Awesome TV Technology!!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Let me open this review with one keyword, “IMPRESSIVE” as Hisense has really gone above and beyond in offering top-notch TV technology at affordable pricing. The following are some notable areas that are worth mentioning: -Unboxing and setup The unit arrived from a trucking transport company, Old Dominion who as the driver explained to me does residential deliveries from time-to-time. Due to unfamiliarity of this company, I was really concerned about the TV arriving damaged, but after unboxing, it transported safely! The box has a beautiful colorful graphic that very well depicts the picture that the TV shows. I live alone; therefore, I requested my dependable neighbor to assist me with the removal of the TV. They had the TV packed securely, but it does take 2 people to remove it comfortably because of its massive size. After my neighbor and I removed the TV, he prepared to wall mount the unit in my room which gave him an arduous time due to my living in an older home that was built with oak wood. What normally would have been a 30-minute hang took him 2-hours, but the mount is so intact and sturdy a person can literally hang on comfortably and the mount will NOT bulge! -Connectivity & Control My neighbor always jokes that he is the “brawn of the operation and I am the brains!” As a true Android girl, I was elated to set this TV up within its ecosystem. I took a quick trip down memory lane and I recalled purchasing my first Chromebook which required my setting up a Gmail account; however, I would not have known how powerful the ecosystem would become as it is truly a dominant force in industry. The connection is straight forward via Internet as the TV guides you step by step throughout the process. I have both Google Assistant and Alexa, but most things in my home operate via Google Assistant such as my door locks and lights. The TV has apps such as You Tube, You Tube Kids, Amazon Prime, Pandora to name a few. Additionally, you can obtain your favorite apps from the Google play store as well. There are 3 HDMI ports and 2 USB ports. The HDMI ports come in handy if you desire to connect your computer to your TV. I am truly ecstatic about this option because I have a computer table below my TV equipped with a night light, monitor, and laptops which I interchange and docking station. I am a college instructor and since acquiring this TV, I plan to connect my laptop via HDMI and use the TV screen. -Picture & Sound Quality The picture on this 4K TV is beautiful which amazes me at this price point! I watched several YouTube videos and the picture and sound were really good! I do not confess to be an expert on picture bezels; however, I am quite pleased with the performance of this TV as picture showing is clear and concise. Sound on this TV is AWESOME as it gives a theater-like sound effect when watching movies. The TV’s volumes are explosive as I had to turn it down significantly from factory set. The volume set at 11 or a bit less works great for me. I connected a flash drive into one of 2 USB ports to hear my playlist of 300 plus songs. While the connection was flawless and included album covers of some of the artists; however, the bass on the unit was less than impressive. I suggest when listening to music because of lack of bass, connect a soundbar or strong device that will enhance listening experiences significantly! -Slide Show Pics This TV has the coolest graphics from various artists (I refer to them as artists because the pictures are professional in nature with name recognition). The scenes are immersive, rich, compelling, and simply breath takingly beautiful! I have a confession, “I have watched the screen show more than I have watched actual TV!” There are scenic bridge scenes, flowery images that represent spring and summer in a robust way, waterfall images that connect the mind to scenic mountains with wonderment of how nature causes water to flow so voluminous through rocks and greenery; abstract colors that are so richly embedded that the eyes just look in amazement. Additionally, there are bridge scenes with the coolest lights that would attract anyone’s attention with awe! There are also some pics of animals in their natural habitat that captures them amazingly well! I commend Hisense for bringing ease of mind with some of the most captivating pictures! I know there must be 100 or more scenes as seemingly, I discover something new daily. Thanks for taking my mind on an incredible journey right from my bedroom which has afforded me a good night’s rest and start of each day on many levels! -Conclusion If you need a solid TV that really defines the word entertainment from various perspectives at a great price-point, then please consider Hisense as they are developing into a powerhouse name in the electronics ecosystem!

Worth a look.
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I was looking for a bedroom TV that offered some more smarts than our current one. This is a nice step in option to that with all the built-in streaming apps, Google and Alexa. The image quality from a more direct facing position looks good. As you move towards the sides though, the image does start to degrade. Keep that in mind for whatever your room arrangement is. The image did take a while to dial in as when I first fired it up, the image looked washed out and the colors not right. Despite hopping through the presets. Over the course of a week and fine tuning over different images/shows/movies, I finally got it where I’m happy. This is more work than I had to do with my other two most recent TVs so that was a little disappointing but oh well. The sound is surprisingly good. When I first hooked everything up, I had my sound bar as part of the setup. When the TV first started playing sound, I didn’t realize it wasn’t the soundbar until after it cut out for a second as the soundbar picked up the audio. Of course you’re not going to get the full audio spectrum and deep sounds for movies, but for day to day TV watching, it would do well. Navigating TV menus is fairly straight forward and you don’t have to scratch your head digging for a setting. The remote Is Plane Jane but having dedicated buttons for Netflix, YouTube and Google Assistant are a plus. If you’re looking for a new TV, don’t hesitate to give this one a look. For the price, the TV has a lot to offer.

I bought the 50". Not impressed at all.
||Posted . Owned for 2 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Maybe it's because the 50" doesn't have many local dimming zones like the larger H8G models (I read that somewhere anyway), but I thought the picture was terrible. It was way to bright and the bright areas spread out and ruined the image. I tried tuning the display in a variety of ways, but couldn't find anything that worked for me, and this TV made my eyes hurt, due to the brightness. I also thought the colors looked phoney and unnatural. I then decided I didn't want to spend time trying out different low-cost models anymore and I to forked over the $ for an 55" LG BX model. The picture is a thousand times better. If you can afford an OLED, get it. The only drawback I saw with the OLED was that I have a window behind me and I can see it's reflection in the display. I have blinds on the window but they don't keep all the light out... I'm ordering some blackout curtains to take care of that.

This is how you do HDR on a budget
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The 50H8G sets out to deliver the kind of experience associated with high-end TVs at an affordable price point. And it largely succeeds – delivering fantastic image quality, a capable Smart TV platform, and better than average sound without breaking the bank. The main panel of the set is a ULED LCD – a tech currently unique to Hisense that seeks to marry the performance of OLED panels with the longer lifespan and lower cost of LCDs. These have been out for a few years, and produce some of the best image you can get out of an LCD panel. They’ve augmented this model with a quantum dot layer, which helps improve the transmission of red, green, and blue light from the backlight to help make colors pop. It’s a subtle effect most of the time, but when playing HDR content that can take full advantage of it the display looks absolutely radiant. There are also a variety of post-processing options to further improve image quality such as motion smoothing, noise reduction, and upscaling. Personally I don’t like the effect most of these have on image quality and as such turned them off very quickly, but if you like motion smoothing or watch a lot of sports I suspect you’ll greatly appreciate the top tier performance these features can offer. The TV uses Android for its app platform, which should be familiar to anyone with an Android phone. Performance is excellent, with no slow downs, crashes, or stuttering that I could see. App selection is good, though as with most smart TV OS’s apps for Google’s direct competitors are either absent (Apple TV) or underwhelming (Prime Video.) If you rely on these a lot, you might still want to invest in a separate set top box. But for most everything else, you can probably get by just with the TV. Additionally, the Android platform allows you to link the TV to the Google Home ecosystem to control the TV with your phone or any Home compatible smart speakers you might have. It is not quite a perfect implementation at this point – support for a few basic functions like turning the TV off doesn’t appear to be implemented yet. But hopefully this is something that can be addressed in future firmware updates. And the integrated chrome cast works flawlessly. Finally, there’s the sound. It’s very hard to find a TV with sound that could be considered great these days, since the best speakers generally need more room than you get find in a slim TV’s casing. But the 50H8G has enough depth in its design to include speakers that are better than average, and features full support for Dolby Atmos. True audiophiles will likely consider a good sound bar to be a must-have accessory, but for most I suspect the built-in audio will be more than enough for a TV for the bedroom or a small living room.

Terrible TV
||Posted . Owned for 2 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I've had this TV for under 3 months now. It constantly locks up and needs to be forced to restart. Now there are purple circles forming from the edges. Hisense and Best Buy like to send me to the other one. I have a lemon here. The panel is nice if you can get rid of the bubbles and the android interface.

Full function google tv
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. It blows my mind how inexpensive TVs are these days, and this one is packed with value. It comes with Google, so when you get it set up, it can work just like your Google Home, but with video! You have access to the play store and there's lots of apps that are available and compatible. I really wish that it would have come with a web browser, or that google has one available because I'm a little nervous to install a 3rd party browser I never heard of. Speaking of setup, I had a little trouble setting it up. Google home couldn't find it to add the device, but google settings worked. However, Google Home can't seem to find the TV when it's turned off. When the TV is turned on, it doesn't treat it like a chromecast like I expected, so it can't be grouped with the other devices when you want to play music on it. I'm leaving feedback with the google team to see if they can fix it. It was pretty straight forward to assemble it -- the feet are keyed so you can't put them in the wrong hole or backwards. One big suggestion though -- they should print the unboxing instructions on the outside of the box, or at very least have them available on a flap. Unboxing instructions are inside the quick setup guide, and by then it doesn't really help unless you have to re-pack the TV. The picture quality is really really impressive for me. The colors are bright and vivid. I can see way more detail in shows and movies that are dark, so I have a whole bunch to re-watch to catch some hidden details! The sound is also impressive. I wasn't expecting much, but I can make do without a soundbar in a smaller room. It has some really good depth and clarity. I think this TV is a great value and having it in the Google ecosystem makes it very convenient to use.

DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Don't do it. Don't buy this product. I bought this TV and within 1 month it's completely unuseable, none of the HDMI ports are operating. I've had 5 calls into thei support line and invested 2 hours of my time on hold with nothing to show for it but a case number. They're so disfunctional, they can't even get their email to work so I can send them my proof of purchase which is required to be provided in order to get service. I've emailed it to them 10 times. No joke. Please listen to me. Take my advice and stay away from Hisense. Product stinks. Support is even worse.

Good Value, But Needs Tweaking
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.A 4K HDR TV in this price range is impressive. Hisense delivers some good features for a lower budget, but the TV requires some adjustments before you get the right picture out of it. Right out of the box, the image was pretty dark and not as detailed as I would expect. Although there are a ton of options and settings, I essentially had to turn off most of the special stuff just to get a decent picture. While playing a UHD blu-ray, things got dark again. Apparently this is fairly common for HDR playback in general, but it means there's even more tweaking needed in order to get a decent image. That said, once I got the image to be where I like it, I'm really happy with how the TV performs. There are plenty of input ports, the screen looks crisp and the overall unit is fairly light. It does feel a bit plasticky, but understandable at this price point. Also the sound: Not bad, actually. It performed better than I expected and had some depth to it. Overall, not a bad bit of tech.

||Posted . Owned for 6 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This TV is honestly a nice tv till it breaks. I bought this tv on March 18, 2021. It has been 6 months and it wont turn on anymore. The tv still have power but the screen won’t turn on. I tried doing every reset for the tv and it just wont work. Outstanding 4K Tv with tons of features!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have been using SONY and Samsung TVs until now and Hisense 50H8G - Quantum 4K ULED TV is first one from Hisense. It is ideal size for my teenage son bedroom. It came with perfect packing and took few mins to unbox the TV from the packing box. It came with remote, leg stands, batteries and quick start guide. Setup is extremely easy and connected Apple TV, Xbox one in HDMI input ports. It has 4 HDMI ports, 2 UBS 2.0 Ports, 1 Ethernet port, 1 Composite Video and Headphone jack. It has built-in Wi-Fi and Bluetooth as well. I watched few movies and shows in Apple TV+ and the quality is outstanding. The ULED technology with Quantum DOT over a billion color combination enabled crisp and vivid picture quality. The HDR experience is amazing due to seven hundred Nits peak brightness up to ninety local dimming zones. I have tried Game mode and noticed huge improvement on controller inputs and there is no lag at all. It comes with built in google assistant and amazon Alexa which can be used to control TV using voice commands. It is an excellent feature to control home devices like lights, thermostat etc. Dolby Vision HDR provides an incredible new vision for experiencing favorite games, movies and shows by adding dramatic color, contrast, and brightness to every second of every scene. It has 240hz motion rate and it provides great motion clarity during fast action movies. The Dolby Atmos sound is huge plus and creates immersive audio experience. All other apps can be installed easily after configuring the account. Hisense definitively changed my mind as I have been buying TVs from SONY and Samsung. With the features like great picture quality, Dolby Atmos, HDR and built-in other features, i will be buying more Hisense TVs for kid's rooms and loft in near future. Overall, it is outstanding TV with so many excellent features and highly recommend to everyone.

Bad Lifespan and Bad Customer Service
||Posted . Owned for 1 year when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Would not recommend this TV. After a year and a half, the unit won't power on and Hisense customer service will not work on TVs out of warranty (which is only a year). Pretty ridiculous that a $400 TV will only last a year with no ability to repair past that.
