. The remote has a microphone and a dedicated Google assistant button. So you can press the Google Assistant button and search and more. A tip - the microphone in the remote is in the middle of the remote, not the end (there's a discrete microphone logo you can see and also a blue light when you use voice). The remote is responsive and there's an additional pairing step you need to do if you want to use voice. The remote can also work as a universal remote with your cable box (manual has codes for DirecTV, Spectrum, Comcast, Dish). The audio quality from the default Hisense H8F speakers is surprisingly good (with Dolby Audio support) but I have paired this TV with a Sonos Beam (HDMI 1 is ARC capable). The Hisense H8F does have optical audio out if you prefer. Again, this is why I recommend buying this TV and using the money you have saved to get a great home theater. But don't be mistaken, you could quite easily use the inbuilt speakers and be happy. One of the things I have started to like about the Hisense H8F is a feature called "Smart Viewing". This uses some 3rd party service that recognizes what you watch and dynamically changes the picture and audio quality. If it's not to your liking you can switch part or all of it off - but I did notice it made a noticeable difference to the display. Setup tips. First set up, if you are prompted, do take the time to download and install the firmware update. There are also several Android updates you should install.

This TV marked many firsts for me. First Android TV, first 4K TV, first 50"+ TV retailing at under $400. Wow. The 53" TV I have in my "theater" room was $3000+ back in the day - my have things changed! Many people have talked about the specs - the ports, etc which you can read in the details. I'll skip that. I go right to the first thing I did - which was to mount it on the wall in my Master Bedroom. There in lied the first issue - it doesn't come with mounting screws. That's a BIG negative to me - I feel the manufacturer should just have 4 screws already threaded into the holes in the back of the TV. So - I had to make to - hope it doesn't fall! Once up - it connected easily to my network, downloaded some updates and we were in business! The Android TV home page comes up first - and is well organized and clean - a much better experience than I expected. Picture quality is great for a sub-$400 TV! I can't complain for my bedroom big screen. Would I spend and expect more for my "theater" TV - yes, of course - but really - this picture looks great for anyone that isn't an expert! I really like the built-in Chromecast feature - and used that a ton already to finish the GOT series - finally! Streamed flawlessly with not issues. Sounds quality from the build in speakers is way better than expected, but I still have ti connected to a sound bar to project the audio forward rather than down. Overall - if you are looking for an updated 4K TV and are constrained to a tight budget - this TV is an excellent choice.

I went into Best Buy wanting to purchase a Samsung tv but was convinced that this tv would give me better"bang for my buck." Since day 1 of setting this tv up, it has been nothing but a headache. My main complaint about this tv is OS. The OS is very slow and becomes unresponsive frequently. When pressing any button on the remote, the tv lags behind a considerate bit. To make matters worse, the apps that are pre installed on this tv are no longer working correctly. Even after resetting the tv it still has these issues. I would not recommend buying.

Right out of the box, it was great. Then the next day one of the HDMI ports had a problem. I changed ports after speaking to Hisense since they said it was my cable. Now the port I moved it to is having a problem with a pixelated picture. It is ok, but I'm not necessarily fully satisfied.

not happy with the picture compared to comparable low budget TV's like the tcl picture may be better but I don't like the tcl due to the smart tv being roku and no way to browse the internet like the other TV's, but still a little bit disappointed in the android apps available for the tv.
