Bought the 65" Hisense U8N about six months ago and have been blown away. This TV punches way above its price class!
Picture Quality
The brightness is unreal—HDR content absolutely pops, even during the day in my bright living room. Blacks are deep and contrast is excellent, thanks to the mini-LED and local dimming. Colors look rich and vibrant right out of the box (though tweaking settings a bit really makes it shine).
Gaming
As a gamer, I love the 144Hz support, low input lag, and smooth VRR performance. It handles 4K/120Hz like a champ on my PS5 and Xbox. Super responsive and buttery smooth gameplay.
Sound
The built-in speakers are better than I expected. There's a bit of depth to the sound and even some bass, but I’d still recommend a soundbar if you want that full theater experience.
Smart Features & Design
Runs on Google TV which is fast and easy to navigate. Voice controls work great, and the remote is solid—love that it’s backlit. The TV itself looks sleek with thin bezels and a sturdy stand.
Minor Drawbacks
Picture fades a bit when viewed off-center (typical for VA panels).
Fast action scenes needed some motion setting tweaks to get right.
Only 2 HDMI 2.1 ports, which might be limiting if you’ve got a few high-end devices.
Final Thoughts
For the price, this TV is hard to beat. Bright enough for any room, packed with features for gamers, and looks just plain gorgeous. It’s not OLED, but it gets surprisingly close for way less money.
Highly recommend the U8N for anyone who wants top-tier performance without breaking the bank.

The dirty screen effect was extremely noticeable on anything with solid colors (football/tennis/golf/etc.). We exchanged our first one for another of the same and the second had the same exact issue. Best Buy customer service has been great, but won’t buy another Hisense.

Tough decision choosing between an OLED or QLED but decided to pocket some money and go with the Hisense U8N and it didn’t disappoint. For a non OLED it is probably the best you can get. The brightness is crazy and the picture quality is extremely crisp. Also surprisingly the tv has extremely deep blacks and gaming on this tv is amazing due to the high refresh rate. Overall I give this tv a strong 9/10

I’ll start off by saying that we have had this tv for only five days now and it has been nothing short of brilliant. I judge tvs pretty hard. Proof is that we first purchased a Samsung S90 OLED. It was a pretty good tv but we thought it was too dim for our room with it being an OLED TV. Seemed to be pretty stable but we returned it because spending $1500 we wanted to ensure we had the right tv for the long run. We exchanged it for an LG QNED90 Mini LED. This tv had pretty good picture but it froze once and we hated the WebOS interface. It was totally so so and brings nothing to the table. In fact I can truly say it’s the worst smart interface on the market. We then switched to another OLED in the Sony Bravia 8. Spent a little more because Sony has a good tv reputation but this tv froze once, randomly rebooted a few times and had voice to picture issues where someone speaks and there is a sync issue with the persons mouth. Returned it because I’m not getting stuck with a buggy tv after spending $1600. I did love the google tv interface though and that’s why we went with the Hisense U8n. I was hesitant on purchasing a Hisense because of the perceived low end brand. But man I was wrong… this tv rocks. The picture is amazing. The brightness is off the charts. I actually have to lower the brightness to 70 on standard mode. The picture is as close to an OLED but much brighter…which is way better when watching sports. The Google tv interface is awesome. Way more smoother and responsive than that of the Sony Bravia 8. This TV for $900 is an absolute steal. Hopefully this tv remains this great a year from now and well after. Go ahead and save close to a thousand dollars compared to the “high end” brands above and purchase this Hisense. You won’t regret it.

I love this TV! The picture is full of color and clarity. The contrast between the black level and brightness is gorgeous. My Xbox gaming is most definitely next level at the 120hz refresh rate. The most astonishing to me is the sound. With my previous TV I had a Bose soundbar connected but the sound with this TV is incredible and includes, albeit small, a subwoofer built in. I don't even use the bose soundbar anymore. Yes, I'm a happy camper with this purchase.

I’ve been thoroughly impressed with the Hisense U8 Series (8U) TV—this is easily one of the best TVs in its class and price range. From the moment I set it up, the experience has been exceptional. Here’s why:
Picture Quality:
The U8 delivers stunning visuals thanks to its Mini-LED backlighting and Quantum Dot technology. Colors are incredibly vibrant, blacks are deep and inky, and the contrast is superb. It handles HDR content beautifully with Dolby Vision and HDR10+ support, making movies and games feel incredibly immersive.
Brightness and Viewing Experience:
This TV gets seriously bright, which is great for daytime viewing or well-lit rooms. The peak brightness in HDR content really makes highlights pop without washing out the dark areas. It also has excellent reflection handling, so you can watch comfortably any time of day.
Gaming Performance:
Gamers will love this TV. With HDMI 2.1 ports, 120Hz refresh rate, and VRR/ALLM support, it’s a fantastic choice for next-gen consoles. Input lag is low, and gameplay feels incredibly smooth and responsive. Whether it’s fast-paced shooters or cinematic RPGs, the U8 delivers.
Sound Quality:
For a TV of this size and price, the built-in speakers are surprisingly good. With Dolby Atmos support, sound is clear, spacious, and detailed. Of course, for a true home theater experience, a soundbar or surround setup would be a great addition—but you won’t be disappointed out of the box.
Smart Features:
Hisense uses the Google TV platform, which is fast, intuitive, and packed with apps. The interface is smooth and well-organized, with excellent recommendations and voice control via Google Assistant. Setup was quick, and the customization options are robust.
Build Quality and Design:
The design is sleek and modern with thin bezels and a premium finish. It looks fantastic whether wall-mounted or on a stand. The remote is simple and ergonomic with dedicated buttons for popular streaming services.

Exceptional picture quality from the wide color gamut to excellent color accuracy. Black levels approaching OLED thanks to the thousands of local dimming zones. The major star of the show for me is the 3,000 nits of brightness it can push out in HDR content. The sun in a movie scene looks so bright you shield your eyes like the real thing. Exaggerating a bit but not too far. Love automatic low latency mode for gaming, it works great in competitive shooters on my pc and Xbox. Intuitive google tv interface. Quality backlit remote. Heavy duty stand is sturdy. My only real gripe is that the UI can feel sluggish as you navigate. The value is off the charts. Certainly don’t buy it if it’s not “on sale” this is a $1,100 TV. Wait out any temporary price hikes.

If you're reading this chances are that you are aware of the U8 series as one of the best bang for the buck televisions out there and that this year's model specifically has a much higher peak brightness than last year's. So I may as well start there: this thing is BRIGHT. I mean, crazy bright. If you crank the brightness setting and open up the built-in web browser it pretty much goes straight to a fully white screen. And I'm telling you... at this level the TV is brighter than the four lights in my room! It's pretty nuts. Almost overwhelmingly bright. Where you benefit from that the most, of course, is when watching HDR content in any number of apps that support it. My previous television was a decent model with HDR/Dolby Vision support but it's crazy how much better things are now than five years ago, even. Go fire up one of the movies on Disney+ that is IMAX Enhanced and watch this TV completely come to life. I really have no picture complaints at the highest levels. It just handles all of that wonderfully. I've turned off a lot of the motion smoothing options, but other than that I haven't touched any of the settings when in Dolby Vision or HDR 10+. It really is wonderful right out of the box. I will say, I've had a little bit of a time getting some things that are just streaming in 1080p to look great. Some original shows on Netflix, for example. I may just need to do some further tweaking of the settings, or it could just be that this television really highlights things that weren't great looking to begin with. I'm not sure. I do know that just turning off motion smoothing once doesn't mean it's off universally. So you may want to double check those things when bouncing around from app to app. As for Mini-LED vs. OLED, I think it's a case where if you have either you are going to be very happy. If you can afford OLED, have at it. But it's truly a great time where there's an option that's pretty darn close but frequently a good bit cheaper. I have noticed very little blooming, and mainly only when there's white text against a black background. Viewing angles could be better (see pics), but it's perfectly fine for our specific seating arrangement.
But if you skipped all of that and just saw this: the picture looks incredible overall.
Sound. Here's probably all you need to know: I watched something once for about ten minutes before realizing the sound wasn't coming through my Samsung Dolby Atmos soundbar system and was instead coming out of the TV speakers. I had no idea! It's very impressive. If you don't already have external speakers of some kind, I'd try the TV speakers out and see how important it is to you personally to have something better. You may be able to get by just fine depending on your own tastes.
Remote. I think it might be one of my favorites ever. I love the brushed aluminum look and it feels weighty in the hand even though it's plastic. There is some automatic backlighting built in that is very appreciated and the buttons have a great rubbery feel that makes navigation super easy. I like the app shortcut buttons and you can even program one of them to an app or action of your choice. Pretty cool! Pro Tip: use the menu button to make quick picture/sound adjustments. It's easier than going to the settings button, and truthfully a little confusing at first having both. Which brings me to...
Google TV. This is my first experience with this OS and there's a lot to like. I prefer it to the blandness of Roku, but it's not as elegant as the AppleTV software. The main page is simple to navigate and signing in with a Google account made a lot of app log ins very easy. Pretty much any app you want is available and I dig the built in "live" TV options. But there are some weird quirks. For starters, there's a library category up top. That's great in theory, but if you have a large library of movies or shows that you own then good look scrolling through it because there's no simple "view all" option. It's insanity. You're better off to search for Google Play Movies app or whatever it's called now, open that up, and scroll through your library that way. And then I ran into this issue where I should be able to use my Google Photos library as a screensaver in "ambient mode." See the picture I attached. I followed the instructions and opened the Google Home app... only to discover using my Google Photos library isn't even listed as an option. Will it ever show up? Who knows! In some ways, I think Google is guilty of what so many of these TV software systems are guilty of: trying to do too much. Just make it easy for me to find stuff. Ah, the modern dilemma...
Games. I'm not much of a gamer, but Metroid Prime on the Switch looked incredible. So take that for what it's worth.
All in all, this is an easy recommendation. The TV excels at what I want a modern TV to do: light up a room and make HDR content blow my socks (and eyes) off. The design itself is stylish and subtle. The back of the tv actually looks cool! It's heavy and the pedestal seems rock solid. I'm super happy with this set and hope to continually be blown away by it for the next ten years.

This tv is stunning, especially for the price. This tv is bright, clear, and easy to use. This has the best picture i have ver had in a tv. Blacks are deep and truely black. Hdr is amazing and bright. Images and video is produced very accurately. This tv makes me want to rewatch movies again. The audio the tv produces is surprisingly great. Built in subs are pretty darn good.

First, the picture: awesome! The setup was difficult and required two people because the tv is extremely heavy and the little instruction sheet was difficult to understand. And we don’t find it at all very user friendly. Navigating should be a breeze these days. But not here. Constantly requiring user to enter user code when switching to streaming. The remote is slim but not ergonomic as it’s difficult to hold onto while navigating controls.

I purchased this TV specifically for football season and have not been disappointed in the slightest. With a large enough screen it allows for multi-view of games and does not lose any quality with regard to refresh rates. I also considered purchasing a surround sound system with the television, but was surprised how well the sound quality is from the television right out of the box. In terms of drawbacks my only even minimal concern is that this is a HEAVY television, which might present some challenges if you are looking to wall mount. If you choose to use the base that comes with the television, it is sturdy and heavy duty, which is reassuring. Overall, it fit all of the needs that I asked for (sports viewing, video games, streaming movies) at a great price and would highly recommend.

This one bright tv, it's almost blinding in the dark. It's a huge upgrade over a basic Samsung 4k 55 inch I had from 2017. If you are upgrading from a newer high end TV you may not see a big difference but if you have a budget tv you will. This tv really brings out the best of my 4K disc movies john wick 4 looks jaw dropping as
and I can play my Xbox games that allow 120 fps
I've had trouble connecting to the Internet wirelessly though and have had to use an Ethernet cord which is not ideal but the built-in Google TV operating system is fast. There is a robust speaker on the back of the TV with really nice bass. The TV comes with a base that is very heavy metal and solid and you assemble it in the center of the TV which is better than the flimsy legs you see placed on opposite ends on other TV's.

My wife renovated our kitchen, dining area, and great room. As part of the deal, she wanted me to mount our old Sony Bravia 50 inch TV over the fireplace from its former location in a corner. I thought the 50 inch was too small for that space and wanted a 75 inch. We compromised on this 65 inch set. It’s a great TV! Easy set up out of the box. Links to your Google account and you’re off to the races. Very intuitive and nicely built remote control comes with it. I did not reinstall the cable box for a cleaner look. It really doesn’t need cable because Netflix, Disney+, YouTube, Tubi, etc. all run flawlessly. The picture is very good, but the most impressive part is the sound. It has a subwoofer in the back and downward aiming speakers on the bottom. The sound is night and day better than the old Sony Bravia set. It really does not need a sound bar unless you are an audiophile. It is more than adequate for our family’s needs. Hopefully this TV will last us many years.

My previous Hisense H9F died after 4.5 years. It was a great TV when I purchased in 2019 and over time it had become increasingly buggy and slow. It also would not work well for CEC control, but the picture quality was phenomenal. After watching reviews and reading others reviews I decided to purchase the U8N which is the current equivalent to my previous model. The picture quality on this TV is much improved over what was an already great TV. The brightness is a bonus and the colors pop. The sound is very good and pleasing. I sometimes prefer it over my 5.1.2 Surround system for dialogue driven media. It sounds that good. It plays nice with the other devices that I have connected via CEC. There is a small audio drop out issue that I experience through my 4K Apple TV when connected directly to TV. I resolved it by connecting Apple TV through the AV receiver (Sony AZ1000ES). This is likely an Apple TV issue as I have read complaints from people having same issue with other brand TV’s.
The built in apps look really good and to my eyes slightly better than the same apps running through the Apple TV. It could just be my imagination as the picture is phenomenal regardless.
My particular panel has noticeable vertical banding on a grey screen when local dimming is not active. It is not apparent during normal viewing and is pretty common on lots of panels.
Finally, I find that Dolby Vision is overrated in general. I am personally not a fan of it and find that most content looks dull. This includes DV gaming content from my XBox Series X. in the case of both this TV and my previous H9F, the Dolby Vision sacrifices brightness for contrast. I suppose that Dolby Vision does make the colors more lifelike, but does not provide the pop that many enjoy.
I consider this to be the best value TV for price vs performance.

After finally giving up on my Fire TV Omni, I was on the hunt for a new TV right before the Superbowl. Best Buy had a great deal on the U7 and the reviews were very good, so I thought I had my mind made up.
Once I got to the store, I saw the U8 and was blown away by the vivid colors and dark blacks. I did a comparison between the U7, U8, and a few OLEDs from Samsung, Sony and LG. Lots of online experts ranked the U8 up there with the best.
I am not a super savvy tech guy, but I know a good TV when I see it. Everything from Samsung, Sony or LG with comparable specs was at least $400 more.
BB also had a pretty great deal on the 65" U8, but it was $300 more than the U7, which was already at the high end of my budget.
I pulled the trigger on the U8 and I have ZERO regrets after 3 months. I lover everything about this TV. Google TV was very easy to navigate after being a loyal Fire TV guy for years. Little to no lag.
The pic is great, the brightness is unbelievable, and the sound is perfect for our set up. Changing settings to your own preferences is very easy too and some online reviewers have suggested settings if you need help.
The one negative mentioned in the reviews was the subpar viewing angle. I disagree. Coming from the Fire TV Omni, viewing the U8 from an angle is very good.
Overall, I think it is one of the best TV's available in this price range.

I’ve been thoroughly impressed with the Hisense U8 65” TV.
The picture quality is outstanding, with sharp details, deep blacks, and rich, vibrant colors that truly pop. One of the standout features for me is the brightness—whether it’s a dark scene or a bright, sunlit room, the display holds up exceptionally well. This is especially noticeable in my living room, where sunlight pours in during the day, yet the screen remains clear and vivid without any washed-out colors.
Initially, I was skeptical about the Google TV platform, but I’ve grown to like it. While I’m still not a huge fan of the recommendations on the home page, I may get used to it over time. Navigating through the interface is generally smooth and responsive, though I do run into occasional hang-ups. That said, the overall experience has been positive.
Setting up the TV was straightforward, and it worked seamlessly with my soundbar. The remote is another highlight—it has a premium feel, some weight to it, and a simple, intuitive layout. The illuminated buttons are a great touch, automatically lighting up when picked up, making it easy to use in low-light settings.
I opted for the 65” model due to my budget at the time, and I have no regrets. While many reviews praise the 75” version for its improved viewing angles, I mostly sit directly in front of the screen and find the performance more than adequate.
Overall, the Hisense U8 65” delivers fantastic value, excellent picture quality, and a great viewing experience. I’d highly recommend it to anyone looking for a high-quality TV at a competitive price.

I'm really pleasantly surprised! I've only purchased / owned Samsung or LG televisions, and wasn't sure how this one would compare. After waiting several days for a Friend or Family to come and help me put it together, I decided to just do it myself as I had with my smaller sets before. Out of the box, it is a pretty nice looking unit. Slim, modern. Although it was heavier than my previous sets, it wasn't so bad that I couldn't lift it up quickly to lie flat on the bed so I could attach the base. Now, the base IS HEAVY!? Steel, iron, felt like it had to weigh 30lbs on its own. Once I attached it, it took me about 20 minutes of very careful maneuvering using an ottoman, then a chair, to get it lifted up onto my console. But I got it up there! 😁 To the Ladies, try to get help if you can, but be prepared to sweat if you can't! It is larger than I imagined as well, looks AWESOME in my smaller living room. I went back and forth about the 65" or the 75", 65" is perfect. Think 75" would have been too large. For reference, my living room is rectangular and approx. 20' x 14', something like that. It's got great colors and everything looks really nice on screen. The two issues I'm encountering, though, are the adaptive picture options are too obvious when adapting. It's distracting. The setting that seems to work for me is Theater Night. The other problem is that the remote can only be connected to my soundbar via Bluetooth, I can't find a way to set it up to operate the soundbar directly, if that makes sense. When the remote is paired to it through Bluetooth, the volume doesn't change very much when you turn it up. I ended up just disconnecting it and using the soundbar remote. Don't like having to use two remotes, but maybe it's something I'm doing wrong and can figure out later. I will say the sound from the TV itself is actually very good. Has a subwoofer in the back. After a few days, I might try just using it on its own. We'll see. All in all, I think this is a very nice, affordable TV with all the bells and whistles. I'm an Android girl so it being a Google TV is so great, I signed in and all of my accounts and info synced up. I'm glad I got it!
