Customers regard the Max Extract 60 Carpet Cleaner favorably for its cleaning performance and ease of use, with many praising its effectiveness in cleaning carpets and the clarity of its instructions. Positive feedback also highlights the machine's suction capabilities and relatively light weight, making it easy to maneuver. However, some customers wished for a feature to heat the water for enhanced cleaning.

Designed for Failure

I purchased the Hoover Max Extract at a local Best Buy retailer in March of 2012. It worked adequately the first time I used it - not great but I really did not put much of a load on it. Indoor commercial grade carpet in a sun room. I cleaned and stored the machine. Second time I used it, the brushed worked ok for about 5 minutes then stopped working. Apparently the little plastic shaft that drives the circular brushes snapped off. The drive shaft appears to have a weakpoint with less than 1/4" of plastic that can be easily stressed and fail. This is a very poor engineering design. I can't see this machine lasting the duration of its warranty if it breaks down as the result of a poor design.
The brush assembly requires maintenance after every area you clean. The machine also needs to be cleaned frequently and can not be considered reliable. The product labeling also claims to have "Forced Heat" - this is a false claim. The only heat this machine produces is regulated by the heat of the tap water you fill it with.
I do not recommend purchasing this product. I don't recommend purchasing this product with out an extended warranty.

I had put off buying a carpet cleaning machine. The area to clean is one hallway and three bedrooms. It really cleaned well. My carpet is of a light color.

I was so excited to go and pick it up get it home and clean my carpet. Of course I stayed home all weekend to clean all rooms. Well I sure couldn't tell a difference and the steam heat or deep clean did not work as described on the box of course I am not a platinum member so I am stuck with having a store credit but anyways I am hoping to go back and find one worth my time and money.

I had to return the machine twice. The first time was because part of the floor spin brush broke of after taking it off to clean it. The second one leaked out of the back of the machine. We decided to go with a different model.

I usually rent carpet cleaners from stores, I was very surprised on how well the cleaner worked and how it removed pet stains with ease, I would recommend this product to anyone and needs a good carpet cleaner for a get price

Super Clean carpet after using MaxExtract 60

We purchased the MaxExtract 60 carpet cleaner and were very satisfied with the cleaning results. We have one indoor/outdoor long hair cat and two dogs that are both in and out of the house. The carpet cleaner did a good job and the carpet looked revived to the point of looking almost new. It is about 10 years old and light colored carpet. We experienced a minor issue with the suction after we emptied the dirty water tank and cleaned and replaced it back on the unit. After trying different things, I was about ready to pack up everything and take it back to the store, however my husband continued to troubleshoot the unit and after cleaning all the seals really good, we solved the problem and had great sunction and were able to finish the job. I was overall satisfied with the end result....the carpet looks great and there sure was alot of dirty water sucked out of the carpet. It had been nearly a year since our carpets were last professionally cleaned. We no longer have a local carpet cleaner business in our town, and it was way too expensive to have someone come from 60 miles away. I got a great price, Best Buy matched a competitor's sale price, plus an additional 5% off for using the Best Buy Card, plus 6 months 0% interest. This carpet cleaner was lighter than some we considered and manuvered quite well. I had major back surgery last year and was able to use the unit without any problem.

Hoover Max Extract 60 Carpet Cleaner - Seaside Blu

The Hoover Max Extract 60 Carpet Cleaner was purchased to ward off evil spirits and clean wall to wall carpets in an elder's home. The carpets had only ever been clean by my Uncle using spray liquids and a towel. At 92 he thought he could individually clean each spot that had shown up after years of use, dropped food and a few bio-accidents..LOL
Well, after one day of having the Hoover Max Extract 60 Carpet Cleaner.. it was clear to even him, the score was "Hoover Max Extract 60 Carpet Cleaner"-1 to his-zero.
I can unequivocally say that the Hoover Max Extract 60 Carpet Cleaner excels where others ( that I have owned) failed on this carpet.
The ease of assembly ( one screw), setup, filling of liquids and use were effortless. No manual needed.
I am happy to say I now have 35 year old carpet that looks as good as the un-exposed portions that exist under furniture.. you know, those un-touched areas!
My only misgiving is that the clean-up of the suction-head takes a bit of time as loose carpet fibers can be lodged within, and there is no way to open it fully to get to them, save a strong jet of water and repeated rinsing.
Its sturdy yet somewhat light-in-weight demeanor makes it almost a joy to use.. and certainly makes me smile when I look at the carpet's return to its former luster!

Outstanding Machine!!

Let me start by saying we have two large dogs and even though we vacuum everyday dirt and grime still finds its way into our carpets. I have tried many carpet cleaning machines over the years and none have come close to the cleaning power of the Hoover Max Extract. I have never seen my carpets come this clean with any other machine. It was simple to set up and to operate. The controls were easy to use and the weight was surprisingly light. Overall I was thouroughly impressed with everything about this product! Excellent choice! I will definately be a purchaser of other Hoover products in the future!

I love this machine!

I really love this machine! We have an old Bissel that just wasn't doing a good job cleaning the carpets anymore and it was difficult and cumbersome to use. We have also had pros come and clean our carpets.
This hoover is sooooo easy to use. Our carpets were in terrible shape and I did not think they could be salvaged. I thought we would have to replace them. We bought this machine and it did an incredible job. We decided to hold off replacing the carpets because they look so good now. In fact this machine did better than when we had professionals do it in the past.
You do have to stop and fill the water container or empty the other container quite often, but I really don't mind because of all the other benefits. I also recommend you get ear plugs or sound reduction headsets because it is loud.
Be sure to use the "rinse" feature. The carpets will finish up much nicer when you do that. Also there are two small screens that need to be cleaned. Just remove the lint to keep the suction working well.
I highly recommend this machine. We had no problems and it does a fantastic job.

I have three children under the age of 6, so our carpet has seen it's share of spills and dirt. I wanted something that I could use on a regular basis to keep our carpets looking new. They are only 3 years old and looked pretty bad. Renting a cleaner occassionaly didn't do the trick. I am so very happy with my purchase, the staff was very helpful and pointed out differences between models. The carpets look brand new again. The water container is a little small, but I prefer that over the bulky water containers in the Rug Doctor. It was easy to remove and fill and clean the dirty water container. I didn't feel like it was really heating the water though, so I would add hot water from my electric kettle to heat it up when I refilled (hence the 4 stars on features). I purchased along with the Shark Navigator vacuum, and my floors have never seemed so clean. Love it.

I researched carpet cleaners heavily after owning two different $100 Bissells over the last ten years. They never worked great. And the small cap for the handheld hookup would always disappear and would affect suction. Didn't like the bladder pack in the new Bissell water tanks. The Hoovers looked easier to clean. I bought it today and used it on one large area rug that my pups have done their business. Very happy with it. Smells and looks clean and fresh. I can breath in the room now. And it was very easy to clean in my kitchen sink. Love that the front suction piece and scrubbers lift off and go back on so easily. The one large rug used the entire 16oz included shampoo. It is heavy but any of these will be. Very happy with purchase and would recommend.

I loved this machine after the first cleaning. I thought my carpet was relativley clean, but after the first cleaning the reservoir water was brown. I cleaned the carpet again after two weeks and again, it was brownish in color, but much better. However, after I started getting used to the machine I started hating it. When I had to refill the water tank, I would have to bring it into the bathroom and change it over a coupole of towels. When you have to stop the machine to answer the phone or move something, it would leak on the carpet.. I haven't used it for a couple of months and today when I filled the soap dispenser, I found the check valve was broken?!? This has been stored in my basement storage room untouched since the last use. The soap leaked everywhere. So frustrating. I am considering throwing it away.
