Worked 2 days and then started leaking from the bottom of the unit. Over priced junk!!!! Easy return at Bestbuy will never buy this brand again. Other reviews mentioned this problem I took a chance and said I’ll try it just ended up being disappointed and a waste of my time.

The dehumidifier works as advertised in the first few hours. I've had it running for 6 hours and the bin is already 1/4 full of water. The humidity in the house has dropped from about 58% down to 45% in that short amount of time (using more accurate hygrometers).
Others have noted that the humidity reading on the dehumidifier seems 'off', but I'm not sure it's all that bad. The trick is you have to let it run and pass air through the sensors for a bit for the numbers to stabilize. Once they do, they are within reasonable error of other sensors I have.
The only reason I'm knocking it down to 4 stars is the mobile app. The manual that comes with the device says to go to x URL to get instructions on how to connect it to wifi. But the link they give you to that manual is broken. So you're left to fend for yourself. Then, once you do your work and find the app you need "Honeywell Air Comfort" app from Jmaek Limited, you'll create an account and then be stuck at how to add a device. There's no explanation on what to do next. I ended up closing the app and coming back to it 6 hours later. Then when I opened the app it prompted me to add a device and walked me through how to do it. The app has something like a 2.3 star rating because there's no explanation that there's a wait time after you register your account before you can add the device. Once you do get it registered everything works as expected.

Only had the unit for 2 days, so far is working as advertised, got two full buckets of water out of my home air!! unit noise level is a little bit high but it compensates with the good performance. Love that I can control it with my phone via WIFI and set schedules to save energy. WIFI connection instructions are confusing but was able to figure it out.

Put in garage size 21x35. Seems to do a great job. Runs quiet. Bucket fills up nearly everyday due to a lot of moisture in my garage. I like the WiFi and the app that lets me know when the tank is full. It also comes with a hose if you wanted to run it outside and let the water drain.

so far so good, it really does dry the air in our basement, (We don't have a water problem just a kind of heavy humidity in the basement) We were emptying the bucket 3 times a day. The hose is so short it won't reach to the drain. We found another hose and was able to make it work to empty into the drain. It is pricey and I was very disappointed that BestBuy only had 2 units in stock. I don't need the wifi and find it useless for us but we needed a dehumidifier right away.

Thank you for your review! We're happy to hear you're satisfied with the performance of our Honeywell Smart Dehumidifier. The continuous drain tube that comes with the unit measures 1 meter in length. We do not recommend using a longer tube, as this length has been measured scientifcally keeping in mind the amount of water it can drain, using the force of gravity. Dehumidifer works well, Android app does not

Dehumidifier itself was easy to setup and get running for basic operation. I just have it set up in my basement for continuous running with a 40% RH setting and it's been going for about 1 month so far with no issue. The phone app for Android, however, did not work work me. I was able to install it and start the setup process, but it fails out with a cryptic error on trying to set up an account password. If you look at the app feedback in the Google Play Store, you'll see lots of other people reporting the same issue. Thankfully it's a minor issue for me since it otherwise does what it's supposed to do. If remote control/monitoring by the app is a big decision factor for you and you have an Android phone, then you may be disappointed.

I’ve only had this for a couple days, but I am impressed with its features and build quality. It’s not loud at all. On high it sounds like a window AC and on low it’s just nice white noise. Not loud and not annoying. I love the wheels on the bottom and the WiFi was easy to setup although I won’t be using it much. It is a nice feature if you want to keep track of the humidity level or change fan speed, etc. and I could see those into smart home tech using it. The tank is easy to empty with its built in handle, the cord is nice and long and it’s got a continuous drain feature with included (short) hose. If you want and I’ll be doing this... you can add a condensate pump and pump the water up and out, over to a laundry drain, whatever. I prefer that over a built in pump any day. More powerful and if you’re someone who doesn’t need the pump why build it into the price?
I can’t speak about longevity yet, but with its impressive build quality and solid warranty *knock wood it should hold up. I should have bought one years ago.

I've had this for about a month and a half and have been very happy with it.
I upgraded from a 21 year old whirlpool dehumidifier that seemed to finally be on its last legs. This is a huge improvement.
First of all, the fine grained digital controls are nice. And the wifi option was worth it - it was only another $20 or so over the non-version, but I appreciate getting the alerts from it when I need to change the tank. That's let me get it emptied to keep running overnight sometimes, when I might have otherwise only checked it in the morning.
I appreciate that there is a separate hose connection apart from the bucket. My old one had a hose connector on the bucket, but it required permanently removing a plastic plug. This one you can switch back and forth easily.
The handle on top makes moving it around a lot easier, since it has the grip spot.
Plus it's very quiet. I really don't have anything negative to say about it, I just hope I can get another 20+ years out of one. So far so good.

In Love with My Honey

Previously I have purchased GE Dehumidifiers, which both went belly up in a year. After some research, I came across the Honeywell 70 Pint Smart Dehumidifier. I decided to give this one a shot. First, I would like to say that I love the white. Secondly, It was easy to set up and connect to my WIFI, which is a plus because I don't have to guess when it's time to clean the filter or empty the bucket. I just pull it up on my phone and it tells me everything I need to know, with out needing to go to the unit. I can turn the unit on or off, adjust the fan speed or even put it to sleep. Everything is right there on my smart phone. The first few days it was running, I would get an alert that the bucket needed emptying at least twice a day and the steps where killing me. Third, The continuous drain hose is very short, which is no way long enough to reach the drain. The model with the pump does come with the long hose, but decided after two GE models, that I didn't want to put extra strain on the unit. I went to Lowes and purchased a Dehumidifier Drain hose that works perfectly. Last, it doesn't make a lot of noise. My daughter, who is a very light sleeper was able to sleep in the same room as the unit. So far so good. I am in love with my Honey.

Okay, our old dehumidifier did a crash and burn on us so the hunt was on for a better one. While internet shopping Best Buy came up as a seller of this type of appliance which I had forgotten they sold them. Well after some online investigation and reviews this was an item I really liked as it was double the capacity of the old one and had Wi-Fi ( which I have come to like for some of my appliances ) and it was available for a much better price as an Open-Box item and was listed as Excellent condition. You can set up continuous draining or empty the container after you get that alert on your phone that it is full.

We've had 6 large capacity dehumidifiers previously in our basement: 2 Kenmores, a Soleus, Whirlpool, Frigidaire, Danby and now this one. The Danby still runs, but it's loud and groans like an old man climbing steep stairs (good image, huh?). The Honeywell is quieter than most and no issues with the gravity drain to our pump, so far.
It moves a lot of water in our large southern basement. The true test comes this summer when humidity outside will persist above 90%. It will run nearly non-stop for 3 months, so that will tell us if it is truly up to the task.
I will update our review as needed.
So far, it's a solid buy.

This product exceeded my expectations. I purchased this product to hopefully eliminate some of the musty odor in our lower level family room and 2 bedrooms. Noticed a huge improvement in only one day. sorry i didn't do this 10 years ago. Can't believe the amount of water collected every day. It is quiet, efficient and user friendly and can be used in conjunction with a great app. I totally recommend this product to help rid your home of dampness and resulting musty odors.

I got three of these to deal with extremely high outdoor humidity and oversized HVAC causing lack of dehumidify inside. It has made a tremendous in our comfort level. No longer do we feel muggy anywhere in the house. We also have a calibrated humidity reader that shows it virtually perfectly where it’s set all day. Only had them a few days but have only had to empty each one once a day. We are trying these prior to purchasing new HVAC systems to test if humidity was causing our issues, it certainly was! These are super easy to setup with app, sends a push alert when they needed and I can program to run lower at night and higher speed so the noise is not as intrusive watching movies. Definitely recommend, the only capabilities and performance of these units is superb.

It took a while and a lot of adjusting, but we finally got it figured out and we are happy with this product. Our first impression was not favorable and we actually returned it and did a swap with the same model. We thought maybe it was defective because it ran all the time. Directions state that there is about a 5 point overshoot, but after getting the replacement one and it was doing the same thing, it’s more like a 12 point overshoot. We’ve learned that if we set the humidity to 60%, it will shut off when it gets to 48% and then kick back on when it gets up to 55%. If we set it for 55% or less, it doesn’t shut off and will run forever.
It is quieter than others we have owned through the years. I’m hoping that this one lasts longer than our previous Frigidaire dehumidifier, that we only got 3 years out of. Our Frigidaire prior to that one is still going after 13 years! We moved that one to my parents house and I’m contemplating getting my parents the Honeywell one since we figured it out and to be one step ahead when the Frigidaire decides to die.
If it were more accurate with setting the humidity and it shutting off when it gets to that level, I’d give 5 stars. I’ve deducted a star since it took a bit to adjust and figure it out. It’s working great now.

Thank you for your review! We're happy to hear you're satisfied with the performance of our Honeywell Dehumidifier. There is a 5% threshold when the desired humidity setting has been reached. The compressor will shut off once the relative humidity is 5% lower than your desired setting. The fan will continue to run for up to 3 minutes to cool the motor and will then shut off. Operation restores once the relative humidity is 5% higher than your desired setting. Our units make use of dual motor technology, making them quieter than most others in the market. I’m happy with the quality, capacity and noise level of this dehumidifier. For some reason the instructions to download the app are not included with the instruction manual, only a link to the instructions. Why? I had trouble downloading the instructions and wrote an e-mail to the manufacturer’s customer service dept. requesting that they e-mail them to me. I never received a response. I finally found the app instructions on the Honeywell website. Nevertheless, the app is helpful in notifying when the bucket is full. I would strongly recommend connecting the drain hose to a slop sink or other drain. Otherwise the bucket needs to be empied one or more times a day which is annoying.

I've owned this unit about two weeks and it works very well. Easy to use and set up.
My only complaint is that although it is listed as a 70 pint unit, its tank is smaller than the 70 pint Kenmore unit is is replacing. I have since learned that somewhere along the line the measuring system has changed and this unit is equivalent to what used to be called a 50 pint unit. As a practical matter this means that I have to empty the unit more than once a day.

Nice & quiet while running, Very efficient and effective. I don't care for the handle on the reservoir though. It gets stuck and I'm afraid it's going to break off from the weight of the full tank of water. There is a design flaw with the lid of the removable water tank so we opted to not use it. We are emptying the water regularly in our finished basement as needed.

Well dehumidifiers do not last forever! was a totally bummer when my old dehumidifier died. After a brief funeral we moved on and went shopping for a new one. The guys at our Best Buy recommended this Honeywell! It does the job and is so easy to use. You can even control it via bluetooth and an app. That is so nice - along with a nighttime mode that is awesome. I really like the container that the water collects in as it is pulled from the air. Previous dehumidifiers I have owned had less than helpful designs for the inside of the bucket. too many walls and hard to reach areas that are perfect for mold to grow in. I would recommend dumping the bucket right away if you can. Also give it a quick clean yup as often as possible. I have been wiping mine down with those cleaning wipes - works great. Maybe once a month I hit it with something stronger. I also throw a little vinegar in there - anything to keep the mold away. This is a great unit - much easier to clean up and take care of!

I've been running this for 2 months and have no worries with it. It does some power--higher wattage maybe similar to a window unit AC except it does not require additional power outlets or breaker upgrades. It has kept my 1900 square foot building with much reduced humidity throughout. It is best if you can drain directly but this particular unit has a cheesy flexible drain hose that is not particularly easy to work with. I use it but I also have an ideal RV hook-up drain that made it easier to use. Not easy if you want to drain it otherwise.
