Powerful Hoover ONEPWR Cordless Wet/Dry Vacuum

The Hoover ONEPWR wet/dry cordless utility vacuum is unique. Unique, in that it is cordless and uses a special ONEPWR Li-on battery to run the vacuum. Now this ONEPWR Li-on battery is universal in all of Hoover’s new product line (9 cleaning machines). You just need to look for the ONEPWR Li-on battery picture on their other Hoover products. Right away I was impressed with look and feel of the Hoover wet/dry vacuum. It looks much like a toolbox but handling it is easier. It is very sturdy and yet still lightweight. The handle locks into body of the vacuum when you are not using it. The attachments are smartly placed around the Hoover wet/dry vacuum, and even have a reach of 6 ft with the hose. Finally a cordless wet/dry utility vacuum that still retains its powerful suction and runs on a ONEPWR Li-on battery.
Pros
• The ONEPWR Li-on battery is rechargeable. So when the power runs out, take the ONEPWR Li-on battery and plug it into the charging cradle. And being run on the ONEPWR, take the Hoover ONEPWR anywhere you need it without having to battle with cords.
• The ONEPWR comes with a 2.0 Ah Li-on battery. There is a charger of course so you can recharge whenever you need to. To fully charge the ONEPWR Li-on battery it took me about 20 mins. I think it was partially charged though because I plugged it in out of the box and inserted the battery. The Hoover wet/dry vacuum came on.
• If you do decide to get another ONEPWR battery, it will be 3.0 Li-on Ah. So it has some more power that you can use.
• This Hoover wet/dry vacuum is perfect for the garage. I used it to vacuum up the floorboard of my car. No issues at all and is very easy to hold. The Hoover wet/dry is well balanced, and the grip on the handle locks your hand in. One hand to hold the vacuum and one hand to vacuum up dirt and debris.
• Tools are located on the body of the Hoover wet/dry vacuum in a covert fashion. They fit so well that you don’t even know they are there. I vacuumed the inside of my car with the hose and utility nozzle. Worked perfect with and the suction is way better than I had expected. The vacuum has a rating of 45 CFM (cubic feet minute) and that will definitely get the job done. There is also a crevice tool for getting hard to reach places. Everything on the Hoover wet/dry vacuum worked well and cleaned the inside of my car which needed vacuuming, even the hard to reach places.
• This is a well made vacuum. Everything about speaks to the quality of it. It also is appealing in terms of how it looks and performs.
• The Hoover wet/dry vacuum tank holds 3 gallons of water/liquid and is no trouble to empty. There are two latches on either side of the top part. Open each side and the vacuum comes apart. This makes cleaning it out very easy.
• Vacuumed up some water in garage left from the rain. No problem for the Hoover ONEPWR. Plenty of pickup power and ease of sucking up the water in the garage.
Cons
• The concept of a cordless vacuum is outstanding. The ONEPWR Li-on battery system is great for this purpose. The only thing limiting its time of use is also the ONEPWR Li-on. You get about 9 mins of runtime with this Hoover wet/dry Li-on battery. Use it for vacuuming, blowing and/on wet/dry surfaces. I definitely suggest you get another ONEPWR Li-on battery. This is helpful that when you run out of juice you have a backup that is ready for you to use. Despite the short run time, the Hoover wet/dry vacuum should have no trouble tackling simple and easy tasks.
• The only other issue, for me, is that it doesn’t have a handle extender. The extender would means that you don’t have to bend over as much when you vacuum the floor. But if you place the Hoover ONEPWR vacuum on the ground while you vacuum something like a car it is not as big of a deal. It is a big deal if you are vacuuming a large area on the garage floor, you are literary on you hands and knees.
I am impressed with Hoover ONEPWR Wet/Dry Cordless Utility Vacuum. Being cord free makes this Hoover’s vacuum that much easier to clean with. No more cords to mess with and no need to worry about the range. It is also put together well and a breeze to clean. The power is surprisingly great for a cordless vacuum. The onboard tools make cleaning convenient and complete. The only thing that is a drawback is the runtime on the cordless battery. An additional battery will take care of that. The Hoover’s wet/dry cordless wet/dry Utility vacuum, along with their other ONEPWR products is a great idea put into action. Consider looking at this Hoover cordless vacuum if you want something that takes the hassle out of clean up.

Range Anxiety Kills Usefulness

On the surface, this looks like the perfect product for someone who spends a lot of time in the garage. A go-anywhere, wet/dry vac with powerful suction and no need to drag it around tethered to a wall.
DESIGN:
First off, it actually looks pretty neat. Wouldn't be out of place next to a tool box or tackle box, it fits right in. And coincidentally, the black, grey and white tones go with my garage décor and even my vehicles! It's not too cumbersome in the hand, has fairly tight proportions for what it is, so it fits inside the car while vacuuming, and is very unobtrusive when on the floor of the garage.
It comes with a 6ft extension hose with a crevice tool, and a flatter vacuum tool, that doubles as a blower attachment, a ONEPWR 2.0 Battery, and a bespoke battery charger. Picking it up is easy with a robust, stowaway handle on top with a rubberized grip.
It has a 3 gallon 'tank' (plastic base) for those wet messes, a removable filter and even a ball float kill switch so you don't overfill the vacuum when soaking up the wet stuff.
The air outlet vent can be used as a blower, by taking the wide crevice tool and placing it over the air vent. Then put the hose in there and you have an adjustable stream of air to blow debris into a pile. Very clever design!
Overall, a nicely designed product.
FUNCTION:
This vacuum sucks, (in a good way!). It has a really powerful suction that really, really surprised me. I was incredibly impressed with just how easily it got M&M's, popcorn, dog hair and dirt off of the floor in the back of our vehicle (fallout from an 8 year old!). Really did a good job, the crevice tool was very useful, well designed and really did get into those tight spaces and did a good job of picking up almost everything in the carpet.
I tested out the 'wet' part of the unit, removing the filter inside the unit (for dry use only) and sucking up some water I had purposefully placed on the garage floor. Sucked it up without issue, straight into the watertight tank.
So why only 3 stars?
THE BATTERY:
The wet/dry vac ships with the smallest capacity ONEPWR 2.0 rechargeable battery. It takes 3 hours to charge from empty. Clip it in nice and easily on top of the unit, with plug and play compatibility with other ONEPWR products in the Hoover range.
So here it is... when using the wet/dry vac, you get a whopping 7 minutes of runtime from it. SEVEN MINUTES! That's it. Nothing more. Completely shuts off without warning, dead, with need to charge for another 3 hours.
To put that in perspective, the vehicles in my garage are an offroading SUV and a sports coupe. With a fully charged vacuum, I was able to clean up the 4 footwells in the SUV and the drivers footwell in the coupe, and that was it.
That makes this vacuum almost next to useless. 7 minutes of vacuum time in this scenario is nothing. And there it is... range anxiety. Another concern I have is that the wet/dry vac would typically be stored in the garage, where I would use it. With temps reaching into the 90s in my garage, I fear for the longevity of the battery and the potential for it to drain quickly and the vacuum never being ready for me when I want to use it, unless the battery is constantly kept on the charger.
SOUND/NOISE:
One other concern was that while using the vac in the vehicle, it eminates an unpleasant high pitched whine that was really ear peircing. I checked the filter and all of the catches, they were all good and tight, so that appears to me to be the actual operating volume of the unit. My wife even commented on it hurting her ears' when I turned it on straight out of the box.
I really wanted to love this wet/dry vac. Something I figured would be incredibly useful and portable, but it proved to be hampered by it's incredibly short battery life, which just doesn't cut it, no matter how well designed it is or how good it looks.

It worked well for wet jobs, like cleaning a small leak in a basement floor.
There is a single HEPA filter for dry cleaning, which has to be removed for wet cleaning.
The filter is washable and should not need to be replaced if cleaned properly..
It comes with a stretchable hose up to about 6' or 7'. It's similar to the type of hoses on upright vacuums. The diameter of the hose is smaller than on most other utility vacuums but about the same as on household ones. The plus side is that the hose is very flexible, which makes detailed cleaning easier.
It comes with two attachments: A Crevice tool and a utility nozzle.
The nozzle can also be attached to the exhaust port and then attach it to the hose to use as a blower.
(The blower mode is not for emptying water from the bucket, it has to be opened and dumped in a sink, as it doesn't have a drain port.
The power is adequate for this size of vacuum. Used it in cleaning a basement, after lightweight sanding of a door, or cleaning up small water leaks.
Note that the 2 Ah battery only lasts about 10 minutes of continuous use, which is not really enough except for very light duty jobs.
The batteries are compatible with other Hoover 'ONEPWR' vacuums and leaf blowers.
With that in mind, Hoover also sells a full-size utility Vac with larger bin, more power, wheels and larger battery, while this model is much more compact and lightweight.
Tthe only major issue is that the battery's capacity on this is too small for most practical uses, and additional batteries are currently priced for almost as much as this whole kit.

Battery not great

I chose this mainly for my husband. We opened up the box and first thing fully charged the battery. We left it plugged in over night for the first charge. The vacuum is all hard plastic and to me felt heavy, but my husband and son said it wasn’t heavy at all. There are two attachments which store on board. The hose seems adequate for the the job. It came with a two amp battery. We vacuumed the car mat and the suction was great. It did a good job pulling out the dirt. The attachment had a tendency to pull off sometimes with the heavy suction. The vacuum was small enough to sit on the car seat while the hose easily reached the floor. Next my husband cleaned sawdust from his workbench. It did perfect. He held the base easily in one hand and the hose in the other with no problem. Everything was easy to maneuver. There was some water on the shop floor mixed with some leaves. The vac sucked up the debris and water easily.
The only complaint is that the life of the fully charged 2amp included battery is not adequate for getting much done. Fortunately there are 3 & 4 amp batteries available. We will definitely want to order one. Thank goodness that with this wet/dry vac we can quickly clean up my new car mats without dragging out the big corded cumbersome shop vac but with much better suction than our hand held vacs. If we have the dreaded drink spill we only have to grab our new Hoover wet/dry vac to clean up the mess.

Portable But Not Overly Impressive

The convenience of having a cordless wet/dry utility vacuum cannot be overstated. Hoover's entry here is one of the showcase vacuums for its new ONEPWR rechargeable battery system - and the rechargeable battery system operates moderately well - it's about the size you would expect for a lithium ion 18-volt power tool battery (the Hoover's is 20-volt). The included battery is rated at 2.0 Ah and is the least powerful battery available - additional batteries can be purchased that are rated at either 3.0 Ah or at 4.0 Ah.
The three gallon canister is about the size of a small suitcase and opens with latches on front and back so it's extremely portable. But I found that the business end of the design wasn't really all that impressive.
Admittedly, I'm working with their weakest battery here but I didn't find the suction to be strong enough to make this a genuine contender for utility vacuum classification - so right off the bat the performance was disappointing. The vacuum hose is long enough but the vacuum only includes two attachments (a standard utility nozzle and a crevice tool - see first picture below) - at least one tool for corralling wet spills would have been handy since this is a wet/dry vacuum. Most annoying, though, was the way the attachments connected to the hose - the friction connection wasn't very strong and I found that I had to hold the attachment itself and could not hold things further back on just the hose. And surely an extension would have been helpful so you don't have to be completely on top of what you are trying to vacuum.
So while I celebrate being able to go out to clean up debris in the back of my old car without needing to unspool a long power cord, I am disappointed that I don't get more of the benefits of using a powered shop-vac.
This is kinda nifty, but it's not overly impressive.

Hoover ONEPWR Wet/Dry Cordless Utility Vacuum
The Hoover ONEPWR Wet/Dry Cordless Utility Vacuum is just like it says. It is a battery operated wet/dry small shop vacuum. It comes with a battery, 2.0 Ah, a charger and 2 attachments, a short crevice tool and a standard small vacuum head. The hose on mine extended out to 5 feet and was very flexible, I have seen where people say it reached out to 6 feet, mine was only 5 feet. It has a 3 gallon DRY capacity, and a 2 gallons WET capacity. It is a bit on the heavy side but has a really good built in handle that locks in place so it’s easy to grab. The flat rectangular bottom makes it hard to tip over. The filter is easily removed for cleaning or when being used as a wet vacuum. The power switch is solid and easy to operate.
Now for what I don’t like. This is for information only, your mileage may vary.
The run time on a full battery charge is 7 minutes/10 seconds. If the run time was going to be so low why didn’t they include a larger battery. The documentation says they have a 3 Ah and a 4 Ah, but on their web site the biggest battery is the 3 Ah. Maybe they have a 4 Ah in process of being made but just not available yet. Still with such a short run time they should have put in a larger battery. And just so your aware, the batteries are very expensive. So getting a second one is ¾ of the cost of the whole unit. With cost in mind you might ought to buy another, different unit that uses the same battery so you can swap them to get a better run time. One the plus side of the short run time is it only takes 1 hour and 15 minutes to charge a battery from dead to fully charged. That’s still going to leave you doing something else once you run through the battery. To get the continuous run time that’s stated on the box you would need 9 batteries, and 7 chargers. Not very realistic. The next thing on the list is the container itself. It has a lip around the top so you can’t just dump it out. You have to shake the last bit out. I hate this, but I have another small shop vac that has the same design at the top, I hate that one too. But I keep using it because it’s so handy. This one may replace my old one just because I don’t have to deal with a cord for something that won’t take longer than 7 minutes to do. The last thing on my list is I can’t get the accessories to stay attached. I have pushed them on pretty hard and in a minute or so they fall back off anyways. I don’t want to have to tape them on but that might be the only fix.
My bottom line. I will most likely use this vacuum a lot. I have lots of small vacuuming jobs that I hate doing because of finding an extension cord for 3 minutes of using a shop vac. I can imagine this unit setting inside the closet and getting pulled out to do a small job on a weekly basis. Good idea, not very well though out, but definitely on the right track.

These battery powered hoover products have been a game changer. I have this shop vac and the carpet cleaner and both work fantastic! The shop vac is very powerful and super easy to clean the bin out. The one tiny gripe I have is the included battery packs don't last as long as I would like but for the price it's fair. If you grab one of the more powerful battery packs then it's perfect. Would highly recommend these products to anyone.

I needed to clean up a mildew stain on my carpet that's been there for years that I didn't know about because I had a box stored there. I removed the box and found the mildew. I bought this wet/dry vacuum and it actually removed most of the stain. The suction is very powerful and better than the Bissel one I have. I'll be keeping this Hoover ONEPWR. It's plastic, and light weight and the battery is lithium. It lasts a long time.

I bought this for my husband and he has only had great things to say. My husband had a big bulky wet/dry vacuum that he used to clean his grill's pellet bin the hover is so easy to handle that he has cut his clean time in half. It's also a great little vacuum for quick jobs all over the house.

I like the portability/size and ability to get to spills/etc. Not great for sucking up on carpet like a regular plug-in vacuum.
One note, out of the box the battery did not have a full charge. When the battery gets low, the vacuum will shut off. I thought something was wrong with it. Once charged it works fine.
The vacuum is about 1' square, 2' long. About the size of a medium toolbox.
Not a lot of setup. take the battery out of the main vacuum bin and plug it in to charge w/ the included charger. It comes with the connected hose and two attachments (skinny wand and flat vacuum head) It does a good job sucking up dust/small debris off the hard floor. Not so good with dust/stuff off a rug or carpet (stick with your regular plug in vac). I did not test it out with liquids yet, but would expect the same results - good on hard floor, not so good on carpet.
There are no wheels like the typical ShopVac so you will have to carry it, but it's not too heavy, just a battery and motor (around 5-10 lb I would guess)
I would recommend it for light duty/emergency type cleanup, anything heavy duty you will want something bigger/more powerful.

This little vacuum is a great tool to have if you are a tradesman or need something ultra portable. My wife and I own several rental properties and i am often whisked away to fix this or check on that. I try to leave the necessary tools at easy access so that I can load them on my truck when i need to handle a service call.
The one thing I really hated having to load up was my 16 gallon Shop Vac. I have to rearrange everything else on my truck to fit it and then I cant even close the tonneau cover with it in there. Most of the time, i really didn't need a vacuum that large to complete my task. That is why this vacuum is such a handy tool. The hose and two additional tools mount to the top and sides of it and I can put the charger inside to keep track of it. Believe me, you want to take the charger with you.
I used this to clean up a small mess after doing some electrical work and then to vacuum the interior of my truck. While i didn't time my usage, it couldn't have been more than 5-10 minutes to complete. After having fully charged up the battery before initially using it, the battery is currently half full. I was a little disappointed with this.
The vacuum is plenty powerful for small tasks and is easy to maneuver around, but the battery life is disappointing. The battery that comes with it is only 2.0 ah, but there website offers a 3.0ah battery that is said to double the battery life. This of course can be purchased for $100. For that price, i might as well save myself $50 and buy the larger six gallon model and get the 4.0ah battery.
The battery life is always the biggest concern when using a tool that needs alot of power, but is using a small battery. I guess the best way to sum up this vacuum is you sacrifice battery life for portability. It is definitely a good start, but definitely has room for improvement. Hoover is a good brand and i'm confident they can get it right. I wish there was a button to adjust the amount of power, which might extend the battery life and that they included at least a 3.0ah battery if not larger.
They have a location in my hometown state of Ohio, right down the road in North Canton, so for that alone, I will continue to support their product lines, but it doesnt hurt that their products are well built and reliable.

Short Battery Life but Very Portable

There were no settings to play with and it came with the accessories I needed. Lightweight, compact, easy-to-use and most importantly, wireless.
I was mostly happy. Good suction for a wireless vacuum, small enough to carry into the car and around the garage or house. It does miss a hose attachment but not a big deal considering its portability. I have experienced more powerful suction with wired vacuum cleaners but I was satisfied with its performance. One thing to remember is to remove the filter for cleaning wet places.
My only disappointment started when the battery lasted only about fifteen minutes at full charge. It was time enough for me to vacuum clean my car but barely. After recharging it to full, I started to clean the garage but after what felt like five minutes, it ran out of juice. I know it lasted about fifteen minutes again but it did not feel so because I still had more than half of the garage to clean.
I had already decided to give it two or three stars but I changed my mind when I realized that it recharged very quickly. That was very good and welcome news after my disappointment. I would have given it three and half stars but since it is not an option, four it is. I would still recommend it.
