I replaced a 2019 Vizio P-Series Quantum with the 65 inch Hisense H9F. The H9F doesn't have the brightness or the black levels of the Vizio, but it destroys it in everything else like it's on an entirely different playing field. Couldn't be happier with this "budget" set for what I use it for. I only stream HD and UHD content, and play video games on PS4. For me personally this is a great TV outside of some cons listed below. I would have no problem recommending it others if not being viewed in a dark room. Pros: - Amazing colors. Vizio had some impressive colors, but this set is even more amazing. - Very good motion. - Great overall picture quality. HDR & Dolby Vision content looks spectacular. - Low input lag for gaming - 65 inch TV for $899 - best picture in this class and higher - Very little Dirty Screen Effect and screen uniformity Cons: - The remote has to be pointed directly at the TV to work and there's a noticeable lag for menus to come up. - Black levels are a hit or miss at times. Some content would have inky black levels and other content will show up a bit washed up and greyish. Not horrible, but not great. - Blooming and clouding are a thing in dark scenes especially in HRD. This can be very distracting and annoying. You have to watch the TV pretty dim to eliminate most of the blooming and clouding to be minimal. I would not recommend this TV for dark room viewing. Not very noticeable, if at all in a bright room though. - Does not like older HDMI cables. My older cables worked for all devises on the Vizio, but this TV would not pick up signal with older cables so I had to update all cables to 4K 18 Gps and problem went away.

WARNING PART: Super fragile!!! I first ordered this TV via Amazon and the UPS guy did not team lift. It arrived on the porch one day - no signature required. :( Anyway, the screen was broken right where the lower portion of the styrofoam ends and I suspect is also the location he had used as the fulcrum to balance the tv between his arms w/ the tv tossed across his back. (I know because I was waiting at home for the delivery, expecting to have to sign for it, and then “ding-dong,” the tv is on my porch and the lone UPS guy was just about to hop back into his truck. That was disappointing (understatement). In fact, it then took a month to get a hold of this tv again. This time I purchased via BB, so I could check the tv before leaving the store and I could take care of it properly myself. REVIEW PART: +Picture is great (with a good input source). +Plenty of input source options. -Android tv menu is NOT as good as Roku! (Hence only the 4 stars) -Can not add Prime Video (Even though it can be found in the PlayStore, there is no download button for it). Must use external Roku or Firestick for Amazon Video. -Deleting apps once they are added seems to vary widely by app. Some of them you just go to the app again in the PlayStore, while some you can delete directly. —> Deleting TikiLive is still a mystery. It can delete updates to ‘rollback’ to the first version downloaded, but there nothing to get rid of it (that I have found yet). I have a pretty fast internet and WiFi and the tv’s downloads are pretty quick, but the tv’s menus are still a bit slower than I like. Once in an app, the menus (like Netflix) are normal speed again (but not lightning like I would hope). Basically, this tv is more than what you would expect in regards to image quality for the price, BUT there is still room for improvement in the rest. Audio is average. Blacks are pretty good, but colors do need some adjustment out of the box.

Hisense H9F is the best tv of 2019 for the price! I would compare it with Samsung Q6, Sony 850, or Visio P-Q which all cost more money. The android interface moves as quick as you can press the buttons. The color, and brightness are impressive. The sound system is very adequate. Viewing angles are unreal you can be seated on the side of the tv with almost no loss in brightness or clarity.

This is shocking. We know Samsung, Sony and LG. They have spent years and years building a reputation and premium name brand for themselves. Well Hisense has definitely moved themselves in the same conversation or even outclassed the aforementioned. If you put them side by side in a blind shootout I believe the Hisense would come out on top. I did tons of research and for the price this is easily top notch Quality rivaling a 4K TV that is twice it's price. The guys that work at BB have a quota they have to make and Mag is commission so they will want to sell you a TV that is a name brand. Do yourself a favor. Get the TV and the 5 year GSP and enjoy a what so many others have been enjoying for half the price. It's a solid deal. I'm a believer and I've been a die hard Samsung guy for years. But after seeing the quality of this full array set with Dolby Vision at this price point I truly cannot justify the higher price point other than name brand. I hope this helps. Enjoy.

People generally associate Hisense with budget TVs. Decent TVs at affordable prices. This year, they are trying to break free of that "budget" and "cheap" stereotype. They have forayed into super thin TVs, 8K TVs, laser TVs, and even OLED. However, in my opinion, ULED is what most people should be talking about. Most people are familiar with OLED. They might know it as the best and super expensive technology. It works by achieving blacks by actually turning off pixels, thus you get the darkest blacks and whitest whites. They are not without flaws. It is very expensive and there is the risk of "burn-in" where there is a permanent image retention. ULED instead works by using local dimming technology. Basically the TV panel is divided into zones which can be dimmed and brightened separately from the others. The H9F has 150 dimming zones. How is it in real life? Pretty freaking good. The blacks are very deep. The whites are very white. The colors are bright and vibrant. The TV reaches a 1000 nits of luminance. In other words, it gets REALLY bright. The color accuracy is also impressive as it has 98% of the DCI-P3 color space recommendations. Images really pop. The contrast ratio is amazing. The local dimming works well. Viewing angles are decent. There are some uniformity issues especially noticeable in the corners. However, this does not take away from the experience when viewing movies. The panel is 120 Hz. Unfortunately, HDMI can only support up to 60 Hz. Still, when viewing with the native apps, the motion handling is amazing. The response time is also great. If you are a gamer, input lag is just 18.7 ms. Smooth. All in all, the picture quality is amazing. The design is good. Nothing amazing or eye popping about it, but it looks thin and sleek with the nearly no bezels. It will look nice in any home. The build quality is decent. The chassis is mostly plastic with metal here and there. The stand is a single piece in the middle that does a good job supporting the TV. I prefer it to 2 different stands at opposite ends. In terms of inputs, it comes with 4 HDMI ports, 2 USB ports, a digital optical audio out, a 3.5 mm headphone jack (a luxury these days apparently), composite in, a tuner port, and an Ethernet jack. Pretty standard stuff. Sound quality. Disappointing sound. Little bass with no punch. Mids and trebles are low. Definitely will need a sound bar or speaker system. OS. So the TV operates on Android TV. If you have an Android device, it can interface with the device. The TV also uses Google Assistant so you can set it up with Google Home or other Google Assistant devices. This TV will integrate nicely into a smart home setting. You can use your Android device as a smart remote which is very convenient. The TV interface is very easy to use and organized. It has basic apps built in such as Netflix and Youtube. You can use the voice control in the included remote to activate Google Assistant in the TV. I will say though that while Android TV is a nice OS, it is a very processor heavy one. The one in the H9F can struggle and stutter sometimes which is noticeable with everyday use. I will say though that it is thankfully ad-free! More and more smart TV's are including ads that are not removable. This may change but it is nice while its there. Summary: Pros: Number 1 has to be the excellent picture quality Very affordable Android TV interface is easy to use and can integrate into smart home Google Assistant Ad-free No chance of burn-in Cons: Uniformity issues Sound quality not the best UI can stutter and be slow There is something called the law of diminishing marginal returns. It basically means that at some point, putting more in gives you less and less output. This TV sits right at that point. Is this TV the absolute best? Of course not, but you have to ask yourself if paying twice the amount is worth it to get very slight improvements in pictures quality. This TV is not just a good "budget" TV. It is a REALLY good TV.

Pound for pound the best TV, period. Is it better than OLED, no but OLED will cost you twice as much if not more. This tv replaces a six year old Panasonic Plasma that I enjoyed dearly. The H9f blows it away, big time. 4K content looks amazing but let’s get real, there isn’t a whole lot of 4K content out there. What I love about this tv is it’s ability to upscale 720p and 1080p content, fantastic. My games and Blu-Rays have never looked this good. It’s motion handling is far superior than Vizio P quantum. Out of the box the H9f looks good but you will have to tweak the settings to extract the best from this tv. I used the calibrated settings from rtings.com and quantum tv from YouTube as a starting point and found their settings to be way too bright and pushing reds. Easy fix, I decreased the saturation and brightness of the. I pulled the trigger on this tv sight unseen after doing plenty of research reading reviews, watching videos and checking out the tv’s at Best Buy and Costco. At 65 inch and a price of 899, this TV is one hell of a deal. The best part, I get to watch my Notre Dame football on this beast. Go Irish!

I wanted to love this TV so much, but software issues had me replace it a year later. The image quality is great for the price. I was amazed at the upgrade from my older Vizio. At first things seemed nice, but I quickly ran into software issues. The biggest was the lag throughout the entire system. At first it was just in the menus and content played fine, but after a few months and a couple software updates 4k and especially 4k HDR content began to have issues sometimes. Disney+ content would jutter and skip occasionally. Menus would freeze for multiple seconds at a time just navigating around. Restarting apps, uninstalling unnecessary aps, and factory resets and updates did nothing to help. The other thing was a weird compatibility issue with my Vizio soundbar connected through ARC. For some reason the TV outputs sound in such a way that the soundbar would not upconvert stereo content to surround while using anything but bitstream output, forcing us to mess with audio settings anytime we watched stereo content (often). It also had issues streaming music from the TV, playing a couple songs in surround then weirdly switching to stereo until you rebooted the TV. I've read anecdotes that this TV outputs stereo in a surround "container" that makes receivers think they are getting full 5.1 sound, disabling any upconverting. Not sure on the accuracy of that, but the same soundbar works flawlessly on my LG CX OLED. In the end I used this as our main TV for about a year until I got frustrated enough with the software quirks to switch to a refurbished LG OLED. Now this TV is used exclusively with an Xbox setup, meaning I never mess with the software side of the TV and it's working well. No switching audio settings and no laggy menus because I'm only ever using it with gaming content. For that it works fine and the image is great, but for $1,000 I expected a much better experience with all content.

I initially had problems trying to pair a Sonos Playbar via optical connection to the TV. Ended up using the Sonos Beam and going HDMI and finally got it to work. Lot of tech calls and more time that I wanted to spend doing it. Now everything works great and I think it is a great TV and at $899 a real good deal. To beat this set I would have to buy Sony 950 or Samsung 90 costing $1,599 to $1,999. I bought this TV sight unseen and could not see one in the store or find a sales person that knew much about it or was very interested in trying to sell me one.

I'm just your average consumer with advanced knowledge about all things tech. I researched this purchase extensively before committing and I am more than happy with my decision. You will not be disappointed with this TV. The colors pop and the quantum dot technology does exactly what you would expect. I have not calibrated the picture yet and frankly don't see a need to. This TV replaces a 65" LG I purchased on Black Friday here at BB that was just your average 4k UHD with HDR. The difference in colors and black levels is night and day.

Coming from a 9 year old 50 inch Samsung 3D plasma that cost almost twice as much the picture looks great. What I noticed most is the whites are whiter and the colors are more vibrant. The TV is very nice looking with no bezels really except for the bottom. Only thing I've watched in 4k so far are Vegas videos on YouTube. Almost like you're there. My budget was best 65-inch I could find for under $1,000. I waited for this one to come out after hearing about it during 2019 consumer electronics show. TCL is supposed to come out with a new one this year too. I like the higher-end Samsungs and Sony's, but didn't want to spend that much. Only thing I worry about is reliability.

The Hisense H9F is an incredible TV that offers amazing picture quality and value while sacrificing very little, however, there are some drawbacks I have found. Having owned the Samsung H8FN (which I would consider a strong competitor to this TV) I will be comparing the two in certain areas in my review. Starting off this is the first android based TV I have owned so getting used to the menus and how everything works took a little time. The setup was easy asking for Google account, Wifi password, etc all at startup which you may or may not choose to use. After getting everything set up the menus are a mix of traditional TV menus and an Android device. The H9F comes loaded with apps such as YouTube, Pandora, Netflix, Hulu, etc and others can be downloaded from the Google Play store. The internal storage on the TV is around 4gb however you can expand that via one of the external USB ports on the TV. The most notable app missing in the Amazon Prime video and this is a big drawback for me personally. When compared to the Samsung H8FN this H9F offers more versatility in terms of apps available but the major ones are still present on the Samsung including Prime video. After getting past the menus and playing some content via YouTube and through an external Bluray player I was honestly shocked at the quality the Hisense H9F was providing compared side by side with the Samsung. Playing the same video to both TV’s really showed that you don’t need to spend $2000+ on a Samsung QLED TV to get amazing picture quality. Now the Samsung is still a better TV however the differences were fairly minimal. Blacks look better on the Samsung and the processing engine was better which showed better clarity and sharpness but the H9F wasn’t far behind at all. Just remember the Hisense is over half the price of the original price of the 65” version of the Samsung so the value is incredible. Streaming content was fairly quick on the Hisense but the Samsung has a much better processor which allows for a smoother experience without a couple seconds delay here or there. Overall I am still shocked by the Hisense H9F’s picture quality. I would have never expected a $900 TV to put $2000 TV’s from Samsung to the test. Now everything is not great with the Hisense so here I am going to discuss the drawbacks I have found with my testing. 1. The TV did not come with any manuals. This isn’t a hug deal but when you encounter problems like some that follow it become a larger issue. 2. While trying to hook up a soundbar via Optical Output the Hisense H9F would not show Optical Output as an option at all! The TV speakers are pretty poor on the Hisense so I would recommend using a soundbar or some sort of external speakers. Now the audio would work with the optical cable but both the TV speakers and soundbar would play at the same time causing some loud but not so great sound to come out. The fact optical is not even listed in the menus is very concerning but hopefully this can be address via an update. 3. The processor of the TV is not adequate to produce responsive menus. The TV is fairly slow and clunky to navigate. Now this could be due to the Android UI or just the fact they needed to keep costs low and chose to use a slower processor but don’t expect this TV to be as quick as other flagship models. 4. Occasional connectivity problems with the Wi-Fi and other small “glitches” here and there that have been solved by reconnecting or backing out and restarting apps have been present but annoying. Pros: + Price! $899 for this TV is a great value. + Still contains Composite inputs so if you ever need to hook up an old piece of equipment it can be done. The Samsung Q8FN does not have these. + Design is very attractive with thin bezels and silver trim along the outside. Not many sets in this price point have a premium look per say. + DLNA Support + Android based which allows for seamless android phone integration and Google assistant features + Four HDMI inputs, Two USB inputs (One 3.0, One 2.0), 120 Hz refresh rate, etc. The list of premium features is nearly endless! Cons: - No manuals in box - Optical Out has not worked for my TV (Does not show up on sound menus either) - Processing speed for navigating menus, loading apps, etc can be slow - No Amazon Prime video app - TV speakers are not great - Volume control increments are too large. One change in volume (up/down) changes the volume too much. Overall the Hisense H9F has done what the consumer didn’t think was possible. That is combine a quality LCD panel with most if not all the features of flagship model TV’s at a price point the average person can afford. Now there are some sacrifices here and there but those are not deal breakers in my eyes. Anyone shopping for a high end 4K TV with lots of features and relatively small drawbacks should strongly consider the Hisense H9F for what it has to offer at an amazing value.

I am really happy with this TV. Motion for sports looks better than anything else in the price range. The TCL has a great picture but motion is not as good as on the H9F. This TV is comparable to TVs costing well over 1000 dollars. The only negative reviews were for no Amazon Prime (which is now included) and for ARC issues and they said the picture was great. All the reviews you see say the TV is great. And they are all right. If you are in the market and can spend 800..you should buy this TV or the TCL 6 series of sports and motion is not important.

Was looking for a lower end 65" TV for our cottage for < $900. I currently own 3 Samsung TV's, but Samsung lower end TV's are garbage. Read a lot of positive reviews on the Hisense H9F TV so decide to buy one. The H9F whites and blacks are incredible. The color is brilliant and 4K streaming is outrageous. The upscaling of 1080 is very good. If I could find a H9F in 55" I buy another. Finally, there are a couple of items I overlook because everything else is so outstanding for the $799 price I paid. 1. The remote is not very reponsive. 2. Upscaling of anything less than 1080 is so so but many $1000 plus TV's are no better.

Definitely not 4 stars. But easily could be if Hsense just figures it out and does something to positively impact product operation. Connecting to Bose system was PIA using HDMI ARC initially then all of a sudden, starts working after totally removing connection (completely) and then connecting like new. Aggravating time interpretation from broadcast channels, it randomly displays the wrong current time but still shows correct elapsed time??. Really great picture! Reasonable price!

The picture quality is amazing. The blacks, HDR, the ease of use with google android TV but...theres one flaw that makes this a pass. The processor chip is sooo slow. Just navigating through the menus is sluggish. After sometime, the tv will need to be restarted. Ive had to do this several times now. Youll know when to restart it because the menus get sluggish, sometimes youll load an app and be watching HBO but all of a sudden it closes the app. So you relaunch it and same thing will happen. It sadly makes it feel like youre owning an old device. Have you ever used an old samsung galaxy 6 or 7...youll know the feeling.

I’ve had this tv for 2 months now and overall it’s been a great purchase. Picture quality almost lives up to the hype- it’s ridiculously good for the price, but not quite the OLED killer that everyone says it is. It doesn’t reach OLED picture quality level, but it’s still a GREAT picture. Can’t hold a candle to my 3 plasmas, though, Only OLED compares to them when it comes to true realism in picture quality. Went through 3 H9F units before the dirty screen effect was tolerable and had other issues with the first 2 sets also (audio, CEC, etc). My third set has great picture quality and was perfect for the first month. Now I’m experiencing some CEC issues and some random shut offs and resets (frustrating!), but I’m out of return period. Time will tell as far as durability and build quality. If the quirks work themselves out or disappear, this tv is a steal at the price. Would definitely recommend over any TCL, the Vizio Quantum X (at any price) and any Samsung, Sony or LG (in this price range). If money is no object and you are ‘burn-in’ aware/savvy (have had zero issues with plasmas, but it’s REAL on OLED if you don’t pay attention to your tv use and viewing habits), then get an OLED...C9, E9, A8G, (A9.G overpriced)...even B9 is a good value.

This thing has a comparable picture to $3000 premium sets from Samsung, Sony and LG. Android TV is snappy and now includes Amazon Prime Video. It has a brushed metal frame, a glossy screen, and looks very premium in a high end media room. 4k upscaling and motion smoothing look fantastic. 120hz native panel (unlike Vizio's fake 120hz spec that just runs 60hz native) has absolutely perfect motion smoothing. Even the remote is nice with raised, rubberized buttons and 4 quick launch buttons for popular streaming apps. Upgraded from a top end, 3x more expensive Sony and I'm not at all disappointed. Highly recommend.

I looked at a lot of TV's before purchasing this. I decided to take a chance based on other reviews and I am glad I did. I have had it for about a month and the picture is Great!!! It was real easy to setup and has all the different apps to use, such as Netflix, Hulu, YouTube, Etc. One issue that I will mention since I have seen this in other reviews. I have my TV going through an Onkyo receiver. The ARC worked fine when I first setup the TV with the receiver, but then stopped. I did some research and the solution that worked for me was to unplug the TV from the wall for several hours ( I actually left it unplugged overnight) and then plug it back in. That fixed whatever issue there was and I haven't had the problem since. I would highly recommend this TV for anyone who doesn't want to break the bank when purchasing a new TV.

I would recommend this to a friend
