We live in an area that typically has very low humidity, so we decided to get a humidifier. We have friends who have had various brands/models and said they helped a lot. This particular model is the large version, it also comes in a smaller version, in case you want to use it in a smaller room.
The HoMedics Ultrasonic Humidifier (large) looks nice and doesn't take up a lot of space (small footprint). You probably wouldn't want to put it in a high-traffic area, since it's tall and thin, might get knocked over by kids and/or pets.
I like that to add water it's a top-filling tank. Other humidifiers I've seen can be very complicated to fill. With this one just remove the tank cover, exposing the tank. Fill it with water (up to 1.4 gallons) and depending on your usage and settings, it can last up to 70 hours. It does have an auto-shutoff if the tank is empty. You can also set the timer to shut it off after 4, 8 or 12 hours.
You can set the humidifier to run continuously or set the humidity level in 5% increments from 35 to 55 percent. If you set a humidity level, the humidifier will shut off when the humidity in the room reaches that level. It will turn back on when the humidity drops 5% below the set level.
There is a tray in the bottom of the humidifier to add essential oils, if you choose to. They caution not to add any oils or other additives into the water tank, only the oil tray. Pads are included to put the oils on, which are then put in the tray.
If you have hard water, the humidifier can leave whitish dust on surfaces around the humidifier, which is the remains of the minerals in the water. They include a demineralization capsule, which lasts for 30-40 fills of the tank. You can purchase more capsules from HoMedics or use distilled water instead of tap water.
The humidifier is very quiet and puts out a fine mist when in operation. Because the mist spout is on top of the tank cover, you can choose which direction you want the mist to go by rotating the tank cover.
The unit seems to work quite well, though we were in a rainy period when we got it. I'm sure once our humidity drops back to its normal low, the humidifier will be greatly appreciated.

Quiet with a Large Reservoir

I received my Homedics Ultrasonic Humidifier a few days ago. I have wanted a humidifier for a while now as the air can sometimes get rather dry where I live. I had one many, many years ago and I used it quite a bit until one day it just died. So I was excited about having one back in my life again.
When thinking back to my old device, there are a few major improvements that jump out with this newer design. First off, this thing is very quiet. My old one wasn’t all that loud but you could definitely hear it running. Not this thing, whisper quiet. The reservoir is also quite large at nearly a gallon and a half. You can direct the direction the air is flowing. You can also add lovely scents using essential oils. Improvements all compared to my old humidifier. The controls are basic, but really they contain everything you need. Power, three different misting levels, a timer and a setting to maintain a certain humidity level. You can also dim the lights with a nighttime mode if so desired. Oh and there is a maintenance light to remind you when you should clean it. I haven’t had to do that yet, but it looks very quick and easy to do. I did have a minor issue with my dog wanting to…eat…perhaps fight the mist lol? But she got over that.
All in all I am happy with my new humidifier. It works great and is very easy to maintain. Really the value of this device will come down to how long it lasts. Assuming it’s durable, this is a very solid 5* choice. I am a little leery of its long term durability as I have used a similar tech in foggers and those definitely can have durability issues. But so far so good and it does have a 2 year limited warranty on its parts. So I feel good in giving it 5*s and I would absolutely recommend it to a friend.

When I first received this device I thought it would be smaller than it was, I thought that it wold be able to sit atop a table. This device was large than I expected. This humidifier sits nicely in a corner and does not take up much space at all. The design on this humidifier is very eye catching as it goes with a warm decor. One thing I liked about this device was it came with a demineralizing capsule to ensure that you don’t get the white film on your mirrors and windows. Not only is it eye catching but this device runs smooth and you barely know that it is running which make for a comfortable nights sleep. It has different levels that you can set and they are programmable. It has an automatic shut off that you can program, it has a place where you can put in essential oils, and it has a long run time in terms of hours (around 70 hours). This is a long time. I would suggest cleaning the water frequently to keep the machine running efficiently. This humidifier covers square footage of 426 ft. I love this humidifier because of its efficiency, run time, and programmable setting. The only downside to this device is the unstableness on my carpet. I am assuming because the legs are so shorty otherwise I have no complaints.

My wife and I love this HoMedics Ultrasonic Humidifier in our master bedroom. It has everything that we have also looked for in a humidifier. My wife and I hate waking up in the morning with that dry sensation in our throats, so we have always used a humidifier in our bedroom. In my opinion, this humidifier has it all. It allows us to sleep better at night because it keeps our bedroom nice and moist. I really like the control panel at the base of the humidifier. The digital display with the touch controls allows you to completely program the humidifier to your preferences. My favorite options are the run time and mist settings. I can program the humidifier to run for 4, 8 or 12 hours. I also like the mist settings. Some nights are drier than others and I can adjust how much mist is being produced. It also comes with a handy little night light underneath the humidifier in case you ever get up at night. Another big plus to this HoMedics humidifier is how quiet it is. Our last humidifier would sometimes keep me up at night because of the noise, but this Homedics humidifier is quiet as a mouse. I also like that I don't have to worry about changing a filter on this humidifier. A red light will turn on the control panel to let you know that it is time for a cleaning. I have not had it long enough to have to clean it, but based on the instructions, it seems simply enough. It also comes with 1 demineralization cartridge. Overall, my wife and I just love this HoMedics Ultrasonic Humidifier. If you are in the market for a new humidifier, I would definitely consider this one.

The humidifier was well packaged and was easy to set up and the . You will want to have an idea of where you can place it in the room to maximize vapor dispersal and minimize condensation or water beading on surfaces. It is a top fill, and is pretty high capacity, so you likely want it at a reasonable height for filling without spilling or just fill it a bit at a time.
With the programmable humidity level and a choice of three misting settings it doesn't have to run often. Where we are at, we mostly have it running during the day and it is quiet enough that it isn't really noticeable unless you are right next to it. The night light feature isn't one we use, since we run it on a schedule during daylight, but I imagine it would be useful in a hall or children's room.
The aromatherapy tray was something we tried and liked. You wouldn't want to go light at first to determine how much is enough though. Remote control and automatic shutoff are very nice features so that you don't have to worry about the system running when dry and you can change settings easily.

Making Humidity Stylish

The HoMedics Ultrasonic Humidifier is a modern appearing, stylish take on a room humidifier. My wife was pleasantly surprised at the appearance of this device. Unboxing is simple with the humidifier already being put together there are just 2 additional pieces including a bag of 3 aroma pads and a demineralization cartridge. The outside clear tank cover has 2 stickers on it out of the box – which ended up being my least favorite part of the setup process. When I went to remove the larger sticker there was a decent amount of sticky residue left, which bothers me immensely. I was able to get this removed but not without some headache. So for fellow sticker haters, beware. The humidifier is easy to setup, needing to be filled up with water, plugged in, and turned on/set to desired setting and that is it. There is not mention of preferring or requiring distilled water (which I often use with humidifiers) versus tap. If using tap water, there is the demineralization cartridge available to help avoid causing the mineral dust in the room around the humidifier. Once filled, simply turn to desired setting and plug in desired humidity for the room. The tank fill often lasts about 2 ½-3 days in my child’s room. The humidifier will also alert to when it needs to be cleaned with an indicator light and cleaning is not difficult. Overall, the humidifier does just that – humidifies, while being a stylish addition to the room. As a side note, those aroma pads I mentioned are designed to allow for the addition of essential oils to the bad for diffusion purposes. I have not used this feature yet, but suspect for many the addition of an oil would be an added bonus! Here’s to a little added humidity

HoMedics Ultrasonic Humidifier

So I received my HoMedics Ultrasonic Humidifier about a week ago and have been putting it through its paces. This couldn't have arrived at a better time as we're about to enter summer and we've been having long days of nothing but dryness, which for some like myself can make it very difficult to breathe at times, which not to mention can also lead to a host of other medical problems as well.
First off, the HoMedics R&D team did an amazing job with the design quality of the humidifier. It's very sleek and modern looking that makes it easy to blend in with practically any décor in your home. Along with the humidifier comes: three essential oil pads (with 1 already installed), a demineralization capsule, and the user documentation/instruction manual.
On the front is a display window which shows you which mode you're currently in. The essential oil holder, though not a dealbreaker seemed to be located in the weird spot at back and towards the bottom. It's very easy to access, simply push the holder in and its kinda spring loads back out for easy removal.
To use the humidifier, start off by soaking the demineralization capsule as instructed in water for about 10 minutes. After which, simply take off the other shell of humidifier and either use a picture to fill up the main canister of the humidifier or take and hold it under the faucet until it reaches the fill line which is labeled inside.
Do not pour water or essential oil down in the bottom half of the unit where the canister sits. And do not put any essential oil inside the canister.
Once the canister is filled to the fill line, simply sit it back on the base, and set the front control panel to your liking. I set mine to CO which stands for "continuously on." Depending what mode/speed of which you set the humidifier to, it can last up to 70 hours.
We have enjoyed using the HoMedics Ultrasonic Humidifier in our home and it has helped with the air quality in our home without being so dry. Only small gripe that I may have is the essential oil pad didn't seem to work as much. Didn't really notice the smell of the essential oil being dispersed in the mist. May have to use a stronger essential oil scent. Otherwise, I recommend this to anyone looking for a nice and elegant humidifier.

So I unpacked it and it’s light and looks great so was pretty excited for this thing. The first time that I turned this on, I was amazed. The mist output was awesome, the controls were easy to use, and the humidity in the bedroom increased much better than with an older Homedics model. The next morning I turned it off, and later that night, I turned it on again. It did not work. No mist. I could hear the water, I could hear the motor, it did not work. I took the whole thing apart, which honestly is done best in the bathtub, and not over the sink, because there’s no way to tilt it and empty it without it spilling everywhere from the bottom half. I cleaned it according to the instructions, reassembled, and filled it with more water, what a waste of water, which I had to buy distilled by the way. I turned it on again and it worked. I turned it off, and it stopped working. Every time I get it to work, and then I turn it off, it stops working. There is either very little mist or no mist. All of the settings are as they should be for what I am looking for, I have unplugged, I have taken it apart several times, and rotated through the settings. I have only had this unit for three days, and it’s already a dud.

I've only had it for a couple months and it already broke. Before it broke I would run it and it would randomly turn off and not work half of the time. Not worth the buy, I'm very disappointed
