Ghosting.
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Quality is some kind of ok. picture not the greatest but ok. What it made me return the item was ghosting, some people don't mind that and learn how to live with it. Not me though.

U(LED) Me Down
||Posted . Owned for 7 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. For a TV at this price I don't expect it to compete with the likes of an OLED or a higher end Samsung QLED but I do expect everything to work. After having two of these tvs I can firmly say it does not meet that minimum criteria. There were numerous issues with HDMI sources where turning on and HDMI input source while the TV was on already would cause the whole TV to either: freeze where the remote would not work and needed to be hard reset but removing the power cord, not output any audio, or just hard restart all together. This problem sometimes even happened when the HDMI source was turned on prior to turning on the TV. This TV had numerous issues with its ARC capability when hooked up to a soundbar. Audio would sometimes play or not at all. It frequently had to be disconnected and reconnected to audio outputs for any sound to come out at all from the TV speakers or the soundbar. I reached out to support and received instructions to update the firmware via a flashdrive and the same problem persisted. Hisense then refunded me the amount of the TV so I could purchase another one. I purchased the same model and again experienced the same issues. Do not buy if you intend on plugging anything externally via any of the HDMI ports.

Disappointed
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Worked great for about 20 days before the wifi functionality broke. The TV can’t find any wifi networks, and turns the wifi setting off a couple seconds after you turn it on. I have reset the TV, unplugged then plugged, restarted and nothing has fixed it. All Hisense support can do is send me a firmware update which also doesn’t work.

Major disappointment
||Posted . Owned for 2 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Green tint on everything and no way to get rid of it without affecting other tints. Constant shuddering, even on very slow moving objects. TV turns off on its own, often while I’m gaming. Nice. This TV has been a massive disappointment.

Not as spectacular as advertised
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I’ve seen the OLED TVs in stores & always was in awe of the clarity of the picture. When I was able to select & review this tv I was super excited. It has good & bad points but I find it far from the incredible, spectacular picture they claim it to be. This is a 4K tv so that is about all that really looks good on it. We have an antenna for regular channels & most of those aren’t broadcast in the best quality to begin with but on this tv some are barely even watchable, very blurry & grainy. Since we don’t have cable or a dish I can’t comment on how those look. There are 3 HDR settings, the best picture is on vivid, standard is good but energy saving setting is dull & hazy, even with 4K. There are also 3 Dolby picture settings which are set for streaming. We have HBO max, Hulu & Disney+, I watched in 4K on those & the picture is good but not great. Ultra 4K blu rays look pretty good & regular blu rays do too but they were animated & they usually look good anyway. Regular DVD was very grainy. Most of these look better on my UHD tv. The connection was very easy & we even used our old TVs power cord which was compatible. Most of the apps are already on the screen & connected without much effort. The screen is anti-glare & we have big windows in the room so the glare was minimal. Built in speakers sound good too. The remote is quick for scrolling & signing in to streaming accounts & is backlit which is nice but it doesn’t have any numbers on it so you can’t just punch in the channel you want, buttons are small too., Google voice assist is a nice feature on the remote. I tried to screen mirror my iPad but was unable to do since this supports android & windows. Like all other new devices there are very vague instructions in the booklet provided. I even looked up the model online to see if there was an owners manual there but I couldn’t find anything more than what I already had. This looks good if your going to use 4K all the time but that isn’t always available. I really had high hopes for this tv & wanted to like it but I’m just not that impressed by it, even though it does have a good picture for some things, it’s just not that great, especially with such a large price tag.

Do not buy !!
||Posted . Owned for 2 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Ok. I had this tv delivered on June 4 2022. Today August 5 2022 the tv out of no where just turned off and didnt turn on again. Ive tried everything. Of course its out of the return period. 2 months of working!! Thats all i got out of this tv. Now I have to deal with the return and see. Do not buy this brand. I went from a TCL which i had no issue with, to this brand which was highly recommended and rated, and obviously overrated.

Very nice TV
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Let me start by saying that I like the Hisense 65” Android TV, a lot. It replaces our four-year old Samsung Smart TV. We are not replacing the Samsung because of any major issues but because we’ve been hoping to get an Android TV that met our needs. And to us, this unit fits the bill. We are not using the Hisense for gaming, so nothing I touch on will speak to that. We use the Hisense to watch streaming services like Netflix, Amazon Prime, YouTube TV, and other services, and to stream videos via Chromecast. Connected to the Hisense is our 4k DVD player and our Night Owl video security system. Setup was very easy. Since we were connecting the Hisense by WiFi and not Ethernet, we just went through the network setup and identified our WiFi SSID and its password. I then authenticated my Google account, and away we went. After using the Hisense for a while, we immediately noticed a major different in sound quality in comparison to the Samsung. Sound quality on the Samsung had been an irritation for us for about a year before feeling forced to purchase a soundbar. We have used the soundbar with the Samsung ever since, and it seems to have addressed our sound issues. With the Hisense, we have had absolutely zero problems hearing our shows. As noted above, we subscribe to a good number of streaming services, and on the Hisense, they all sound crystal clear. Pairing the remote was easy. Note that it is not a smart remote, so it is not going to control your DVD player or any other devices. In changing settings on the Hisense, I spent a good deal of time tweaking Picture and Sound. This was not because we ran into problems with the TV, we were just trying to gauge what changes best suited our viewing habits. There are, for sure, a ton of options to choose from. Both Picture and Sound allow you to tweak their respective features based on show genre. However, I wasn’t going to be happy if I had to go into settings each time I changed channels. Plus, because other family members might be using the TV, they might not be familiar with how to make the necessary changes on a per-show basis either. As such, this is where I turned on Enhanced Viewing. Enhanced Viewing has three options: 1) Automatic Content Recognition, 2) Picture mode Auto Adaptation, and 3) Sound Mode Auto Adaptation. Essentially, turning these on give the Hisense the okay to tweak both sound and picture depending on what kind of show you are viewing. So far, it has more than adequately met our needs. With Enhanced Viewing turned on, a message momentarily pops up on the screen when it changes modes - say, from sports to a movie - to let you know that this feature is working behind the scenes. Picture and sound quality are both exceptional, but really stand out when watching a 4k movie. I purchased a 4k version of Dr. Strange specifically for this and it was impressive to watch. The sound was robust and the picture exceptional. We use Google Home to connect all our smart devices at home. Android TV is a Google product, and as such Hisense integrates with complete transparency. Each time I say Okay Google, every device in earshot, including the Hisense, will try to service the request. Or, to avoid saying Okay Google, just press the Google Assistant button on the remote and state your question or command. I was able to say “Okay Google, Pause Android TV”, and it did. Unpause worked as well. So did Increase volume, and others This TV is the first product from Hisense I have owned, so I have no experience with other products that they manufacturer. But for the price for this TV, its quality and functionality, I think it is an exceptionally good deal. And for us, it earns a 5-star rating.

Hisense U8 - its living up to its specs
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.to cut to the chase, i would say BUY IT!!! no knock on the gamers, but the only tv that makes Gamers happy is the OLED. so dont let "ghosting" deter you especially if you primarily watch movies. I have not experienced any ghosting or color issues straight out the box. however there are tons of settings on this tv to help any user. with that said....this tv is 100% living up to every spec that is on the box and website. i came across this tv a month ago while window shopping. i checked every forum for any feedback on what this tv could possibly do and after waiting 3 weeks for best buy to release it, i picked one up luckily on an exchange. this tv hits all of the marks. to start the native apps on the android tv are really easy to use, just log in. the response when switching from app to app is really good, its not laser quick but 3 seconds isnt going to frustrate you. the picture quality is bananas!! when using native Amazon Prime the tv recognizes HDR10+ and changes the settings. when using Netflix the tv goes into DolbyVisionIQ. i was watching Raya and the Last Dragon and i could see the rain drops falling off her shoulder in the background. This tv highlights everything. I will say that the OLED contrast on pure blacks is better. I could tell the difference when watching the Conjuring, however everything else was spot on. the apps and the ability to add apps is very convenient! Vudu and Disney+ are the only two native apps that do not offer Dolby Atmos support on the Hisense. this is a licensing issue with hisense from my understanding. The TV speakers DEFINITELY get very loud and at 15 you hear the mid to high range. the tv speakers are going to give you any big thump, but they arent bad to listen to if you dont have a soundbar or AVR i use an Nvidia Shield Pro as my alternative media streamer and it passes through Dolby Vision and Atmos. When true 4k and atmos is passing through this tv, the quality to me hits another notch. the Shield and the TV are both upscaling the picture quality. i mean thats like eating the cake and ice cream with a cherry. the remote control is pretty good as well. believe or not, those 6 dedicated streaming buttons are actually pretty useful. The remote also allows you to assign a "FAV" input setting. so you just hit that button and your favorite input is selected, i set mine to cable tv. you still have the standard input selector. the remote is backlight and of course you have your settings button, google assistant button, Android TV home button. one thing to note, the tv does have a physical off switch for google assistant but that turns the LED on. if you dont want the LED on, you can disable google assitant in the TV menu. overall this tv checked all the boxes i could think of. i didnt add any pictures because they really dont show you how bright this tv really is. when i turn down the brightness i actually love the tv picture on screen even more, just my preference. i didnt receive any special pricing or promos, im simply sharing this review because i actually think this tv can hold its own against any LED on the market. my previous tv was a Samsung q6fn QLED and this Hisense blows it out the river. Even in between that i shopped around and researched so many tv's that i chose not to upgrade last year because i wanted a tv that was basically "Future" ready. The Hisense U8G is definitely worth the money.
