I had a Vizio TV that developed multi-colored lines. It's my TV in the basement so I was looking for a mid-range TV that just worked. Enter the Hisense U6N which blew away my expectations. The Hisense U6N offers Mini-LED, Quantum Dot Color Technology, Local Dimming, and Dolby Vision (along with all major HDR formats). The result is a very capable TV that produces a clear picture, remarkable eye-popping color, that has the brightness to handle a fully lit room and local dimming for those times you want to turn out the lights and enjoy dark scenes. Refresh Rate on this TV set is 60 Hz, but Motion Rate capable of 240. The bezels around the sides and top are about 1 cm wide. The bottom bezel is a little wider. But it all fades into the background when you're watching content on the TV. Physical setup was pretty easy. There are instructions in the box on how to set up the feet of the TV. These feet are about 12 inches in length and can be paired up in two configurations. The widest configuration is great for stability, while the narrow configuration is great for when you don't have a wide enough TV stand. In my case, since I was taking down my old TV that was wall mount, I was able to quickly swap in the wall mounting frame into the 400 x 400 VESA mounting configuration. At roughly 60 lbs, the TV screen isn't terribly heavy, just bulky, so best to have a partner to help you move it around. The Hisense U6N has 4 HDMI. 3 of them clustered together off to the side with the third one supporting eARC, the 4th HDMI port faces the wall behind the TV along with the Optical port and Network jack. There are two USB ports supplying up to 5V @ 0.5A. It also has a Coax input and a headphone jack. The remote is laid out pretty logically and has a nice feel to it. It's plastic, but it has a brushed aluminum feel to it. It is also backlight which is a nice touch. First time setup was a little tedious. There are a lot of legal agreements involved. Nowadays, this is par for the course. It took two attempts before it connected to my wireless network. It also didn't like connecting to my Google account the first time, but afterwards it was just fine. Once it was set up, I could connect to my usual streaming services or install them pretty easily. I connected this TV to a different branded sound bar via an Optical Audio cable. I had to go to two places to set the Optical Audio. One to set the output, another to set the audio pass through. Once that was done, I found I could control some of the volume with the TV but ultimate volume is really controlled by the soundbar. In other words, I found that the audio was set to 80 on the TV and changes to that number were subtle. However, when I flipped to the soundbar's remote to control the volume, it made a big difference. If you're in a similar predicament, I would look for a universal remote where you can set the volume controls to the soundbar instead of the TV. Watching TV Shows or Movies or even YouTube videos is quite enjoyable on this U6N TV. The out of the box color contrast is very pleasing. The colors pop very nicely (not comically). I connected this to my Xbox One S for some 4K Blu Rays and was quite impressed with the performance. I also grabbed some of my games and did not feel any input lag and I feel that the processor really worked in my favor to eliminate tearing. After settling in with the TV, I did find a few annoyances. The first is that it takes about 40 seconds for the TV to start up on a cold start. The first 5 seconds you have a blank screen and then the Hisense logo shows up. Then after another 15 seconds, a Google logo shows up. Then 20 seconds after that, is when the TV menu pops in. This is unusually long in my experience. Second, response to the remote control is sluggish and WiFi connection doesn't always connect right away. Third is that the power cord is on the right hand side of the TV while all the other input cables are on the left. This made wire management just a little more difficult. Third, there is a white status LED that in my opinion should be a lot dimmer. When the TV is off, that status LED is on and kinda bright. When the TV is on, thankfully that LED is off. And last, while there are microphones on the TV and remote, if I want to disable the TV microphone, there is a slider switch that can mute the microphone, however four amber LEDs stay on. I am hoping a future software update will allow a user to disable those amber LEDs. Otherwise, I might just have to employ a little bit of black electrical tape. In the end, it's a great TV. It's loaded with well thought out features that you would be hard pressed to find in an LG or Samsung branded TV for the equivalent price.

Worse TV ever. Purchased the first one end of December 2 weeks later, BestBuy just came and replaced it with another Hisense, different model. Now 3 weeks later, it has been freezing up, closes out of the program we are watching and goes back to the home screen all by itself. The mouths do not match the audio. It blips in and out. Now we are having a TCL brought instead. Hope it works better. Thumbs up to BestBuy customer service though for working with us so fabulously.

PROS: - Vibrant colors and deep blacks thanks to full array local dimming/mini-LEDs and quantum dot - Smart TV with built-in Google Assistant so you have all your favorite streaming apps built-in - Thin bezels for a sleek look CONS: - Initial setup and updates take some time - Startup is slow - Remote response can be slow I was very surprised about the size of the TV thinking my previous 65” TV was huge but this Hisense 75” is an absolute behemoth framed with thin bezels all the way around. Thoughtfully they did include two mounting options for the legs, both wide and narrow, so that you can adjust based on the size of your media center console without having to go buy a new one. If you’re going to wall mount it uses a standard 400mm x 400mm VESA pattern with M6 screws. In terms of inputs if you are like me with an external soundbar then you’ll be pleased with the inclusion of eARC on one of the HDMIs in addition to 3 other HDMI ports. There is also optical audio if you require that for your soundbar or dedicated audio receiver. The TV only supports up to 60Hz in, but for most applications the picture is going to looks great and you won’t notice a difference. The TV features an RJ-45 port so you can hardwire your internet in if you have the drop for it. A minor annoyance, especially if you are wall mounting the TV is that the ports are all on one side and power is on the other which makes things slightly messy if you have power and ports integrated into one box on your wall for example. On the front of the TV there is a manual privacy slider for the built-in microphone if you wish to shut it off which is great for those that want the option. There are USB ports (0.5A) on the back as well and while the TV does have built-in Google Assistant a nice touch would have been something with higher amperage in case you did want to plug in something else. Turning on the TV for the first time you’ll be greeted with many updates which does take some time, but it’s also great to see that they are continually updating the software. The controller is plastic with a metal finish, but is nice with app shortcut buttons, a google assistant button, and backlight. Navigating the software can seem slow due to some input lag from the controller, but it's very straight forward to navigate through your favorite streaming apps and shows. Since this unit is mini-LED with full array local dimming the contrast is much better than older LED TVs that might only have direct lit or edge lit backlights which results in a washed-out picture. The mini-LED strategy paired with quantum dot technology really makes the colors vibrant and pop. 4K YouTube footage, Netflix, and games on my Xbox Series X were immersive and looked great with deep blacks and rich colors. The built-in speakers offer a very balanced audio experience with a good amount of bass that’s good for day-to-day enjoyment.

Great tv with a beautiful picture, mediocre sound

I have been using the Hisense U6 for about a week or so and have been pretty impressed so far. After unboxing and plugging it in, there is, of course, the obligatory update which took about 20 minutes to complete. (I am using a wifi connection which is pretty speedy, but a wired connection could have brought this time down somewhat.) Once that was done, the rest of the setup process went smoothly through the Google Home app. That part took about 10 minutes but it was painless. Once all of that was done and my external devices were connected, it was on to a beautiful viewing experience. Before getting to that though, I will say that during setup I noticed the system sounds and clicks were on which I personally cannot stand. It’s not easy or intuitive to find the toggle to shut them off so having to spend several minutes digging and drilling down through the various menus was frustrating. A minor issue, but something that irritated me. One other small gripe is about the remote. It is a sleek, thin, and somewhat slippery device which I fear I’m going to drop just about every time I pick it up. The battery compartment is a little difficult to figure out and I was afraid I was going to break something trying to get it open. The backlighting is a nice add-on, but it’s not for all of the buttons. And I’m not the biggest fan of the preset quick access buttons, but at least there is one you can customize for yourself. Now on to the picture quality which is obviously the most important thing about a tv. The screen has great overall brightness and the color tones were perfect for my liking without having to make any adjustments which is a rarity. The clarity is absolutely amazing, especially when watching fast-paced sports or gaming. The local dimming provided by the mini-LED’s is much better than other tv’s I’ve owned in the past. It seems much more natural which is likely because of the dramatic increase in the number of supported zones (think thousands rather than less than 100), so the contrast difference in light and dark areas is dramatic without feeling blown out. For something in this price range, it is quite impressive. Hisense also has included an HDR IQ feature which allows the tv to automatically adjust to varying room lighting conditions. In the past, I have always turned these types of features off because they never seemed to really work, but Hisense has figured out how to do it and make it feel natural. While this set only has a 60Hz refresh, and doesn’t necessarily have all of the options you get in a high-end tv, it is certainly a leader in this price point and it doesn’t feel lacking in the options department. Finally, the sound quality is the only place this tv really sags. The built-in speakers just don’t have any “oomph” and the sound can be flat. Where I have this tv there really isn’t a good place to install a soundbar or other external speakers, so I’m stuck with what I’ve got. This isn’t my “main” tv so it’s not a huge deal, but if good sound is what you’re looking for, know you’ll likely need to supplement the built-ins with something else.

Another great TV from Hisense. I already own the A6 model from about three years ago and am pleased to welcome the U6 model into my household. Mini-led with full array local dimming is intended to provide great picture quality and it shows on this version. No more blooming or ghostly glow around dark scenes. When playing HDR quality footage, blacks are blacks as intended. It has Dolby Atmos built in, but I would still recommend getting a soundbar/subwoofer for better sound quality. I have it paired with a Hisense Dolby Atmos soundbar and the TV transfers the signal with no issues. However, for comparison purposes, I tested multiple Atmos scenes on Netflix with and without the soundbar. I admit I am surprised that the TV speakers alone provide great sound and, although minimal, I do notice the height effects when Atmos kicks in. However, the speakers do lack the bass that I am so accustomed to with the external soundbar/subwoofer but I still feel like the standard TV viewer will have no issue with the quality. The remote stands out with the textured gray color but I noticed it lacks a numeric keypad. In its place is a ‘123’ button to bring up the number selection menu. After using it for a while, I found it to be perfect for my use. All the App buttons (Netflix, Youtube, Amazon Video, Disney+, Tubi) are used in our household on a daily basis. My favorite remote feature is the motion sensor lighting, which is perfect while watching tv in a darkened room. As soon as you pick up the remote, the buttons light up and then turn off automatically after you set it back down. This may be unimpressive to others, but it is a new feature to me. As a side note, I appreciate the manufacturer’s 2-year warranty for parts/labor. Overall, an excellent TV for 2024.

To start, I was looking for a TV on the larger side. 65 inches was the smallest I was willing to go but I really wanted a 75-inch TV to fill in my living room. I didn't want to compromise on features, performance, or visual quality. After spending some time with this TV, I can confidently say it has everything I was looking for at a great price point. The Mini-LED technology has ensured that I'm never going back to regular LED. The images are vibrant and crisp. The blacks are black and the colors pop. Movies, video games, and streaming all look amazing on this screen. Even games rated for 120 FPS look great because of the 240 Motion Rate technology, which I don't entirely understand but I appreciate. 600 nits are more than enough on this huge screen. You will not be disappointed with how bright it can get! Unless you plan on having it exclusively outside, that sun is killer. Set up was easy but it is definitely a two-person job with its size. You don't want to damage it right out of the box. The built-in Google Assistant and UI are great! I haven't experienced any lag in settings or when switching apps. It all just works, which is heaven-sent. There is no buffering and no launching issues. 10/10 user experience. I fully recommend this TV!!

The Television was much lighter than anticipated when bringing it in and setup was minimal. I would recommend doublechecking the foam for any parts that you cannot find - they are securely located, but require you to access what would be the 'top flap' of the box. The remote setup was quick and the ability to link to Google account made all of th app installation and use much faster than expected. The weight of the unit, as mentioned above, was remarkable and made it easy for two people to set in place. I will mention also that the depth of the stand is 14 inches and although adjustable, if you are using the stand rather than a wall mount, measure your shelf/table depth first. Plug in locations were good and the height from base to bottom of the television was sufficient to centrally locate a media device with good clearance. included or preloaded streaming services covered the most common and certainly all that we use. The refresh rate and sound were great and although the menus are easy to use, we didn't have to spend much time in them. The layout and accessibility of selections was good, the ability to move app icons on the screen took some getting used to. Casting from external devices such as phones and PC went off simply as well - very nice option. If you need a TV this size for sports viewing or movies, and you have a deep enough stand I would recommend this unit. Very pelased.
