Cool gadget that is calming and unique. The only downside it is a bit expensive and the Bluetooth should automatically connect instead of having to manually connect even though it’s already paired to the phone.

Bought one of these about a year and a half ago. My wife absolutely loves it. But for 500.00 you would think it would be more robust. I tried to exchange it at Best Buy with my Best Buy plus membership just over 1 year but apparently I bought that after I bought this which would have given me two years instead of 1 to return it, Homemedics was like sorry it is out of warranty.

I did not know what to expect when I ordered the HoMedics Drift Meditation Sand Table. I was intrigued by it conceptually, but was not sure whether it would be something that I would use on a regular basis. But after a few days, I can truly say that it has won us over and earned a prominent place in our home. My significant other has even commented a few times about how much she loves it. Watching the sphere move around the table as it creates patterns is both relaxing and fascinating at the same time. It almost seems impossible at first, but this wondrous device precisely draws sand art right in front of your eyes. Sitting in front of it while it works has become a normal routine for us. The patterns take about 15-30 minutes to create but even if you don’t have the time to sit and watch it work, it is just as enjoyable for me to select a design and come back later to see how it looks. There are over 100 designs to choose from, and I hope that more are added in the future. Though it is described as a mediation table, I consider it to be tha and much, much more. The high-end, attractive design also qualifies it as a decorative piece that will look great in any room it is used in. This model is quite large and heavy so get the smaller 16 inch version if that will fit your living pace better. We like it so much that it lives in our family room. The nearly infinite control that the App provides over the LED lighting hue and pattern makes the table and surrounding area look so nice. Setup was straightforward and did not require much effort. An important first step is to download the Drift App. Creating an account is not required but an initial product registration is required to use the App. The table can be controlled by the buttons on the table, but not using the App will rob you of the full functionality and enjoyment you can achieve from it. Within the App is the capability to control the lighting, create a schedule, create and use playlists, and to control the speed of the sphere. The box contained 2 small bags of sand and the instructions were not clear on whether both should be added, so I added them both as one bag did not seem to be enough. This was not the right choice though because the metal sphere frequently got stuck. Once I removed some sand the sphere operation was flawless. If you ever need more sand, HoMedics advises that only a certain type of fine sand is compatible, and recommends that it be ordered directly from them. If you find my description appealing, then I give the HoMedics - Drift Meditation Sand Table an enthusiastic recommendation. Yes it is expensive , but the premium design and performance have added so much enjoyment and relaxation potential to my life, that I consider it well worth the admittedly high cost.

My husband bought this for me for my birthday now I wouldn’t say I was super excited when I opened it because seriously a sand table what’s exciting about that ? But I love it it really does my for a fun different conversation piece !!!

I love to sit and watch the designs as that little ball works it’s magic. I am OCD and i have to say this is very satisfying seeing the precision in the levels of sand and distance ect of every design. I sat and watched it for quite a while after first setting it up and kept thinking i want to take a nap. I also have issues with anxiety so this is great when i am feeling anxiuos. I would love to have another one to put in my office!

This product can make amazing patterns, and the light makes you very calm. But the App needs to update, some patterns are deficient. Overall, I'm very happy with it.

This is one of the coolest items we own. It's incredibly hypnotizing and the amount of designs it can do is almost infinite.

I really wasn’t sure how I was going to feel about this sand table. I was intrigued by the concept of it, but the price seemed a bit extravagant for what it was. After using it for a couple of weeks I have to say I’m surprised by how enamored I am with this thing. It really is mesmerizing and it’s a beautiful piece of decor. I’m still not sure it’s worth the high price tag and I wish the lighting had smart connectivity, but it’s a very unique piece of decor. I thought the unboxing and setup experience would be a bit daunting, but overall it was pretty simple. In the box you get the table, a glass cover, the sand, a rake, a power adapter, and the metal ball. The instructions say to empty the sand out of their packets and spread them around the bowl as evenly as possible, but not to worry about getting it perfect. I of course did worry about getting it perfect and the amount of sand seemed like it wasn’t enough for the bowl, but I can tell you now that it absolutely is enough and it does not have to be perfectly spread around the bowl; the metal ball naturally pushes the sand into an even position after the first run. The table has built-in RGB lighting and has a clean and modern look that would look just as much at home on the USS Enterprise as it does in my home. I’m now on the hunt for the best stand for it and I know there’s a lot of options out there, but I sort of wish HoMedics offered some kind of stand that fits the curvature of the bowl. There are two buttons on the bowl itself for power and lighting, but most of the actual control is through the app, which connects to the bowl via Bluetooth. The app is well designed and offers a lot of functionality in terms of setting the speed of the ball, ‘playlists’ for patterns, scheduling, and lighting scenes, but that functionality is strictly limited to the interaction between your phone and the table while they are connected via Bluetooth. I wish the table had WiFi connectivity and even more so I wish I had the ability to integrate the lighting functionality with my other smart lighting via Google Home. It feels like a whiff for something this expensive to not include that for such an expensive device. Getting the table set and placed, I started running some patterns. The app has a ton to select from and I swear I could watch this thing for hours. It’s just that enthralling to me. The ball is controlled magnetically and pushes lines into the sand as it travels around the bowl. The patterns are really impressive and quite intricate. It’s pretty cool to see it all come together and the RGB lighting adds a cool accent without turning the table into a lamp. Overall I’m happy with the drift table. It’s a really unique item and and it sparks a lot of fun conversations. I do think it’s too expensive though, especially since it lacks the smart functionality to really make it a part of my decor. If you’re considering this I’d recommend looking at the 16” version as it’s plenty large enough.

Really cool product, everyone comments on how unique, great center piece in a living room. Only reason I gave 4 stars is the base is made of a plastic on the thinner side, you wouldn't even know unless going to move it though.

This an amazing conversation item and peaceful to watch. Amazes guests and yourself with all the patterns and light combinations. This was a great value price when purchased on sale. Must have for the person who has everything, but not this yet! Amazing wonder.

It’s nice but disappointing that it’s plastic bowl and not ceramic bowl.

Didn’t think it would be such a hit. The kids love it.

In the post/mid covid world, or whatever we're calling these times, self care seems to be more normalized than ever before. The Homedics sand table I feel falls right in the middle of those luxury products that you might consider essential to your self care. The 21-inch sand table is big. Larger than you might expect. I haven't measured it but I think the 21-inch dimension is the actual sand surface, and not the outside dimensions of the entire table, which is a welcome thing! Just be aware when you plan for where you're going to put this thing. Setup was exceedingly easy and the download and pairing with the app also went smoothly. I found the preset colors of the system to be a little jarring, and not "quite" calming, but I did also quickly discover that those are customizable. If I have any complaints about this product, there are 2, and they speak directly to the "meditation" part of this device. The steel ball bearing that makes the patterns in the sand while being dragged by the internal magnet, can be a little noisy. The depth of the sand layer is shockingly thin, and the sand is layered over a fabric surface. I believe the noise to be friction between the ball and the fabric. There might be some remedy for this by cleaning or shifting the sand around, I have not tried yet. The other issue I have with this is sort of fundamental, and strongly affects where you will be able to place the meditation table, and that is the power setup. I don't know if something like this is even feasible with battery power, but I did find myself wanting to put it down farther, like on a coffee table, and forgetting that I had to have it plugged in. There is the traditional wall wart and power cord leading to the device to power it up. Not expected, and appreciated in the design is the glass cover that keeps my kids, dog, and sometimes me from messing with the ball in motion, or the patterns in the table itself. The app is fairly easy to use, and has lots of downloadable patterns and light schemes. Your phone also doesn't need to be continually connected to the device, but it does need to upload the entire design to the table.
