I use google every day. This just seemed like a really good way to get into home automation and simplify some everyday tasks. I can't wait to see what comes next.

nice toy. Still use Amazon's Echo more

As much as I like the Google Home, I use my Echo (and Echo Dot) more. I had a dot, and I bought the Google Home to compare the two before I bought additional units. I fully expect both to build out in the next few years and wanted to understand the differences. Echo does everything Google Home does and more. Home sounds like it has a more full sound when playing music, but I have more music on playlists inside the Amazon system, which plays on Echo and not G. Home. Home can read my calendar and tasks, but struggles adding tasks and (currently) cannot add to my calendar. Echo adds to both. Echo turns lights off and on with the switch I have. Google doesn't. Maybe it will catch up in the next 6 months, but so far, Amazon's devices are far in the lead.

I'm not sure why we waited so long to get one, but now that we do, its such a great thing to have. We now have a mini and we are able to pump music across the entire home from one phone. We are making our home as smart as possible.

Love it more than I expected.again set up was very easy. I did have a few minor problems but they were all related to lack there of strength and my network. Once I corrected that it has worked beautifully. The speaker quality is excellent. And I enjoy using it.

Hey Google! What should I say in this review? I ask Google Home almost everything. I play music on it.The speaker is incredible. It answers my questions, gives me my daily schedule, as well as weather and traffic. Go ahead and get it, you know you want it.

I have two of the, one in the living room and one in the bedroom. Just ask for the weather, travel times, check on restaurants, etc...and Google will take care of it. If you just want to relax and listen to music, ask Google to play sommething.

Purchased this for my father who loves alone. If he wants to know something, he says it and gets an answer. For his birthday next month I plan to buy some home intergration components which will probably bring my review to five stars. Great sound from such a small device.

Google Home has it all. An information resource for facts, music, news, phone directory, pod casts and so so so much more. It's built in speaker is deep and powerful. You can all change out the base cover for color coordination. User friendly and easy set-up.

purchased for someone not so tech savvy. Easy setup and really good price. I was amazed at how well it heard the command "Ok Google" through room noise. you can yell at this thing from just about anywhere and it will hear you. even if music is playing loudly it hears you.

Would recommend - but this is not for me

I would definitely recommend this product especially if you (i) already operate in Google eco-system (i.e. have an Android phone, Chromecast, etc. (ii) use Google services frequently, and are open to everything being routed & indexed through Google. In my case point (i) was not applicable and point (ii) required me to shift away what I already use (i.e. shift my calendar to Google, emails through GMail only, Lists with Google only, etc.). That's not for me! Audio is pretty impressive. At the outset liked the volume range and the depth of the sound (speech and music). It didn't always get my spoken commands but not surprising. The iOS smartphone app is very basic and didn't impress me much. All in all a recommended product given its backed by the world's largest search engine and that repository is only increasing everyday along with it's AI capability ... I so wanted to like & retain this product ...

SO far I've really enjoyed the Google Home. Being able to walk in and just ask it to start playing music is awesome. I also got a Chromecast Audio, so I can have the same song play to multiple parts of the house for parties and such. I highly recommend it.

    Debating Home vs Echo?

I have both. I would go with Home. Already have started to catch up with all the compatible devices like the Echo. Let's face it Google>Amazon. Within a year most people are going to want this product as you can tell the Echo goes on sale constantly now.

The good: Virtually unlimited access to music with a premium YouTube Red or Google Play music subscription. Guests love being able to just name a song and have it played. The IFTTT integration is a good start for home-automation, but native WeMo support would be better. The bad: The microphone is pretty spotty. If you have music playing, expect that you may need to shout the activation phrase to get a response. I'm getting maybe a 75% success rate from within 20 feet of the unit when using one of the activation phrases. The phrases ('OK, Google' or 'Hey Google') are a little awkward and not customization. It seems to be triggered at odd times by the TV as well. If you're invested in the Google ecosystem with Android phones or TV, Chromecast etc..., it's a better alternative than Amazon Echo. If not, you may prefer Echo due to the better microphone, Amazon Prime integration and more extensive collection of 3rd party add-ons.

We recommend the Google Home. We placed it on our kitchen counter. We use it several times a day for music and for other information. We add things to our Google Keep shopping lists. We also use the Google Home to control, by voice, our three Nest Thermostats.
