A must have for a shop of garage

I am really surprised about how great the Hoover ONEPWR Vacuum works. This vacuum is a must for any shop or garage. I am currently restoring a Nova, and things tend to get messy during the process. With the Hoover ONEPWR Wet/Dry Vacuum, cleaning a spill or a dirty floor is a breeze. It's truly incredible how strong this vacuum is. I never expected this much suction power from a battery powered vacuum. After cleaning up in the garage, I decided to try to clean my car out with the ONEPWR Vacuum. As stated before, the suction is great. The only drawback to the Hoover ONEPWR vacuum is the battery capacity. The battery power is not long lasting, and I was only able to get through a bit over half of the car's interior before I found myself having to stop an recharge, which is a hassle. I must say that recharging the battery doesn't take too long, but it is still a limitation. The Hoover ONEPWR Wet/Dry Vacuum comes with two attachments; a brushed attachment and a crevice attachment. The vacuum is light and easy to handle. Around the shop, this vacuum is incredible. I would definitely recommend the Hoover ONEPWR 3-Gal. Wet/Dry Vacuum to anyone. It makes cleaning a spill or a mess SO MUCH easier!

    Great idea but some flaws

This is a great idea … I’ll give Hoover an A for the concept of a small, cordless wet/dry vac. Unfortunately, I think they missed a bit on the actual design and execution, so they only get a C there. The vac could be mistaken for a medium/large toolbox or tackle box. It’s reasonably lightweight, and the hose and attachments all dock neatly. I found the suction to be good for a battery vacuum and much better than the small handheld units we all know, but it’s certainly not in the category of a corded utility vac. I got this to keep in the garage for cleaning the cars and my work area. The hose length was probably determined by its docking space on the top of the vac, and it stretches to 5 feet or so. This means you need to set it inside your car to reach some areas. At 10x12x18 it’s just a little large to not bang around some when doing this. Not having to drag a cord around is a big plus (they always hang up under the tires), and that is a trade-off against the somewhat short hose. There are two issues that bring this vac down an extra star. The first is that Hoover decided to package a low capacity battery in it. With only 2 AH of battery power, you only get around 10 minutes of run time, and it takes several hours to recharge. Hoover lists a 3 AH spare battery for this system, but the price is $99. That’s a typical problem with proprietary lithium battery packs. They are often very pricey. The other issue or aggravation is that the friction fit attachments come off rather easily while you’re vacuuming. Had Hoover packaged this with the larger battery, I would have rated it at 4 stars. As is, I can only give it 3. I’d recommend it to a friend as long as they can live with the 10 minute run time.

    Home Improvement MUST HAVE

This vacuum works very well and offers freedom from a wall outlet. I loved using it to clean up my mess from electrical work that creates drywall repairs. It cleans up wood chips and sawdust from my work bench and works well as a wet vac albeit a small one. It works for me in the laundry room to suck up water that leaked from my machine. You get 2 tools to use for clean up: crevice tool and mini floor tool. I find it works EXCELLENT on hard concrete surfaces like my basement and doesn't struggle too much with clogs. This vacuum can work for some, but if you have a slightly larger cleanup to do in various areas you will need to upgrade the battery (which isn't cheap). I only see the 3.0 battery for sale and nothing more. This is a nice vacuum, but this will still have stiff competition from a corded Wet/Dry Vac for the price. Battery life needs to improve significantly as a 7 min vacuum job isn't going to cut it. Overall, if you do your own repairs at home or you are a contractor who does small projects, this is for you!

First opt to purchase 4.0 battery you will thank me later. My biggest and only complaint is that filter construction is not very good as during a project water always comes out of blower port. It like sucking and getting something else wet all at the same time. Needs a better filtering system.

This is a wonderful portable vacuum cleaner. I’ve been using Shop-Vac style vacuums for vacuuming cars and other messes in the garage and well as spot-vacuuming of sofas and the like, but they’ve all been corded. The battery-operated feature of this vacuum makes it much better suited for jobs that are often not near a power outlet (I’ve strung extension cords more times than I can remember). The suction strength of this vacuum is excellent for such a small machine, and it’s smallness makes it very light and portable, which is the whole point. The hose and both of the included attachments (one broad-ended attachment and one narrow-ended attachment) are stored attached to the unit, so you are always carrying everything you could need. If you need additional attachments (and I do like an attachment with a bristle brush end for loosening dust and the like to vacuum it up), you’ll need to buy those separately and carry them separately. The entire lower half of the unit is the dust collection tank, and the included filter is easy to remove and clean. The filter is removed for wet vacuuming. This unit is part of Hoover’s “One PWR System” where all of the appliances use the same lithium ion battery. Out of the box, the battery had about a 40% charge, so I could start using the vacuum immediately. A battery charger is the only other item in the box besides the battery itself, the vacuum unit, and the two vacuum attachments mentioned above. Overall, I highly recommend this unit. It’s perfect for small, spot messes, and it’s cordless nature makes it especially well suited for jobs that are not near an electric outlet.

So got to put this little gem through it's paces the last weekend, with a bunch of household stuff. First it is about the size of a medium/large toolbox... so much in fact you may even mistake it fo one. The battery is simple to charge, with the included charger. one early downside, is I can't find a way to provide the unit AC direct power, to finish a job if the battery dies. when running, it is easy to maneuver, with it's relatively good sized hose, considering you can move the entire unit with you to where you need to be. Was able to cleanup a bunch of different messy jobs, such as fine plastic dust (from a cosplay project), wood shavings, and just plain old dirt. We did however, have a small problem with the attachments, they would not stay on the hose... we had to apply a little bit of painters tape to it, but that was so we didn't lose the attachment in the cushions and other places. Very easy to clean, to latches and dump. small filter. easy. So if you are looking for a good system, to help clean around the house or the car, or the garage or workshop.... this is a good system too go with.

    Handy Portable Shop Vac

My only wet/dry shop vac is the big 6-gallon one that I've had for years. It does the job well enough, but it's a bit of a hassle to run the extension cords from the wall in my garage to the driveway when I clean out our cars. We have another Hoover cordless vac inside the house, so when I saw this portable wet / dry version, I thought I'd give it a shot. It's about the size of a large tool box, so it's easy enough to carry around. My wife said that the weight is something that she'd feel comfortable using too. It came with a filter installed and ready to go, along with a crevice tool, and a wider, brush shape head. This thing is designed to be a great, on-the-go option for your cleanup chores. I used it to clean out the backseat of my car - 2 kids makes this a weekly chore. I was pleasantly surprised by how easy it was to move around and the utility of the long hose and tools. That being said, the reason I'm not rating it a 5 star is due to the design. See, the top of the vac is held to the bottom by 2 large clamps, one on each side. When you take the top off to empty it, the top of the bottom part curves upward and creates a lip - this made emptying it out a bit more of a chore than my big 6-gallon one. If you need something small, lightweight, and strong enough to clean up minor messes around your garage or in your car, then you should check this out.

    Wet/Dry Vac with Cordless Convenience

This Hoover ONEPWR Wet/Dry Cordless Utility Vacuum wins hands down in the convenience department. With no cord to drag around & an ingenious system of holding all accessories with a nylon bungee cord, topped off by easy maneuverability, I plan to use this tool frequently. Wet: Remove the filter. Dry: Keep the filter installed. The hose extends to 7 feet. 2 extension wands are included. A crevice tool & utility nozzle are included. Simply rinse the filter to clean it. 3-Year Limited Warranty The 2) downsides are: 15 - 20 minute operating time on the battery & less suction power than the traditional Shop Vac. SUMMARY: I love the convenience of this vacuum! It will not tip over, due to the well engineered wheel design. Cordless, easy to clean, 6 gallon capacity. It is a keeper! I Highly Recommend it.

I was excited when I first took the Hoover ONEPWR 3-Gal. Wet/Dry Vacuum out the box. A compact, battery powered shop vac – what a great idea. Too bad is sucks, and not in the way a vacuum should. When I first took this out of the box, I thought that it looked familiar. Very familiar. Actually, it looks exactly the same as the Ryobi. In fact, it is the same exact unit except a different battery system. I guess Ryobi is making it for Hoover or vice versa. So let’s look at construction of the unit first. Cheap. Its plastic injected molded bottom casing with a snap on motor lid. It’s not a bad design but definitely on the cheap side. There is not even rubber grommets on the bottom to prevent wear and sliding on the floor. The two tools it comes with (a utility nozzle and a crevice tool) snap into the sides of the casing . Unfortunately, they are not very secure and fall off. It does not come with a dusting brush so it will not pick fine dirt when vacuuming a dashboard. Definitely, not a great start. I charged up the battery for 24 hours and turned the unit on to test the power. Surprisingly, the power is decent. Not great but better than I thought and nearly comparable to budget corded vacuums. But none of this matters, what matters is the battery life. Take a look at the specs on the Hoover website or any website – there is no mention of run time. There is a reason why. I got a whopping total of minutes run time. You are reading that correctly, 7 minutes. I thought that something was wrong and let the battery charge for another 24 hours and double checked that it had a full charge. I ran it again and did light vacuuming of couch and TV. This time I put a stopwatch to make sure I got an accurate number. Yet again, 7 minutes ( and 18 seconds to be exact.) I've tested this vacuum for a week and the results are always the same. Are you kidding me? This is worthless at 7 minutes . Even worse , the unit is $149.99. I could forgive a bit if this was a $50 but a $150? C’mon. The virtually identical Ryobi is 20% less in price with battery that can be used on their hand tools. If you want a large capacity battery ( the 4.0 amp) it is $119. Ugh, who is going to do that when all the competition sells two batteries for $20 less. I am flabbergasted at the lack of run time performance but high cost for what you get. This is a hard pass, look elsewhere for bigger, better and less costly.

The Hoover OnePWR system seems poised to take floor care to the space power tools have been going for years - Wire-free and battery ecosystem locked! This 3-Gallon wet/dry vac is intuitive, sucks hard, works VERY well for automotive clean ups thanks to its portability and strong suction, but the accessories are tiny and don't stay on the hose well during use, and the battery life fell just short of our "Can we vacuum the entire car out" test. The cleaning heads (a flat vacuum head and a crevice wand) integrate nicely into the chassis of the unit when not in use, and there is even integrated hose storage on the top of the unit. This makes it a nice, self-contained unit with great portability. The main vacuum head also doubles as the adapter for blower mode. Its an interesting approach but worked well in my tests. I only wish this attachment held on as well to the hose when in standard vacuum mode - It tended to slip off frequently when cleaning my car (these are smaller than normal attachments and I have big hands, so maybe that's it)... This thing is VERY innovative, and if you're willing to invest in a battery system for floor care, its the one I'd choose - Just have an extra battery for the big jobs.

This 3 gallon capacity Hoover wet/dry vacuum seems to be a very niche product with limited appeal. It's too small to be used while standing up, which means it's not useful for larger swaths of floors. There are no wheels or rollers as it's meant to be carried. That also means if you’re vacuuming a lot of liquid, it can get heavy for some folks. Then again, if you’re using it for small spills, a paper towel is the simpler solution. On the other hand, it's too large to use as a car vac or for stairs (it's doable, but cumbersome). One particular annoyance is that the attachments don't clip on to the hose. That means they slip off easily as you're vacuuming. On top of that, the dirt tank has a lip along the top where the vacuum attaches. So when trying to empty the tank, some dirt or liquid will always stay inside the tank until you wipe it clean and dry. A much better design would have been to have some kind of way to empty the tank from the bottom. If you tend to make a lot of spot messes and you've already bought into the Hoover ONEPWR appliances and batteries, then this could be a nice add. ONEPWR batteries will work across the product line. But otherwise, I don't see much use for this.

I really wanted to like this Hoover wet/dry vacuum cleaner. It has so many positive features. Not needing to worry about a power outlet is one. I like that the “ONEPWR” battery is used for a whole line of Hoover vacuums. It’s also attractive and very solidly built. It’s easy to open and empty the dirt tank (you remove the filter when using the cleaner with liquids). The cleaner snaps back together with very solid “clicks.” The attachments snap on to the case so they’re always with you. To me the biggest negative is the length of the cleaner’s hose. It extends to only about 2 feet, so to use it to clean up dirt or spills on the floor, you’d have to get down on your hands and knees. In normal use you’d have to carry the cleaner with one hand and vacuum with the other. The cleaner weighs 10 pounds with the battery installed, so my hand and arm got tired rather quickly. Finally, the battery power lasted less than 7 minutes before it started to run down, and then takes well over an hour to fully charge back again, so your cleaning chore would have to be completed quickly. Bottom line, the cleaner is well built as I said, if it had wheels and a much longer hose, I think it would be more useful.

We have a 10 gallon wet/dry vac and use it more than you can imagine. The biggest pain with it is the sheer size. It is a bear to lug around from the basement to whereever we need it, especially given the sheer size/length of the hose. This Hoover is so much more convenient to use. Between the size being so much smaller and the fact that it is cordless, you can take the vac directly to the problem and not have to worry about where to plug in or how to maneveur the vac to the right spot. I don't think we'll get rid of the larger machine just yet, but if we continue to be able to deal with all the problem with the much smaller Hoover, it just might be time.
