The Star Elite Stack and Connect 45" Digital Tower Fan is an overall good fan. The fan comes disassembled, but putting it together is rather easy to do.It also comes with a carry bag, which you can take it apart for traveling. After installing all of the pieces together, the fan was much taller than I thought it would be. The fan has an easy to read LDC screen on the front, and control buttons on the top of the unit. It also comes with a remote. There’s an area in the carry handle that’s located near the back of the unit near the top where you can store the remote control. Be sure not to move the unit around with the remote control stored in the slot, because it’s not a very tight fit and could possible fall out. The fan has different levels of fan speeds and various modes. It can push quite a bit of air at its highest speeds. The one downfall of the fan is that it’s a bit noisy at lower speeds. Putting the fan at level one would be great for sleeping at night when you do not want a ton of air blowing on you, but the fan is noisy at that speed. It makes a low pitched rumbling sound, and I also hear a lot of rattling from the housing. I don’t hear the rattling and other sounds when the fan is at a much higher speed. Overall, it’s a good unit. I just with it was a bit quieter at lower speeds.

This is an impressive fan that has a few features I wasn't sure I would use. First, the unit is extremely easy to assemble. There are three sections and a base. Each interlocks easily and there are alignment marks to get things just right. Once together, the footprint is quite small. It could sit it in the corner of a room and not be noticed. And since this unit is designed to be mobile, it has a handy carrying and storage bag. Another feature that is extremely hand is the multi-function remote control. All the functions on the fan unit are also on the remote. The functions on the unit include speed; 1-4, mode, timer and oscillation and of course the main power button. Speed can easily be adjusted in a stepped 1-4 scale. For the record, on 4 it kicks out one heck of a breeze. The modes the unit has include normal, sleep, breeze and power breeze. Couple these with the oscillating function and you can have a breeze in a pretty large room. The oscillations covers about an 80 degree area so everyone in the room can feel the breeze. The operation is quiet other than the noise of the moving air so you could use this in a bedroom at night without issue. I expect that I will take advantage of its portability and use this on the deck during the summer.

When I unboxed this I noticed there was a bag inside which I thought was different. I followed the direction's and a few twists and it was connected and working. When I turned it on the beep was kind of annoying but I was able to quickly mute that and the remote allowed navigation of oscillating on/off and the different modes like sleep, natural, auto. At first I thought this is a nice tall tower fan. After using for a few nights. I can hear the fan db’s louder than others at all speeds. This is annoying because it is not a consistant buzz but more like something is struggling with the fan. It is hard to sleep since it is pretty noisy. Beyond that the fan pushes enough air to cool my bedroom and the timer worked as advertised. I did take it apart and load it in the included bag but unless your taking a road trip I am unsure where the value is with such a large fan. This would not be airline friendly. In summary if your nit bothered by a slightly loud fan and the price works then go for it. Otherwise there may be quieter options.

The heat is on so I needed a new fan in the workout room. Instead of box fan, this time I'm using the Star Elite Stack and Connect to lower the volume on the cooling. This tower fan delivers! I keep in on one and set the timer for two hours so that it cuts off if I forget to turn it off on my own. Anything higher than one is just a little too much cool down between sets. The blower seems to be the same as the smaller models, but it has a taller base to reach over higher obstacles. It would make a great fan to blow over a bed at night for hot sleepers...I've seen my daughter eyeball the fan a few times and I'm sure she'll be confiscating my fan anytime now, lol. The remote does just about every function you can with the buttons on unit but I haven't had a real reason to use the remote more than I use the face buttons. The base is wide enough to keep it upright if you bump it by accident, but it won't hold up to a good push. I've knocked it a few times and haven't tipped it over yet. It's great fan with all the features I need to keep me cool during a good workout.

    Powerful, quite, tower fan

This is the first tower fan I've owned. Like most people I'm accustomed to standing floor fans. I've seen the expensive "bladeless" tower fan models and have never been impressed with either the noise or air output. I picked this up because one of our old fans finally bit the dust and figured, why not. So how is it? Out of the box the fan comes in 4 separate pieces: the base and three tower segments. The bottom section screws into the base and contains the power supply, the middle bit (the longest) contains the actual fan itself, and top is the control panel. Assembly was super easy, maybe 5 minutes tops, but my instructions were kind of unclear. They kept referring to multiple retention screws, but in my model there was only one included which is used to secure the power supply (bottom segment) to the base. Everything else clicks together, and unlocks via a little button - just push and twist and they come apart. The locking mechanism seems solid, everything holds together quite nicely. I was a bit worried about the fact that the weight isn't equally distributed along the tower. It's weighted most heavily towards the middle and top sections so I was worried it would topple. Seems steady enough, even with a hyper dog running into from time to time so no worries there. Once it was all together I powered it on with the included remote and wow. It's great. On the lowest setting it's nearly inaudible while still pumping out a stream of air that can easily circulate the air in a modestly sized room. On higher settings it does get loud, but no louder than my traditional standing fan. I have to use the "power" mode on this in order to get it to be anywhere near as loud as my traditional fans, and it's still not as loud. So yeah, very impressed with the volume of operation on this. There are other features like a sleep mode and such that I don't ever plan on using, but it's nice to know they're there. I'd rather have it and not need it than need it and not have it as they say. Not sure what else to say. Build quality feels solid on what is a mostly plastic product. It feels premium in a way I wasn't expecting. Not that cheap flimsy plastic, definitely a higher density/quality. One problem I foresee here is cleaning the fan. You can wipe the blades where the air comes out, but there's no way to get to the actual spinning bit that does all of the work. That's trapped inside the housing and there's no way to get to it without voiding your warranty. Shame that, but we'll see how it holds up over time. Dust accumulation may be a problem. It comes with a storage bag, which is nice I guess if you store your fans during the winter. I don't so that's just another thing I have to store somewhere. It's a great fan. Does exactly what I want it to do. Love the power and low operating volume. The remote has increased my laziness, which is always a plus. I'm using this one in the living room, but I think I may grab another one for the bedroom. It's that good.

Powerful fan that utilizes a small space

I have never owned a tower fan before, so I didn't know what to expect when it came to noise, air distribution, space needed and coverage for the air. I have been extremely impressed with how well this distributes air. I am using it in a typical den, with the fan back approximately six feet from my desk. With the vents appearing higher on the towner, I wasn't sure if it could cover lower areas of my room or not. It does cover a great deal of space very well. I can feel it on my legs as well as my face and the power is perfect. It isn't too strong, but it's strong enough to cool my office easily. The remote is such a nice addition to this product. I can turn it on, off, change the speeds, force it to oscillate or stop, change modes and set a timer to turn it off after a defined period of time. I expected this to take much more space than it actually takes. The tower is tall and slender, so it fits nicely without consuming a lot of real estate. The fan is fairly quite compared to conventional oscillating models and I am able to have it running in the background while attending online meetings. The fan comes with a handy carrying case as well, making storage neat and tidy. Overall, this is a great product and I will purchase additional models.

    Noise levels are simply amazing

I wanted to upload a video with the basics of this text to demonstrate the noise levels, but Best Buy doesn't allow video reviews. Being a Dyson enthusiast, I knew this had an uphill battle ahead of it. I have multiple Dyson fans, and I've tried just about every other model of tower fans out there, and none ever worked as well for me as the Dysons. This one, however, likely just became my main fan in my great room, where I spend most of my time, and the Dyson will end up somewhere else. For me, it's the noise level. This has a RIDICULOUSLY low noise level even at high speeds. FAR quieter than the Dysons were. It reaches 10 or 12 feet to my couch just fine even on low, doesn't feel like it's producing any real buffeting at even high speeds. And again, it's just so quiet on any speed. On the highest setting, it's about as loud as the Dyson is at the mid speed range. When this thing is anywhere on the bottom half of the "normal" range (1-4) you can't even hear it over most of the ambient noise in the house, and up to 3 it's still drowned out here by just having the TV on. It took me 2 weeks to get support to get me one that worked, as my first one out of the gate was broken. Fan worked, oscillation did not. And the process was frustrating - they require, in order to open a ticket, the make, model, and serial number. Then after you open the ticket, they start asking in the emails that eventually follow for the SAME INFO again. Since I'm in the IT field (CTO of an IT consulting company) this is a real pet peeve of mine. Then on top of all THAT they demand a photo of the tag on the back and of the fan itself, which really negated the need for the initial data entry for the ticket, and the subsequent requests for the same info AGAIN. They should just ask for the photo in the initial contact then. Eventually though the red tape was parted and a replacement sent. It ships in a pretty small box since it is broken into three parts for the tower, and the base. Assembling it is as simple as putting the piece on top of another piece, and rotating. No plugs to connect inside like some multi-piece lamps and other electronic devices. Those are totally hidden within the plastic housing. It even comes with a bag to keep everything together if you break it down to move it somewhere (or as I would around here, store it over the winter). Not as visually appealing as a Dyson, but for the noise level I can handle something clunkier looking. There is NOTHING to complain about as far as air flow and noise here - the product itself performs great. The company and support is a bit less stellar.

I live in an area with very, very high temperatures (well above 100 in summer) which requires having all types of fans around the house in order for the cool air from the AC to circulate better. This being said, I was hoping that this "stack and connect" fan would push some air around the room. And it does. The package contains the different parts of the fan, a remote, manual, warranty and a bag for storage (or to take it along somewhere). Assembly is easy, you just stack and turn until you hear a soft click. This takes no more than a couple of minutes and you're good to go. The fan itself is as tall as 45" and doesn't take much room. It offers many options such as fan speed, a quiet setting, oscillation and a timer. The remote allows control of the fan from an acceptable distance. Now, my other fans can almost push air like a tornado. This fan isn't as powerful, it does produce a strong-ish airflow on maximum setting, but it falls short compared to another tower fan I own. It will accommodate a small to medium sized room at best, but nothing above that. The night option renders the fan almost entirely quiet. I was skeptical about the usefulness of a fan that can be disassembled, but upon reflection, it's really a great idea, as you can quickly take it apart and store it in the bag, which in turn can be stored in a closet until the next time you need it. It's a simple but really useful option. I would recommend this fan for people who need some decent airflow in a mid-sized room. The dis-assembly will also be very convenient if you're short on storage space. Very nice product.

The Holmes 45" Digital Tower fan is a slender, well-designed fan that does a great job moving air! The 45" height provides an ample surface area for air movement and looks stylish while doing its job. It's so much more attractive than a "bulky" fan. Includes a built-in handle to make it easy to move from one room to another. It has four modes - normal, breeze, sleep, and power breeze - and four speed settings to move air effectively even at the lowest settings. Turn it to Power breeze to really step things up and "cool" an area quickly. The oscillation feature works smoothly and quietly, and rotates up to 80 degrees to cover an entire room! The timer button allows you to choose a length of time - one, two, four, or eight hours - to run the fan before it automatically shuts off. It even has a mute button to silence the beep that accompanies setting changes. The large, easy-to read LED display has a soft blue glow and is large enough to see from across the room. The greatest feature though is that it can be disassembled in minutes to store when not in use, and includes a travel/storage bag. We've taken a fan with us on overnight trips for years to keep air moving in hotel rooms, but this fan makes it truly easy! Disassembles in minutes and goes back together just as easily. Overall a great fan - quiet, efficient, and stylish!
