no Apple TV Plus app and you cannot add it. You could use airplay if you want to cast it from your Ipad or Iphone. Deal breaker for me. So back to Samsung I go

    A true smart TV

What I love about this TV is I don't feel the need to add streaming device (apple TV, Firebox,Roku). I was able to download all the main apps I use from the google play app store. Unlike some "smart TV's" that just come 2 or 3 of the main apps perloaded and you can not add to them. This one you can. And with an android phone setup was a breeze. After logging in it transfers your user names and passwords saving you time from logging in to each one individually. And the picture quality is out standing for this price point. You get a lot of TV for your money here. Has very good viewing angles. A small bezel, bright colors, nice motion rate. And plenty of ports to hook up external devices, You get 4 HDMI ports and one of them is ARC, 2 USB, Optical audio port, an LAN port ,AV and a 3.5 mm headphone jack. Has a voice remote. The internal speaker sound very good and can get purdy loud. I mean they won't replace a home theater system but dose sound better than some low end sound bars I have owned. I was able to link it to both amazon Alexa and by google home. In the end I would recommend this TV to friends and family. From watching movies to playing games this has been a good TV so far. Quick recap, easy to use apps easy set up voice remote 4 HDMI ports great picture good sound

    It's A Good TV - 50" version

Physical/Exterior - all black including the bezel (vs. silver bezel). That's a plus. Thin bezel (of course the bottom is a little thicker for the name; which is just like any other tv; so that's all good). What I absolutely do NOT like about the tv is that the bottom half (or so) of the back of the tv is very fat, like an old school flat screen. What's that about? This is 2020. Slim it out. The tv has lots of ports for connections, including 4 HDMIs, 1 RCA (but no component, which is weird; unless I missed something), 1 or 2 USBs, ethernet, headphone jack (which is in the back with the other ports; not sure why a tv this size would have a headphone jack, but ok). Forgive me if I missed any. Size - nice a big. Not too heavy. I could lift it myself with no struggle (in terms of weight). Remote - good size (not too big) but still has the numbers on it, which is a big plus. My main tv remote does not have channel numbers on it (which is annoying). No illumination. Google voice button on it for voice control. Setup/Settings - Setup was fine. It found anything it needed easily. The settings themselves leave a lot to be desired, or I am not finding things. I usually do not have a problem navigating settings to find stuff, but it seemed to be skimpy. I wanted to reorder the app favorites (which is the first row of the home page), but I couldn't find how to do that. I also wanted to delete some apps from the apps favorites row; but couldn't find how to do that. I am simply not fond of the home page. Picture quality - good picture quality. Not better than my current main tv. But I am very particular about that sort of thing, so I know what I expect to see if I don't see it. However, the picture quality is very good, sharp and clear. Also, the colors are very vibrant. All of this is out of the box. Sound quality - it's loud. Other than that, I would definitely need a sound bar, but again that's me. The sound sounds contained, like it's stuck in that big box space in the back of the tv, with not enough speaker to escape. Although, like I said, it can get loud. Also, it can go low without sounding like it is skipping some numbers (in other words, a good gradual decrease). Voice control - works fine. I had no problem setting it up. Voice control is a cool feature and she talks back to you. She will NOT turn on using voice, BUT she will turn off using voice. You can switch apps using the voice, adjust volume, do an overall/general search (such as this kind of movie or that kind of movie ). Voice is okay, but for somethings I might as well just use the buttons because I still have to push the Google button on the remote. Apps - I am still trying to figure somethings out. But the apps work. The picture quality of the apps (i.e. Netflix, Hulu) is fine but the picture quality on my streaming device is better. Also, with the tv remote, I cannot rewind and fast-fwd as easily as I can on my streaming device (on tv, I have to keep pushing the rewind/fast fwd; but on my streaming device, I simply push once and it will keep going; I can push up to three times for 3 different speeds). Overall, it's a good tv. I personally would not get it over a couple of other brand favorites; but it is just fine for non picky people. The average tv user would love the quality of the tv. So for that reason, I would recommend it for those who are fine with a good tv. Disclaimer - TVs always come in series, and higher series tvs are usually a lot better in picture and sound quality than lower series tvs. Example, this tv is an H8. Let's say the other tvs in the series are H7 and H9. That means I got the middle quality of the lot. My favorite brand would probably be less good in quality if I picked from the lowest in it's series. So that can factor in. As I said, it's a good tv. Peace.

I purchased a Hisense H8G TV based on its impressive reviews. I've used it for almost a week already. Compared to my three old Samsung TVs, I am not satisfied with its picture. I've tried different settings already. The smart function and sound are satisfactory though. I intend to return it.

Android users will rejoice with this TV, but non-Android users will it just as good at a great price. From the excellent picture to absolutely AMAZING sound, it’s a great addition to your house or place of work. More on each of those below. Starting with the Android integration, the Hisense 50H8G 50” SmartTV runs off the Android OS, giving users many of the apps and features of an Android phone, with the added convenience of incredibly easy set up once your phone and the TV are paired during set up. Using the Google login on my phone, the TV immediately connected itself to my WiFi, and logged in all installed apps like Google Play Music, Netflix, Amazon Prime, etc. by simply choosing to add the TV to Google Home during that setup process. This beats the usual process on a new smart TV of adding the apps and using your remote to navigate the on-screen display, not to mention remembering all your passwords. The TV also has built-in Google Assistant, so asking your TV to turn the lights down or what the score of a game you’re not watching is can be done simply by saying, “Hey, Google” or pressing the Google Assistant button on the TV remote. I did find, however, if you have another Google Assistant device in your house within earshot the Google device will pick up & process the request prior to the TV getting it. But, if there’s not one within earshot it will do anything a Google Home or other Google-enabled smart device can do. If you’re locked in to using Alexa, it also has an Alexa Assistant option, but without the same extensive options. Display: As mentioned earlier, even if you’re not an Android user you’ll love this TV just the same (and maybe it will sway you toward Google!). The TV features a 4k UHD ULED screen with a crystal-clear picture & great depth of color, with deep blacks for contrast. At 700 nits max, it is more than bright enough to be used in a fully sunlit room with no degradation of picture quality or washout. And with a motion rate of 240 (120Hz), I noticed ZERO stutter or lag when watching the TV. Videos shot at 4K60 absolutely popped on the screen, even when watching those from a streaming source like YouTube. If you’re using the TV to game, the game mode gives you even better response rates and cuts down in input lag to the display. If you’re using it for a PC, you’ll see a 3840x2160 resolution. The TV features 4 HDMI ports, plenty to support your cable box, a game console (or 2), and still have a spare to do an ARC soundbar if you choose. Sound: Sure, there are ports for a soundbar, but you may not need one. I was overwhelmed with the quality and power of the built-in speakers on this TV. On most TVs, you get a “tinny” sound, low base, and just poor overall quality with the built-in speaker. But on this TV the speakers give you beautiful, full sound with surprisingly deep bass, more than enough to fill up a room. I used to have a separate speaker for streaming music in the room, but since have switched to using only the TV speakers since the sound quality is so good. There is also a quick menu option for disabling the TV display (until you hit a button on the remote) to shut down the picture if you’re only using it for music. One issue I do have with the sound is maybe it’s TOO powerful. I’m finding on the on-screen “dial” for volume, that a volume level of 6 is loud (and it goes to 100). At 13 I’m being told by everyone else in the house to turn it down. So relationally, the volume gets very loud very quick, which does take away some granularity in the volume levels. The remote gives you all the normal functionality, plus access to the Google Assistant with a single button, as well as instant access to 4 different streaming platforms at the push of a single button. Other streaming services or apps can be easily reached with the “Home” button and then arrowing down the app you’re looking for. I also added a wireless media keyboard to the TV with a wireless USB dongle, giving me the ability to type in the app search areas versus having to use the on-screen keyboard with the remote (the TV features 2 USB ports). Bottom Line: This is a great TV, both visually and audibly, for anyone looking for a well-priced TV for home or work. The integration with Android and ease of initial set up make this even more attractive to those of us on Android phones, but even without Android you should give this a serious look.
