We replaced an older Hoover carpet cleaner with this. It is so much better and easier to use than our old one. Does a good job on our carpet.

This vacuum is WAY better than I thought it would be! It cleaned coffee and pet stains that were years old left from previous tenants. The carpet looks almost new again!

I was not sure how good this thing would work on getting all the spots up but I am definitely impressed in a deftly recommend this item for anybody that has pets or children.

I used this product in all 3 of my carpeted rooms (which actually all have different styles of carpet) before writing this review and I think that provided some important insight. I also used this with Hoover Paws and Claws solution. Slightly larger than your average vacuum, but surprisingly light. Comes with a bag holding the hose for the attachment. The attachment is separate and doesn't stow away on the unit. It may have added bulk, but it's too bad this didn't come with a spot to store these on unit. Operation is incredibly simple. All tanks are labeled as to what goes in them. Just fill your water tank and solution tanks separately (no need to dilute solution, which is super nice), recline it, power it on and go. You push forward, it shoots water and solution into your carpet. Pull back and it draws it out. Couldn't be simpler; just be sure to go slow in both directions. It also has a "dry only" button which allows it to go in either direction without adding more water. I did all my rooms once with wash/dry, and then with dry only. It does still leave your carpet a little damp, but so does every other carpet cleaner so I didn't find this too annoying. It also has a pretreating wand that doubles as the unit's main handle which is really cool. Shoots a jet of oxy solution out in a tight little jet. Worked great on some older spot in our berber carpet. All in all it left my carpets looking great! The plusher ones looked new again (lifted some of the tracked-down areas) and the dirtier basement carpet looked more uniform, though maybe not new (honestly though, I don't think there's any saving that carpet). And it left a subtle, yet fresh and clean smell. Not chemical or strong. As the title says, there are a couple drawbacks, but I wouldn't say any are dealbreakers. It's my belief that this provides better suction on plusher carpets. It seemed like it was drawing in more water when I would pull it backwards through the plusher carpets. They must make a better seal. Not a big deal, just expect shorter, looped, berber carpets to be wet longer. The cord for it is a little on the short side, which isn't a problem for me due to having a small townhouse, but it may be bothersome for some users. Obviously an easy fix with an extension cord. The water tank isn't the biggest either, but that might be to save on weight when in use. I did notice it was nearly dry during my first use, though i'm not sure if there was more in the machine, so I can't say if it'll do anything when it runs dry. I just noticed it was super low without it telling me anything, so who knows. I don't plan on running it dry to test it. Lastly, it goes through solution and water somewhat quickly, but not alarmingly fast or anything. Just something to note. All in all I would say it's worth it for pet owners. Mine picked up a LOT of cat hair my dyson left behind, which means it deep cleaned, and it made my carpets look and smell great. The fact that it took some old stains out of our downstairs carpet, and made it a uniform color sold me; I didn't even need to see how the other rooms turned out.

I will say that I presently own and had been using a competitor's carpet cleaner (aka "the tank"), and the Hoover SmartWash Pet Complete absolutely runs circles around it. It is light, yet does a great job in both putting down the carpet cleaning solution and vacuuming up the remaining liquid / dirt residue from the carpet. Lighter means it's easier to push in order to apply the shampoo and water mixture, and also to pull in order to vacuum the liquid residue (and pet hair!) from the carpet. I've had two spinal surgeries, so a lighter device that does a better job than "the tank" means it will be used more frequently and without reservation. And without a sore back afterwards. Beyond what I've already mentioned, Hoover reimagined what a carpet cleaner should be. One that is simple: No measuring and mixing the cleaner with water. Just fill the water tank, and ensure there is Hoover cleaning solution in the separate cleaning solution tank on the cleaner, and you're ready to go. One that Deep Cleans: based on my initial use tonight, it truly deep cleans the carpet - after making a pass over my carpet, it looks like new again and smells great! We have three miniature long-haired Dachshunds, and accidents do happen. To treat those, there is a separate "spot chaser" pre-treat wand that makes short work out of those areas. On my next use, I plan to clean a couple of fabric covered chairs in our living room with the included antimicrobial pet tool. Hoover markets this cleaner to be "as easy as vacuuming". I can attest that this is truly the case and not just marketing-speak. Every cleaner needs to be emptied, the brushes cleaned, etc when the job of cleaning the carpet is done. Any parts that need to be removed for this effort were carefully thought out so that they are very easily removed, cleaned and reinstalled. This makes the cleanup of the machine much less of a chore than any other machine I've used in the past. There are two things that would have made the product even better. One is to have provided a slightly longer power cord. As provided, the cord is long enough to clean within a reasonably-sized room, but not much longer. Another 6-8 feet of power cord would have provided a bit more cleaning flexibility. The other thing is that the power cord exits the cleaner from the back of the machine near the very bottom. Having to reach down and keep the cord in your hand when backing the machine does not help a bad back. It would have been better (for folks in my situation at least) if the cord exited the machine a bit higher so that it was not necessary to bend over to manage the cord when backing. That said, the Hoover SmartWash Pet Complete Automatic Carpet Cleaner is a revolutionary improvement in carpet cleaners. It is really apparent that they did a lot of thinking about how to deliver a much better design than other carpet cleaners available today. Nicely done, Hoover, nicely done.

I love this carpet cleaner. The added spot cleaner makes my life so much easier. With two large dogs in the house, this is a necessity!

So far it is great and very easy to use. I have three pets and they are messy so having a machine that can handle them is a necessity.

WOW! I was expecting this machine to make our carpets " a little brighter " , but it made them like new! The spare bedroom/TV room, had a large area with near black stains on off white carpet, We were going to replace the carpet, now one would think it is new carpet! The machine itself, it pretty straight forward and easy to use and clean up, as long as you don't leave your rugs soaking wet when done, the results are very good!

does the job that a professional carpet cleaner can do without forking out hundreds of dollars.

I can not live without it. My allergies would be in revolt without this wonderful machine.
