This TV has great black levels and high contrast. Its perfect for living rooms with windows. For the price you really cant beat the peformance. Keep in mind the processor doesnt come close to a high end tv and off center viewing isnt great as you lose a lot of that contrast and brightness.

So far, so good. Had it over a year since Mar 2023. Has built-in sub-woofer so you get decent sound without having to buy a separate sound bar. it has had a few firmware updates that cannot be skipped (unless you keep it disconnected from internet), But they take only 3-4 minutes max. With antenna gets more ota channels than my old Samsung, and marks the 4k channels with "New generation" (tho most new-gens don't actually broadcast a 4k signal yet. All Apple devices screen cast without problems. But I don't think it supports Miracast from Android devices. I'll update after I use it more.

I love it. The images, the colors, the refresh rate and the sound are great, it is what you expect from a more expensive tv but on the right price. Some configurations may cause a not so good performance but it depends on what you are looking for, You can't go wrong with this tv.

Good TV in terms of display. Even with new batteries, the remote must be within about 5 feet of the TV to work. Also, the remote is not laid out in a logical order and you need light to use it without hitting the wrong buttons

This television is outstanding, especially for the price. Very bright and sharp and I really like Google TV as well. I need to add that Best Buy did a great job handling a customer service issue as well, so I couldn't be more pleased with my purchase.

For the price, you can't find a better TV than the U8H. It's well over 1000 nits in certain windows, VRR ready, decent chip and it looks sharp! I own the Sony 850H and Samsung x95 and the experience on the Hisense is basically the same. We love this TV!

I am running this with my Apple TV with 2.1 HDMI cable, in 4K Dolby Vision. I am also using my Vizio 5.1 D.D. soundbar into the HDMI ARC and for me this setup is totally awesome. The sound straight from the TV without any sound bar is also loud and good quality sounding. I did a lot of research and shopping around for a TV to replace my beloved 2008 Panasonic plasma tv that had just finally croaked on me, so I may not be the best reviewer for a TV., but to me there were better T.V.'s out there but they all cost three times as much as this one and this one for the money and features that it has for me was the best money that I had spent lately. I would have but did not buy the 65" because this 55" one just barely fits on my TV stand and looks almost too big for my very small living room. Almost LOL. I would recommend and buy this again.

I recently purchased the new 55 inch U8H Mini LED Quantum ULED TV by Hisense. First, I was able to score a PS5 back in January. Which I happily have been using with my TCL 6 series TV (not the good one as of recent but the old good one that was 60 Hz) everyday since. I have a small computer monitor that does 1440p at 120 Hz, and am obsessed with the smoother motion. I would resort to using that with the PS5 because 1440p at 120 Hz looks better to me than 4K at 60 Hz. I had been eyeing the new TCL 6 series, but I am tired of Roku and last years Google TV model did not live up to the hype. So when I saw this Hisense model with all the right specs- 4k 120 Hz, Mini LED with Quantum dot layer, Google operating system, Dolby Vision and Atmos processing onboard, rear facing subwoofer, and on sale for the same price I decided to jump on it. Review follows- The picture on this TV is hands down better than anything I personally have seen. Yes OLED sets the bar, but only if you live in a cave. If you actually use your TV during the day or with lights on, I think this TV would be more your speed, and for the price who could argue. The depth of the the color and ease of which it is displayed even during the day with a bright room. I am not kidding when I say this thing is bright, Hisense claims 1500 nits, but reviews will show you its closer to 1800 sustained brightness, and even possibly over 2000 nits max with the right conditions. I personally hooked it to my gaming computer and calibrated HDR with Windows new app, and it maxed out at 2100 Nits!! holy crap!! The color too is much better than my old TCL, which liked to over saturate colors and was horribly inaccurate. Even watching old 4:3 ratio programs from the 60s and 70s. Black and White programs never looked this good, but how many people besides me play PS5 and watch B and W programs. Anyways, all that to say if these things can blow you away, wait till you try true 4K HDR. To say that it is incredibly life-like would be doing this TV an injustice. This TV makes things look better than life-like, more like the world I would like to see, incredibly vibrant, and darn close to accurate colors, no oversaturation yet again, incredibly vibrant. Now the motion processing might be where we see the reason for the constant cheaper price. With a true 120 Hz signal, like from PS5, it is jaw-dropping. But with TV programs (which is the actual reason to own a TV) or movies there is noticeable stutter in side to side motion, most noticeable in slow pans with the camera. The slower the side to side motion, the more drastic it is. At times it can make you motion sick. I have read reviews that said it has gotten better with an update (which mine installed out of the box), but I can't imagine it being any worse. If this is an issue for you , steer clear because I am pretty sure that it is an issue that can not be fixed. And yes I have tried all the the Motion Enhancement tech settings, they almost seem to make it worse the higher you set them. I have settled on Standard Motion Enhancement, Motion Clearness set to off (it causes noticeable flicker and dims picture considerably) Filmmaker auto detection set to on. This seems to be best, the side to side stutter is still very noticeable with everyday content. Strange with how good the motion processing is with PS5 games. Also the TV comes with the ability to install Geforce Now, which I did and signed up for their RTX 3080 tier. But then when I connected my library and went into settings, I saw that it was limited to 1080p at 60 Hz, What a huge let down. I tried on my computer and Geforce Now app gave me 1440p 120 Hz, or 4K 60 Hz HDR. So it's definitely a limitation of the TV itself. So you will need external device to get anything better than 1080p 60 Hz with cloud gaming apps. Oh and no Xbox app, another bummer. The sound is amazing for a TV depending on the source. Tv programs using the Theater setting with sub turned to +5 and lower EQ values cranked, yes there is a graphic EQ, although it only seems to affect the higher frequencies. There really isn't much bass to speak of no matter what anybody says, but the sound is very full for what it is. Where it shines is late night when you want to enjoy a movie without bothering your neighbors. It sounds better than any flat screen I have ever heard, but still cannot produce audible bass. It works great for video games, I actually can get a good sense of direction with just the TV speakers. I still use my soundbar with sub when I want to actually enjoy the sound. Long story to say I really wanted to give this a 5 star review, the picture alone is worth all 5, gaming at 4K 120 will knock your eyes out. That is 50% of the reason I bought it. But the other 50% of my time is watching streaming apps and regular TV programs and movies. Most are in 1080p or less. I know that the only main issue is the motion processing, but most tv programs consist of slow pans of the camera in one form or another. If you are sensitive to motion stutter like me, you will not like it. At best it's annoying, at worst motion-sickness inducing. I am torn because now I am stuck with it, and I do love the picture and next-gen gaming, I can only hope that with updates it will get better. I am neither recommending or warning against, just giving my experience, have a blessed day.

Replaced a 2016 LG tv with this and all I can say is that technology has come a long way in a short amount of time. Picture quality is amazing. Color saturation is great. This TV is bright with the mini-led back lighting. For $599 for the 55", it was a great deal! No regrets.

Sharp colors , brightness is definitely one I f the strongest features - it’s just insanely bright. Great for gaming PS5. My only concern is I don’t know if it’s bad for the eyes However the picture itself is very crisp . Best TV I’ve owned so far

I exhausted myself with researching hours a day for 2-3 weeks in search of a new television for our bonus room that would mainly be used for PS5 gaming, But also for movies and tv shows. I had a budget of around $1,200, so that put the LG C2 and a few other OLED models in contention, but I still decided to go with the U8H for a number of reasons: 1) My bonus room is very bright, and OLED models have high contrasts that are more difficult to compensate in bright rooms. I understand they look fantastic at night, but the blacks on this U8H look fantastic for a mini-led, and the brightness of the screen during the day is very helpful for a bright room. 2) Cost was a factor, but not the only factor. Again, I had a budget that would have allowed for an OLED, but if I could save $600 and still get an amazing viewing experience, I’ll do that any day. Some things to keep in mind: 1) Where OLED TVs seem to beat this set is in motion with movies. I have noticed some artifacting and blur with fast movement, and while I might have a setting that is not enabled to counter that, I’ve yet to find it. 2) Where I notice differences the most between a recognizable brand like LG or Sony is the settings and ease of picture controls. It’s not to say HiSense has a terrible settings menu, but LG and Sony have a much nicer and modern settings menu with better interaction for picture and gaming. All that being said, are those features in LG and Sony worth ~$500-$600 more? That’s for you to decide, but for me I didn’t see the justification, despite being able to afford an OLED. Again, I was buying for a bright room, and I really think that needs to be considered when looking for a new TV. OLED models in the $1,800+ range seem to do a good job compensating for bright rooms, but that was way out my budget. So, in conclusion, I think this is a fantastic flagship television for Hisense, and should be highly considered if the above criteria is similar to mine.
