Best TV you can buy for the money. I bought this TV for the family room after my Cat knocked over my Samsung MU8500 TV. I already own an LG E9 OLED, so I wasnt looking to spend a lot of money on a secondary TV. I gotta say that this TV is better than my Samsung, im a few ways, which is pretty amazing considering that my Samsung was $1200 (in 2017) and this TV is $380. Thanks to the quantum dot panel, it has deep rich blacks with minimal blooming and rich colors. Local dimming is surprisingly good, decent response time and low input lag (good for gamers.) I also like the Android TV UI, which I think is one of the better UIs for TVs. I wish it had a native 120 Hz refresh rate, but I can look past that when considering the TVs price. Pros: good local dimming, surprisingly dark blacks, decent HDR, low input lag, price Cons: 60 Hz refresh rate Overall, this TV should make most people happy, and while it may not be the best TV money can buy, it checks off many boxes. If you're looking to save money on a new TV, this the TV to buy.

This TV delivers a near high end experience at a low end price point. Design is excellent, with slim bezels and sturdy metal feet - this price point usually comes with plastic feet. Remote isn't a design standout but it gets the feel in hand and the layout right, plus it is voice enabled. Comparing a variety of TV OS, this version of Android TV is excellent, very easy to navigate and with a nice looking UI. The UI fluidity is nearly as good as a Sony TV also running Android 9.0, which is a big complement to the Hisense. Picture quality is where it hits a homerun at this price point. Support for HDR10, Dolby Vision, even HDR10+ (though it's particular with how it works with this last format) is a rarity to have all combined. Very bright screen in SDR, and also quite strong with HDR performance - you can spend a lot more on other TVs and still not get the same HDR capability. Black levels are very good with a solid number of local dimming zones, which makes a huge difference compared to edge lit sets. Blacks are inky in mildly lit to bright environments, and only very dark rooms or off-axis viewing can expose minor amounts of blooming, but that's to be expected. Color performance is also solid - a lot of pop, and surprisingly more natural than expected. Sony has the top spot for natural color performance, but the H8G is quite close even without many tweaks - no weird skin tones that can ruin the viewing experience. Motion is also better than expected, if not great. Lot of motion options available, which is great to tailor to preferences - Film & Clear modes do a good job of removing judder & stutter without causing much soap opera effect. Go above that and you do get artifacts, but that's to be expected on a budget set. Speakers are very powerful, have a surprisingly wide soundstage and above average bass. A weakness is that voices aren't as clear in the mix, but the H8G has a lot of sound customization and it's easy to clean that up and reach your preference. Audio output of both Dolby Digital and DTS, which is great for soundbar users when some other TVs are dropping DTS support. Gaming/monitor use is great, the game mode provides very low input lag and the screen is terrific even up close, with no DSE or vignetting. Not everything is excellent, noted a few minor weaknesses and other things like gradient performance are just OK, but overall this TV provides a nearly high end 4K TV experience at a lower end cost - true segment leader.

Since the first days of Android OS, it showed that it has a very high potential. Today, Android attached to high resolution 50 inch screen is giving you a very high definition and very smart TV. Nothing like any other classic TV used to be known. Google app store provides a lot of apps and a lot of options to use this smart TV. Running any internet streaming service (YouTube, Netflix, Amazon Prime, YouTube TV,..) is made just easy. Setting up the TV is very easy using your smart phone. Connected to your WiFi network, you have a very capable TV. With that, some other disadvantages like: OS updates and some apps that are taking (sometimes) long time updating. The way to run around some issues would be in forcing restarting the TV (using the remote control). You would have such issue only in the first days of use. A work around that is just to let the TV sit for like 24h after setup to let it work on all the updates. The Quantum 4K ULED screen is very crisp and really nice to have over the chimney. The best size so far. Visible from all angles without lack of luminosity. The TV volume is on the high side. Even when set on low levels. Not bad at all (for most my usage). The remote control is very capable and has a very easy and clear layout. Very fast learning curve to use without looking to it. Range is ok and nice google voice integration. The size is on the big size but still, it is very light and easily mountable on the wall. Also, it has several connecting ports and all placed at the right corner. It would be nice if it also has some clear buttons for more control (without using the remote). I'd really recommend this smart Android TV because of what is capable of. Usually, I try avoiding big names in way to get the best quality for less spending and this TV is a nice investment.

This TV has great image quality, period. When you take the price into consideration, it's a no brainer. It really excels with movies, or really anything that's dark. The black levels are amazing, the trade off is that you won't get great viewing angles. The image washes out a bit when viewed off to the side. The metal legs are also a nice touch. I traded in a Samsung Q60 for this, which had plastic legs. The local dimming feature also works really well. When watching a movie with black bar insertion, the bars are almost pitch black. Really, you'd have to spend significantly more on name brand to get a better image. Personally, I think you'd have to get a Samsung Q80 or Sony X900 to do better.

My 2nd HiSense TV. The first has been great so I tried another. This TV has everything feature you could want. Dolby Vision, Atmos, ARC, HDR, and a great picture. The bezel is thin and the build quality is good. I hooked it up by Ethernet and it found an update immediately and installed it. The picture display from both a steaming device and a UHD Blu-ray player has been superb. I have it hooked up through an AV receiver and the ARC passes through all the formats from OTA TV. I use Fire TV so didn't need the google setup. The built in google setup is nice though. All of the apps you want, and if you hook it up to your google account, you can access your google information and apps. However, if you don't, just read all of the options carefully to you can opt out of all of the tracking, recording etc. Setup is easy. The remote is simple to use, has quick access buttons to all of your popular services, and a microphone voice services. The mount is a 300x200 VESA, and with the TV being light, easy to hang. The main issue is the picture, it's great. Well light, no banding, or other issues. The blacks look great and colors pop. If you go into settings, you can change the picture to suit your needs or use the preset options. The channel finding process for OTA on a cable connection was easy, and it found all of my local channels. As my 2nd Hisense TV, I have to say they are a pretty good value/bang for the buck product. Even with easy setup and features, the main thing is the picture, and it’s a great picture. On sale, this TV is one to beat in its range.

I bought this to replace our secondary TV, a 12 yr. old 37" Vizio. It took several days to get it calibrated properly, but the end result is definitely worth the effort. (I used the Digital Video Essentials HD Basics disc and got the color settings close enough that I decided not to bother with my SpectraCal colorimeter. There is a bit of lean towards red in the mid-tones, but so little I'll don't notice it even with a B&W movie.) The image is almost the equal of my plasma TV in our main viewing area. Deep blacks, crisp images and excellent color rendition. The one negative is the narrow viewing angle. The old set's was almost 180 deg. which I do miss. But as long as we sit on the sofa directly in front of the set, it's fine. If we sat close enough to actually be able to see the full 4K resolution, it would, however, be a problem. Even two side-by-side might be a squeeze.

    Great Gaming TV

I bought this TV specifically for gaming, so this review is intended for gamers only. One note. I like to game in 1080p because I prefer framerate over resolution. And many games, that I know of, will lower the framerate to 30fps when you up the resolution. 1. Input Lag. Very low input lag in game mode. I believe tvrtngs had this at around 11.5ms. Now, I have been gaming on the Sony X900E which has around 32ms. Switching between the two, the Hisense TV was much more responsive. I actually was very surprised I didn't notice the lag on the 900E until I switched to this tv. 2. DSE/Clouding. I guess I got lucky with this model. There is very little DSE or Clouding. Nothing distracting when gaming. I had the TCL at one point and remember the DSE being so bad, I had to return the tv. However, I'm am very happy with the screen uniformity on this model. 3. Picture Quality. Picture quality is good. For gaming, it is fine. The screen does seem a bit overly bright, and it will take some tweaking to get it the way you like. 4. Motion Blur. The TV does have a bit of motion blur. It isn't as clear as the 900E. One area I take points off is if you try using the motion clear setting (not really recommended for gaming, but it is there to use), it does clear up the motion. However, it severely dims the picture to the point everything is washed out. And tweaking the settings does not help at all or very little. 5. Colors. Colors are fine. If you want more comic book like colors, there is a color setting where you can set it to Native or Auto. Turn the Color settings to Native if you want the comic book color feel. If you want more natural colors, leave it at auto. 6. Another area I deduct points is this strange effect I see with a lot of TVs. It might be because it is a VA panel, but my Sony 900E does not have this problem. The issue is sometimes when you move side to side or up and down (mostly first person shooters), edges around certain things smear. For instance, a window with a white frame, if you move quickly side to side, there seems to be a brief red smear. It seems to happen only around certain objects, and is mainly in dark rooms but sometimes can be distracting if you notice it is there. I've seen this problem a lot worse in some Samsung TVs. Hardly ever see it in Sony TVs. But it is there and thought I would mention it. I also, at one point, had the LG 7300U and the smearing/ghosting in that TV was a lot worse - to the point I returned that TV. 7. Sound - I have a surround system, so I didn't test the sound. If you are a serious gamer, you probably have a similar setup. Overall, I am keeping the TV. I could have bought a more expensive one, something like the Sony X950G, but since this tv was only $350 compared to $1000, I didn't think spending the extra money was worth it. The only real issue I have with this TV is the strange red smudge issue and again, it isn't there enough to make me want to return the TV. If you are looking for a TV specially for gaming, I think this is one of the better budget ones out there at this time.

After spending a couple months researching a few tv's and talking with store employees I decided to give this TV a try. I recently bought a new PC with the new RTX graphics cards and I wanted a TV that could also act as a monitor. This one goes a long great with not only my PC but also my Xbox. The picture on this TV is amazing. I was coming from a 40 inch smart TV without HDR and that was one thing I was looking for. This TV has not only HDR but Dolby vision as well as quantum technology. I could go on and on about color with this TV but I won't. I'll just simply say it's amazing. Now I did see some reviews about internet not staying connected or dead pixels but I have not had any issues. I've had this TV for about a month now and am simply impressed. The picture on it I'd actually better than another TV I had recently purchased for one of the bedrooms in my house, which happens to be a Samsung TV. I was not too familiar with Hisense at first and was a bit sepitcial on the brand but I did my research and found that they were associated with some major brands that I typically use such as Sony and Toshiba so that put me to ease. Honestly this TV is worth getting. Yes sometimes TV's get shipped out defective but that doesn't mean all TV's will have the same issues. If you are looking for a nice TV with all the new technology without spending $1000 I'd definitely recommend this one.

At this price range, the H8G excels in almost every aspect you could wish in a Smart TV, doesn't have variable refresh rate or 120hz but I only use for watching tv because I play on a monitor, if you wanted for games it could be decent but as smart tv is incredible the colors this panel produce, the HDR content is amazing and speakers are as good as you could get from TV speakers.

I had a 5 year warranty on a high sense 55 inch TV which was swapped out for one that supposed to be brand new 2022 of the same make and model. Exchange was on August 10th didn't receive the TV until August 26th. Pulled TV out of the box and set it up on a TV stand instantly noticing it was very cheaply made compared to my last one. Even the remote control is just very cheap far less buttons than my last one. Today September 26th I had a frontier internet technician. Come over and he pointed out to me that the screen and rear case of the TV was separated a good quarter inch. Didn't notice it before because that side of the TV was facing the wall Plus being partially disabled I wasn't able to really stand and inspect it well upon delivery. It was obviously dropped. Now my Best Buy app Is telling me that my 30 day return date has expired even though delivery took up over half of that time. Not happy at all wish I could get my old TV back. Even with the speaker issues my old TV was much better.

Sound = Very loud, clarity is okay, could be better. Picture = Great, viewing angle could be better, it's bright enough for an entry-level HDR experience. Remote = awful, sometimes it doesn't register my input. Feel cheap. compare this to an LG, Samsung, or sony around its price range and it will blow it out the water. So definitely a great choice if you're looking for a quality budget TV.

This tv was purchased to replace a 10 year old Samsung plasma tv. This is the 2020 Hisense H8 50” that was placed in a bedroom. Unboxing and set up of the tv was really easy. The android tv operating system runs smoothly. Features wise it has everything anyone would want. 4K and HDR content look really good! SD and 720p looks good as well. The only thing with this tv is that it doesn’t get terribly bright. It’s definitely good enough for my bedroom. If you need really bright I think the H9 may be a better choice. This TV is hard to get in stock at the store especially with COVID going on. It will probably not be on display either. I took a chance and ordered it in store. Delivery was fast via UPS but the box was banged up pretty badly. Luckily the damage to the box didn’t affect the tv itself or it’s performance so far. All in all I’m very pleased with my purchase and I’ll consider Hisense TVs in the future.

I wanted to upgrade from my regular 4k TV to a bit more special TV without breaking the bank. My main criteria are excellent screen quality, and HDR support. This TV has excellent blacks, sound is good, HDR is awesome and my PS4 games are much better now, game mode is really a magic. There are a couple of drawbacks too, screen refresh rate is only 60hz, no HDMI 2.1, sometimes colors look washed out, I had to max out the colors (especially noticable while playing Witcher 3). Over all it's a good TV for the price.

TV was shipped quickly and factory packaging was adequate to protect the item from rough handling by the shipping company. Unpacking and minor assembly was straightforward as was hookup and interactive setup. Picture quality, including contrast, colors, and definition is outstanding through all inputs, including "over the air" antenna signals. Sound quality of the internal speakers matches or exceeds sets costing twice the price. The only things that I would consider downsides are that the remote is not back-lit and the signal meter for adjusting the signal strength of an outdoor antenna is useless as it has only two indications. It indicates "0" when there is no picture available and displays "100" anytime that a picture is available, even if the signal is weak and the picture is distorted due to a weak signal. In summary, these cons would not be a deal-breaker for me if I were to consider the purchase all over again. I am very satisfied with the purchase. Fantastic value !!

I bought this based on the recommendation of multiple professional reviews. This TV is capable of incredible image quality for the price. While high end TVs come out of the boxw with the best settings for the best image quality. Here you are going to have to fiddle with the calibration asked image settings a lot to get an optimal image. If you are willing to put in the work, you'll get image quality comparable to a TV twice the price. I would recommend turning off all image processing such as motion smoothing and nose reduction, or you will get sync problems between audio and video. I don't think the processor is up to snuff. Also, the local storage for Android is only 4GB, so don't go crazy installing apps. Install only what you need. This isn't without its flaws, but if you're willing to mess with the settings and put up with the flaws, you'll get a TV with incredible image quality for the price.

Fantastic picture especially for the price. I got lucky and paid $349 for it. Replaced a 10 year old 47 inch LG that was getting dark around the sides. Colors are vibrant and the picture is clear. Can't stream 4k much because of bandwidth limitations but 1440 (QHD) and 1080 look great. Android TV is fast and easy to navigate. Just with they had an app that would allow me to use my phone and earbuds to listen late at night like I can do with Roku. Just plugged Ruko into HDMI and use it at night. Google really should have a much better remote app that actually works with Android TV. That's the only problem I have with this set. Sound is great and better than a low end insignia sound bar I previously had hooked up to my old LG which had terrible sound and was 3x the price. Looking forward to see if the 55 inch H9G comes down in price. If so probably throw this into bedroom or den. Until then I'll just deal with this amazing set in the living room.

Trying to upgrade my outdated 32" LCD to a mostly future proof 4K setup had me scared about price, but after some shopping around, I found this great 4K tv for a super reasonable price for the 50" model. My PS4 Pro games look stunning with very little input lag, solid color representation, and fairly solid HDR implementation. The built in speakers also sound surprisingly good for how slim the screen is, to the point that I've put off buying a pricey soundbar for now.

All-in-all I am impressed with the picture quality of this set. You still will have to tweak the settings to get the most out of it. Several websites can give suggested settings to get you started. The Hisense has a very generous number of connections (4 HDMI-one is an ARC, 1 optical, 1 USB, OTA connection, and even a set for composite hookups!). Sound quality is not bad but honestly, a nice sound bar would be a nice compliment to more fully enjoy the quality of the picture. 4K looks very good, at times close to a 3D experience, although I have no material on hand to know how in may handle HDR and Dolby Vision content. One thing that surprised me is how well it automatically adjusted to your viewing content and have had no complaints with its choices. The Android OS is a little clunky but functional and that's OK. WiFi is generally solid but have experienced times where my phone or laptop have had trouble finding and connecting to the set. But my biggest gripe is the remote. This is the slowest responding remote I have ever experienced. It may take four to five seconds to "click" through from one channel to another and equally as long to input a channel. Tried another Hisense remote (same model) where the response was only slightly better. Not a deal-breaker but is disappointing. For the money this really is a very good set it terms of picture quality. Still a little rough around the edges with the OS and remote.
