    Stunning Picture Quality

The first thing I noticed about this television was it's weight; it is rather light, which helped when I decided to mount the televiosion to the Lining Room wall. I was able to do that by myself. Also, the tv is easy to unpack and connect; I have a receiver, so all I had to do was connect the eARC and the power cord. The settings were easy to navigate. The drawback is that you had to spend a considerable amount of time with trial and error to determine the settings that produced the best picture. There was a very brief description on the menu but it wasn't the best way to achieve this. The QLED Quantum Dot color technology did shine when examining the contrast and brightness. The colors were rich and saturated. The picture turned out to be vibrant and amazing, especially with the dark / black, but it had to be in either 'Theater Day' or 'Theater Night' mode to achieve this. The viewing angle was fairly large even with direct sunlight. My friends and I were playing Forza using a gaming stearing wheel, with Game Mode Pro on. With all of the quick action, I did not see any screen door effect. The variable refresh rate made transition from scene to scene seamless and smooth. I did evaluate Google functionality; as expected, the numerous television functions worked extremely well, rarely having to repeat commands. I was also able to get some Alexa functionality by using a home theater hub. It is convenient that the television supports four HDR formats. There are several ways to connect your home theater to the tv, but a huge negative is not having a digital optical for audio. There are times when an artifact will show up as a temporarily 'sparkling' portion of the picture, but I could not pinpoint what it was associated with. All in all, this is a very solid tv with great blacks and vibrant emersive color.

If you haven't tried a Hisense, this tv will knock your socks off. Its a value tv, but its worth every penny and then some. My son uses this tv primarily for gaming on his PS5 playing Fortnite and MLB the Show. I've played the games to get a sense of this tv and its terrific. The colors are bright and sharp and the gameplay is flawless with the refresh rate keeping up with the gameplay. You'd think this tv cost twice as much as its price tag if you walked into the room without knowing the brand name. For watching TV, its our first experience with the Google interface but it has everything you need to stream. It took a little setup time while syncing with my Google account but once it was set up it has Fubo for our network tv watching and then of course it has Netflix, Prime, YouTube and Disney+ with shortcut keys on the remote to those 4 apps. With these apps the 4K is sharp, vibrant, and bright. Again, streaming on this tv you'd think it was a more expensive brand. The one thing the TV is lacking is the sound on the built in speakers. Its just average. However that can be easily fixed with a soundbar to unlock the Dolby Vision Atmos sound. The last features I wanted to mention were that it has two legs that make it sturdy and it comes with 4 HDMI ports. If you need a value TV for gaming, this TV is for you.

Hisense's QD7 is a good TV with a bright and colorful picture. Its one of the newest line of Quantum Dot LED-LCD from Hisense. Its a 4K UHD resolution with 48-144hz picture rate which is a premium quality when it comes to picture resolutions. The QD technology puts out some bright and vibrant colors that really shine when viewing movies/shows that have lots of colorful effects. I had to test out the 4K/144hz picture by connecting my PC and playing some games, I found it to be great at being a super high resolution gaming display. The UI is Google/Android so its gonna have all your favorite steaming apps available to download, and you'll be able to effortlessly cast your phone to the TV. It also has Apple Airplay connectivity so no problem if you're using an iPhone. As good of a picture this TV has its also got some glaring faults. The sound quality on this TV is subpar, I cycled through all the preset sound options and was hard pressed to find much of difference in quality, the issue is the built-in speakers are lacking bass, so it can get loud but not deep, you'd do better connecting a soundbar. Another thing I found which was kind of weird, is that the remote for the QD7 is also using the same IR frequency as my LG C3 and when I was using the remote for the QD7 in my bedroom it was making my C3 in my living room go crazy. Overall, its a good TV, a great picture being held down by mid sound, its would be a perfect display for any PC gamers wanting a bigger screen to play on without compromising on display rates, it would also be good for any regular person that wants to upgrade their old LED for a more bright and vibrant picture of QLED.

Let’s get it out of the way, Hisense is a value brand. However, the QD7 is punching above it’s weight class, especially if you want a high refresh rate for gaming and watching sports. Don’t get confused by QLED and think it’s the same as OLED. QLED is a variant of LCD technology and it is not the same technology as OLED. OLED reigns supreme when it comes to picture quality. This is not a knock on Hisense, but more of a clarification point since every TV brand has rolled out QLED. Now, the QD7 is a budget pick that will fill the living room with everything most families want. 4k, high refresh rate (you want this for sports), HDR 10, and Dolby Vision, and streaming apps are baked in. This SMART TV also includes AI which will automatically adjust settings on the screen depending on the ambient light in the room and what is being shown on the screen. Again, this is a “budget” smart TV but you can see why I saw it punches above it’s weight class. If you’re a gamer you will enjoy the high refresh rates for Call of Duty Warzone, driving games etc. The higher refresh rates also mean your TV shouldn’t be the reason your favorite sports team looks glitchy or hazy when there is a lot of motion happening. The HDMI ports ensure you can connect multiple consoles and other peripherals as needed. Hisense did well to provide a lot of value in the package they are offering and it is obvious why this TV will sell.

We “upgraded” from a 55” entry level 4k smart tv to this model from Hisense. Here are a few initial observations. The move from a 55” TV to a 65” TV is noticeable both in screen size and how it fits in the surrounding room. The delivery company did make mention to a hole poked in the exterior box wall and before I signed made sure we opened it up and validated nothing was impacted inside the box. High five to Hisense in packing it up so well. The hole in the outer box was on the screen side but due to the way it was packaged most of the intrusion was absorbed by the protective cardboard liner that sat against the screen. Crisis avoided! Be careful opening up the box, the bottom pulls out from the main top portion and the tv needs to be held up or it will just tip over, they packaged the feet in the very top Styrofoam so make sure to grab those before discarding the tv packaging. Swapping out the TV on our living room stand was a breeze because there is the standards for the mounting brackets. Once that was done it was a matter of hanging it on the stand and connecting all the cables. I do like the fact that over time manufacturers continue to add more inputs. Another initial observation was the outer frame, bezel seems to be narrower and the screen goes almost totally to the edge. This makes the bigger screen not seem so much bigger in our existing space. Obviously you shop for TV’s by their picture capabilities and this model is no joke. Hisense’s QLED Quantum Dot color technology is incredible. The entire family got immediately sucked into finding any UHD programming on Prime or Netflix to simply appreciate the vividness of the picture. I will also say the automatic brightness does make a difference and compared to the prior 4k TV, this one doesn’t even compare. There is so much content available in ultra high definition that you can go from sports to nature shows to blockbuster movies. The additional technology from Dolby for audio and video paired with their AI suite of features ensures regardless of what you are watching you are getting the best available picture quality. If you wanted to get custom with settings, like most TV’s you have all that manual capability. Additionally, when gaming there are additional game modes that improve the refresh rates to maximize your gaming experiences. Just like the screen upgrade, the TV speakers seem to be more robust both from a volume perspective and a quality perspective. When setting up all the options, there is an option to use the microphone on the remote that helps the TV customize to your space and will undergo an audio test to tweak settings automatically. This was a neat additional feature and feel it improved the overall audio quality when using the internal speakers. There also is hidden on the front center of the TV a microphone and I am thankful for a on/off switch. We don’t use that voice functionally so being able to turn it off is a nice security option. This was our first experience with Google TV and having to log into your google account and sync with their “Home” experience was slightly inconvenient if you don’t have anything else from google. If you do, their set up process would be fairly straight forward. We don’t so it seems like some of the Google TV functionality would be lost on our home. Again, each TV has options so you can find a similar spec’ed option with different software. Regardless, the menu and user experience of Google TV was similar enough to all the others that it didn’t require much of a learning curve. My only gripe is a peculiar one but wanted to share, we have an older Onkyo receiver that powers our surround sound speakers and because of the age has optical in and no HDMI connectivity. I had to do a decent bit of troubleshooting but had to resort to choosing in the main audio menu using the TV speakers or the optical out. This either or and not both was slightly annoying but is a quick remedy if we did want to use surround sound. I am glad they still include an optical out option. This size, specifications and design all come together in a reasonable priced higher end television. If you are looking for a top notch, feature rich television this one should not be overlooked.

I got this tv to replace the previous Hisense Google tv that died on me unexpectedly after several years of ownership. This one overcomes one of the main limitations of the previous model which was lack of storage capacity. I subscribe to A LOT of streaming services, and the old model did not have enough room to hold all of the streaming apps. I ended up having to use a separate streaming device, which kind of defeats the purpose of a smart tv. While this one does come with a lot of bloatware that can't be deleted, there was still plenty of room for all of my apps. One of them was not available when I first set up the tv, but it became available a few days later - one of the hazards of reviewing a brand new product, I guess. Set up was a breeze using my existing Google profile, which also ported most of my passwords and accounts over automatically. I was also able to reuse the wall mount from the previous model, though the mounting holes are in slightly different places, and I needed spacers for the top holes (which I thankfully saved even though they weren't needed before). The picture is awesome. The blacks are very deep, and the definition is amazingly sharp. The bezel around the top and sides is very thin, but the picture doesn't quite go edge to edge, so there is the visual effect of a larger bezel. But really, this is almost all screen. I did have some initial weird behavior with the tv turning itself back on in the middle of the night, which I attribute to background software updates, but that's only speculation. That seems to have stopped after a couple of days. There's also some weirdness with the USB backlight I added, where sometimes it turns off with the tv and sometimes it doesn't. That may also eventually work itself out with software updates controlling the power to the USB port in the back of the tv, but we'll see. Overall, this is a great tv, I'll just have to hope the bloatware doesn't constrain the storage too much as the size of streaming apps will probably only grow over time.

Received this Hisense 65” TV a week ago. Really Really nice! I have multiple 4K TVs of various brands and sizes in our house and this one so far is definitely top-tier. First, I was surprised how light it was for its size (lighter than some of my 55” TVs). I only have one other 4K TV that has Google TV built-in, and this one was noticeably faster within the apps and menus. As for the display and screen performance, I am quite pleased. Really, out of the box I thought it was pretty well set for the lighting in my room and space. After the app downloads to test out, YouTube TV looked perfect and fluid on all channels. Netflix and HBO Max as well. And my son’s PS5 was perfect too. Plenty of hookups for game systems or other streaming devices and Blu-Ray. If any criticism, I don’t love the remote, but not terrible and I hope to get used to it better over time. Even if this TV cost a little more, I think it’s well worth it!

Major issues if you use broadcast TV with this set

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

This TV works well for streaming, but it has major issues if you use it for broadcast TV which is one of our major sources for programming. First, the channel guide for broadcast TV has serious flaws and what appears to be a software bug. When displaying the guide, it only pulls programming for some channels and not others. Programming for some channels will simply read "no programming", but if you tune into the channel it then and only then pulls the programming into the guide. It is a maddening problem. Secondly, the TV does not keep the time updated for the broadcast programming when it is turned off. So when you turn it on, for the first 30 seconds or so it will display the time when it was last turned on, and tuning into a channel will then only allow you to set a reminder instead of tuning into the channel, since it still thinks it is the old time. Once again, a maddening flaw. Thirdly, the remote does not allow the ability to directly enter a channel number. So if I am viewing channel 4 and want to go to channel 21 I can only get there by scrolling through a bunch of channels in between. So the first two issues here clearly appear to be issues with software. Resetting the TV and rescanning the channels does not fix this issue. To add insult to injury getting help is very difficult. Hisense's support number constantly loops you through AI instead of allowing you to contact a representative. When I did finally get a representative at first she tried to walk me through things like adjust your antenna which is obviously not going to help. Then she just said there was nothing she could do. Only after I insisted did she agree to put in a report of the software issue. I have little hope anything will come of it. In the meantime, I would avoid this TV if you use broadcast channels
