Faulty Dehumidifier

Best Buy would not help to remedy the situation. I will have to work directly with the manufacturer.

Humidistat doesn't work

Unit does not shut off regardless of setting. Currently set at 55. Unit says 56 but my humidistat says room is 49. Same example when setting at 60..... hate to see next electricity bill. Something is wrong Honeywell!

Posted .We are sorry for the inconvenience caused to you because of this dehumidifier. There is a 5% threshold when the desired humidity setting has been reached. The compressor will shut off once the relative humidity is 5% lower than your desired setting. The fan will continue to run for up to 6 minutes to cool the motor and will then shut off. Operation restores once the relative humidity is 5% higher than your desired setting. This may explain why you felt that the unit was running all the time. Didn't remove moisture from the air

Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.**Positive: 1. removes water at specified rate (fan on turbo, ~60F, 65% RH), and a little more than half that with normal fan 2. relatively quiet, seems like as specified (not measured) 3. 5 year warrantee - wow - though cost of shipping wouldn't be pretty **Negative: 1. 10% RH hysteresis is excessive; in fact (for me) runs either non-stop or not at all 2. fan does not work as documented: almost never turns off after compressor stops, goes into turbo mode periodically 3. fan and humidistat bad-design: when fan stops, the location of the humidistat results in high readings after less than 5 min forcing the unit back on; if turned off for a couple hours as high 85-90 RH (area is 55% RH). 4. customer service: they don't understand how the fan works, some just want to process returns, and not solve problems 5. first unit was returned because of water leak, plus customer service lack of understanding, Best Buy did a good job here 6. made in China - likely quality issue, this is NOT intended as racist 7. very very short electric cord, cheap hose **Work-arounds: 1. to combat hysteresis and fan issues, I have it setup on a timer; mfr. verified this does not void warrantee; check electrical rating on timer - this is NOT a simple resistive load

Did I say LOUD? LOUD! And above the DC-10 engine's roar the rattling began...place the machine in another position and the rattling would stop for a day or two. Old Frigidaire unit filling up with drawerful after drawerful of water in contrast to one or two pints by the Honeywell. Waste of money. Waste of spine dragging it in and out. Waste of time...real disappointment.

Good Unit - Careful with Setting

My unit - actual humidity in room is much drier than it is set for and displayed. Set for 50% and actual humidity in room is about 40% (measured using calibrated and expensive humidistat). Not sure if this is the case for only my unit or all? Otherwise, five stars for now and we will see how long it lasts. Modern dehumidifiers never last long.
