A solid choice for a stick vacuum

We've got seven indoor cats, carpeted stairs, and a mix of carpet, tile, and hardwood floors so I'm always looking for another good vacuum. So far, I'm pretty happy with the Hoover React. Here are some things I like about it: -- It comes with a lot of useful attachments, and they seem to be nicer, heavier plastic like on my old Hoover upright -- The battery life really is great -- The lights are very bright and work well to illuminate the area -- The motor is strong with good suction, which is not always the case with vacuums of this type. -- While strong, the motor is still reasonably quiet so it doesn't cause too much panic in the cats. -- With the floor brush attached, it goes very flat which makes it easy to get way under beds and couches to clean those areas. There are a few minor things I don't like about it: -- The charging stand is enormous and takes up a lot of space. I'm sure this is to give the fast charging time for the high-capacity battery, but most other stick-type vacuums I've seen just have a little a/c adapter. -- It would have been nice if the stick would lock and stand up on its own. Yes, there's a wall mount to hang it up for storage, but it would be nice to stand up when you're using it. For example, when you need to empty the bin you have to lay it down on the floor or lean it in a corner while you do that. -- I usually have to reach into the bin to clean out all the pet hair that gets stuck around the filter. Not a huge problem, but it doesn't shake out completely like some other vacuums. Overall, it does the trick and the minor problems above aren't a big deal to me. I think this vacuum is a good choice for people with a lot of pet hair to wrangle.

    Powerful and Sleek Cordless Vacuum

This vacuum actually makes it easy, and dare I say, “fun” to clean up the house. It doesn’t feel like a chore to vacuum compared to my old boring upright. It maneuvers around corners with just a twist of the wrist to guide it along. It is also pretty lightweight to use one-handed for quick cleanups like the backseat of a car or cobwebs high in the corners of a room. I like the bright light on the main brush head, especially when you are trying to get to lower lit areas of the house. Also, I always had the conception that a battery operated vacuum had a weak suction but I was very impressed with the cleaning power of this one. Plus, it has a good battery life with quick charging. My house has a combination of carpet and hard wood floors and the FloorSense had no issues with deciphering which area I was currently vacuuming. The dashboard on the top keeps you aware of the remaining battery life, the current mode being used, and a warning indicator light if something has gone wrong while vacuuming. There are a variety of attachments that come in the packaging. Switching from one tool to another is as easy as a one-button click and release. You also get a wall mount to store the Hoover and its accessories. However, not everything is perfect as I have a few grips. The battery itself is great but the battery charging unit is very large and it just doesn’t seem to fit with the whole ‘sleek and slim’ design of the vacuum. Also, the vacuum can’t stand freely on its own, so I am constantly finding something to lean it on while cleaning. None of these are deal-breakers though. Overall, this is a great whole home cleaning unit and I recommend it to anyone that wants to cut the cord.

Small and lightweight, this cordless vacuum is easy to use. But the suction is less than advertised and the dirt holder is tiny. It is louder than you’d expect and the charge runs out a bit too fast.

Great compact vacuum... but it won’t stand up on its own... also... debris gets caught in sides of canister and I have to dig it out with something... it won’t just empty with the simple open lid.

I owned a Hoover many years ago that always worked very really well and I know Hoover is a company that’s been doing this for a very long time so I was excited to try the new Hoover React cordless stick vacuum. The box the React came in wasn’t the easiest to get open and the packaging could have been a little better but it didn’t take too long to get unboxed and it’s a one time experience, so not a big deal. The battery does not arrive fully charged, due to restrictions on shipping fully charged batteries, so I had to charge it for a couple hours before the first use. Running the vacuum is a breeze, I really like the trigger style power button Hoover designed. Press and hold the trigger for a one-time quick use or press the trigger twice for continuous suction. There are three modes available; Brush On, Brush Off and Floor Sense. A soft-touch button is used to change between modes and there is a lighted display indicating “Floor Sense” or “Brush Off”. Neither text will be lit when the brush is on continuous mode. There is also a battery level light, displayed as a ring divided into four sections so you know how much power you have remaining while vacuuming. The React is very lightweight and maneuvers extremely well, easily reaching under tables and furniture. The unit glides over the carpet and onto hard floors. Not being attached to a cord while vacuuming, in combination with the lightweight and maneuverability makes vacuuming the house a faster, more enjoyable chore. I do have to mention that the wheels on the React can be a little squeaky when pulling the vacuum backward. I noticed that I can limit and eliminate this squeaky noise by pulling the vacuum backward more slowly, but that’s not really the pace I'm used to, so it’s a bit of an annoyance for me. I might try to oil the wheels to see if that helps. The suction is great, it tackles pretty much everything in it’s way including dog hair and small debris. The “Floor Sense” technology is a really nice addition, the vacuum automatically changes mode depending on what type of floor you are cleaning. It works well, changing mode within about 1-2 seconds when moving from carpet to hard floor and taking up to 5 seconds when moving back onto the carpet. I did notice that when on the carpet for a long period of time, while using Floor Sense mode, the brush will turn off for about 5 seconds then come back on periodically. Cleaning my three bedroom house, floors and walls, with the attachments, used about ¾ of the battery. Although one battery charge was sufficient for my house, I think this unit should have come with an additional battery at this price point. Also, the battery charging dock is much larger than other stick vacuums I’ve seen. I had to empty the dirt cup multiple times. The area between the cup wall and the filter is small and my dog’s hair and other debris gets trapped. Knocking the cup on the trash can doesn’t work and I have to reach in and pull the hair out with my fingers. Hoover should have included a tool to get this out or made the dirt cup just a little larger to allow for more space. The app is more for people who own a robotic Hoover vacuum and I don’t see myself ever using it. The React does not stand up on it’s own but does balance easily on the wall or against your furniture if you need to stop or change attachments. You could also just lay it on the floor. It comes with a plastic resting station wall bracket that can be mounted to a wall in your house with screws. The holder keeps the vacuum standing up and also holds a couple of the attachments. The attachments are fantastic! It comes with five different cleaning tools and a pivoting extension attachment. The powered stair tool is really great, it’s an actual powered mini brush that spins very quickly. Not only does it work great on stairs it also pulls dog hair up and out of our fabric furniture and my car seats very well. The crevice tool is really nice too, it has a flexible extending tube that pulls out for extra reach and it's made of a soft rubber material that won’t scratch your furniture or walls. Using this vacuum as a hand held with all of these great tools really helps you to clean every nook and cranny in your home. Hoover does have some room for improvement on this model but overall this is a very easy to use, multi-functional vacuum that will come in handy for many different chores. The suction is powerful, the included tools are really nice and the battery life is sufficient.

When I first read Penn State, I was hesitant. Usually when there’s a pet vacuum cleaners they do it to catch animal lovers attention, just like myself. I gave it a try and let me tell you it picks up all the hair off my floor. The only disadvantage is that you probably have to charge it every time you finish your room. But we’re having many dogs, and a great vacuum… I would never return! If you have a lot of dogs likes me you just have to clean it a little bit more often! I love the light feature, it really lets you know if you’re picking up hair or not!!

I love my Dyson Vacuum. This one, now so much. The attachments don't hook on it like the Dyson so you have a lot of miscellenous parts to track, the suction is sub par and it just doesn't seem to do as good of a job as other vacuums I have had it the past. If your looking for something to just clean up quick and easy behind a toddler eating cereal it's ok but not great for pets or big messes.

Order to receipt was fast. Packed very well. Quick & easy to assemble. Came with every attachment one could want and a convenient mounting bracket to store them all in one place with. Seems to be very well made by Hoover for years of service to warrant the price. Easy to empty. Easy to remove and replace the battery. The detachable battery has yet to run completely down on us unlike our Dyson's battery that requires two charges to do our entire house. We've already ordered a second inexpensive battery. This vacuum picks up small chunks of things that is usually reserved for the power provided by corded vacuums, but yet manages to clean up even the finest dirt and sand from both our carpeted and tile floors. And it has a large refuse collector so you don't have to stop and empty it multiple times while doing your vacuuming, which of course significantly makes the chore of vacuuming take less time. It can get completely under any furniture, has bright LED headlights, can stay on without you having to continue holder the trigger, displays the battery life, and even automatically changes its floor settings in less than a second, going from tile floor to carpet to rugs etc. etc. so you don't have to stop vacuuming to do this yourself, once again making vacuuming take less time. The only slight draw back is that it is a bit heavy, but that's to be expected with it's powerful motor and long lasting battery. Now HERE'S THE BEST PART; it's so QUIET that it takes a bit of getting used to because at first you might believe it isn't working. It is Tesla quiet !!! Doesn't disturb others in the household when in use, doesn't bother the dog, and T.V. can be heard over it.

The Hoover - React Whole Home Cordless Pet Stick Vacuum - Dark Gray is definitely made with insight to what is needed to clean a complete home. The main three pieces snap together in seconds and are ready to vacuum. The Hoover - React Whole Home Cordless Pet Stick Vacuum - Dark Gray comes with several attachments that make cleaning specific areas and/or types of flooring easier than using a standalone basic vacuum. My model came with a crevice tool, dusting brush, upholstery tool, pet upholstery tool and a powered stair tool. It is constructed to be used as a basic floor vacuum, a handheld vacuum, and an over the head vacuum that can reach high dirty places. The strength of the vacuum is strong enough to pick up dirt from carpets/rugs of various depths. The maneuverability of the vacuum can form ninety degree angles or any angle necessary to clean hard to reach places. The Hoover FloorSense Technology automatically can tell when I am cleaning rugs and carpets or hard flooring. The motor and suction increases when I leave the hard floor surface and begin to clean a carpet or rug. Maintenance of the Hoover - React Whole Home Cordless Pet Stick Vacuum - Dark Gray is very easy. I simply need to press or click a button to release a component for cleaning or exchanging parts. There is also the Hoover App that I downloaded to assist me in customizing my FloorSense settings, set my maintenance reminders and access tips on better methods of usage of the Hoover - React Whole Home Cordless Pet Stick Vacuum - Dark Gray. The Hoover - React Whole Home Cordless Pet Stick Vacuum - Dark Gray is a light weight powerhouse machine that can do it all.

This is a really nice vacuum. Good suction, a beater bar, a lighted front end and loads of attachments. We've had a lot of this style of vacuum over the years, some better than others. This one has a lot of great features. It's relatively lightweight and very maneuverable with the beater bar connected. The front has LED lights on it that are bright and helpful. This is something that's missing from a lot of this style vacuum these days. The wheels and rollers on the beater bar attachment are made of rubber, not plastic, and are easy on the floors. Being rubber I would have thought that tooling it around the house would have been nice and quiet, but that's not the case. The rear wheels are kind of squeaky, which is really a bit annoying. It's because the plastic center portion of the wheels don't have any kind of bearings, they just seem to be snapped onto a plastic spindle, hence you get squeaking. The head unit has a feature called FloorSense which interacts with the beater bar attachment. On hard floors, this feature slows the speed of the beater bar so it doesn't scatter any debris on the floor. On carpets, it speeds up the beater bar to deep clean the carpeting more efficiently. There's also a really good battery indicator that shows how much charge is left. The battery is removable which is great. Just pop it out and put it in the charging stand wherever it's convenient to put it. This is also nice because we have ours mounted in the garage right outside the door. Cold weather would not be good for the battery. The vacuum comes with a lot of attachments that make it easy to do things like vacuum the stairs or the couch cushions. You can raise it up to clean the blinds or drapes in place as well. The dirt cup is clear and the first time I emptied it, I couldn't figure out how it all came apart. After a little exploring, I found that there was a way to take it all apart to clean it thoroughly. All in all a versatile, lightweight vacuum with every attachment you'll ever need. The suction is good and after racing around the house with it the first time, I was impressed at how much “stuff” it picked up.

    Decent Vacuum for the Money

Hoover is a name that synonymous with Vacuums and has been for a long time. I grew up using Hoovers and only recently have started to branch out into the other brands like Dyson and Shark. The Dyson vacuum i have in the house is a standard vacuum so this was a product that fills a different need. The vacuum itself came with a lot of different attachments than most vacuums included a powered stair cleaner that I find very useful. The unit itself is lightweight and it provides decent suction power. The one thing I did notice is the wheels on the main suction unit are very squeaky. So as I push the vacuum around it's actually louder than the suction itself and makes it feel like I'm kinda pushing around an old toy vacuum. Not really sure if that was a design flaw with my unit or not but I immediately noticed it and it's very distracting and makes the vacuum feel cheap. The suction power itself of the vacuum is good, but i also noticed the unit doesn't stand up by itself. So i have to lean it against something or drill a hole in my wall. Also the battery charger looks like a small bluetooth speaker, which makes the storage of the vacuum itself a little cumbersome. I do appreciate the functionality of the unit in that I can easily use it like a dustbuster or clean hard to reach places above me all with the same unit. I use it quite often in my car to get out crumbs in the seats or clean the trunk which is something that was previously reserved for my shopvac. I did notice is the dust container gets full very quickly and seems to bind up with a lot of the pet hair you collect. I had to actually stick something in the cleaning unit itself to get rid of all the hairs. Overall I feel like the unit is pretty good, but for $300 dollars I feel like you have a lot of different options, and I'm not so sure that this Hoover model would be my first choice. There are similiar products from different brands in the same price range, I would just recommend doing your homework before you buy and be happy with the functional things you're going to use the most.
