Built in sound is amazing as well as picture. I use this in a medium sized room. Videogames look great as well.

It takes a little bit of tuning but it really shines after you do so. Playing my xbox series x on it and games are popping like never before! Stunning.

Mini-LED is a game changer for HDR
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Bottom Line: The Hisense U8H delivers fantastic picture, good sound, and all the latest features and specifications at a competitive price. Review: First and foremost, I am highly satisfied with the picture quality and HDR performance of this unit. Colors are rich and vibrant thanks to the combination of the 4K ULED and Quantum Dot display. The real standout for me, however, is HDR performance from the mini-LED array. Since the LEDs are smaller than on a traditional backlit panel with local dimming, I haven’t noticed any blooming into the black areas of letter boxed content, which can be a problem on other sets. To the contrary, even the minor bloom around white letters on a black screen are unnoticeable unless you’re standing very close to the set. The unit also supports all of the HDR standards, and watching movies in Dolby Vision is really great. Sound quality is better than I expected for integrated speakers, particularly on bass output, while maintaining the clarity of speech / dialogue which can occasionally get drowned out on other sets. The set also is certified for Dolby Atmos, although some may still want to consider upgrading with a sound bar. The Google TV interface works well and is fast and fluid. The system also applied a software update quite quickly, which I appreciated. The remote is pretty basic / standard, but I was able to control my AppleTV 4K and PS5 without any additional configuration or issues. The only very small issue I had was configuring the set to work correctly with my PS5. The set supports all the modern gaming features (4K HDR, 120Hz variable refresh rate, automatic low-latency mode), but in order for the PS5 to correctly recognize that the TV is capable of these features, “Enhanced HDR” mode must be toggled on. There are a number of menus and options available on the TV, and so finding this switch was a bit of a challenge even with the help of the internet. Once configured, though, PS5 4K HDR gaming looks great especially in games that take advantage of combining bright and dark areas of the screen (e.g., Resident Evil, Doom, Demon’s Souls).

Sorry Hisense you had one chance...

Over time I noticed blooming happening. It became more pronounced over time. This is not a quality tv. This is disposable. 26 months of moderate use i will be putting this tv in the dumoster as it now powers off randomly every 10 to 15 minutes. I thought i would give Hisense a chance. Lesson learned.

Not So Great TV

Poor hardware and customer service

A bunch of other software glitches as well. Rubber pad missing on one of the feet and MFG refused to help. Spend a bit more and go with Sony, LG or Samsing. I moved it to the Bedroom and went with Samsung S95B for the living room

Hisense 55U8H

The 55U8H exceeded my criteria for the desired specifications. This is the first Hisense product I have ever purchased. You only get one chance to make a first impression and unfortunately it was not a good one. I returned the TV to Best Buy for several reasons. The first issue was with the built-in 20W subwoofer located on the back of the TV. With the volume at only 20-25, it started making a hissing sound and would vibrate the entire unit when I watched programming with deep bass. I gently pressed on the cover around the subwoofer and the hissing and vibration would stop. The second issue occurred when switching HDMI inputs and channels. Each time the screen would turn black for a few seconds and make a small popping sound. The third issue was with the Google platform. We all know operating systems and streaming apps will experience a bug or glitch at some point. However, multiple times the screen would freeze when I tried to stream content from one of the pre-installed apps. I had to perform a soft reboot each time to resume normal functions. The fourth and final issue was the extremely poor upscaling feature. Lower resolution content in 480p, 720p and 1080i from a source such as a cable box or a DVD looks absolutely terrible. However, higher resolutions in 1080p and 2160p from any source are displayed exceptionally well. Also worth mentioning, this TV displays a peak brightness of approximately 1500 nits. The brightness is excessive and will cause pixel distortion in whites and extremely light colors. I had to switch between picture modes and change many settings to achieve the best image. In closing, I truly wanted this TV to be the best mid-range unit on the market for quality and value. Sadly it was not. The attractive price point of $650 was too good to be true. The ancient idiom “you get what you pay for” definitely applies to my experience.

And no the Tv was not moved so the panel did not get damaged (at least in that way) but that is what Hisense customer support said happened. Be very wary of this brand and it’s non customer support. I do say the picture and sound quality was excellent up to that point though

It is no longer a smart TV. This is quite disappointing and I will not be buying another Hisense television.
