Hisense is a brand name that I never noticed until I started shopping for Smart TVs about a year ago. From my research, it seems that the manufacturer has moved into the television market as a recognized brand because of its features and price--and its app compatibility. With their newest design, the H8G quantum Series 4K ULED Android TV with HDR, I think that Hisense will now be know as a TV manufacturer that not only provides a product that encourages the use of a tremendous amount of apps with the TV, but also for manufacturing a TV that delivers a true interactive experience. With the H8G Quantum Series, Hisense delivers entertainment through a screen resolution (55” model) of 3840 x 2160. With the use of Dolby technologies for picture and sound, this TV not only has a vibrant picture quality but also an awesome audio sound. There are a lot of Pros for this TV and for starters - it’s pretty! I particularly like the bezel-less frame, but the dynamic colors that are provided through the Quantum Dots gives one an infinite array of colors and a beautiful picture. This television is a full array LED backlight LCD TV that combines Dolby Vision HDR and Dolby Atmos audio technologies. With this series, Hisense has given detail to color brilliance and concentrated on HDR content by providing Nits performance of up to 700. They have also emphasized motion technology in this design by diminishing lag time in movement. This delivers a true experience in action entertainment-- and in particular sports. I do not visibly notice any lag in my favorite sports of horse racing and basketball and I often have the radio going too. Although I haven’t used the gaming features yet, I know this will also improve the lag from my controller commands to the game and be a noticeable improvement over my former TV. Hisense has also emphasized another technology in this model series and that is that of artificial intelligence. This TV will automatically recognize scenes and continuously adjust the picture and sound based on the content of whatever you are watching at the time. It seems to know, and it is very noticeable, when to ‘boost’ the video and sound to add even more to an in-home cinematic experience. I have been wanting to “cut the cord” for decades and with this TV, I have done so. I only really watched 3-4 channels out of the whole cable or satellite packages that I subscribed to in the past anyway. With this TV, I can stream from more than 4000+ streaming channels and choose from more than 500,000 shows, movies, etc. I have Netflix, YouTube, Hulu, and so much more to choose from that are all built right into the TV, and I can add apps too. Mentioning this brings me to one of the very best features of this TV and that is that Google Assistant is also built right into the television. Through Google Assistant I can access different channels, get answers and even control google/android devices around my home – all with just my voice. The remote also has a voice control button that allows me to search for apps, control the television’s channel inputs, volume, etc. with my voice. The television has wireless connectivity built into the TV. It also provides the following connections: 4 HDMI ports, 2 USBs, 1 L/R audio input for composite, 1 RCA composite video input, 1 Ethernet (LAN), 1 Digital Audio Out. With its Bluetooth capabilities, headphones, external speakers, etc. all paired and connected easily. The TV can be wall mounted or sit on its base. With Hisense’s use of Dolby audio and my sound bar and Bluetooth speaker, I totally have the cinematic experience in my home. This is a great TV for those wanting to ‘cut the cord’ but don’t think that they are quite ready or know which direction to go in when they do. It’s all built into this unit- it encourages you to move on into something much more enjoyable and exciting. Cutting the cord is simple because you immediately add your channels and so much more back with an android TV built on app technology. It also works with Amazon Alexa. I highly recommend that you take a serious look at this model of Hisense TVs when you are out shopping for a new television. It offers an awful lot for a great price!

I used to own a car referred to as a sleeper. Outwardly, it was nothing to get excited about, but under the hood, it had twin 4 barrel carburetors , an engine that was bored and stroked, and the acceleration was explosive. This Hisense TV is a sleeper! It is beautiful to look at with barely discernible bezel surrounding a jet black screen. The TV appears to be all screen. Ah, forget outward beauty, this SMART TV is brilliant. Yes it was packaged well so that unpacking was extremely fast and easy, but setting it up was where it's engineering brilliance really shined. I plugged it in, did not connect my Xfinity cable, just used the remote to turn it on. It promptly recognized my wi-fi network, and led me through activation instructions that were eezee pezzee. I was able to watch AMC, CBS all Access, ABC sports, Fox sports Go, and many many FREE Movie venues such as Prime Video, YouTube movies Tubi, Sony Crackle, Google Play, XUMO,& Discovery, History, A&E, AMC. Of course subscription channels opened instantly (Showtime, HBO, etc.). The brilliance extended to magnificent linkage with my Google Nest products, I have a Google Assistant next to the TV, and they instantly recognize each other and work together. I love controlling my lights, security system, home door lock (no keys), Nest video door bell, home hub max, etc with google, and this TV was a perfect addition working in minutes hand in hand with google assistant. I speak my commands, and the TV immediately goes to the channel, movie, or show. It is beyond SMART TV. Of cause all the brilliance would be for nought if the picture quality were just so so. Yep, the picture quality is superb. This TV was made for 4K broadcasts and true HDR, that is another area the TV shines. But even standard definition is enhanced and looks beautiful. What else? The remote control is simple to use, and goes beyond other remotes with HOT keys. One touch and you are at NETFLIX, Google Play, YouTube, VUDU, Google Assistant. The remote has an excellent built-in microphone for voice control. I also own an iPhone, and I was easily able to communicate and talk with the TV via google assistant and home on my iPhone. I could go on and on about the absolutely incredible lineup of features, but the bottomline is value. I believe Hisense's newest series 8 and 9 are the best value currently available in 4K HDR Smart TVs.

Unboxing this TV was a breeze compared to the last time I bought a TV over 50 inches. This one is light ( about 34 lbs ). Everything was easily identified, good documentation, remote with batteries and power cable. One of the things I really like was the way the feet mount. There are actually two options on each side, an inner and an outer option. I started with the suggested outer ( because this is a 55, not a 50). I had an issue with the width as the top of my tv stand has a swivel section that the TV actually sits on. It was just a bit to long on the outer option. I moved to the inner option and it worked perfectly and still is very stable. I am a Dish Network guy so that is my primary provider. Awesome amount of inputs on this TV, there are 4 HDMI inputs, Composite, antenna input, 2 USB’s, Lan Port, Digital Audio, and headphone jack. Setup was easy as it walked me though the Android TV setup. I paired it with my Gmail account. I then procced to the Home screen ( there is a button on the remote for it). It’s really nice because you can customize that home screen. Apps are added from the App store and some are already included. I setup my Netflix, Hulu, YouTube, Spotify and Prime Video. I think downloaded a few others like Pandora and a few others. Once downloaded, you can then customize that home screen. For example, now when I scroll through my home screen, Spotify for example shows the visual for my playlists and recently played, very cool. The setup for the picture and sound for this TV is highly customizable. To start, I selected Automatic Light Sensor for the Backlight. The room I have this in gets much sunlight during the day so it’s easier to use the automatic setting. There are seven picture modes to choose from (Vivid, Standard, Energy Saving, Game, Sports, Theater Day and Theater Night). I tested each and prefer Energy Saving as I keep this TV on most of the day. I do like the Theater modes if we are watching any movies. As expected, Theater modes soften the tone with more of a “creamy” white vs. the more vivid whites of the other modes. There are so many advanced picture settings I cannot cover them all here. You can set the different Motion Enhancement options and even custom set the judder and blur! I did notice that if I turned on Motion Clearness, it took the brightness down significantly. Noise Reduction is settable but HDR is set to Auto. It was greyed out so I don’t know if I set something that caused it to change to auto or not. There are also several customizable Calibration settings that can be manipulated but I have not had time to dig deeper into those but wow, there are lots of options. The nice thing is, you can play, configure and customize to your hearts content and then the last option on the Picture selection is “Reset”! This is great because you can just go back to the factory picture settings and start over if needed. As for Sound, there are six sound modes (Standard, Theater, Sports, Music, Speech, Late Night). I actually liked Theater because it seemed to have more sound depth that better fit my all-around variety of usage. You will notice differences when you select all. Since there is not any live sports on right now, I really didn’t get to test that for this review. This TV does have the Dolby Atmos that you can turn on/off. It really does add a noticeable surround sound feel which is nice. Advanced settings allow you to change balance, enable Auto volume Control, and customize the Digital Audio Delay and Lip Sync as well as change the equalizer settings. Again, you can change many things and on the main Sound menu there is that “Reset” option to allow you to return to the factory options. This has Chromecast built in, I was able to quickly cast from my Samsung S20+ to the TV flawlessly, very nice feature. The voice remote is nice, Google pops up feedback to help you better say your request. I did notice that Google couldn’t search my Prime Video content. I am not sure if that is by design or not. Overall, I love this TV. I think over time I will even love it more. In my short time, I have only watched a couple movies and they look and sound great. I haven’t connected up my DVD player to it yet so I can’t wait to do that. I highly recommend this Hisense. I have several top brand TV’s in my house and I can honestly say, this has all their features and more.

Cosmetically this television looks great. It does not look cheaply made at all. It is very light, sleek, and thin. The setup and stand of the television is very easy. One flaw that I found is that the box does not open ( or is not meant to open) from the bottom of the box which makes it harder to remove the tv and makes it more prone to unintentional avoidable damage (like pinching the screen). A positive of this tv is that you are able to somewhat adjust the position of the stand so it can more easily fit the tv stand you are putting it on. If you are looking to mount this tv it is very lightweight. The picture quality straight on is wonderful. The black levels and contrast of the tv are great. There is very low blooming in the black bars. Overall the motion is good. The sound quality of this is fantastic. This is not a tv where you have to blast the volume to be able to hear it and it does not have distortion at normal listening levels. The remote is very basic design wise. However, the remote includes useful smart app shortcut buttons to commonly used smart apps. Color accuracy could use some work straight out of the box. It needed some calibration out of the box (like any other tv does). The tv performs pretty well in both a dark and a bright room. The range of smart features and apps are definitely an upgrade from those supported in previous years. All apps and streaming platforms that I have used have not had any glitches. I have viewed some 4K and non 4K content on this from movies on disc to 4K content supported through Netflix. The picture was vibrant and nature scenes really popped. A negative of this tv is that with side view angle viewing the tv loses a noticeable amount of quality in color. But overall, this tv is a great buy for the price and I would highly recommend it to anyone looking to get into 4K on a budget.

Bought this H8G 55inch in January 2021. Well I must say Im very impressed with this Hisense tv. Though its not without its flaws its been pretty solid so far. The PQ is definitely better than any other TV brand in this price range. The Blacks are very dark for an LCD /LED good colors and great brightness in SDR. In HDR is blacks definitely more lifted and some blooming and the contrast whites is a bit washed out at times . Response time is Ok . But could be better . Android operating system is pretty slow and kinda buggy. There needs to be and exit button so you can actually close out the apps . Often the apps freeze upon re entering them later and requires numerous additional menu steps to actually close them out. Definitely recommend a Roku . Huge difference. Sound is ok , plenty loud but dull. There has been a few incidents where it just decided to power itself off while right in the middle of gaming of course. But i can only recall maybe 5 times but I do still kinda question the reliability overall. I do have another 9 months left on my Geek Squad protection so well see. This tv has Been replacedby the U7G and honestly its over rated. While it does have 120hz panel the blacks are definitely not better than this tv in fact IMO slightly worse. The new U6G is actually very close in PQ maybe even a tad better. So if your going Hisense U8G is the way to go . But honestly Vizio MQ7 and PQ9 are seriously competitive and probably more reliable. I think their blacks are much deeper than all these Hisense tvs except the U8G. I probably would have went 5 stars because its definitely a great tv . Just not sure its that reliable and at $900 for a U7G now? I would probably look at a U8G , Sony x85k and X90j. Even Vizio PQ9. They just seem like they are better PQ overall. Hisense just tries to add too much Brightness and its not that realistic and They do have a history of Dirty screen effect. Which is a downer.

This TV is perfect for my family room. The screen is bright, with vivid color that pops. If you wall mount, I recommend a tilt mount to cut down on glare, there was more than I expected but easy to fix with a little adjustment. The sound is good when using the built-in speakers. They are not a good substitute for a soundbar but are fine for a smaller room. I ultimately ended up getting a soundbar and setting it up to be controlled by the TV remote was very easy. The TV itself is beautiful and fits well with any decor. This is the first TV I have had utilizing the Android TV platform, but for anyone with an Android phone or tablet, it is very intuitive to set up. You complete part of the setup on your phone, and information is transferred to the TV, such as your Wi-Fi information and google account, saving a lot of steps during setup. I was able to stream movies from my Google Play library with no further setup. There are also options to download streaming apps, including Disney+, Netflix, VUDU, Prime Video, and many more. This TV is perfect for cord cutters, tons of streaming options. You can use the google assistant from the remote, and the voice features work well. There is a lot to explore on this TV, it's feature-packed and with great performance.

I've got to say it...Wow. I'm so happy with this tv. It is definitely a step up from my last tv. The Android OS is so easy to use and is quick to setup. The picture quality is much better then I thought it would be. It plays HDR10 content well, but with Dolby Vision content, it isn't so great. It could use some tweaking, maybe a firmware update just for DV. It has tons of inputs and is so easy to connect to whatever source. Overall, it's a great tv at a great price.

    Saving Money With Hisense

Having never owned a Hisense tv before I was intrigued by all the good reviews that I was seeing on TechRadar and some other forums as well about this TV. I had never heard of Quantum Dot before but upon seeing it with my own eyes I can now understand all the hype. The last TV that I purchased was in 2010, yes a long time ago, and it was a paltry 42" and just standard HDMI. Once I had received the Hisense TV I was not only blown away by the sleekness of the product but also the amazing picture quality. There is basically no bezel around the television which makes for a extremely truly 54.6 inches of viewing area. I had gained around 13 inches from my previous TV. While the size is impressive in itself the picture quality is amazing as well. First the 4k picture looks like it comes straight from an artists gallery. My wife's jaw was basically on the floor when she saw the quality of the picture. We tried viewing some 4k nature videos that we had purchased before we had this TV and were blown away by the colors and contrast of the TV. Making life even simpler for us was the fact that this is an Android TV. Our last TV had a Roku hooked up to it, as well as a Chromecast as well. We ditched those since there is now no need for them. Connected our TV to Android only took a few seconds and we were well on our way. So far I am truly blown away by a tv that costs a fraction of the big name brands. My parents just purchased a TV a few months ago and they were impressed when they noticed our new TV and what a great quality product we have. Pros: Screen is true to size Intuitive Interface Sharp picture Quality Ease of setup My wife is extremely happy Android TV is awesome Google Assistant makes life easier Cons: Remote isn't that exciting but that is subjective. Will keep you updated as I explore more about the TV. Buy with confidence as I am a convert to Hisense now.

For $500-$600 there is not a better TV you can get for the money. While there is some marketing gimmicks for the most part the product delivers past my expectations. First the picture is stunning. It's vibrant thanks to the quantum dots, it has actual HDR level brightness and local dimming zones so HDR content doesn't wash out in overly dark scenes, and the pixel response times are adequate for some light gaming. The design is par for the course. Slim bezels, and a nice overall appearance. The choice of leg positions was a nice touch as well. Android TV was a welcome surprise. I wasn't expecting a whole lot, but the speed and stability blew me out of the water. There are some big name apps missing like TLCgo, but anything that's missing you can just cast to the TV via Chromecast. Having the Google Assistant is a wonderful touch as well. The sound was another pleasant surprise. It's not sound bar quality, but better than many $1000-$1500 TV's I've used in the past. Not tinny and a deep enough base. Now my only criticism of the tv is motion rate. It's advertised as a refresh rate so they'll say "120 motion rate" but this is only a 60 hz tv, not 120. They just insert an artificial frame in between each true frame to give the illusion of a smoother image. Its okay for sports, but I would highly recommend turning it off asap. With the exception of motion rate this TV has surprised me. Hisense was not really on my radar, but after having this TV I couldn't imagine recommending anything else in the $500-$1000 price point. Android TV is super snappy and feature packed, built in chromecast is a huge plus no other platform can claim, and you get access to more apps like HBO Max and Peacock that the two largest TV platforms don't have yet. Short version: buy it! #INSIDERSTORIES

I have to admit, I didn't have high expectations for this TV at first. I don't really know that much about this type of technology, or the company for that matter, but I was totally blow AWAY! Packaging was great, the corners of the TV protected in egg carton heavy cardbord. Feet were easy to attach, and tv is THIN an not heavy at all. I was skeptical about the features, as we have a smart TV already by a competing brand, and we still hook up Amazon to it, as we don't like how it operates. First, lets describe the sound quality. Not only did it operate nice and loud by barely toching the controls, the richness and quality of sound are suberb. You don't need an extra sound bar with this TV! The picture quality is OUTSTANDING! Vibrant, brigh colors, tv adjusts to the dimness of the room easily. The depth and perception of the picture is awesome, I was very surprised what great quality it is! I really like the buttons on the bottom of the control to get quickly between popular applications. There is a wide variety of APPS, though it seems a bit limited for things like ATT Uverse, that is the only complaint, you can't get as many apps as on Amazon. Other than that this TV really stands up to the more expensive brands, has a great sleek appearence, super sound, and a really sharp picture. I will keep Hinese on my radar in the future when looking for another tv!

The Hisense 55H8G 4k android TV is a great product. This TV is in my son's room. He uses it to play PS4, watch Netflix and Chromecast. It has a fantastic picture with many benefits. Built in Chromecast is a huge plus. We can cast our phones or tablets without any hiccups. And with Google Assistant built in, there's no need to use another HDMI port. Setup was extremely easy. The only issue we encountered was the feet of the tv. They are low profile and quite wide. But you can easily wall mount or add new feet using the mounting holes on the back. The remote is easy to hold while pressing buttons. This is our families first Hisense TV and we are quite impressed.

The H8G is a good looking tv. The design rivals most any top end tvs. the picture looks a little to saturated out the box so there’s some tweaking to do. HDR and Dolby vision look great out the box. the full array local dimming does a good job of keeping the black bars on letterbox movies nice and black. My tv did have panel uniformity issues that’s why I had to knock the score down. So I’ll be sending this one back and update when I get a replacement

And with the added benefits of Android TV, I was able to plug in a USB stick to play old emulated games with no lag! Honestly such a great TV for the price you pay, blacks are black, fast and responsive, and amazing contrast in HDR scenes. Now this isn't OLED levels, but it is amazing for an Sub 1000 Quantum dot display - and will satisfy most people.

I bought this TV mostly because of the Quantum Dot, ULED and Dolby Vision features. I had read that Hisense was basically a good value and had picture quality toward the upper end of the 4K TV spectrum, although not matching OLED. I was willing to spend the required funds to get something that I would really enjoy watching, since I am a discriminating viewer and often analyze the picture quality and look for pixels while I am watching. This TV does not disappoint! The black levels are great and it gets pretty bright when the scene calls for it. I got tired of the motion smoothing pretty quickly but that's not specific to this TV, so I switched it off and enjoy watching content in its original frame rate. Apparently its necessary to switch off motion smoothing for each source independently. But its nice that I could have it on for only say, one or two particular sources if I wanted to. A bonus feature is that the remote also controls FireTV Stick 4K button-functions from the get-go. The only thing I haven't found out how to do yet is to get to the FireTV home screen with one touch since the "home" button on the remote will take you to the TV's home screen and not the FireTV home screen. So what i do is just press the "back" button to get back to the FireTV home screen. It can be a little challenging to get out of Netflix this way but it is possible if you go to Netflix home and then select to "exit Netflix". I go to the trouble so that another family member can always keep possession of the actual FireTV remote and we don't have to pass it around. By the way if you use a FireTV Stick 4K you will have to change some output settings to really be taking full advantage of HDR, etc. It took me a little while to tweak it until it looked the best but basically all of the output settings are now on maximum of the Firestick I think such as resolution and bit depth. Before that even the FireTV menus looked subpar I would say. I can't comment on this TV's sound because I have never heard it, due to the fact that I have used external speakers from the very beginning. I haven't bothered to figure out much about using the TV's Android operating system since I'm almost always using the FireTV Stick 4K through its HDMI input, which is what I'm accustomed to. I'm planning to have our place wired for OTA TV so if and when that happens I'm hoping the TV's tuner interface is good but I haven't looked at it yet. Overall I'm very happy with my purchase and I don't find my self thinking much about how much better an OLED screen might be. I guess I usually think, "It doesn't get much better than this." At least for the time being.

I was skeptical of buying this brand of tv because I'm unfamiliar with it, but it turned out to be a good purchase. It was easy to set up, I didn't have to thumb through pages and pages of a manual to understand it. It has good sound and a picture quality better than what I expected. I really like having access to the streaming apps without using another device and it has a screen size that is perfect for our living room. I also liked that there are not cords that run all over the place, keeping things nice and organized. I would recommend others checking it out as a great entry product at a decent price.
