I bought 2 units and BOTH stop working after 1 hour of use when humidity outside is more than 75%. I have to constantly drain it and run around with buckets of water. Who needs an A/C that does this every hour? And as other reviewers mentioned, installing it into the window takes a long time due to the hose having major flaws in the connections. I should have just returned them instead of trying to make it work. I wouldn’t be surprised if someone will start a class action against the company for putting this product on the market.

Honeywell 12,000 BTU Portable AC does not work

It is very heavy and was difficult for me (middle aged female) to lift it and carry up the steps to my house. I waited several hours after getting it in the house to let the coolant settle before I started to put it together. The set up instructions are a joke. However, any normal, independent adult who works on things themselves, will not have a problem figuring out how to put it together correctly. By the time I had it completely set up and started the unit, it was 83 degrees in the room I purchased it for (under 300 sq ft). Four hours later the temperature in the room had risen to 87 degrees! I went through all the information I could find to trouble shoot this AC unit that was not cooling at all, but blowing/circulating hot air in the room. I had it set to AC Cooling at a temperature of 62 degrees. I never heard the compressor kick on (no change in the sound the unit made). Over and over I re-read the information and kept attempting to trouble shoot, with no success. The AC just does not work. After letting it run, and try, for 48 hours, I turned it off. Later that evening, I felt the back of the unit, after sitting in off position for over an hour, and the back of the unit was very hot. I unplugged it thinking it may be about to catch on fire. I returned it where I purchased it (at Best Buy) after having to lug it back down the steps and lift the heavy thing into my vehicle. I have sense purchased a Whynter ARC-14S 14,000 BTU Dual Hose Portable AC from Amazon. It is absolutely wonderful! I have had it for only five days, and have enjoyed how well it cools! It works the way a portable AC is supposed to work, no issues.

Puts Out the Air and the Noise

I did like the little automated vent that slowly opens and closes. However it seemed like the fans were always on hi. As if the unit could never reach the set temperature for the room. The unit was very noisy compared to my Delonghi Air Conditioner from Costco with whisper quiet.

Its not too loud, it cool my bedroom down in about 45-60 seconds. It runs on a thermostat so you set your temp and this AC will run until it hits that temp. So its like an energy saver but not. I would buy it again i like it so much. I hate loud ACs and was not a big fan of the portables until now. You really can not go wrong with Honeywell. Worth every penny!

Cools a 550sqft space

You just have to figure out your exhaust hose route. I needed to buy a hose extension to get to my high-off-the-ground windows. I also had two 6L pails for the upper drain hose run off. Depending on humidity it fills up pretty quick. Had swap out pails every 45 to 50mins but they weren't filled all the way up.

I purchased it because it was on Wheels and it would be easy for me to move around without assistance. The vent opens automatically when you turn the unit on but does not adjust so it blows straight out without giving any other direction for the airflow. I had to put a stand-alone fan in front of it to help direct the air. You cannot have continuous drainage when you use the AC so you have to constantly drain the water which is difficult because the drain is at the very base of the unit to put to catch the water is difficult you need to raise the unit up to insert a pan to catch the water or roll it outside to drain. It definitely did not work for me. It did not cool the small space that I had. I think it needs to say it is for a much smaller space. I was told I could not return it after using it for 5 days. I am very unhappy with the product and the amount of money that I spent and the need to pick up the unit to drain so often. I would not recommend this product at least for an older person who has back problems.

Poor customer service and product

Condensation in the unit where it shouldn’t be and the unit smells like a burning hair dryer. It’s really inexcusable the poor customer service I’ve received and I expect this product to be exchanged or refunded.

It wasn't up to the task. After just a few hours of use, the unit was running but not cooling. I used a hair dryer to melt two inches of solid ice (not frost) off the fins. After that, I cycled the power off for 15 minutes every hour to allow the frost to melt from the fins. Fortunately, I had also installed a used 5k BTU window AC unit, and it did the better (and sometimes) entire job of keeping the inside of the garage around 72° when it was 110°+ outside, I purchased this unit Out of Box but advertised "like new". I suspect it might be a returned lemon, as it looks like somebody else had previously used an ice pick to chip THEIR ice off the condenser fins. Regardless, I don't recommend purchasing this product new OR used.

Kept cool but drain is not so good.

Kept bedroom nice and cool. Downfall is the drain plug is all the way at the bottom making it difficult to drain I put it up on blocks and made it easier. Would have preferred a tank on the front to drain. Also would be nice if this one had a heat mode so I could use it in the garage in the winter.

The insert for window and tubing connecting unit to window insert is constructed very POORLY. My husband had to construct new window inserts with better connection for tubing to unit and window insert.
