I think that the quality is very poor and the sound isn’t great. Of course it is a flip phone, but in comparison to other devices of it’s kind, it is not the best

    A blast from the past

The Barbie flip phone is a blast from the past in that it has the features expected of a flip phone from the past. Open to answer or switch to preference of pressing a button to answer. When opening the phone upon it turning on, you get a greeting, “Hello Barbie”. There are ring tones specific to Barbie life, such as the Dreamhouse ringtone, poolside ringtone, etc. Phone can be restarted or shut off with the push of a button. Speaker is pretty good for a flip phone. Camera is subpar but is what should be expected from a flip phone. You can expand the images of picture texts. Phone contains a flashlight. Texting requires using the alpha-numeric pad with a combo of scrolling through the letters. Obviously the phone has been created bro be mostly used for talking and not so much for texting. Setting up a certain SIM card from a certain mobile phone carrier was impossible due it needing to download an app which the phone’s App Store couldn’t do. I ended up going with my internet company and it went very smoothly. The phone contains a radio and if you connect a headset via plug in, you can receive channels. The package comes with 3 different back covers, a beaded handheld strap, a pink charger and the front of the flip phone is a mirror. The battery doesn’t seem to have a long battery operating power so keep your charging cord with you. You can connect to wifi and get on the internet and search but it’s not really designed for a hefty search. It’s preloaded with games and has its own store from which you can download more games, apps, and more. I downloaded a QR code to help download the app for the first carrier but that was unsuccessful for whatever reason. I was able to activate the SIM card by using my computer. There’s a slot behind the battery for a SIM card and a micro SD card so you can expand your memory. I rec’d texts of links to music and that worked effortlessly. The buttons are large. The phone feels fragile and I feel it’s not rugged enough to withstand day to day use. It works great as a flip phone but there’s the sense that it’s fragile construction May not withstand a drop. The back cover comes off easily if one was to try to remove it to get to the SIM card. I love the color, the accessories, the sturdy pink box it comes in and the Barbie logo. It also comes with extra accessories to attach to the strap, stickers and jewelry type stickers as well. I would recommend highly to a Barbie collector. I wouldn’t recommend for children or someone who’s not so careful with their electronics.

    Throwback Fun!

We gave this phone to our daughter for Christmas, and needless to say it was a smash hit! We had no issue getting it activated on our carrier, and everything worked perfectly as it should. Watching her experience texting on a flip phone with the classic T9 keyboard has been fun to watch, and brings back tons of memories for us. The presentation of this device is pretty much perfect. It comes with multiple backs to customize the device, as well as a lanyard and a ton of stickers! The reception has been on par with our other smart phones on the account, and we have never had issues with calls coming through or texts working properly. The phone has a decent camera for what it is, and my daughter has really enjoyed snapping tons of pictures with it. The speakerphone is decent, and the build quality leads me to believe this device will stand the test of time. There are a couple of drawbacks that I didn't anticipate with this device. First off there is no Bluetooth, something that many classic flip style phones do have, even many years ago. Secondly there are no real parental controls, which is worry some even on a device with limited connectivity. It still has a web browser and there is no way we have found to lock that down for a young child.

    That's a LOT of Pink

Let’s cut to the chase - this phone is not for adults. The user interface is slow and sluggish, the pink color is as obnoxious as it gets, and the camera is about as useful as the rear backup camera on a 2008 Toyota Prius. So why did I give it 4 stars? Because this is the ideal first phone for your tween if you’re not ready for them to have the full power of AI or unrestricted internet access in the palm of their hands. Setting up the phone was straightforward - simply pop off the back, insert a SIM card, and it easily connected to our T-Mobile service. The build quality seemed adequate for how little it will likely be used. My daughter absolutely loved the mirror on the front, even though it constantly needed to be wiped clean. While the smudges would drive me crazy, they didn’t seem to bother her one bit. Everything about this phone is perfectly mediocre. No frills, no social media, no distractions, and no problems. It’s a great way to give your child some independence while keeping things simple and safe. I wouldn’t expect most tweens or teens to use this phone for long, as parents often cave and upgrade to a smartphone eventually. However, for that initial step into the world of technology, this phone does exactly what it needs to: provides basic communication without all the complications or temptations of a full-fledged smartphone. It’s a solid bridge to responsibility.

HMD Barbie Phone is adorable for your little ones and tweens. I got this one for my granddaughter, and I thought it would be a bust, considering that the other kids had bigger smartphones. But this one blew her away. The phone is packaged in a jewelry-style box with extra backplates, charms, and stickers to customize it to the owner's liking. It has a 2.8-inch screen with a front 1.77-inch display. It has a camera to take pictures, of course, a rear flashlight, and an FM radio when connected to the 3.5 mm corded headphone jack. There was no Bluetooth, but we could get by with that. It also has an internet browser for watching YouTube and surfing the net. I also found that it could use Wi-Fi calling, as it did have a Wi-Fi connection. This is an unlocked device, making it compatible with just about all phone carriers. Using it took me a little back in time because of the T9 texting style. But I do like that it's a straightforward phone with its own app store, which is young people's approved. I recommend this for the little ones.

This is a very high quality phone and perfect for tweens and early teens. The Barbie phone shows that it was designed in 1998 because it embraces the iconic flip phone design and does it in Barbie pink with bedazzled jewelry for true classic Barbie style. You are sure to delight any young one you gift this phone to. It is a fully functioning cellphone however, if you don’t want to use it as a cell phone, you can still use the phone by using Wi-Fi only which was my choice. I did insert my unlocked SIM card briefly to test the network connectivity and all seemed acceptable. Especially for the age group this phone is targeted towards. The build quality is extremely good for a phone company that I haven’t heard of. You get your choice of back plates that are very 90s as well as a couple of charms that connect to the phone’s lanyard. I will say it’s very nice to see that they include an actual charger with the phone and I’m happy to report it is USB-C. You also get a micro sd slot which is not present on nearly all flagship phones.

As the title implies, this was the perfect first phone for my daughter. While more limited than iOS or Android, KaiOS is Linux based and therefore more secure in my mind in terms of what my daughter can get access to. The phone can still be used to take photos and make phone calls and activated without issue with Verizon. It of course has the awesome Barbie theme and came with stickers that can be used to decorate the phone or anything else. It also charges with USB-C and all the other devices in the home. It also has a removable battery so it's easily replaceable when the time comes. It also has a decent size display as well as a secondary one and is a great reminder of the old flip phones. Since it isn't a smartphone, it has no apps so I know it will only be used for calls and texts. It also has swappable Barbie covers that are easily changed. It really looks like it's right out of the Barbie universe too. Overall, I highly recommend this phone to anyone looking for a non-smartphone and is a Barbie fan.

Okay. Let me be clear. I'm not using it for me. At least after tinkering with it for a couple of days. Because I might go off tangent on how my 9 year old adores me more now and that my ear cannot stop hearing "This is soooo cool" This phone is awesome, and I'm looking at it through our 9-year old girl’s eyes. The color, the packaging, the mirror, and all the added things that come with it, like replacement shells and trinkets and cute wrist lanyard are perfect for her. It's like a cosmetic kit but with actual real world functionality. Even the phone charger is in theme. The phone experience is great because it is very simple. It runs on KaiOS. The menu is simple and the icons are in theme. It has pretty useful apps like calculator, or radio. There is no social media which makes it great for our little user. It does have a browser though so I just need to make sure I put in the necessary age filters. The buttons are easy to use—reminds me a lot of my Nokia days. There is a good amount of customization like wallpaper or ringtones. Phone calls are decent and per the other line, my audio is clear. It is cool too that I can hang up just by closing the clam. It has the option for headphones but the direct phone audio is clear enough. It does take some getting used to, for texting—because it’s been 20 years since I clicked a button multiple times without looking (and there is an option to do predictive texting). The games are cool too and it has a full color SNAKE game! Camera is not bad—it is a little dark but is quite expected. It records videos too and videos are as good as the photos. It does have an option to expand storage using a micro SD card, which is easily placed beside the sim card. I placed 4gb one from an old camera. It can help expand the number of photos that can be taken by the device because the phone does not have a lot of storage. The material is plastic. Not too hard and it kind of feels like a toy. It’s not bad though because it does not make me feel bad having to hand it over to a pre middle schooler. The whole phone is definitely targeting my 9 year old, because we also have a middle schooler and she doesn’t want it—she’s more into the actual iphone. But this—perfect for our younger one. The only odd thing is, of course, there is a set up path that requires the “agreement terms” for an 18 year old. That just means, it definitely needs a parent for set up, especially to secure her a physical sim. I definitely recommend this to parents who would like to give their children phones but without giving them too much of a phone. It is a great way to start disciplining them on using a phone and still give them access to communication.

    A Nostalgic and Functional Throwback

When I first heard about the HMD Barbie™ Phone, I knew I had to try it. A device that combines 90s nostalgia with modern functionality is right up my alley. From the moment I received it, the Barbie branding instantly brought back memories of my childhood. Unboxing Experience and Presentation Unboxing the Barbie™ Phone was like opening a time capsule. The packaging is vibrant and fun, featuring Barbie’s iconic pink color palette with a metallic finish. Inside the box, I found: The Barbie™ Phone itself (in a matte pink and gold combo). A charger. A removable battery (a nostalgic touch!). Two extra back covers—one glittery and one metallic pink. A sheet of Barbie stickers and gem stickers to customize the phone. A cute beaded lanyard and attachable charms. A cleaning cloth with the Barbie logo. A quick start guide with playful Barbie illustrations. The accessories make this phone feel more like a personalized piece of nostalgia. The back covers and stickers let me customize it, while the beaded lanyard gave it that classic flip-phone charm. Nostalgia in Use Using the Barbie™ Phone for calls and texts transported me back to simpler times. The tactile keypad makes texting oddly satisfying—no autocorrect frustrations here! The ringtone options include nostalgic tones that reminded me of the original Barbie-branded electronics. The phone is wonderfully minimalist, with no app store to download distracting apps. It has the basics: a phonebook, messaging app, a simple camera, and a built-in FM radio. There's no constant ping of notifications, which made my experience much more peaceful. Making calls felt refreshingly personal. The sound quality is clear, and the small screen meant I wasn’t tempted to multitask. It’s a reminder of how much we’ve overcomplicated communication with modern smartphones. Battery Life Battery life is outstanding. After three days of moderate use (a mix of calls, texts, and listening to the FM radio), the phone still had a decent charge left. The removable battery is a nostalgic and practical addition—it’s so nice to be able to swap it out if needed, just like in the old days. Conclusion The HMD Barbie™ Phone is more than just a piece of tech—it’s a lifestyle statement. It’s perfect for anyone who wants to simplify their digital life, embrace nostalgia, or make a fun fashion statement. The minimal distractions made me more present in the moment, and the design is a conversation starter wherever I go. Sure, it’s not for heavy social media users or those needing advanced smartphone features, but for calls, texts, and a bit of retro fun, it’s perfect. The Barbie™ Phone made me appreciate the joy of simpler tech, and I’d highly recommend it for anyone looking for a break from modern smartphones.

    HMD Barbie Phone

So I just received my new HMD Barbie Phone a week ago and it couldn't have come along at a better time with it being Christmas. Perfect gift for my niece. Initially I was gonna pass it up but changed my mind as I realized it would make a perfect Christmas gift for my niece or a birthday gift for her next month. This is the perfect phone for the little girl in your life that loves Barbie and everything pink. It comes as an unlocked phone meaning you can probably use just about any cellular carrier you'd like. Just make sure they support 4G LTE. Unboxing the package (which is really cute and reminiscent of a jewelry box): * HMD Barbie Phone * 2 Extra Backplate Covers * Beaded Lanyard w/attachable charms * Stickers * Gem Stickers * Pink Colored Battery * Pink Colored Battery Charger * Cleaning Cloth * Quick Setup Guide On the front, the phone features a mirror like screen (which is a fingerprint magnet) that displays the time and date as well as any incoming calls. A headphone port is on the left side of the phone. Volume rocker and camera buttons are on the right side of the phone as well as the USB-C charging port. With the phone fully charged and powered up you'll noticed that the inside has a flat-style buttons, almost too flat for my big fingers (hence, the reason it's not for me). Upon closer inspection I noticed that the keypad has little backlit icons of palm trees, hearts, flamingoes and the iconic B for Barbie. Once you've chosen a carrier you wanna go with simply, pop the SIM card in its slot under the battery and you should be good to go once its registered to its correct network. Under the battery is also a slot for the microSD card up to 32GB. We tested it out and used it some to get it setup for my niece on Christmas Day and to our surprise, its a pretty decent phone. Call quality was clear and it has the cutest little ringtones that girls will love. My niece absolutely loved opening this phone on Christmas Day. For the price, this is a great starter phone for little girls who love Barbie and the color pink and all of the included accessories.

    A fun phone with shortcomings

So, this is a basic flip phone with a lot of Barbie branding. If you know that going in you'll be fine. If you're expecting a halfway decent phone, that is. If you're looking for extra features, you'll be dissappointed. There's a fun aspect here that I think is appealing to a lot of people with specific use cases. For me, we had been wanting to get my daughter (who's 8) a phone for when she starts doing more activities on her own. For this usage, it's great. When you unbox the nicely wrapped pink box, you're greeted with the standard fare: charging cable (thankfully you get USB C here), some interesting Barbie accessories, the phone itself, and a screen/mirror wiping cloth. Setting the phone up was straightforward. Take out the battery, throw a SIM card in (there's also MicroSD storage expansion), and you're good to go. The phone uses KaiOS software, which I was unfamiliar with prior to my time with the Barbie phone. It's a bit sluggish and not super responsive, but that doesn't really matter. You are able to tweak the phone's setting in the menu system, which I like. There's WiFi calling, settings to restrict certain access or calling capabilites, etc. The barebones is here, with some other little things that make it an attractive option for those searching for a small, first phone. There are some programmable games to download, and enough functionality that you could get by using this as a daily phone, but you probably wouldn't want to. There's no Bluetooth, which is a bummer. There's no 5G, just 4G LTE. The build quality itself seems lacking. I know it's a bottom-tier type phone, but the plastic seems very soft and fragile, and the mirror on the front smudges super easily. The hinge seems ok enough, and it's fairly lightweight too. Battery life seems decent, thankfully. You can decorate the phone and lanyard portion with the included accessories, which my daughter had a blast doing. All this said, this is a fun phone with shortcomings. But, it's not aimed at being a daily driver phone for most users, and if you approach it from that standpoint I think you'll enjoy it.

I was so excited to get the Barbie phone, and honestly, it hasn’t disappointed! As a huge fan of novelty tech, this one caught my eye. First off, let me say this phone is super cute. It comes in a jewelry box-style package with adorable accessories like a phone chain, charms, and stickers. The little touches are what really makes this great. when you turn it on for the first time, it says you missed a call from Ken and asks if you want to add him to your contacts. The phone itself is very minimalist. It’s smaller and lighter than your typical phone, with fewer apps. That’s not a complaint, though, it’s got the essentials like messaging, contacts, a calendar, and even Opera for web browsing. There’s also a meditation app (basically a timer with a chime) and some self-care tips, which I think are a cute touch. Speaking of self-care, I even got an automated message reminding me to reach out to friends, which made me smile! One funny thing is the keyboard letters are in cursive. It’s not hard to read, but it feels so random. The phone only has one game, “Malibu Snake,” but let’s be real—no one’s buying this phone for gaming. The camera is basic but lets you add Barbie-themed frames to your pics, which is fun for silly moments. Now let’s talk about the little extras that make this phone magical: there are Easter eggs hidden in the settings! If you type #227243 (which spells Barbie), you unlock bonus wallpapers. You can also type *#Malibu# or *#Ken# to unlock more fun stuff. I even found hidden features tied to specific dates like 1959 and 1992. The ringtone selection, let’s just say they’re “interesting.” They sound like off-key synths, and the names are hilarious, It’s so bad it’s good. Overall, I love this phone. The aesthetic and uniqueness make it worth it to me. A great gift if youre into novelty tech or if youre really into Barbie!

his might just be the ultimate present for the right person. I got this for my daughter for Christmas, it's her first cell phone, and it's a huge hit. Make no mistake, this is a flip phone like we had 15 years ago. With the exception of an MP3 player, really no smart features. It has just a few games on it, like Snake, but nothing major. The only downside to this phone, is that I wish it had a better quality camera. It has a 5 megapixel camera with a flash, but I would love for my kid to be able to capture memories in full clarity. It also comes with extra cases and tons of stickers and gemstones to bedazzle the phone with. Additionally, the outside of. The case can work as a mirror, which is great. The other feature that I was worried would be overlooked is the charging cable. This phone uses USBC, unlike any other old flip phones you might find, which make this easily fit in to your current charging environment in your house without having to make any changes. If you are looking for a phone with limited functionality to reduce distractions and social media influence, this is definitely the gift for you!
