We had a last gen Hoover carpet cleaner that eventually wore out after several years of cleaning a 3000 sq foot carpeted house. I got this one on sale at BB and it's been even better than it's predecessor. I use hot water in the reservoir and it cleans great. The vacuum is strong and carpets dry quickly.

Like the dual tanks for clean and dirty water; wide brush head makes for faster cleaning of larger areas; suctions up water better than most cleaners. Negatives are absence of heating element and have to stop frequently to remove clogs of dog hair.

This cleaner worked well for pulling dirt out of the carpet. The vacuum extraction pulled most of the water out of the carpets and the drying time was satisfactory. Per a review article in our local newspaper, we hand applied spot cleaner to the carpet and did not use the chemical tank on the Hoover machine. We wanted to avoid putting chemical cleaner throughout the entire room. The carpets look great.
