I was skeptical of the HMD Vibe cell phone since I’ve never heard of HMD before. When it arrived the box is just as professional and classy as any big label “flagship” phone packaging I’ve seen and when I opened it I was even more impressed to find it comes with both a charging cable and the AC Adapter which is more than I could say for my last “flagship” phone I purchased. I plugged it in and charged it up then went through the process of activating it with my off brand cell plan (plugged in the Nano Sim and followed the process online). Once the phone was up and running I found it to be a solid budget phone which some savvy tech people will never mistake for your Samsung or Apple but maybe your less savvy mom or little brother will.
You’re looking at a pretty standard bar phone with glass to the edge of the phone and a “Polycarbonate” frame and rear, 6.5” corner to corner with “toughened glass” 1612x720 resolution. The back corner has a 13MP camera with LED Flash while the front of the phone has the usual top center circle for a 5MP selfie camera and storage is 128GB but it does allow for microSD cards up to 512GB. The expandable memory was something I thought was a thing of the past given recent phones I’ve owned but another thing HMD Vibe does that the more expensive cousin devices do not is offer a headphone jack. Maybe that’s not something people use anymore but I always thought it was such a cheap feature as to seem petty leaving out (I am old school though).
Battery life seems decent, I was able to get most of a day of moderate use out before having to charge back up. It's very light weight but it didn’t shatter when I dropped it off my nightstand trying to turn off the alarm (not that I expected it would given the short distance but you never know). I really enjoy the small form factor since I need to keep my phone in my pocket at work all day long for messaging and photos, it fits well in my work pants pocket and doesn't pull on that side. The camera is fair, if you take a picture in less than optimal lighting it will automatically correct the photo to lessen blur, or just sharpen the details. It's not the best camera you’ve ever seen but what it does is great for basic phone usage, although I wouldn’t want to rely on it for night shots or fast moving action shots.
Really with cell phones the make or break for me is the battery and the camera. Battery life now is OK but like every other phone the battery life decreases with time. Plus you can’t replace the battery yourself without a lot of hassle anymore so you’re looking at using this as a disposable option and there’s no way to test longevity that I know of. The camera too is serviceable and actually pretty good for a budget option but you’re missing out on a lot by limiting to 15MP, even with the built in AI tools for sharpening and brightening pictures automatically. You can do a lot worse than the HMD Vibe but there’s plenty of room to do better depending what you want to do with it and how much you’re willing to pay. I’ll be passing this down to my teenager as a test of their responsibility before investing in something more substantial. Your mileage may vary, obviously, but you’re going to be fine if you buy this phone.

Totally Useless... supposed to work on all major carriers... and many prepaid services...
The store employees said this would work on Visible because Visible is a Verizon service.
I got this phone and used it for almost 3 weeks on Visible... now, Visible says it is not compatible and I must remove it or have my service terminated. Also, they now list it as "ODI Device" when it originally appeared on my account as "HMD Vibe TA-1590".
I went to Verizon and checked compatibility... it shows up there, in my shopping car, after I enter the IMEI as "ODI Device HMD Vibe". After talking with Verizon customer service, they say it is not compatible. I have not yet found out what "ODI Device" means. Neither Visible or Verizon customer service would let me in on the meaning of it.

First things first. Get the phone to its best performance you can get. After going through the initial setup. Check for an OS update. Look under Settings | System | System Update. After the update completes and you have rebooted. Go into Settings | Memory | Memory Extension and set to 4 GB. After this reboot, the phone will perform much better, especially apps like the more popular AR games and general time wasters. The ones I have tested (Pokemon Go, Monopoly Go, ...) work much better after performing the above. Prior to that they were laggy and poor responding. After the changes they are very playable with little to no stuttering.
The memory extension basically creates virtual memory using the phone storage, much like a PC has paging or swap space. It uses the storage as a memory location. Extending the memory out to 10GB (6+4) makes this phone very snappy. Even games like Marvel Strike Force are very playable. Amazingly playable actually, as I have seen a few phones just bog down with this game.
The phone has a headphone jack, USB type C, it also has micro SD card storage in the same tray as the SIM.
I can verify that it works well with T-Mobile in my area. Reception and call quality are quite good.
After the OS update, speed tests over Wi-Fi improved considerably. It looks like the shipped build was not the most stable.
The screen is very good quality. Images are sharp and colors are very true. The refresh rate is great.
The battery is listed as 4000 mAh. That should get you through a day without much issue. A lot depends on what you are doing. Charging speeds are decent, no fast charging nor anything wonderful like that. They have a battery saver and battery protection build into the system under Settings | Battery
The camera is where this phone is lacking. It does OK, but it is not going to knock your socks off. it is 13 MP and the zoom only goes to 4x. Images are tolerable, but not very crisp in lower indoor lighting.
Overall I am quite surprised by this phone. Before the updates and playing with it, my low expectations were met. But after updates and adding the memory, this phone is remarkably good outside of the camera. The camera is mid enough that I dropped a star. Just know you are not getting a flagship device, and temper your expectations a bit and you will be pleasantly surprised. Performance wise it can stand its own. The camera...already railed there enough.

HMD is the company behind Nokia phones. While the handsets are manufactured in China like many other phones, the main and design offices are near the original Nokia offices. It appears that HMD is phasing out the Nokia brand for their phones, so this is one of their first HMD branded phones.
The Vibe phones have very different specs depending of where it's sold. This is one of their top specs for their budget line, so be aware that you might not get the same phone elsewhere.
The main differences are in CPU, RAM and storage. This model has a Qualcomm Snapdragon 680, 6 GB of RAM and 128 GB of storage.
The OS is a very vanilla Android 14, and all the apps are stock Android. It also comes with a few 'extra' apps that can be either deleted or Disabled (Facebook is the only app I could not delete but was able to disable it, since this is not my primary phone).
The phone itself is very light and thin. The back cover has a nice texture that doesn't hold fingerprints. The front is all screen with a pinhole for the front camera. Screen is bright and crisp.
The back has two cameras and it works great on low light. For a budget phone I think the cameras are excellent for what the phone is.
The top left side has a SIM tray that holds a single SIM card and MicroSD.
As for cellular network, it supports a single line and only SIM cards. I wish it would also support eSIM which makes it a sinch to find affordable service while traveling, but this doesn't support it.
Also it doesn't support 5G, only 4G. Where I live, 4G is solid with decent speeds, so I don't feel like I miss anything. Normal browsing and videos work just fine and fast.
Also it doesn't support wireless charging and doesn't support NFC, so can't use it to tap to pay at stores nor public transit.
The lack of 2nd line support, eSIM and NFC makes it hard to recommend as a travel phone, but I like everything else about this inexpensive phone.
It's fast, nice screen, and 6 GB of RAM makes a huge difference when browsing heavy web pages and some apps. 128 GB storage is enough for me, and with up to 512 GB on an additional SSD no need to spend more money on internal storage, and with a standard Android 14 OS, things just work. Messages work with RCS. Wi-Fi at home is stable.
Battery is great, lasts the whole day and more, and being so light and thin is fantastic.

The HMD Vibe 128GB is a budget-friendly smartphone that offers decent performance and ability for its price. Here's a simple pros and cons collection of the good and the bad of this phone.
Pros:
It's a very budget-friendly option, making it accessible to those on a tight budget. One of its standout features is the impressive battery life, allowing for extended usage without frequent charging. The phone out last my pixel 8 pro by 45 minutes. Doing pretty much the exact same thing. That was pretty cool. The 90Hz refresh rate provides a smooth and responsive user experience. I downloaded a few games and it held up. I do like that the phone has adequate storage. At 128GB of storage offers ample space for a few apps, photos, and videos. Not many but enough.
Cons:
The camera performance is average, particularly in low-light conditions not built for pictures of the Moon but you can tell what the picture is. I have a shared library on Google pictures. It's pretty easy to tell between this phone and my Pixel 8 Pro. The build quality may not be as premium as more expensive phones but definitely a solid phone. I'm not disappointed.
To conclude the HMD Vibe is a solid choice for budget-conscious users who prioritize long battery life and smooth performance. While the camera quality may not be its strongest point, it's a decent option for everyday use and basic photography needs. I recommend it for a basic phone user. Like my elderly parents.

Looking for an inexpensive phone with all the components included that is unlocked and can be used with all carriers, the HDM Vibe should be on top of your list to consider.
In the box, you can find the phone, the charger, the power cord with USB-A to USC cable, and the pin to introduce the SIM card. The HDM requires a nano SIM (like most of the new devices) and has a second slot for a micro SD card.
After fully charging the device, the regular Android setup is running, no surprise here. Be aware that if you plan to transfer data from a different phone, I recommend doing it with a hard copy in the cloud probably with your Gmail account. Otherwise, you could need a USB-C to USB-C cable to connect both devices.
The connectivity with my ATT carrier was quick, however, note that this device works with 4G (and not 5G), so probably this will not be my primary device. The SETUP in my case was done at home with the WIFI so I noted it as quite fast.
Great 6.5-inch screen with plenty of colors in a 1520x720 resolution. A more than average snapdragon 680 processor, plenty of speed for all your apps. The phone carries two cameras, a frontal with 5 mp and a rear with 13 mp, and two lenses that will do perfectly for the pictures in good light. The front camera works well for facial recognition.
With a good battery life, that can keep regular operation for more than a day, note that the device supports fast charging but not wireless charging.
The phone is light and seems to be resistant in case of dropping. However, the limited one-year manufacturer guarantee seems a bit low for a device with daily use.
With all of that, this will be my second phone for international trips or the one for the kid as soon as he turns the age of having one.
I recommend it.

So first off ill start by saying if you get this phone its not an Ipone so dont expect Ipone quality and speed. But for the price i was pleasantly supprise how zippy it was opening apps and using the internet and so on. The camera was ok and picure quality was pretty good with the 13 mp camera it's zoom quality was ok but only zoomed out a little bit more than the normal camera. I mean it still zommed out ok but just not what im use to from my iphone. The selfie camera is a 5 mp and thats actually not bad for a selfie camera. The display looked actually very good with a 6.5 inch screen and it's a HD screen with a 90 mgz refresh rate so pretty good and when you are watching videos with the 90 mhz refresh rate its very smooth and if you play games on it smooth as butter. I was pleasantly supprised that the battery life lasted all day easily. I figured they would cut corners for a phone that was just over $100 somewere but they definalty did not with the battery. It has a 4000 MAH size battery and my iphone pro max has a 4323 and the standard iphone 14 has a 3279 so you can see you are getting a lot of juice for just over $100 bucks. It's got some speed to it. It uses a snapdragon 680 and im not sure exactly how they rate those cpu's but i can say from its speed it's pretty fast. So in a nutshell for the price you can't go wrong with this phone. It's actually fast and nice for what you are paying.

upon opening this phone, the first thing I noticed was its thin appearance. It was light, not bulky and heavy which is one thing that is very attractive about this phone. When turning on the phone, and downloading some of the apps I did notice that they browser was pretty fast when I went from one site to another. I did notice that the battery life wasn't exactly two days but more like one and half. I guess this all depends on how often you are using it and how many windows you have open. of course this is going to kill the battery life much quicker. I have to say, for the money they charging for the phone is a great price for those that are on a budget. it comes equipped with a space you can put an USB card and headphone jack. This is not as extravagant as most high quality phones but for the price it's a great buy. This does have a nice camera. 13 MP plus 2 MP on the main camera. The display on the phone is nice and large. If you are in the market for an economical phone, this is a great choice for and adult and kid alike.

I got my new HMD Vibe phone last week once I realized I was going to need a phone with Wi-Fi calling (shocked my current phone didn’t offer that) soon as I am about to move to an area with very poor cell coverage. I don’t use my phone a lot, just a few phone calls and texts and other messages along with searching for answers or passing time with some basic silly app game. I also have been a fan of the l less expensive smart phones usually around 60-100 dollars for several years now. My current phone that I am replacing is a Moto G Stylus 5G and the last phone I used before that was a Moto G Pure. In most areas, this phone is noticeably better than either of those or any other cheaper smart phone I have ever used.
The process of switching over to my new phone was perhaps the easiest experience ever. I’ve switched over to a lot of new phones in my time and I think this was the quickest and maybe only time I had zero issues. Charge it, turn in on, follow on screen prompts, switch sim card and reboot. Once I upgraded I immediately noticed a quicker response to everything. The screen is responsive and has a nice level of haptic feedback. It’s easier to hear on the phone as well. Though there is a weird thing that happens with background noise happening on the other end. Some noises (like my girlfriends dog when it is whining for her attention) is loud and hard to listen to. Other background noises (like her uncle speaking to her) were barely audible. But again, the call itself is much easier to hear. The camera isn’t anything too great, but again we are comparing to other lower end phones and by that standard it holds up ok. Battery life thus far has been in line with what I would expect. It still comes with a charging brick which I appreciate. Somehow I no longer have extras lying around like I used to.
All in all I am very happy with my new phone and consider it solid upgrade. Other than the camera it is a superior device to any of the other cheaper smart phones I have used. If I had a friend who was looking for a new phone in this price range and camera was not a top priority I would strongly recommend it.

This is a difficult product to review, because there's both very good and kind of bad. Overall, this is a very good device *for the price* and great for someone who just needs a basic smartphone (i.e. parent, older relative). But this phone comes with some compromises. Here's my breakdown:
BUILD QUALITY: Meh. Plastic doesn't really feel that durable, and display is mystery glass. Good feel in the hand and weight, though.
CALL QUALITY: 4g only. I had no issues with reception, but check to make sure your carrier is supported. The device doesn't have all the 4g bands that all US carriers use. I live in a big urban area, so I can't speak to how signal reception would be in a rural environment. Calls were clear, or at least as clear as the phone speakers allowed them to be.
PERFORMANCE: This is where this device shines. Very good performance for the price, though make sure you switch to adaptive screen refresh to get rid of screen stutters while scrolling.
DISPLAY: Very good. This isn't even a full HD panel and it looks really nice. Colors are well-represented and vibrant for an LCD panel. Brightness is pretty good, too. Max brightness is almost blinding!
SOUND: Kind of weak. There's one speaker at the bottom that muffles highs and lows when playing audio; everything is compressed into an undifferentiated midrange. No complaints from people about the microphone while on calls, though.
CAMERA: Terrible. Exactly what you should expect from a phone this price. This feels like lens tech from ten years ago.
SOFTWARE: Too much bloatware. You can just ignore the bloatware apps (I didn't try to disable or uninstall them), but there is an annoyingly large amount of them. Otherwise, a pretty good lean Android skin. The phone OS defaults to button controls for those who prefer gesture controls (I assume you can change this in settings).
BATTERY: Meh. 4000 mAh, so not terrible, but not great. This will need to be charged daily.
OVERALL: If you are getting this device as a backup, or for someone who doesn't use a smartphone for much other than light web browsing and social media, then this is a good pick for the price. The performance is very good for the price, and better than you'd get on similarly-priced models with Mediatek chips under the hood. The device is also comfortable to use and hold and handles calls well. Just remember that there is no 5g or NFC support, so no fancy "tap and pay" for owners of this device. You also want to check 4g coverage in your area before buying, as well as the 4g bands your carrier uses.
It's pretty clear HMD went for a device that performs (in terms of speed and software handling) really well for an inexpensive phone, and they hit this target. If you or someone else just needs the basics, then this phone is recommended. If you want something that's a little more robust in the audio department, or a phone that has better coverage, you might want to spend a little more. All in all, very good for the price, and better than other devices at the same price point.
