It is the second week of July and hot weather is predicted, so I opened the box to set-up the unit. Upon reading the instruction and care materials I read, "The Air Cooler cools best in dry climates. If the ambient humidity level is high (60% or above), refrain from using the Air Cooler until ambient humidity is reduced. I live in Southern California which is desert, but somewhat close to the ocean. Right now the humidity is 73%, and heat is predicted this weekend, with this humidity, rendering this unit useless to me. I have exceeded the return date, so I am stuck with this thing. I do not remember reading anything about humidity levels for operation while reading the description on-line.

These also require ample cross ventilation along with dry heat for optimal cooling. This unit will not be able to able to perform to the best of its capabilities in extreme humid weather.

Life saver in hot spells!

I found the deep reservoir to be a blessing as I don't have to fill it but once a day. I find it easiest to run a hose from the faucet to the side inlet. The ice compartment could be bigger but it does make a difference. The unit itself does what it says it will and keeps the room noticeably cooler in a double open floor plan room approximately 500 sq ft.

The pumping system control is not clearly described and/or marked so the user can easily set it for optimal use. The most unfortunate flaw, however, is that it fails to cool as well as expected.
