    Hi-Sense keeps getting better

I got this and it replaced an older Hi-Sense TV, a 55H9DPlus from about 6 years ago. It was a good 4K TV, but a lot has happened in 6 years. For less than the old TV the new 55” U6 Series delivers a whole lot more. The TV is lighter, has a smaller bezel and better picture to start. The U6 has a plastic shell and a small bezel making it lightweight at around 30 pounds without the stand. The stands clip into the bottom and adds little weight. The inputs are all on the back, rear or side facing. It has 4 HDMI (one with EARC), Ethernet, BT, Wi-Fi, USB, 3.5mm, and an Antenna connection. The TV and the remote have microphones for voice commands. The TV has a physical microphone off switch. The refresh his stated as 60Hz with a motion enhancement of 240Hz. So, 60Hz is all you will get for inputs. Is has Dolby Vision, HDR 10+, HDR 10, Hybrid Log-Gamma (HLG), and mini LED’s for display. It is smart enabled, and ready for Google, Alexa, and Apple interfaces. Unboxing and setting up was simple. Box opens up from the top, and remove the protection from the box. Lift it up and out. I have mine mounted. It uses a 400x200 VESA mount pattern. Hung the TV and ready to go. Plugged my soundbar into the EARC HDMI port, port 3. I turned off the physical microphone switch. The TV came on and walked me through the setup process. One of the best things about setup, is you don’t have to accept everything. You don’t have to turn on all the smart features if you don’t want too. A great set of options if you want to use other means for watching items. Whether you want Google from the TV, or anything else, you have the choice. You can always go back later and change you setup and what comes through the TV. The TV picked up my soundbar and the other items attached to it right away and configured itself. I did passthrough for getting Atmos, the TV speakers are okay, but the soundbar is better. Then we get to the picture. I did have the motion on so the Hz should be at 240Hz regardless of the source. The mini LED’s and the enhanced frames make for an incredible picture. Colors really pop, and the picture was smooth whether streaming, live TV, or from a blu-ray. The picture was consistent edge to edge and looked great all over. 4K content looked outstanding. You can set the picture type manually or have the TV figure it out for you. Once connected to the internet the TV will update and be ready to go. Wired or through LAN I had no problems connecting. The TV has a plethora of options to fine tune your setup. Sound options on the TV, or external, and adjusting the picture to suit the source and room environment. There is a game mode for low lag response and has Freesync/PC Sync. You can connect wireless BT devices as wanted too. It accepts a multitude of formats through USB or local devices. Google TV worked fine on the TV, and you can add apps for other streaming content as you like. Overall, this is a great TV for the price. The picture is outstanding, and it has a ton of options to fine tune what you want. It also gives out a lot of leeway in what you want to accept o the TV, some privacy options are a good change. All inputs may be at 60Hz, but the Motion Enhancement makes for a smooth vivid picture. Setup is easy as the TV communicates with everything via HDMI-CEC, BT, or internet. Being lightweight and having a thin bezel allow for easy mounting and positioning. Download the full manual to see everything it can do. This is a great mid-range TV.

This is indeed a good TV from Hisense. Hisense is an old name in TVs and Radios manufacturing. Their Google TV with Mini-LED 4K QLED 55" is known to have an amazing display with true colors. The Hisense offers a great and smart experience for watching movies, sport, news and even using the TV as a computer display. The original sound speakers are amazing with smart sound channels selection allowing a multi-dimensional sound effects. When watching movies (some of them) the sound would feel like coming from your right side or left side which gives a better experience. Display: The most important thing about a TV is indeed the display. The Hisense has a clear high definition 4K display. I found out that it would look better if you reduce the brightness. By default, the screen is set to the highest 100% brightness. With that, it won't look very good in any indoor light. In my experience, setting the screen brightness to 20% gives me the best view without having the brightener areas effects. I also selected the dynamic setting (Smart Scene) where the type of the display colors and refresh (Picture Quality) would change based on what is being played on the TV. The TV would let you know when there is a change in video mode. Which is really good. Light Sensor is also available on this Hisense. Most TVs are having this feature and it is working fine. It adapts the brightness of the TV with the environment light intensity so you don't have to do it manually when light changes. Hisense allows you to adjust the sensitivity of this light sensor shift. Game settings are also available. The Hisense is offering the PC Sync function and the forcing of higher refresh rate mode. By that, the TV would do just fine as a gaming display for your work and play times. All in the settings. Sound: Out of the box, the Hisense has a great sound capability with multiple levels and directions. I've noticed that the sound hardware is set to be on the upper power side. For anything lower than 15 - 10% volume, the sound would get a bit normalized and might not be at the expected quality. It also depends on what are you watching. Movies Vs. Game Vs. News ... The TV is capable of differentiate between them. In settings, you can select between the following Audio Outputs: TV Speakers/HDMI(ARC)/OPTICAL/Bluetooth/Wired headphones. Operating system: This Hisense TV is running a Google TV. With that, it is capable to provide you with a full smart TV experience as it is capable of including all your streaming sources in one place. It also promotes some free streaming services that are actually good. With that also, it would still provide the Google products and the Google voice search feature. Starting time is good. Actually VERY GOOD. It starts swiftly and ready to work immediately. From settings, you can also select the power mode you want the TV to work under. You can select the STANDBY for a faster turning on (waking up). You can also set a default time when the TV should turn off and another time when it should turn on. Good for scheduling times. Out of the box, the Hisense is also supporting Apple AirPlay which allows you to connect the Hisense to your iPad or other Apple devices for controlling and mirroring. Connectivity: This Hisense TV has 3 sides HDMI (full size) 4K @ 60Hz with one eARC HDMI (dedicated for external Audio). Another HDMI on the back side. 2 USB ports (rated 5V 0.5A MAX). Headphone jack connector. Antenna or Cable connector. Digital Audio Out and of course a LAN RJ-45 connector. I am using the LAN to connect to the internet. I’ve tried the WiFi and it works well but I still prefer the direct wire connection. It allows me to have a stable and full speed bandwidth to my TV. There is a reset button as well, if needed. Control: The Hisense can be turned on and controlled by directly operating the buttons in the middle lower part of the TV. Just in the area where the power indicator LED is. As this is also a smart TV, it is equipped with dual microphone sound capturing that can be disabled by a hard switch available in the manual control area. The remote control is amazing. While not being cramped with too many buttons and functions, it has a back-light that would come on once you move the remote. It allows you a good visibility when it is dark. The remote is sleek and long enough not to be easy to lose. You need to pair it with the TV the first time you set it up. Which is an easy process… Once paired, the remote will not relay a lot on the IR. It will not require a direct visibility with the IR sensor on the TV. IR control is still considered as low consumption power trigger. I believe Hisense is keeping it for that reason: To wake up the TV from sleep. Tips and Tricks: You can always install the smart TV app on your android phone (sorry Apple users) and it will allow you to have a control from your phone. It works well if you are on the same wifi. You can also cast from your Google Phone, Chrome or Tablet to the TV easily. Another tip: if you use a third party service provider, this TV can connect to Alexa and you can voice control it through your smart home mentioned earlier. In this case. It will allow you to add the TV to your smart routines and so on… Conclusion: Good video quality, superior audio and multiple functions in a smart Operating System. Remote control that is really innovative and well made. If you can combine all that with as good deal, you have a complete SMART TV that guarantee you a good and fun experience. You would buy it for your daily media streaming, work and meeting large display requirements, Gaming on a High Definition… This is not my first Hisense and won’t be the last. I never had issues with any of the acquired TVs.

    Outstanding Performance (after some calibration)

The Hisense U6N truly does shine with some reasonable calibration efforts. It needs some tweaking here and there, nothing substantial really. But once you get it right? WOW! To achieve a well rounded calibration is not really all that hard or even deeply involving. At least not in the case of the one I purchased which was one of the last ones produced of the 2024 models. I had to wait for awhile after it was ordered for delivery and pickup at Best Buy After calibration efforts I have used the U6N for more than 2 weeks with zero issues. Menus don't lag, the Google engine runs smooth and moving through options and apps is snappy. The remote feels nice in the hand and has a premium look and feel. Nice that it is also backlit. After some rather minor adjustments in the 'Color Tuner' menu to red, blue, yellow and skin tones(after making sure 'low blue light' and 'Automatic light sensor' were both disabled which can interfere with proper calibrating), I wrote the values I changed down and simply applied them to all image modes except Filmmaker Mode and all HDR modes(they all looked accurate and excellent as it was). I used color bars and a calibration disc to help with calibrating. Not a lot had to be changed. After calibration I noticed the integrated 'Hi-View Engine' had to do some work on it's own. And after a few days of letting it do it's thing (because it uses AI technology), everything I could throw at it looked fantastic except for maybe the noisiest low resolution content like old DVD's. Even then it actually cleaned some of that up very well without having the clean it up to the point of seeing any soap opera effect. Give Hi-View a chance, once it has things well in hand it works very well. The result is an oustanding picture with real "wow" factor, especially when it comes to HDR demo content. Watching some of that just blew my mind. I mean it sometimes looked breathtaking. And I really mean that. And often very close to OLED with deep inky blacks that stay nice and black, even with bright content along with black on the screen. Even agressive content like a star field at light speed when some stars look like streaks of light, the few stars that still looked like stars the blacks still remained very deep black. And when the screen finally faded to total black? With the lights off it looked like the TV wasn't even on. It goes completely black. Amazing for only 160 Local Dimming zones on the 55". The Hisense U6N is a solid winner and produces a truly stunning image. It seems almost criminal to have only paid $350 for such amazing technology. The sound is not that great but it isn't terrible either. I use a Yamaha reciever anyway. Mini LED is the next big thing, and I can see why they say that. After all, Sony's top flagship TV is mini LED and not OLED. I am certain the next generation of U6's are even more amazing! Good job Hisense! Woo Hoo!!

This is an excellent entry model Mini LED TV with fantastic contrast and brightness for a much lower price compared to the competition. It's been a joy to watch movies in HDR where bright highlights really stand out and where black levels are deep and stay that way even if there are nearby brighter images. I am so pleased with the TV that I am actually looking at replacing my Samsung 75 inch (2018 QLED model) with the 75 inch version of this U6N. I highly recommend this TV to anyone looking for a Mini LED TV as it really out performs it's price point.

    Nat-20 Emergency Purchase

Randomly, my girlfriend's TV died one evening. We're both big into video games but I'm the tech nerd of the house so I did the research. I had a few requirements. The first was great latency. I'm a competitive fighting game player and good performance for video games (VRR support, low latency, quality dimming, etc.) matters to me, but all she really cares about is that it looks good. Second, it needed to be less than $800 because we're not rich and it was an emergency solution. Third, it needed to have some bells and whistles. For me, that's multiple HDMI ports that support 4K/120 Hz, good audio out options for sound bars and Bluetooth, and smart features. For her, that's smart features and at least the option to pair her phone. Every single one of our needs were met by this TV. Again, I'm pretty knowledgeable when it comes to TV tech and I was somewhat suspicious of the brand, but I dug deep into reviews and comparisons. My under $800 search led me to this and one other TV but this got the edge for having Google Home integration. Image quality, features, gaming options, and integration to our other devices (including a wireless soundbar and subwoofer) are all there. If you're not paying $1200+ for a TV, this one is probably better than yours. My main display is a $2500 Samsung QLED from two years ago and this Hisense is better at everything except watching movies. I'm impressed enough that I'll likely get a Hisense 8K set in a few years based on this purchase. Lastly, for anyone planning to use it as a monitor or who cares about performance for games, this is truly the best option under $1,000. Game mode can get under 5.2ms of delay, which significantly better than the 10ms most people find acceptable on Reddit and Steam forums. That's better than most gaming-specific monitors. It supports 4K/120 so anyone on consoles will more than have their needs met. It also has ALLM and 1440p support, which makes connecting a PC via HDMI seamless. Oh and it's also the only HDMI CEC device I've ever seen that automatically lets the TV remote control a game console's dash. That's probably not super rare these days, but... My $2000 Samsung doesn't do that! The girlfriend also loves it. She quickly figured out how to cast her phone to it, so now, when it's not running games, she's watching reels and TikTok on it.

The Hisense 55U6 Series TV is a testament to the brand’s commitment to delivering high-quality technology at an accessible price point. This model, which I purchased from Best Buy in Jersey City, stands out in the crowded mid-range market with its impressive array of features and performance capabilities. Picture Quality: The 55U6 Series boasts a Mini-LED 4K UHD QLED display that brings content to life with vibrant colors and deep contrasts. The QLED Quantum Dot Color technology significantly broadens the color spectrum, allowing you to experience over a billion individual shades. Whether it’s the lush landscapes of nature documentaries or the intense action of a blockbuster movie, the picture quality never fails to impress. Smart Features: Equipped with Google TV, this smart TV offers a seamless interface to access a plethora of streaming services. The built-in Google Assistant and compatibility with Amazon Alexa provide convenient voice control, making it easier than ever to navigate through content. Additionally, the Hi-View Engine enhances the picture quality with AI-powered algorithms, ensuring that every scene is optimized for the best viewing experience. Gaming Performance: Gamers will appreciate the Game Mode Plus, which includes a Variable Refresh Rate and Auto Low Latency Mode. These features, along with AMD Freesync compatibility, ensure a smooth and responsive gaming experience without any noticeable lag. Sound Quality: The integration of Dolby Vision and Atmos creates an immersive audio-visual experience. The multidimensional sound field envelops you, placing you right in the middle of the on-screen action. Design and Build: The sleek design of the 55U6 Series fits well into any modern living space. The build quality is solid, and the TV feels sturdy on its stand. The remote control is intuitive and includes a dedicated button for the Google Assistant. Value for Money: Hisense has done an excellent job of packing premium features into a budget-friendly TV. The 55U6 Series is a great choice for anyone looking to upgrade their home entertainment system without breaking the bank. Final Thoughts: The Hisense 55U6 Series TV from Best Buy is a remarkable piece of technology that offers a lot for its price. It’s a perfect fit for movie lovers, casual gamers, and anyone who appreciates a rich and colorful display. While there are more premium options available, for those on a budget, the 55U6 Series is a no-brainer. This review reflects my personal experience with the Hisense 55U6 TV. Your experience may vary depending upon individual factors you might be looking for.

I was looking at a Roku TV or an LG when the salesman showed me the Hisense TV. I quickly checked the TV out on rtings.com. This TV outscored both the LG and Roku I was looking at, but was similarly priced. Since getting the TV home I have been very satisfied with the purchase. The U7 scored higher but was almost double the price. This TV fit perfectly with my budget and I feel it was the best bang for the money I was willing to spend. However, if you prioritize a high refresh rate you may want to take a step up the U7.

After a couple of weeks, this TV still seems like pretty good value for the price. The picture quality is great and it was easy to set up. This was my first time using the Google TV operating system, and I'm still getting used to it. We might add an Apple TV and use that. The sound quality isn't great, but we added a sound bar and now it is not an issue. The only issue I have had is getting the TV added to Apple HomeKit. It worked for a while but then stopped. I think it might be a power issue that I will need to troubleshoot. I'm not sure it is specific to this model of TV though.
